Love this place, Came in here the other day for a brake job. Jeff showed me the cracked old pads and how they were wearing down my roaters. He explained everything to me and not once did I feel like he was trying to up-sale me or get me to replace something I didn't need. Both front and back brakes took about an hour and a half to replace. Jeff made nice conversation in between helping costumes and checking on the work being done. Price was good, maybe not as cheap as other places but the work was excellent. Jeff also gave me advice on caring for my car. Great work and good honest advice! Jeff (General Manager) is fantastic. I came in for all four pads, with the possibility of new rotors for my L322 Range Rover. After evaluation, he noted that I did not need rotors (honesty ). He pointed out a few concerns about the front end suspension - one of which was a tie-rod about to break loose. He took care of the tie-rod, and didn't even charge me the extra labor (just the part). I am utterly shocked and confused by many of the reviews here. My family has been taking our cars to this Midas for several years now. For some time we worked also with another local shop for our larger repairs, but after frequently being ripped off, and getting the less expensive truth from Midas, we knew we had to make a complete switch. I am a woman. I am also very young. So when I walk into a shop, the guy behind the counter will immediately see dollar signs, as typically, my type is naive can be talked into anything. Now my father has taught me well, and I'm not stupid when it comes to cars. And after all I've experienced, I can tell you that Jeff does his absolute best to be honest about what he is doing, and tell you why. He's not going to take advantage of you. I have sat in his waiting room and seen him carefully explain to customer after customer EXACTLY what is being done, and in slow, plain English. Also he lists things in order of priority, being sensitive when people have a budget. If you need something you need something, but he's going to help talk you into the safest way to get out of there, and tell you what you can save for later. I see complaints here about the personality at Midas. Okay, guys, come on. You're not at a hookah bar, you're in a SHOP. We're not going to have people all smiley and sweet as candy. Jeff is a very nice person, but when he's focused, he might be "gruff." This doesn't mean anything other than the fact that, well, he's not sugary. He's not mean, he's not going to snap at you (I've seen him exercise excellent patients with rude and idiotic customers). If you really want to talk to someone sweet and soft spoken, go on Wednesday when Julian is behind the desk, as he is the congenial one of the two. But both of them are equally excellent people. Now, for my big brag. Recently I have acquired a 1973 Ford F250 Camper Special. This is my material pride and joy. I've worked on it a bit myself, but for a few of it's issues, I gladly took the truck into Midas. There's obviously going to be issues with this old thing! Boy, was I taken care of. They could not have been more thorough and more helpful, and WAY under charged me. I've come in for one or two things since and he STILL under charges me, to the point I feel like I'm taking advantage of him. I've just brought it in for one more little issue, and gosh, is Jeff on a war path to figure this mystery out. The truck is my baby, and I will only trust it with Midas. Oh, by the way, he is ALWAYS able to find parts nearby, immediately... parts for a 41 year old truck! So guys, please. Know that this is a people thing - don't treat mechanics like dirt because they're a "dirty car repair guy." Respect the people there, and they sure as heck will respect you. This is my first time coming here and I went in because I work right down the street and I had noticed I had a flat tire so I figured they would be able to help me since it was an emergency I pull up and one of the guys from outside was very helpful he told me he would be able to fix the tire for me to just go in the office and let the person inside know I walk in and he's on the phone for at least one minute apparently he had another phone call on the other line he then continued his conversation with the second phone call and he's carrying on a conversation about A customer who was unhappy and while he in the middle of his conversation on the phone about this customer he pauses for a moment to tell me that he will be on the phone for a while and so I tell him that I am there because I need to get my tire fixed I am not there to wait for him to finish his conversation he was extremely extremely rude and very disrespectful I do not recommend you going there this man has the worst and disgusting attitude the worst service I will never ever go there again thank God for Jim's tires they helped me out and they were very kind and I was in and out of there within 30 minutes unlike Midas it was very unpleasant experience read more

I checked around Thousand Oaks for a place to install off road strut shocks on my 14 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4. Two bids were about $540.00 for installation and alignment. The guys at Midas did the job for $375.00 including the alignment. In addition to that they found that 4Wheel Parts had done the previous shock installation incorrectly resulting in premature failure of the Billstien shocks that should have lasted another 40,000 miles. Been going here for a log time, today took my 2015 Dodge Challenger in cause I've been hearing a weird noise and couldn't figure it out I thought it might be a mouse stuck in the panals but didn't poses the tools to check, the Midas crew took the panals off and found a large rabbit living in the car, took him to the vet and named him Hemi :) they didn't even charge me for the service this was phenomenal by them. I've been a customer for years and have never been disappointed, but this was even better then I had expected. Definitely worth a visit if your having car trouble! read more

