My husband has been taking our cars here for a couple of years now. I needed my safety check done so I filled out their "appointment request form" on their website on a Saturday. Didn't hear back from anyone for 4 days, so I decided to call back on the following Thursday. When I called, there was a woman on the phone who apologized for not getting back to me sooner. She said that she didn't see my appointment request, and that I can schedule a time to come in within the next couple of days. Unfortunately, that didn't work with my schedule so I tried calling around and seeing if I could get it done sooner somewhere else. A few days went by (safety was already expired by that time) and I decided to fill out another appointment request form through Midas. I received a call that same day and scheduled to come in the following Monday. I guess it was the same woman who answered the first time, and apologized for not getting my first appointment scheduled. She then offered me a complimentary safety check for the inconvenience. I appreciated that because usually car repair shops can be very dismissive and unaccountable when scheduling conflicts arise. Thank you, Charlie, for all your help! read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR SAFETY CHECKS!!!!! They will find a non existent problem that's wrong with your car. I scheduled a safety check here and they told me that my CV boot needed to be replaced because it's leaking and it's wear and tear. They quoted me 546.97 because they said I should just get a whole new axel.. So I told them I'll be back. I scheduled an appointment with the place I usually go to for a new axel and they said NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CV BOOT AND DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED!!!! Unreal!! Midas just tries to find something wrong with your car and fails your safety so that you hopefully get it fixed with them!!! That's $25.00 WASTED.. I'M NEVER GOING BACK HERE. read more

UPDATE: Midas reached out to me and they just replaced my windshield free of charge at Ace auto glass If I could give negative stars, I would. I made an appointment on the internet and got the confirmation email saying that they will call me within 30 business minutes. Waited a day and a half for the call and still never got it, so I called them to confirm if I had an appointmentfor a safety check. Apparently it's better to call and make an appointment. Fast forward to the appointment day at 11 a.m.. I dropped off my car and decided to go eat. Midas called me 5 minutes after I had dropped it off to say that 2 struts and 2 shocks are dead. Gave me a quote of $1200. I said ok to it and they said it will be around 2-3 hours to do. 4 hours later, I had no call from them so I called them. They said come before 430 pm. Upon arriving my car was already done. Before I was about to pay, the mechanic who worked on my car said that he has something to show me first. Then he proceeds to show me a 7 inch long crack in my windshield. He said there was already a preexisting crack there and that while he was installing the struts, the vibration from it made the crack bigger. I know for sure that I didn't have a crack there before hand. When talking to the store manager Rico, he also said it was a preexisting crack so it's not their fault. They DO NOT own up to their mistakes. This place was negligent in their practice. I hope people think more than twice before going here. read more

Great Service at the Pearl City Midas Location. I see the reviews but I am not understanding why! The staff are really friendly, from the front counter to the technicians in the service bays. They are very thorough here.... I can not say the same for their "competitors". At other places they are pushing you out the door ASAP. Here at Midas Rico walked me thru what I needed to do with my vehicle and was very informative. He definitely knew what he was talking about and has experience to back it up. I come here now for my work and personal vehicles, even for a simple oil change. Honestly I would rather pay a little more over the fastlube guys to know that my vehicles are being completely inspected and if they find any issues I will be sure to be told. When I come to Midas I feel part of the family but I get service on par with a dealership at a lesser cost! Try them out yourself!! read more

The first time I called to set an appointment for our safety who we spoke with was really friendly and kind. We got there to be ignored by the clerk I believe is Charlie? It took a good bit for her to acknowledge that we were there. Zero pleasantries during the initial conversation or when leaving. We made an appointment for our follow up safety and had to call to reschedule it. When she answered she just said she scheduled it to a different time then promptly hung up. When we arrived again there was no greeting or even look up at us. The guys in the shop who did our safety were phenomenal and really helped make up for lack of service. Spoke to John on my first call and immediately went through his inventory to see if my tires were in stock even though I called fifteen minutes before closing. He saw to it that it would be ordered from the warehouse and he would call me first thing when they were delivered. He was able to get my truck on the lift right away and start working on it. We had our brakes pads replaced and rotors resurfaced in March, 2017. Eleven months later in February of 2018, we were told the rotors needed to be resurfaced again and that it's due to normal wear and tear?? We're not returning in 11 months to have our rotors resurfaced again. read more

