Don't trust what this shop says your car "needs." They will not tell you when something is just an option or an upgrade.

Our lives were put at risk by the work done to our van. We pay for the top of the line brake pads. $500 for oil change brake pads and new spark plugs. It was a simple brake pad replacement. The front driver side pad was put on incorrectly which cause the caliper to seize. After 40 miles of use it started smoking and caught fire. It needed to be replaced. The front passenger side brake pads weren't even new. They already had rust and wear on them. So we got a used brake pad when we paid for new ones. I have pictures of both sets of pads. Also the nuts that hold the passenger caliper in place were not even hand tight right after we took the tire off. I have a video of that. The other mechanic that looked at it. Said it could have fallen off at anytime. That put all 6 of our lives at risk. Plus the bolts were striped that held the brake in place on the passenger side. I also have a picture of that. Now all of your locations in San Antonio are closed on Sunday's. We're a touring band and needed to get to our next show in El Paso, because that's how we make money. We had to stop at another mechanic to fix the mess you guys made. Which cost us another $800. Needless to say we still missed our gigs. Now we know you guarantee you parts and labor. But after the job that I see that your company does I would never ever in my life let another Midas touch our van. Being dissatisfied is a understatement. You put 6 people lives at risk with your shoddy workmanship. I wish I could give something less than one star. If that's the Midas touch I don't want it. read more

This place was fast and fair. They changed my oil and fixed my headlights. Will be my go to mechanic!

So I came here on a Friday to get my oil changed when I got out of work early. They were friendly when I walked in and I was helped right away. They had a special going for $19.99 oil change and free tire rotation. The waiting room was a bit dirty and I had to watch Jerry Springer while I waited but I was in-and-out in 45 minutes. I gave it 4 stars because they didn't try to sale me anything! It was awesome they were professional and fast. Good Job MIDAS Men! read more

I'd recommend them for basic services - here's why: 1 - My car was dropped off with an extreme issue and they got the parts and fixed it in under one week. 2 - The servicemen were friendly and explained their work in detail. 3 - They do inspections, so if you are new to Texas, this is a convenient place to go. read more

THE worst. I typically go to the Wal-Mart auto center to get my full synthetic oil changes. This week, I purchased a groupon for a synthetic oil change at Midas in an effort to avoid Wal-Mart and also support a local business. This was a huge mistake. I called in ahead of time today to see what the process is for scheduling an oil change. The gentleman I spoke with said "Come on in! We have zero wait time." I thought this was great luck with it being a Saturday. I went ahead and drove in to the shop, dropping my plans, hoping to get this taken care of. When I showed up, there was only one person in the waiting room. I went up to the front desk and mentioned why I was there. The person waiting on me started checking me in and then asked if I had a coupon. I then mentioned my groupon and he immediately said he couldn't help me today. I told him of the conversation I'd had twenty minutes prior when I was advised to come into the shop. We found the man who had answered the phone who then mumbled something and half-heartedly admitted this. I was then given an explanation as to the importance of scheduling 24 hours in advance for a groupon and "it says it RIGHT there on the groupon itself" (thanks...I can read!). I told them I'd be refunding my groupon (am now wasting more time on hold with groupon to let them know of my experience). The representatives in the shop were flat out rude and I will never consider going back here for any service. If I could give less than one star I absolutely would and will make a point to warn everyone I know about this shop... Off to Wal-Mart I go! read more

Notice that all of the bad reviews come from people who actually REALIZE this place employs liars and swindlers, and good reviews come from people who "know nothing about cars". I wish that I could give this Midas zero stars because they literally did NOTHING for me. I went and the place was empty except for two cars being worked on; no one in the waiting room at all. The young man working the counter was awkward, to say the least, but quickly started reviewing my oil change "options"(he gave me no options, he said there was one option). I recently bought my car (2011 Mazda 3) but this was my first time getting the oil changed outside of the dealership. He told me that my car requires synthetic oil, which was news to me, and which costs $85. He said "Most people think I'm lying and try to argue." I didn't try to argue, but I wasn't expecting to drop that much cash on a basic oil change. I was still going to pay for it, until he told me about the wait. "There are two oil changes ahead of you... That will be about an hour, then your oil change will take about 45 minutes." Hold the phone. I've changed my OWN oil before. On what planet does it take 45 minutes for an oil change? At that point I decided to actually read my manual to see if my car requires synthetic which, lo and behold, it DOES NOT. Forget this place. I went to my neighborhood mom and pop oil shop instead. read more