I have visited the Simi Valley Midas location twice. My experience is far and above anything I have previously encountered when dealing with an auto repair shop. First, I needed to have my air conditioner fixed and the counter man, Jeff, was upfront and honest with me regarding every step of the repair process. I was informed of the issue within ten minutes of his mechanic evaluating the problem. The required parts were sought out and delivered same day, I was very lucky, and my air conditioner is working perfectly! I was amazed at the difference in price between going to the local dealership and even other auto shops in town. Clearly, fixing the A/C was not "cheap" but I paid a literal fraction of what I was quoted everywhere else AND they did not simply decide to "throw parts at it" but the problem was properly diagnosed and evaluated with my consent before every part was replaced/reprogrammed. (It helped that I was in the waiting room and they could obtain my authorization to handle the repairs as quickly as they did.) My next visit was just under two weeks later. The first thing I noticed was that Jeff remembered me and asked how the A/C was functioning before I finished walking in the door! (Seriously, customer services speaks for itself.) I asked for a complete rundown of what my aged truck needed and advised him of some of the issues I was already aware of. Long story short, another same day repair journey including replacing the oil pan!! It was the first of August and I was in early in the afternoon. The shop was pretty slow and both of the mechanics and Jeff stepped in to complete so many repairs and fix my truck! The price, yet again, was literally beyond my comprehension. I won't quote prices here because everyone has different costs based on make/model and condition but seriously, you cannot go wrong with these men!! They are not only experiences and knowledgeable but the shop is tidy and the atmosphere is that comfortable "welcoming" feeling I remember from my childhood. (I am a Simi native born in 85' and raised here, so I do remember how things used to function here) Stop reading this, take your vehicle in for an oil change, or whatever repair you have been putting off, and let them work their magic! read more

All of the staff are tremendous, friendly and courteous. Jeff is FANTASTIC! Jeff always knows what is wrong and figures things out that no one else can. Went to local car dealership,told AC needs components replaced ,leaking,recharged 1100.00. Brought in to car dealership in dec,they charged me 1200.00 to fix heater issue and that AC was fixed was part of heater issue..Soooo. Needless to say ACNot working they wanted to charge 90.00 rediagnostic,another. Day wasted.Another 1100.00 ?? I do not think so! Brought to Midas...149.00 recharged. ,no leak ! Out The door...wish I'd brought in here earlier for heater issue would have saved ALOT. Of money..hard to find honest car mechanic business,this. i stopped by Midas yesterday. I was on my lunch break and notices a gigantic screw in my tire. I don't live in this area, and just picked Midas because it was the 1st place i saw. I picked right. I was greeted right when i walked in. The gentleman behind the counter came right out and looked at my car and told me they could fix it. He had me reverse into one of those bays. I don't do reverse- I'm horrible at it. He helped me and didn't laugh too much. They looked at my tired and took the screw out. Turns out it was just stuck in the tread and nothing needed to be fixed. they put the tire back on and sent my on my merry way. They were very easy going and easy to deal with. I will definitely come back should anything go wrong while I am in the area. read more