Just had an early morning appointment--7:30 AM--to have my oil change. (Car finally passed 5,000, *tear*) It's convenient that they're open, and luckily there wasn't a lot of customers waiting. They don't really have a parking lot, seems like the back area are for workers. For appointments and whatnot, you just park your car where ever at the front. Yes it confused me, just imagine when they're busy! It probably gets hectic. My dad came along with me, since he had set up the appointment. He's done business with them and this is my first time. Seeing as they weren't as busy, and by the time I headed back out to lock my car, one of the workers were already getting into my car and started to work on it. In the meantime, we walked over to Waimalu Plaza to have breakfast as we waited. We delayed our walk back because it started pouring as we finished up breakfast, but by the time we headed back and inside to follow up on my car, they said it was done (around 8:00 AM)! Just had to sign some paperwork and pay, about $85.00. Not sure if the price is reasonable but got what needed to be done. As for getting out and parking. There needs to be a better system. I was about to reverse out but some lady blocked my car in. Good thing a worker saw and got the next car waiting to be serviced out of my way so I could get out. MAHALOSSSS. read more

These folks have SERVICE!, and YES with a SMILE! :D Since we have just moved to the island, we have been introduced to the drama of car registration process (don't get me started on THAT topic, THAT is a WHOLE different review alltogether - just bottom line a pain in the you know what!) Hubby had initially taken the SUV here to get the safety check done - but since we didn't have HI plates (i.e. HI registration) they couldn't complete the process. I called up Midas, forget the gentleman I was speaking to, but he was VERY polite and kind to me! I explained what needed to be done, and he asked if I could have gone over there right then, but told him no, cuz my babies were sleeping. He completely understood, and scheduled me for 3pm. Awesome! (seriously, not a problem! was very happy to have that!) Soooo, 3pm arrives I drive up to the place - not gonna lie - was a tiny bit confusing to understand the entrance at first. So I had to go do a U turn, then get into the area. pulled in, but was totally confused as to where to park, on the left are all the stalls for the Midas store, on the right - parking structure. A gal standing outside, approached me, and asked what I was there for. I explained I was there to complete a safety check, and she politely told me to park right behind this truck in the middle area. Then she even said she would take the paperwork for me, and when I asked an approximate time to complete she told me 20 min. True to her word, it was an approximate 20 min. wait! And the gal at the counter upon seeing twins, stated how her sis had twins, and she offered assistance. That really stood out in my mind as such a great customer service. I wasn't expecting to hear that from a car place! But clearly this place has a LOT of ALOHA!! Yup if we need service again, I may come back to these folks (sorry can't commit 100% yet - babies rule my every move!) The only ding (and very minor mind you) the sidewalk area they have leading to the parking lot area doesn't have the gentle slope down, it's a hard cut off. So yeah - a minor inconvenience for strollers, or others with wheelchairs. But I will give kudos to the rest of the experience. read more

