I came here for dinner with a friend, and overall had a great experience. The ambiance is beautiful, with stunning views of the water and the Boston skyline. It's the perfect spot for a golden hour dinner or a date night. To start, we ordered the Arancini and the Burrata con Pesto. The Arancini was good, but nothing particularly memorable. The Burrata con Pesto, however, was excellent. The combination of creamy burrata with pistachios and raisins created a delicious balance of sweet, salty, and crunchy flavors. It's definitely something I would order again. The pizza was also great, it's crunchy and thin. The staff were friendly, attentive, and consistently kept our water glasses filled throughout the meal. MIDA East Boston was kind of a mixed bag for me. The food itself was actually very good, which honestly made the service issues even more frustrating. We started with the fritto misto. Flavor-wise, no complaints. Everything tasted fresh and light, not greasy. That said, it felt like about 70% of the basket was peppers acting as filler. Good peppers, sure, but after a while you start digging around looking for the actual seafood like you're on an archaeological expedition. The smoked short rib lasagna was the standout of the night. Rich, smoky, comforting without feeling overly heavy. Definitely the best thing I ordered. Dessert was the citrus almond cake, which I also really enjoyed. Nice balance of sweetness and citrus without tasting artificially sugary. Now for the part that dragged the whole experience down: the service. It was rough. Not "busy Friday night" rough. More like "does anyone actually work our table?" rough. We had to ask for bread multiple times, ask for water multiple times, and there were long stretches where nobody checked on us at all. Empty glasses basically became part of the table setting. The weirdest part of the night involved the side door near our table. It was raining outside, and one of the waiters kept leaving the door open while joking around with another employee outside who was getting soaked in the rain. Meanwhile, we were also getting sprayed with rain and blasted with cold air while trying to eat dinner. We eventually had to ask if they could keep the door closed or move us somewhere else. Once we said something, the problem stopped immediately, which honestly made the whole thing feel even stranger. The restaurant itself has a really nice atmosphere and the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing, so this wasn't a total loss by any means. But when you're paying Boston restaurant prices, basic attentiveness matters. I'd probably give it another shot because the food was solid, but this visit felt very uneven overall. read more

Did not have a reservation for a Friday evening but was able to find two seats at the bar. Beautiful view of the harbor; would love to sit outside on the patio next time. Bartenders were incredibly attentive and able to answer questions about the menu. Apparently all the pastas contain egg aside from the vegan/gluten free pasta so we ordered the casarecce alle verdura, which was a marinara veggie pasta. The bartender did advise that you could swap the vegan/gluten free pasta into other dishes if you'd like (though none of the other sauces appeared vegan). Would love to see more vegan options in the menu! Also ordered a few cocktails which we enjoyed, including the espresso martini, the amalfi coast, and the tropicale. After a long day of air travel and a late arrival, we were looking for a pizza on the east side that we could quickly grab and take back to the hotel. Mida seemed like it would work--and it did--but it wasn't the best slice of pie I've ever eaten. The good: thin pizza (just the way I like it) cooked in a stone oven with a crispy crust without a ton of sauce. The not-so-good: overcooked (very charred) and a little flavorless. After we finally found a parking spot (tricky!), I wish we would have eaten in instead. I'm guessing the other dishes are way better and the location is stellar with a beautiful view of Boston Harbor. I'd like to come back and try again sometime. read more

Stumbled upon Mida while exploring east Boston. Had no idea East Boston, Jefferey's Point was so cool...great places to explore waterfront parks, history, art - lots of murals and sculptures in the area. We sat at the bar, had excellent service, very knowledgeable bar tender. Food was excellent... best Caesar salad I've ever had...I added fresh anchovies for an extra charge and it was amazing! Came to MIDA just to grab a drink by the water; and ended up staying to get dinner because the ambiance and menu looked so good! The focaccia bread is absolutely a must order here - it's probably some of the best bread I've ever had. The meatballs were also excellent, and both of our pasta dishes were excellent. After reading an evil and vile five-star review of Mida East Boston on this very website, I am compelled to appear here with my humble yet superior opinion. I recently dined at Mida East Boston with several individuals. It is certainly a good option for a nice dinner, and is conveniently nestled by the waterfront near the so-called Clippership Wharf "luxury" apartment complex. This location of Mida is indeed a good choice for a waterfront dinner. Patrons can view the many party yachts, including the hay-roofed one, meandering back and forth and side to side in the harbor, and listen to the distant din of the foul Tall Ship. The view is nice, and it is even nicer to dine with the comforting knowledge that a dip in the harbor is a mere several feet away. Now to the most important component, the food. I sampled several items during the visit, including (1) bread with olive oil, (2) burrata with pistachio pesto, (3) crispy polenta, (4) rock shrimp carbonara, (5) roasted chicken, and (6) pork bolognese. The food overall was very good, particularly the burrata, whose pistachio and raisin and mint accompaniment orchestrated a sumptuous experience in the mouth and gullet. I was also impressed with the roasted chicken, which, despite it being the breast of a chicken, was moist and supple. My point of criticism relates to the rock shrimp carbonara. Although I am a large supporter of hollow pastas, in this case bucatini, the hollowness was affronted by the seasoning of this dish (or lack thereof). The flavor profile was one-dimensional: salt. In fact, this dish was so salty that I remained dehydrated for approximately 20 hours after consuming it. The portions are on the smaller side, although not egregiously so. Thank God I ate something beforehand. Despite the saltiness of the rock shrimp carbonara, the service was very good. The staff here seem particularly attuned to allergies, but guests should be advised to not conflate disliked foods with allergens. I would return to Mida under certain circumstances. read more

