I visited the Midas in Owings Mills to have a tire on my Mercedes inspected and repaired if possible. After removing the tire, the service representative informed me that the tire was not repairable. While I understood and accepted that outcome, I was surprised to be charged $55.60 for the visit. According to my receipt, I was charged $45.60 for labor and $10.00 for parts, despite no repair being completed and no explanation being provided regarding what parts were used. The receipt also did not show any tax charges, which raised additional questions about the billing. Wanting to verify whether this was standard practice, I contacted another Midas location and was told that charging this amount when a tire is deemed unrepairable is not typically their policy. To put the charge into perspective, I then took my car to NTB, where I was charged only $43.70 to have a new tire mounted and balanced. In other words, mounting and balancing a new tire cost less than what Midas charged simply to remove a tire and determine it couldn't be repaired. I have no issue paying for professional service and understand that technicians deserve compensation for their time. However, customers also deserve transparent pricing and a clear explanation of charges. In hindsight, I feel I should have known better through this entire experience, but I was in a pinch and don't deal with auto mechanics often. My car wouldn't start so I called AAA. The jump start didn't work, so the guy said I need to take it to a shop. He recommended this shop because his nephew owns it and I'd be "treated right." I'm sure there are kickback involved, but anyway... I didn't get a call before they close to say whether or not they were looking at my car, but that isn't the end of the world. They did call first thing the next day to tell me I needed a new alternator. They quoted me $930. I know I should have called around then, but again, hindsight. All said and done it was $960 and they threw in a "free" oil change. I called the dealer after the fact (their computers were down the day of the repair) and they said they'd do it for $700. So, I definitely got cheated on the price, but you can't expect much from a place like this. Their in the business of separating you with your money. I use this Midas for both of my vehicles since i moved to Maryland in 2017. Unfortunately, the mechanic who worked on my vehicle last did not return the wheel lock key after service. I drive a Mercedes, Benz and I'm forced to purchase a new wheel lock key due to their negligence. My vehicle was last serviced at this Midas and it's impossible to change the tired without the key. My tire has a bubble in the sidewall and I'm furious about the shop is handling the matter. There should be no reason i have to purchase something they never returned to my vehicle. There's been another incident where i received a oil change and they didn't change the filter during the service. I had to drive back to the shop the following day to be told they didn't have a filter for my car and had to order one. They asked me to make a appointment and bring it back. Which is something that i should of been told prior to paying for the service and driving homes. I continued to be loyal to this shop after the first incident, however i will no longer get my cars serviced here. The shop has changed a lot over the years, but this is unacceptable! Just a rip off! Went there today for checking my break. At first, they were very polite and said everything makes sense. No charge for visual checking and $39 checking fee if they need to take things out for further checking. But they should let me know first and the cost applies towards to the repair fee. 10 minutes later, they came back with a quote of $546.93 to replace both break pad and rotor. I asked why rotor and they said I must replace them together to get the "optimal" performance. I kept asking different questions based on the other estimate I got from other shops. Then, they said, well we can do whatever we want since you are customer. Then I pulled out the coupon printed online of $179 for lifetime ceramic break. Don't trust that as it's just something to entice you go to the store! The lady looked at the coupon and said if I don't replace the rotor, I cannot use that coupon. The coupon do NOT indicate that at all! So, I asked the quote for just the pad replacement without the rotor. They quoted me $270! Result? I paid for the $39.95 for the inspection fee which I NEVER being noticed that they cannot do the visual check. The other body shop just quote me the same service at $180, which is on the same range with the Midas coupon. But what good is it if I cannot use the coupon?! I am a student in the area and am far from home, so when something happens to my truck, I need help immediately. I have been once before and found them so helpful I just went again. They fit you in so quickly and have the work done in such a timely fashion it's actually unbelievable. The first time I went my cell block fell out from under my truck, they helped at a reallyyyyy good price. The other day my steering box went. Had a problem with a flat tire on a rental car and needed to get it fixed quickly. The weather was awful and I didn't want to drive back to the rental car place. Stopped in at Midas, and they were so nice. Checked the tires and filled them with air - no charge. They said everything was fine. I always bring my car here. Always. Having an older car I get that parts start to wear out. When I first started coming here I would shop around to see if I could get a better deal and I never found one. They are honest and fair and they explain their work. Recently I needed to stop in on my way to work because my car was running really rough and even though they had a full garage they looked at it right then and there, in case I needed to call work or find alternate transportation. I bought my car less than a year ago and it was in perfect condition, after a few months of driving it, I took it to Midas at 9710 Reisterstown Rd,Owings Mills, MD 21117 for an oil change, they also inspected it and told me everything was ok but not long after that my change engine oil indicator appeared on my dash board so I went back for an oil change and this time after the oil change they told me my car was leaking oil and had to have my transmission flushed soon, I drove the car for a little while and it started jerking and was leaking oil like crazy, I went back to them and they told me it was the valve cover gasket and the oil filter housing that had to be replaced so I went ahead and paid to have them replaced, for a few days it was ok but I noticed the oil started to leak again, this time when I went back they told me it was the residual oil that happened to spill over while they were changing the gasket and everything was fine at this point I knew they were lying as usual so I asked them to steam wash the engine just to prove they were just telling a bunch of lies I also took pictures with my phone, they assured me it was residual oil from the repairs they did and I was good to go, a few weeks later I checked my car and it is still leaking so I went back today and now they are telling me its not the engine oil but the transmission and I have to pay $3000 to have it fixed I totally believe the whole thing is worked out to keep you going back so they can milk you as much as they can, the technicians and the front desk person are disconnected one was saying it's an engine oil leak the other was saying it's a transmission fluid leak, THEY TOTALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING OR IT IS A SCAM read more

Called on a Sunday for a part that needed repair immediately. I called and told the guy on the phone the part that needed to be fixed, he said ok, we can do it today. I had a fundraiser that I HAD to be at by noon, but I was reassured that I would have my car finished by 11:30. Once I got there, the male receptionist was initially ready to help but started backpedaling almost immediately. He said that he was no mechanic, but I didn't know what I was talking about. He doubted that I could possibly know what part I needed for my car, laughed in my face and then told me that just for that part, it would be $300 (but is ACTUALLY ONLY $80) but that I was lucky b/c they can be $700. He put on the , "Whoa, little lady" attitude and spent another 30 minutes trying to talk to me about how lucky I was to have brought it in as the clock is ticking down for me to get out on time. Then he kept pushing the time back that my car would be finished...12, 12:30... I finally had enough, grabbed my keys off the counter & left b/c after I had been there for 45 minutes, no one had even looked at my car.
