I had a Groupon for a conventional oil change and I was unaware that my car cannot take conventional oil, I've always just taken it to the dealership for oil changes. The Groupon I purchased would make it cheaper for me to get my oil changed at Midas instead of the dealership. Well in making the appointment the rep from Midas told me my car can't take conventional oil and it would be a $30 up charge. I can get my oil changed at my dealership for cheaper than that so I told him never mind and became very rude and condescending about how I can't put conventional oil in my car, assuming that's what I was going to do. I've worked in customer service for over 6 years so I usually don't like to leave bad reviews but I was just so taken aback at how I was treated that I couldn't let go. If that's the customer service you want to put forward then I have no interest in doing future business with you. read more

I gave them one star because that is the worst I could give them. They deserve no stars. I took my car in for a groupon oil change and they said they found a hole in my radiator. There was no signs of a radiator leak until I took my car in. They also handed me a laundry list of things to fix. I just wanted an oil change. Now my son took his car there and the same thing happened. His car was driving fine when he went in. After the oil change they said he needed an alignment. When he left the car was pulling. There shop is in the back and you can't see what they are doing. It takes them a long time to do the oil change and who knows what they are doing to your car. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!!! I have been going to this Midas for at least 10 yrs and for the last 2 yrs or so it has been a nightmare. I would take my car in for something, pay a ton of money only to keep having the same problem. The last straw was I took it in for a routine oil change, they told me I needed to have my rack & pinion replaced, so I had to finance they amount for them to fix it. Immediately after they replaced it, my steering wheel made a loud clicking noise when I turned the wheel so I took it back. They said they couldn't find anything wrong, couldn't get it to make the clicking noise. I got my car back and when I left I immediately heard the same clicking noise. Was sooooo pissed, and having no confidence in Midas any longer I took it to another mechanic to have them drive it and see if they had an idea of what it was before I took it back to Midas again, just so I had some ammo, and they said that when they put my steering column back in they didn't get it in just right and that was what was causing the clicking. I took it BACK to Midas AGAIN, and even told them what the other mechanic said but instead they said I needed another part. I bought the part, they put the new part in and guess what, drove away with the same clicking noise in my steering column. James and his entire staff are so incredibly incompetent it's unbelievable and it just disgusts me. And they are so lazy, I have an interlock device and they were so lazy they actually kept asking me to drive over there to blow in my interlock device just so they could move my car from the bay and back out. They didn't even test drive it when they were done. I drove my own car out of the bay right after they installed it. I would love to find out how to contact the owner of that location but I am so sick of dealing with them. read more

I did not believe it when the desk help at Midas told me that my key was stuck and it would not come out. But it was. I had never had any problems with that. I asked if they could get it out. They kept it all day and still could not get it out. I took it to my friend and he got it out and fixed the stick shift that they messed up also. I do not trust them. read more