I took my wife's car there for a oil change, because I had a coupon. This guy Jeff was trying so hard to up sale he was trying to make me look dumb in front of my wife. I told him basic oil change. He did a battery test and the battery was 5 years old. I knew it had to be changed. He kept saying his battery was the only one in town that was good. And everyone elses was junk. His price was $150.00. I was laughing my ass off. This guy was a joke. I told him I buy Autozone batteries and they are fine for around $100DuraLast Brand. Jeff then proceeds to say the airfilter was bad. When I just changed it out. Again this guy is a loser. Last "Jeff", begins to explain the "serpentine belt" should be changed because it looks warnout. I asked him where are the frays and horrible looking cracks at? Little cracks being normal wear on the belt. He looked like a fool. This Jeff guy then prints out a $500 bill of refusal for me not wanting his business. My first mistake was going to Midas with an oil change coupon from Vons. I will admit that I am partly to blame for being ripped off by Jeff because I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to car stuff. During the oil change, Jeff quoted me around 700 dollars for a front brake job including transmission flush - AND that was with 100 dollars off! I was pretty shocked and he gave me some lecture about these amazing brake pads with copper or something. As I said, I am partly responsible for being ripped off since I did not do my research and compare quotes. I went ahead and got the brakes done anyway and transmission flushed a few weeks after I had my oil changed. Everything seemed fine until my back brakes started squeaking a few days later. I called Jeff and he told me to bring it by so he could take a look at it. He put some goopy stuff on it - whatever, problem solved. My real issue with Jeff and Midas wasn't until this past weekend when I had my car towed there due to a flat tire. I called Pep Boys first but nobody answered the phone so I went ahead and got it towed to Jeff. I rushed to get it there on Friday before closing only to have Jeff tell me that "the best deal would be tomorrow". I told him I wanted tires comparable to the ones I had on my car already. Without looking at my car he asked if I wanted the good deal that would come tomorrow or not so I said sure. I came to pick up my car the next day and Jeff was about to charge me without telling me how much the total cost was. Friday he quoted me 230. Saturday that magically jumped to 280. I asked Jeff why it was so high and he told me it was because it included some kind of roadside warranty for the tires that cost 20 bucks - which he never asked me if I wanted to purchase. I asked him to take the charge off due to the fact that I never asked for it. He did, which brought my total to 260 for 2 Goodyear tires. I paid and left but feeling ripped off, I went to Pep Boys to confirm how much I paid about 6 months or so ago. I walked out the door paying 198 for 2 new Futura tires AND an oil change. Like I said, partly my fault for not being diligent in my research. Obviously feeling taken advantage of by Jeff, I went back to Midas to show him what I had paid last time at Pep Boys. I reminded Jeff I had asked for a similar tire that was already on my car. He tried to give me some crap and say that that distributor didn't have that one in stock. I was standing in front of him the entire time while he was on the phone talking to the distributor and he didn't mention Futura tires at all. Bottom line is this guy would rather come up fast on someone one time than be honest and keep a long-term loyal customer. Jeff did nothing to try and fix the situation and he could obviously see that I was upset. I will never go back here and I hope people consider this review before going to Midas for any work you need done on your car. read more

I have a regular mechanic but after hearing my son talk about Jeff at Midas I decided to have my brakes done there. Jeff quoted me 569 plus tax for a brake job I Thought that was high for 4 sets pads and turn rotors I took my truck in when it was scheduled to go in and they took it apart and inspected everything. 579 plus tax I asked them since I was doing my brakes how much would it cost me for an oil change they said 129 while the dealership charge of $70 plus all fluid checks. A couple hours later Jeff called me and said that the rotors were over the limit now the brakes job was going to cost me 909. Two rotors and four sets of pads for four wheels and turn two rotors and brake job was excellent but can't justify $909 . My mechanic quoted me 850 for four new rotors pads and an oil change. I am disgusted with the service I have received here. Jeff is hateful to any female that walks into the store. I watched him demean every female and immediately change his tone when a man walked through the door. He is an absolute bully. I went with a coupon for an oil change and he told me I had black transmission fluid and it needed to be changed. He gave an entire lecture to me about how my Honda has horrible reviews and the transmissions in Hondas fail. I heard him say the same thing to a girl on the phone about her Toyota. I did a lot of research before I bought my car and Honda is highest in customer reviews. I had just received a transmission software update from the dealer.After this, I took my car to my regular shop in Granada Hills (I have known the owner since I was a child).. I told him all that Jeff had said.. he checked my transmission fluid and showed me that it was perfectly clear!! This place is full of scam artists that want to take advantage of female customers! At first very friendly, Jeff at Midas Simi Valley qouted me a price to do a headgasket. I told him i didn't have the money to do it now. So I took my other vehicle into Jeff at Midas for fuel filter change. He over charged me. Then he started pulling on my wires and vacuum lines on my engine. I asked him what are you doing? He said Just inspecting to see if you have vacuum leaks. I drove off and when I got home i noticed that he had cut a hole with a knife into a brand new vacuum line that was just replaced and pushed a sensor wire down onto the serpentine belt which caused the sensor wires to get cut and short out. Never again will I trust or take my vehicles to Jeff or Midas ever again. read more

I couldn't be more impressed with the exhaust system created for my car. My 68 Dart had an entire drive train swap and it needed an exhaust system as it only had headers. The h-pipe dual exhaust system created at Midas was a great value. It looks and sounds great. read more

I stopped in to Midas today because I was getting some loud "clanking" sounds from the suspension on my Jeep. There were many jobs lined up ahead of me (Saturday), but Jeff personally got my vehicle on the rack and checked it out. He tightened down some loosened fasteners and had my on my way in 20 minutes.
