What started as a simple oil change turned into weeks of frustration. I hope my experience saves you time and money by avoiding this location. After the oil change, it was recommended the valve cover gasket be replaced. I agreed and the work was done. It's important to note that valve cover gaskets do not necessarily lead to visible oil leaks under the car. Shortly after getting my car back, I stalled out at multiple stops and had to bring it back in. It turns out they mixed up the PCV and breather tubes, just the beginning of their incompetence. After a driving the car for a bit after the PCV issue was corrected, I noticed that quite a bit of oil was visibily leaking out, an issue I had not had before their "repairs." I took it to a Chevy dealership, where they noted the engine was covered in oil. They did a dye test and identified leakage from the vacuum tube gasket, which they faulted the Midas for re-using parts that shouldn't be re-used and improper use to RTV. I did not even need to tell them that I had work done on it shortly before, as they could ascertain that from the shoddy job. I contacted the Midas dealership where they did refund their work on the valve cover gasket, but left me with the bill for the vacuum tube. Given the nature of the oil leak, it was stated to me by the dealership that there may be other oil leaks that are difficult to appreciate without driving it more. Sure enough, after driving more, there was leakage from the valve cover itself, the exact part they worked on the first time to place a new gasket. After corroborating their errors with a second independent technician, the location continues to refuse to acknowledge their mistakes and reimburse for their negligence. The manager Mike is obtuse and fails to appreciate evidence from the dealership. The owner Sheldon is the same level of obtuse and also arrogant and defiant about taking responsibility for the faulty work that has led to further exorbitant repair costs. As evidenced by the Yelp review from Jun 14, 2023 and a BBB complaint filed in 2024, this seems to be a recurrent issue for them. read more

In 11 months with 3 visits to get my A/C fixed I spent a total of $1,589. My recent visit 5/26 cost me $505. The condenser from the 2nd visit had a hole in it. 5/27 - my car broke down with smoke coming out of the engine. My car was towed to another repair shop where I spent another $545. I was told my previous coolant repair that a hose bracket wasn't secured back on properly, came loose, a fan shredded it, and transmission fluid leaked everywhere. The Midas manager pushed back on a refund claiming the issue was unrelated. His promise to call me back after I provided the mechanic's number (of the other repair shop) never happened either. Seeing a few of the other 1 star reviews, cars breaking down the next day isn't so rare at this location. Don't spend your money here. read more

This company wants nothing to do other than scam you and steal your money. Went in for my brakes failing as I almost got into a car accident, and they told me that my brakes were cracked, and needed to repaired SOON. They quoted me something near $450-500 for new brakes and rotors. I went to my Dad's house, because he used to be a mechanic in the Air Force, and when he took off my wheel, he gets a funny look on his face, and points out my 2 brake pads on 1 side of my rotor, and the "crack" in my brakes? That was designed to be there by the manufacturer, and anyone with an IQ higher than that of a ROCK would be able to tell, by the absurdly straight lines, not to mention these people work on brakes ALL DAY! This company attempted to scam me of hundreds of dollars (I was able to get new brakes and rotors on Amazon for around $50 when Midas wanted to charge me almost $250), and it was a free fix! This company is full of scams, terrible practice, and terrible people. Do not trust them. P.S. After visiting my dad, I have figured out that changing your brakes is nearly as easy if not easier than changing your oil! You take off the brakes, undo a couple bolts, and replace the parts! They tell you if they see any other concerns about your vehicle, but don't pressure you into buying something that you don't need or can't afford right now. In short, Midas stripped my oil pan and didn't tell me. When I finally got them to agree to fix it, they shoved in an oversized plug and didn't tell me. It leaked inside a week and they had to replace the oil pan. Long version: I've had the worst automotive experience of my life with the location at 13645 Montfort Drive in Dallas. I took my truck to this location almost a year ago for a routine oil change because it was close to work. 6 months later when it was time for another oil change, I went to a different shop closer to my house and they would not change my oil because the drain plug was too tight and they were afraid they would strip it. I brought it to Midas and talked to the manager, Mike. Mike told me that it had been so long there was no way of knowing that they were the last shop that changed the oil. I had to present the car fax and screen shots of my bank transactions before he relented and said they would take a look at it. A couple of hours later, Mike called and said they were able to get the plug out. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I again took it to another shop who told me the plug was free spinning in the pan and the threading in the pan was completely stripped. Now, Mike gave me back my truck either a) knowing it was stripped, or b) too inept to know that his team stripped it. So I thought it prudent to have someone else look at it first to confirm that it was stripped, since Mike had already either lied to me or proved himself too unskilled to diagnose and fix a problem. I called mike and let him know the issue and he asked me how I knew it was stripped. I said I had two other people tell me it was stripped. His response was "well, whoever looked at it last was the last one to touch it. How do I know that they didn't strip it". The plug no longer sticks in the pan and so the truck cannot be driven. I asked Mike to tow it from the shop it currently sits at to his shop since it's under warranty with Midas. He refused. I asked to talk to the owner. He told me the owner would call me. That was two business days ago. Now, Mike knew that there was a high risk of stripping the threading in the pan when he serviced my truck. Whoever worked on my truck knew that they stripped it when they screwed the plug back in. Either the mechanics at this location are dishonest, or the manager is. Mike has repeatedly try to put blame on others instead of taking ownership. He puts saving a buck over retaining a customer. The management at this office is a cold sore on the face of Midas. Truly a terrible experience. Update, I went to pick up my truck today after Mike called to tell me they were able to screw in a new drain plug no problem. He said they took videos of screwing in the new plug. I showed up and to my surprise the owner, Alex, was there. Alex showed me the video, nervous and hands shaking. I knew off the bat something wasn't right. I asked to see for myself. they put the truck on the lift unscrewed the plug halfway and said "see, no problem". I asked to see the plug. It was twice as large as the OEM plug, meaning they jammed a larger plug and cranked until it basically self-tapped. I had already talked to other mechanics who told me this is a short term fix and it would eventually wear out the threading on the pan. When I confronted the owner and manager, they actually told me that they build these pans to take two different sized drain plugs. The most asinine statement I've ever heard. No milled, threaded hole is designed to take two completely different sized bolts. Alex told me if it leaked in the next 12 months, he would replace the oil pan. It leaked after two days. This "Randolph" mentioned in past reviews is no longer there, but the new manager Kyle is awesome! I came in with a Groupon today (don't forget to make an appointment like it says in the coupon terms!) and they got right on it along with the courtesy check. Everyone I interacted with at this store was courteous and professional. Kyle was really cool about letting me know what they found in the check (mostly things I already have heard from other places) without trying to pressure me into doing anything. Some people come on here like "how come every time I come in for an oil change, they give me 10 other things to fix?" Well, probably because that's the only time a mechanic sees your car and is actually looking for things wrong with it! Anyway, I don't mind having things like that presented to me as long as it's done in an honest fashion. I definitely get the impression that Kyle is the type of guy you could ask "do I really need to do this?" and expect to get an honest answer from. When I complimented him on this he said something along the lines of "I still want your money, but I would rather EARN it from you over time because you are a repeat customer and trust me and consider me 'your mechanic,' not bullshit you and take as much as I can up front." Exactly the right attitude to have, in my opinion. I ended up spending like $25 in addition to the money I spent on the Groupon because I went with synthetic oil (which I should have done a long time ago). Will definitely be back! read more