I report only the facts. This is regarding my experience at the location at 2428 N Scottsdale Rd on 12-6-17. It does not represent any other Midas location. Took my vehicle here for a oil change and tire rotation. Simple right? Nope. Since shops like this are often accused of not performing services that are paid for, I marked each of my tires with a black Sharpie before dropping off the vehicle, indicating what tire was where. LF for left front, LR for left rear, RF for right front, RR for right rear. After an hour, my vehicle was finished. I confirmed with the employee that the oil change and tire rotation were done. I went to the vehicle and looked for the markings on the tires. Sure enough, the tires were in the same location as they were when I arrived. No rotation done. I asked the Asst Manager, John, to take a look. He saw the markings and told the Manager, James. James goes out to the service bays where 4 employees were standing around eating and I hear him asking who did the service on my vehicle. Next thing I hear is James saying, "It wasn't done and you guys are out here eating peppers. I want this done now." James walks over to me and says the mechanic "forgot" to do the rotation. I asked how it was possible to forget when all that had to be done was an oil change and rotation. James said he did not know but they would take care of it. I then told James that it makes me wonder what else was not done properly and it lowers the level of confidence and trust I have in the work that was or wasn't done. I asked if the right oil filter was put in (I had to pay $10.00 extra because my vehicle only takes the higher priced filter is what I was told). James said everything else was done right. I told James that had I not marked the tires, I would have driven off and never known they weren't rotated and that charging me for a service that wasn't performed constitutes fraud. James then says, "It really isn't a big deal if you skip one tire rotation". WHAT?? I asked James if he was really going to cover up what happened by now saying the rotation is not needed and it's no big deal. James said it wouldn't harm the vehicle to miss a rotation. I asked him if, since it had been 7,500 miles since the last rotation, and would most likely be 7,500 until the next rotation, would it be good for the tires or the vehicle to not be rotated for 15,000 miles. James said, "it wouldn't be good for the vehicle but it wouldn't really be bad either." (The car gets finished and they park it near me and James). I told James I would have been happy to leave and not say anything about this experience to anyone or to leave reviews about it had he simply apologized and not said anything else, however, due to his shady way of covering for what happened by telling me the rotation wasn't really needed, even though I had paid for it, made me want to report him and his business so others would not be taken advantage of. James then told me I should leave. He said I was wrong for questioning whether the correct filter was installed and I was wrong for thinking anything else may not have been done correctly. Really?? I paid for a tire rotation that I was told was done, but it wasn't, and you are offended that I ask if all else I paid for was actually done?? I asked James for the name and phone number of his boss. He wrote down a name, Matt, and an email address. He said Matt is the owner and I could not call him. Said I had to send an email. I told James I would be doing that and James again told me I should leave. I emailed Matt at 11:30am and provided a few details and my phone number. Matt finally called me back at 5:10pm. I will not go into details here, as I plan to pursue this issue further, but Matt was less than caring about what had happened. He apologized for the "service error", but he would not elaborate or say anything except, "I apologize for the service error today." I asked him if he wanted to apologize for how James handled the situation, telling me the rotation wasn't really needed or how he conducted himself. Matt said, "I'm not going to discuss James with you." I asked 2 more times and for a total of 3 times he said, "I'm not going to discuss James with you." At that point I told Matt that due to his poor handling of this serious situation, I would need to leave reviews online about my experience and it won't be positive. Matt said, "that's fine, I look forward to reading them." He then hung up. I have presented only facts here of what happened today at the 2428 N Scottsdale location. I do not claim that all Midas locations would act the same and your experience may be different from mine. Buyer should beware and protect themselves from paying for services that are not actually performed, which may result in repairs being needed down the road that would otherwise not be needed if paid for services were done at the time they were paid for. My car died in my parking lot, while waiting for the tow-truck I called Midas. They were very friendly and quickly explained that they were able to service my vehicle. The intake agent was helpful and efficient. Dropping my car was a breeze. I received a detailed call informing me what was wrong with my car and given a very accurate quote. I had an appointment to get my front brakes done. which when asked around should roughly take an hour, I was there for 3 HOURS! I previously had my brakes looked at and was told all I needed was the pads replaced, thought I had the perfect setup I found a groupon. 2 hours in I was told that I needed to get the rotors machined and the manager Chris himself said "if I don't machine the rotors I can't put on the brake pads" Which at no time was I shown the roters to prove that they were so called "metal on metal" they then charged me an additional 100 for that! There was a sign that said rotors machined cost 25 each, when I asked about the pricing he said that was only IF I BROUGHT IN THE ROTORS MYSELF (without the car) that was not specified in the description. I completely believe I was overcharged and I will not be returning. read more

Professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and went the extra distance to help me with my car. I work across the street and found my car malfunctioning as I drove down Scottsdale Rd today. I live 20 miles away and had visions of having to get my car towed, being stranded in Scottsdale for hours. But, I called Midas and they were so great. Came over to my office and retrieved my car, diagnosed it and repaired it, all while I was at work. And in a short amount of time (it needed a battery and alternator). AND, gave me a break on the bill because I am a business neighbor. They did everything right. I highly recommend Chris Cooper and the Midas Scottsdale auto shop. read more

once again hands down to mike my friend there was something seriously worng with her car that would require a lot of money to fix so I said let me call my mechanics they will tell you whether it really needs that part or not they are honest ppl. so I called they checked it out in less than 10 min figured out it wasn't nearly as bad as she was told it was and they got her check engine light off but she felt so much better about the news and was very gratefull thank u mike for helping my friend before she had a heart attack lol read more

Went to Midas for an oil change and new brake pads. I called and spoke with James and he was extremely helpful and informative. Even though they were busy he squeezed me in for an appointment that same day. They were quick and efficient and didn't try and get me to buy things I didn't need like most other places do. Rip Off Alert! I sent my son to get his oil changed with the Groupon I purchased. When I called to make the appointment I told him he'd have a Groupon. They stated he may need synthetic oil and it would be extra. I told them he did not need synthetic oil it's a 2006 Pontiac that we've already had many oil changes on with standard oil. I told my son do not let them tell you need synthetic oil. They refused to use Standard oil and charged him an additional amount almost what I paid for the Groupon for the synthetic. I think it's pathetic and you take advantage of people this way. You should not be allowed to be in business. If you want to charge an excessive amount for an oil change, I'm not sure what the point of having a Groupon or coupon is. I typically go to Fletcher's and will return there. They will not only honor your Groupon price, but they also do not charge you for things that you do not need. read more

