I've been bringing my cars to the Shell just down the street for a bit after my mechanic left. They do good work but the time frame is difficult especially on weekends. I kept looking until I saw the Midas, just a couple blocks from my house. First car I took even though I did some of the work they didn't complain and instead were like yeah if you have the parts we'll finish it off no worries. I really appreciated that. Second car called and asked if I could make an appointment, Amado just quickly said you can bring it in today I have an opening. Don't waste your time. Had a problem with my car shaking and asked them to check the alignment and tires. They came back saying it was uneven wear on the tires and my shocks and struts. I thought that seemed odd as I had barely driven 5000 miles on new tires. Went to another mechanic, tires were fine, shocks and struts were fine, but my alignment was off, meaning Midas didn't even check the thing I asked them to check. read more

DON'T GO HERE FOR EXHAUST WORK (I recommend Roger's Custom Exhaust near the Fontana WalMart) This place needs to stick to oil changes - I was having trouble passing smog and had a CAT in$talled here awhile ago. The "weld" job was such POOR QUALITY, that it failed to last very long. When I crawled under the truck at home, I noticed there wasn't a single clean bead and a majority of the pipe had be covered in welding spackle where the mechanic couldn't bother to reach with the welder. The service was frustrating at least. Save yourself the gamble of having to have the job redone like me and take your vehicle to Roger's Custom Exhaust. The staff there was really friendly and took the time to explain everything that would be done and gladly answered any questions I had. It was such a different experience. read more

First off, let me start off by saying to anyone out there that if an auto repair company charges you for the Diagnostic's test plus repairs...DON'T DO IT! Trust me, there are a lot of honest places around the area that are willing to waive the Diagnostic's test charge if you plan on having them do the repairs afterwards. $54 for a diagnostic's test is what they quoted me, when I asked if I plan on having them do the repairs, would they be willing to waive the $54 charge since it only seems fair and the guy at the desk simply answered 'No.' So I moved on because believe it or not, I can understand charging me for a diagnostic's test if I planned on taking it to another auto repair shop, but for me to pay them to run the test to find the problem, just doesn't sit well...besides, I work along diesel mechanics who made sure that I did not settle for just any repair shop. I contacted the corporate office after getting the run around. They forwarded my complaint to the owner. The owner did absolutely nothing. I took my car to KB auto in Rancho Cucamonga. They found the leak on the first try and fixed it. My car has not leaked oil since. Midas replaced the oil send switch. That was not the problem. KB showed me that the leak was above the oil send unit. The the oil cooler was leaking , badly. The mechanics at Midas were too lazy( or stupid) to check. I don't know how they could have missed it. The leak in the oil cooler was so bad that it was spewing oil all over the engine. Since Midas just wants to give me the run around, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Take your car to KB Auto in Rancho Cucamonga. They are honest and know what they are doing. read more

I called because as my granddaughter opened the car door the wind blew it out of place. I explained the situation to Amado the manager who told me I could bring the car in and he could see if it could be fixed. From the moment I got to the shop him and one of the mechanics Jose were nothing less then helpful they fixed the door and charged me nothing absolutely nothing because it took Jose a few minutes to fix it. During these unprecedented times when some will take advantage of the situation it's nice to know there are still businesses who hire people with integrity. Made an appointment online for 11 am, no one called in 30 minutes as promised on the website so I called them. I asked that they give me a high estimate for rear brakes, my rear brake warning light came on the night before. No grinding, squealing or anything (they did ask) The high estimate was $400 (this is higher than anywhere else I've ever paid) but I presumed it was some crazy situation that would result in a $400 charge. As I register the guy said, oh I heard a noise when you drove up. I said the front squeaks from time to time for years, there is no noise in the rear. I then asked how long it would take. He said about 30 minutes for the inspection results. He also said he was the only one working (so you don't have enough staff to be open and offering services?) $32 and one hour later they tell me I need rear brakes, duh! Oh, and the cost $450! No one mentioned or suggested resurfacing of rotors as most shops do. I was told "we recommend" new rotors. I told them I've never paid $450 for rear brakes and new rotors. I've paid over $500 but less than $600 for both rear and front breaks with new rotors all around at another location so I knew I needed to run for the hills. They need uninformed clients to remain relevant. While this was a recommendation from a friend, I won't recommend them. read more

Went to get my alignment, was told my rack and pinion needed to be replaced. I spent over 1,700 to repair it to be told "this may or may not fix your problem" so i agreed to not to put the blame on them if it wasn't a success. Took 4 1/2 days to repair and was told "my best technician worked on it and got it 100%, alignment comes off sometimes but shifts back to normal." Took my keys and as i drove my car off the lot my steering wheel was still crooked and my car started to shake after going 60mph. Took it to another shop, and they fixed what Midas messed up. (Get better technicians who are trained properly). Regret coming here, don't make the same mistake I did. read more