I read some reviews online and this place seemed like a nice place to try. Boy, am I grateful for all you fabulous Yelpers! This was the best experience I have ever gotten while getting my car serviced. First of all, I caught them on a mildly busy day. But I was promptly greeted when I walked in and asked what they could do for me. I was treated with respect and they were very up front with everything that they were doing to my car. As I had just been jerked around with Pep Boys, I was very leery and I'm sure I was asking a lot of annoying questions. The manager was patient and answered all of my questions without becoming condescending. I called my family mechanic back in my home town and had them talk, and he seemed happy to do that! UPDATE: I've gone to get my maintenance done at this location for a while, but my last trip has RUINED Midas for me. I WILL NOT BE BACK. THEY ARE THIEVES. The night before my visit, I got a flat tire. I called a tow truck and he put my spare tire on using his tools-- I watched the entire time. The next day, I take my car to Midas. Because I was already about due for new tires, I went ahead and got 4 new ones put on. Afterwards, I looked in my trunk to make sure they aired up the spare and put it back, and my lug wrench which has NEVER been used, was all old and rusty. Obviously, someone switched it out and took my brand new one for keeps, which is of course, STEALING. I immediately asked the manager about it, who then asked a mechanic. The mechanic of course said he didn't know anything about it, and the manager simply shrug his shoulders and looked at me blankly. I walked out. I'm guessing since I'm a woman, no one thought I'd notice an old rusted tool in my trunk. Pfft! They lied to me and told me that I needed new brakes I had less then 2mm, they were running a special And I should take advantage.. I almost said yes but then I thought back I had just got new brakes six months ago. I took it back to brakes plus and McKinney where I live. They pulled it up and showed me my brake pads had over 10 mm left as if they were still breathing. My father was in there a couple months before for oil change, because we work right off of Montfort, they told him he needed new brakes he got new brakes it without asking how much. I GOT SCAMMED. I took in my vehicle because the battery was getting old (or so I thought). When I waited just a few short minutes, they came up to me and said my alternator was having issues and that my battery was fine. They showed me the "test" and said I HAVE TO SPEND $1100 to fix it. With me putting my trust in them, I unfortunately accepted (they try to play the "nice guy" acting card). A week later my car didn't start and I was about to get it towed to the dealership and the tow guy jumped my car and said this exact MITAS place is a con artist. It was just my battery that needed replacing and he FLIPPED out when he heard I paid $1100. He knows I should not have paid more than $600 for an alternator and that I didn't even need to replace it! I've been going here for about 6 years and the last couple years it has really gone downhill. I had brake pads replaced here and let them sell me the more expensive $200 ones. They were SO loud for over a week, much more loud than the "bad" brakes had been! I finally went to AutoZone and bought the $40 brake pads and replaced them myself. I also went in recently for a state inspection and they printed me a list of about $300 in repairs I needed, including a $135 serpentine belt replacement suggestion because my belt was "very cracked". I went to AutoZone and bought a $15 belt. I go to replace it but when I look at the old one it's not cracked at all! I'm a little fed up with the poor quality of service and insane prices from this place so I will not be going back anymore. read more

My experience here wasn't stellar. I had my catalytic converter replaced, and the first thing that happened is that I wasted a trip there because they weren't ready to install the replacement when they said they would be. The second thing is that when I came again, instead of the ballpark 1 hour I was told it would take (because I paid in advance), it took almost 4 hours. It would have been fine if I knew they weren't going to be ready until later and that it would take 4 hours, but I believed and planned around what I was told. Randolph was awesome! I was way overdue on my oil change on my fleet car. I pulled up and he came outside to greet me! That is definitely service right off the bat. He made everything incredibly simple! I simply handed him my booklet and he took it from there. The last place I had gone to grilled me with questions and I had to go out to my car about 3 times to gather other miscellaneous info. Plus it was great that he didn't give me a hard time about the mileage being almost 2000 miles overdue. I went to another place 3 miles before I hit the last mark and the manager had the nerve to joke with his employee that they should drive it around a couple blocks to hit the mark! Took my Lexus RX330 in for an oil change on 6/13 and today when I drove it to work my fender liner ripped off. They had to remove the liner to get to the oil pan/filter and failed to mount it back properly. These car shops are frustrating and offer such poor service. I would say avoid them all and take your car to the dealer of you want a peace of mind. Now I have to take my car to the dealer to replace the liner which will cost a pretty penny.... read more