This place is Super Sketch. They have a younger looking manager that is a total prick and thinks he is god's gift to mankind. He is a total creeper that flirts with and is nice to attractive females only. If you look at the positive reviews for this place it is all females. I brought my car here a few times only because I was lazy and it was close to where I lived at the time. The last straw was when I brought in my car for a simple oil change and they do the usual thing where they call me and tell me my car is going to explode if I don't get another $500 dollars worth of work. What made this call different is I declined the upsale as usual but when I showed up I learned he took it upon himself to give my car almost $400 worth of work. The creeper manager was gone and the person I was dealing with was just doing his job so I maintained my composure instead of having a catergory 5 meltdown. I switched to Advanced Auto on McDowell and it is MUCH better. I have seen cops there the last two times I have drove by so I don't what the hell is going on. read more

Went in for a simple oil change recently. Over an hour later they come to me with a list of problems my 2015 vehicle has. Among this list is an alignment sheet saying my car is out of alignment. I found this very odd cuz I never asked for an alignment and I had just had it done ONE week ago. I explain this to the manager James and he tried to explain to me what all the readings meant and that the other place that did the previous alignment has old equipment and their machine is messed up and that if I don't get it realigned I'll ruin my tires. I refuse the service and decide to go back to the other shop that did the alignment. I tell them my situation and instantly they asked if I came from Midas. Apparently they have been getting this a lot from Midas customers. He looks at the printout Midas gave me and explained exactly what they were doing to make it look like my alignment was out. All made sense but the manager could tell I was still confused and mostly worried about not ruining my tires. So they offered to put it back on their machine to make sure. Then took me out and showed me exactly what Midas is doing to fool their customers. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!! read more

THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. I had an older pos car that they I took in a lot for repairs. They'd always find something wrong, but the car always gave me trouble so I paid it no mind. It always seemed to be leaking or a hose would break and this waterfall of fluid would rush out of my car. When that happened a second time that's when I bit the bullet and bought a new jeep. Nearly 6 months passed and I was planning a trip so I had the chapman jeep dealership check my new ride and it was in perfect condition. I had somewhere to be so I opted out of doing an oil change then. The following day I took my jeep into Midas for a quick oil change. And they came back with this list of things wrong with my jeep, unbeknownst to them that I just took my jeep to the dealership of purchase just the day before and it was in perfection condition. I didn't say anything just yet, I told them to just change the oil and I'll be on my way. They finished and I drove home, just a block away, I parked in my driveway and heard this hissing sound. I get out of my jeep and you guessed it, there was liquid spilling all over the place. I call Midas right away and he said "yeah, that's the bad hose I was telling you about. We can tow you back here blah blah blah". That's when I dropped bomb that I just had the actual dealership check my car yesterday and it was perfect. I was hung up on before I could finish my rant. Called back, no answer. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. I've given that place thousands of dollars and had to find out the hard way that they've been ripping me off for years. read more

I purchased a Groupon for two full service oil changes with the 2428 N. Scottsdale Rd being of of the four locations that would honor it. I followed this store's instructions via their website and went on line and made a reservation. It did say on the website that someone would be calling me to confirm within 24 hours. This never happened. I showed up on the day and time I requested and the man at the front counter told me I did not have a reservation. I explained what I did and he found my online "request" on his computer that I made five days earlier and said he tried to call me to confirm 3 x --- which was not true --- I never received the call, showed him my cell phone for all those calls made on the day he said he called. There were NO calls from his number let alone three of them. He told me there was nothing he could do but I could wait for two hours as a drop in. I said that was not acceptable and he told me "call Groupon and get your money back" and he walked out the door. I was furious to say the least. This store needs to either fix their online system or find a new person to handle this part of the reservation system. read more

Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior for such a well known company. DO NOT HAVE THE MISFORTUNE OF GIVING MIDAS YOUR BUSINESS. I booked an appointment for an oil change at 1:30pm. I arrived 10 minutes early and stayed on site for the work to be completed. This simple procedure took 2 hours and 20 minutes! After waiting patiently this ridiculous amount of time, I paid and got my keys to find that my car was not even waiting for me next to the side exit or even parked in the Midas parking lot but rather in a dirt lot next to the shop. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! It is absolutely unacceptable for a customer to wait over 2 hours for a simple oil change. I feel very disappointed with the level of disregard you have for clients. I'll be sure to inform any and all family members, friends and acquaintances of this terrible experience through word of mouth and all social media platforms. read more