Went in to get new brake pads since I had the lifetime pads from buying my brakes about 3-4 years earlier. I called ahead a couple days an set up a appointment letting them know I had the lifetime deal when I booked my appointment. After arriving for my appointment they gave me a estimate with parts prices, I was confused for a second an asked why am I being charged for parts when I have the lifetime deal. The guy says well you should have told me you had the lifetime deal, I said I did when I made the appointment an also why wouldn't it come up in your system with my name or phone number since he had already ran it. He said it doesn't come up I have to make sure to tell them when I show up to the appointment. When running my name an number again he couldn't find the lifetime deal under my name or phone number so he had to go out an get my license plate number, he still had a little trouble finding it before it finally popped up. Not sure but it seemed like after they found out I had the lifetime deal they were trying to up sell me new rotors our some other part they said was torn but I could fix later. Maybe I just took it that way maybe I'm right I don't know. read more

I'm a Northern California resident who had an alternator replaced by my local mechanic on Friday, July 13th, then drove to Southern California on Sunday the 15th. On arrival, I had a charging circuit malfunction (running on battery for the entire 370-mile trip.) Late on Monday afternoon, I limped into Midas, and the staff there could not have been more helpful. They diagnosed the problem and even confirmed it to my Morgan Hill CA mechanic. I needed brakes for my company truck and decided to come to this establishment. I spent the day in the lobby waiting for the truck to be completed. Eddie, the site manager, was very helpful, in accommodating my needs. While waiting, customers would come in and call in to make appointments. It was hard not to overhear the issues being described to Eddie. All I want to say is that Eddie was very helpful and extremely honest with these customers as to what there options were. These days most shops will tell you need parts you really don't need, but at Midas-Fontana they keep your pocket book in mind. I will definitely be coming back to this place for future work. DON'T GO TO MIDAS! I went for a oil leak and I'm always suspicious about trying a new mechanic no matter if it is a big company or not. Anyways they told me my oil pan was cracked they were charging me 535$ and I swear they took less than 2 min to diagnose my car. So I didn't have the money and took my car home. I did an oil change my self and found out my plug washer was broken it cost me a dollar a freaking dollar. I thought big companies would have integrity and honesty but it turned out they are just crooks. I swear when I found out what was wrong with my car I wanted to confront the mechanic that attended me. But hey they didn't do anything wrong. Business is business. It's always scary to go to the mechanics for me because I don't know much about cars. Before going to Midas, I was told by another shop that I needed to change all roters and break pads on my truck. I called Midas and Eddie helped me. I explained what I needed before I went in and he told me they can definitely check it out. When they looked at my truck they told me I only needed the two front roters and breaks pads, the back ones were ok. They also discounted the roters since they were a different price than the price that was already given. I had a good experience here and would definitely go back in case something else is needed on my truck. The only thing I disliked was the waiting time but it was worth it for the price and work. read more

I am greatly disappointed at how this particular location can take advantage of people. More specifically Amado is what I believe his name is. My mother's car over heated on Tuesday so she took it to the location on Sierra in Fontana my mother does not have much knowledge about cars and is not very comfortable speaking English. The person who assisted her (Amado) was able to fully communicate with her since he spoke Spanish as well. They kept the car in their shop all day when they finally finished I took my mom to pick up the car. When I found out that he had charged her about $630 to replace a radiator hose and a thermostat I was outraged. The amount they were charging for the labor fees was just ridiculous for example they charged her $50 for the coolant and $80 for the labor of that specific task it's not right to charge $80 for something that takes at most one minute of someone's time. When we got there Amado assured us that the car was fine that he had replaced they radiator hose and the thermostat and "ran tests" in which he showed us no proof of. So my mother payed $630 for a job that could have been done in at most one hour. She drove the car back to our house and had not used it until the next day when her car over heated again and we had to get it towed. The next day Thursday we communicated to Amado that we had a problem with the service and he told my mom to take the car back to the shop so he can see what's wrong with it for free. We towed the car to the shop he then said he had other cars in front of my moms it was around 10:30 am we didn't get the car back until the next day Friday close to their closing time. Then amado charged my mom an additional $50 because he said they were supposed to replace another thermostat that they missed the first time. So those "tests" that he claimed he ran didn't tell him about the second thermostat? I'm out raged that due to this location's neglect my mother had to call off of work twice, get a tow truck twice and pay an extra $50 on top of the $630 she he already paid because they couldn't get the job done the first time. It is not okay that they prioritized other cars the second time we came when it doesn't take two business days to replace one thermostat. This horrific customer service experience is extremely upsetting and we will never again trust this business to be honest or fair again. One star rating is being generous I wouldn't even pick a star if I could. read more

Horrible service. Midas sends me coupons for oil change/tire rotation for 19.99. However it is a fight every time. Today when I went in I asked about it and even though the coupon says up to 5 liters they said it should say 5 quarts. My car takes 5 liters but 5.5 quarts so for that reason they have to charge me $2 extra when it is their own coupon saying Liters not quarts. I am proud to say that I am no longer a Midas customer. I have since moved my business. I will lastly add this experience was dealing with the store owner Manny. Don't take your business there as he doesn't care and not willing to work with you at all! read more