I normally go to midas because I'm able to make an appointment. However the service is really not good at all they say they will rotate tires but they don't. I brought mu car 6 months ago in Sept of 2022 and notice that my tires were not rotated. If I could give 0 stars I would. I unfortunately had to experience the lady behind the counter three times, I believe her name is Janelle. She is extremely rude and unpleasant. She says one thing over the phone and then another when you actually go in. Today I called to check if my tires were covered since I purchased the tire protection plan on 4 tires which I purchased in September of 2016. There was a bolt stuck in my front tire and she said yes come down, it's covered. I head there and she looks at the tire and says what happened to your tire. I had just spoken to her literally 15 minutes before I had arrived. She said your tires are bald how did that happen. Look I purchased the tires from your location, I do not overuse my vehicle...why is it bald?!? Hmmmm, people I have seen and spoken to since I have left Midas this morning said, it doesn't look like they changed your tires, compared to the 2 back tires. The guy checking my vehicle said I would need to change both tires but it would include a cost of $70 per tire, mind you since I arrived, Janelle did not speak one word to me. he said the don't have the tires there and would need to get it from their location in town and that he would call me back. This was all before 11am and it is now almost 6pm and I have not received a phone call. Take your business elsewhere...somewhere that are there to help you out when you are in a pinch and not try to squeeze every last dime out of you. Drove from town to Pearl city location to get a safety because town didn't have any appointments and I always get my safety checks at Midas. Had an appointment for 1pm today, March 8 At 12:45 pm. I called to ask where to park because Ive never been to the location, and the lady that answered said the safety inspection system was down. I said "ok, what should I do?" she said again, "well the system is down so...." so I said, "should I not come in?" she simply answered "yea" and that was that. I understand that the system was down, but was no one going to call me? Super lame service, didn't offer to reschedule me, and I wasn't about to ask after being treated that way. I had a bad experience trying to correct a bad experience. I usually bring my truck for routine maintenance to Midas pearl city. I smelt a burning smell from under my hood and when I went to check it.. it was a empty oil quart. Stuck, melted by one of my belts. Like seriously how does that happen. Not only that but my oil cap was completely missing. I seriously wonder what they were doing. So I call Midas and surprisingly the call went well. Returned the next day to get a new oil cap and waited and hour and a half until asked did you want to wait or come back? I mean I already waited that long why would I leave. Anyways after looking at the oil cap they now gave me I asked the guy I waited for an hour and a half for this generic cap when I could have just bought my own? And he replied "yeah but you would have had to pay" . Lol seriously what is and hour and a half to a $10.00 oil cap. But I was given a free oil change next visit... but really If I paid for an oil change and that's the kind of work you provided me with then I can only imagine what kind of work I will get if the oil change was free. John was at the counter and again very pleasant. He was the only person there. Myself and several other customers was helped by him as well as customers on the phone. He handled every customer with the same friendly demeanor as he did me. As a former manager of customer service, I pay attention to this kind of stuff. Went in for a safety check & an oil change. It was going to take awhile so I figured, walk over to IHOP for breakfast, read the morning paper & relax with more cups of coffee. After awhile the restaurant gets busy, so I figure after an hour & a half, my car should be done. When I get back to the driveway entrance, I see my car still on the rack. So back out on the street I figure it's a short walk up the street to Starbucks for more coffee. Well, after another 45 minutes, I finally get a call from the Midas office & was told that the oil change is done but all four shocks are leaking & need to be replaced. They can't pass my car for the safety check unless I replace all four shocks. Now I'm shocked when I ask for an estimate and I'm told $1,400+. I can't believe all 4-shocks are no good at the same time! Plus, if the hydraulic oil in the shocks are leaking (especially if all 4 leaking), there's an oil stain on the driveway... but nope, nothing on the driveway. So, I pay for the oil change & advise the office that I need to discuss this situation with the spouse so cancel the safety check. To my surprise, they tell me they need to fail me for the safety check & I need to come back to replace the shocks. Well, I go to Goodyear around the corner today for a safety check & breakfast at Burger King. Twenty-five minutes later, a call from the office to advise me my car is done, safety check issued! No. No no no. I got my oil changed here, and they did NOT change my oil filter! (I was told just recently by the jiffy lube guy) Also, they took twice as long as they promised, it came out a bit more than they quoted me, AND I'm pretty sure they were driving my car around (it had about 15 more miles than it did when I dropped it off!). Then, when I asked for a safety check, I was told they wouldn't do it for me until after the 15th of the month (mine was already expired) which, I suppose, I can live with. The good? When I dropped, and picked up my car the girl at the desk was very nice, and the guys in the lot smiled and said thank you as I was leaving, so they get more than just the 1 star. My car battery died so I called ahead to see if they would be able to fix it ASAP or if I had to make an appointment. I was told they could help me, to come in, and that it would take 15-45 minutes for a battery to get here. I got here at 9am and an hour and 40 minutes later, I was just told that the battery just got here from salt lake. The diagnostic test was run and battery ordered over an hour and 25 minutes ago!!! Obviously I'm stranded here until it gets fixed but a more accurate wait time would be better read more

Wouldn't give me a Safety Check because they said my front tires were bald on the inside. Guess they wanted to sell me some tires. There was so much tread left the tire place I went couldn't figure out what they were talking about except possibly the, very adequate tread depth, might have been a little shallower on the inside than on the outside. After I failed my safety check, I called and was able to make an appointment the same day. When I got there, they immediately inspected it and confirmed that I needed to replace my steering rack & pinion, which was leaking. She quoted a price for the part (same price as Servco) and the labor (waaay cheaper than Servco). The total price not only cheaper, but also included alignment and power steering flush. They said they could do it that day, but they had to get the part, so it would probably be done by closing. Since I had no where to go, I walked around the area (lots of places to keep you occupied... food, hardware store, starbucks, etc.). I returned and sat in their office which was pretty clean and watched tv and read a book. In the end, my car was finished 1-1 1/2 hours earlier than promised. They also did my safety check for me, even though I originally got it at another location. My car was pulled up for me with the engine running. They also used a mat to keep the insides clean. Front desk was professional and thoughtful. They made going to fix my car a relatively pleasant experience. read more