The waterfront views from this restaurant were amazing. The food was also very good. We got the arancini as our starter and shared a cheese pizza. The pizza was thin crust and saucy. We also got the eggplant Parmesan (doesn't come with pasta) and the spacatelli al pesto. The pesto pasta was cool because it was had chickpea instead of pine nuts and the sauce was tomato based. The eggplant parmesan was my favorite. It had a lot of layers almost like a casserole and it was super filling. The service was good even during a busy hour and everyone was friendly. We called at 5pm to try to see if wr could adjust the reservation and they told us the only inside was at 5:45pm so we said we will come at 7pm. Got there at 6:58pm and were told if we wanted to sit inside, we needed to leave by 8pm because they had "other reservations." We recently dined at Mida in Eastie for brunch. For 12:45 on a Sunday it wasn't packed, but there were tables filled. It was absolutely gorgeous out and we got a table next in the sun with a lovely view. For drinks we got the persephone spritz and irish coffee. The persephone spirit was sweet and refreshing; however, too much ice in the glass. The irish coffee was perfect, the foam was tasty! We were served bread with a garlic dipping oil, the dipping oil was delicious but the bread would have been better warm. We started with the arancini and pizza bianca, both delicious! The arancini here I think is some of the best arancini I've had around. The gnocchi cacio e pepe hit the spot. My significant other enjoyed the Mida Slam, but he wasn't a fan of the potatoes. The air was still, the view was clean, and the hum of the city felt far away -- a well-earned pause. Service started strong, the kind where water glasses stay full and questions get answered before you ask them. But once the plates hit and the food was gone, so was the urgency. It took a bit to flag someone down for a box and the check, but nothing unforgivable. The food, though -- that's why you go. A New Haven-style clam pie with a crust you could hear crack as you tore it apart. Clams, bacon, and peppers all dialed in, balanced without being precious. The short rib lasagna was rich, smoky, and unapologetic -- the kind of plate that leans into winter even if the air says spring. And just when you think it's too much, the mushroom pappardelle slides in like a soft-spoken friend -- delicate, buttery, with garlic whispering in the background. Even the roasted carrots hit right. Roasted to the edge of caramelization, resting on a swipe of tangy sumac yogurt that should be jarred and sold by the pint. Portions? Exactly what they should be. The view from this restaurant is truly stunning - made the ambiance all the more pleasant with the modern and finished interior as well. Service was pretty fast - arguably too speedy, surprisingly. Food came out very quickly which made the meal feel a bit rushed honestly, but better than too slow. Water refills were on the slower side though. The food was pretty delicious - price a bit high, but for the vibes of the restaurant, it matched the expectation there. I enjoyed the clam pizza the most - we all shared a bit of each dish and we weren't disappointed. The only thing I wish for was bigger serving sizes - definitely left feeling still a bit hungry. I had a great anniversary dinner with my girlfriend a few months ago here at MIDA in their East Boston location. Incredible food and service with a beautiful view of Boston's skyline. My girlfriend and I started off the burrata, some of the best I've had in the city. It was salty and sweet, and came with very warm bread which was perfect for dipping. The waitress brought us more complimentary bread to dip in the burrata after we finished our first batch. For our main course we ordered two pasta entrees so we could split them-- highly recommend doing it this way. We split the Bolognese and the Carbonara, both absolutely amazing. To end the night off we were brought some complimentary dessert for our special night-- a slice of berry cake and some ice cream with a candle. Delicious! I've loved my experiences at the South End and Newton locations of MIDA, so I was excited to visit this latest location. The interior, as well as the view of the waterfront are absolutely stunning, and there are tables outside for when the weather gets warmer. We made a reservation for 4 on a Sunday evening and the place was packed. There are tables for all sorts of group sizes, as well as seating at the bar. The service was quick and friendly. We split the North Shore Fritto Misto, Paccheri Bolognese, Clam Pie, and Sausage Pizza. This was a good amount of food for the four of us, and I even had trouble finishing my last slice of pizza. The prices are fair, and I was even surprised that we didn't pay more. Overall, MIDA has become one of my favorite local franchises, and I'll definitely be back to enjoy a great meal and (when the time comes) warm weather. read more

We dined there last night and unfortunately left very disappointed. We made our reservation a month in advance and even called earlier that day to request a window table. When we arrived, we were told there was "no note" about our request, so the table was never honored. We arrived 7 minutes late and had already called ahead to let them know. The hostess assured us it was fine, yet once we arrived she repeatedly reminded us at least four times that they needed the table back by 8:30. It made us feel rushed and unwelcome from the moment we walked in. Our waiter was excellent and very professional, but the overall experience was uncomfortable. Staff interrupted our conversation frequently and seemed overly eager to clear the table before we were finished. Ironically, by the time we left there were several empty tables and the large party they kept mentioning never arrived!!! The food was very ordinary ,nothing special or memorable, just the kind of food you could eat any day at a regular restaurant. Honestly, the main reason to go there is for the amazing view, which we didn't even get to enjoy because the requested table was never provided.