When you go to a place expecting to have a La Cucaracha horn installed and leave with a car that plays "My Neck, My Back, My Pussy and My Crack" when you press the horn, you'd expect your money back.... BUT NOT HERE! NOPE! Here, when you're dissatisfied with the service you receive, you're threatened with, and I quote, "an air freshener up the dick hole". Not sure if this is the same for anyone else.... Also, when I bring my car to a place like this and my Verve Pipe CD single copy of The Freshman is in the CD player when the car arrives and it's not when I pick up my car, I take exception to it. I brought this up to the manager, and he says "I won't be held responsible" as if he's some kind of comedian. I swore to this son of a BITCH that by the time my lawyers were done with him, he'd be guilt stricken, sobbing with his head on the floor. I'll try to wash my hands of all of this. I imagine they'll never talk of their lack of relationships with their customers..... But for the life of me, I cannot remember such poor service anywhere else. For the life of me, I cannot believe I'd ever get treated like this. Also, I heard they almost killed a van full of people. read more

Took my car in for inspection and an oil change since the location was close to my apartment. They didn't put the oil cap on, causing my car to lose oil. If I hadn't have caught it, I could have done some serious damage to my engine. Thoughtless and lazy. I've learned my lesson and will be going to the dealership from now on. read more

Unfortunately, this company does not take responsibility for damage caused by their own technicians. Admitting that they actually created a problem that did not exist previously is not something that they will do. Rather, deception and denial are the modus operandi of this organization. You'd think it would be hard to screw up an oil change, but you'd be wrong. Responsibility for one's own actions is something that my four-year-old is learning. Apparently it's something that the owner and manager of this establishment have still not learned. Until they do, stay far away! read more

Midas provided the part and replaced our AC compressor less than a year ago. It recently seized and caused our belt to snap. So we replaced the belt and called Midas about the AC compressor. Midas said yes, it was under warranty, and that we would not be charged for parts or labor. The next day we had our car towed to the Midas shop that we had previously thought was the most reliable. Upon arriving we were told that the part was not under warranty and we would end up paying $400-$1700 for the replacement of the part. So we had our car towed back home instead. How interesting that over the phone it is free, but once trapped at the store with a car that won't even start, the service now costs hundreds of dollars. And this is not the first time they have tried to coerce us in to repairs that we didn't want or need. Shame. read more

I had a great experience at this Midas. I went for an oil change/checkup per my roommate's recommendation. They were quick, they told me I needed new air filters and replaced them right away, Darius was super friendly and polite. Only thing was that they forgot to turn off my oil change needed light, so I called them to ask why the light was on, and they said they forgot to turn it off. I swung back so they could turn it off and Darius was totally apologetic and I was like no problem, Darius! I would go back, for sure! read more

We were in town for a conference in the Alamodome and our car had a couple issues so we took it to this establishment since it was the closest auto place to the Alamodome. The staff were very friendly and professional. Since the repairs were going to take a couple hours, one guy volunteered to take my mom and I back to the conference. He also picked us up so we could get our car. I forgot this gentleman's name but he was nice and professional. read more

Called ahead to get a quote for an oil change for my particular vehicle. All was good as they printed out quote for X amount. Just as I was going to sign another employee chimed in and said that the first employee made a mistake and within a few minutes he had a new quote for me that was about 3times the initial quote. I went a few weeks ago to get an oil and filter change on my 2016 fiat 500. This is actually my first review I've ever done on anything, but I felt compelled to share this one because I was really impressed. I'm a young lady who for some reason or another ends up feeling very uncomfortable at a shop full of men working on cars. Midas was the best experience I have ever had walking into a shop. From the phone conversation I had with one gentleman before bringing my car in, to the short 20 minute wait for my oil change in between my classes. All the gentlemen I interacted with there were very knowledgeable, helpful, professional, and shared great personality. They all seemed to be enjoying what they do for a living. They even let me know I had a tiny crack in one of the boots in my car from minor accident I was in in January. I have had 2 oil changes since then and within those 2 oil changes no one cared enough to notify me or check those small details. They do a complete inspection of your car to make sure you're not missing anything. I will probably always go to this same shop from here on out. I loved it and recommend it to everyone. The service at this place is impeccable. I have gone there for about a year for oil changes and regular maintenance and they were always very quick. Last month I ran over a chunk of metal on Hildebrand and had two flat tires. I called about a dozen towing companies and they all told me it would be at least a two hour wait. I called Midas and they had a towing company they work with come get my car and pick me up in under 20 minutes. Once I got to the repair shop they looked over my car and it turns out I had also bent my front axle. They weren't going to be able to finish all of the repairs that day so they offered to give me a ride home free of charge. I got a call from Davin the next morning that my car was ready and he was so kind and helpful. He also spent nearly half an hour helping me set up a Midas account (they're corporate customer service is terrible) since the axle needed some serious work. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. Went in for an oil change, tire rotation, and to have my brakes checked. My brakes have been squealing for a while, and I'm at about 60,000 miles, so I figured they were due. They took care of the oil and tires, and called me within an hour to tell me that my brakes still had half their pads left, and would still last a while. I ended up having very little work done, but was pleased with what they did, as well as the customer service. Additionally, though they didn't end up doing the brakes, the price they quoted me was about 20% less than the next closest estimate I got anywhere in town, and I called 4 other places.
