Can't recommend this place enough. It is owned by the kindest people and the food is so fresh and made with love. I get the lamb kebab plate which comes with so much food for such a reasonable price. The owners are so kind and let me try their lemonade for free, which turned out to be the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't think you can go wrong with a single thing on their menu or from their grocery items. Extremely authentic and genuine food and people. The restaurant/shop itself is covered with beautiful artwork with plenty of seating inside .

Honestly I never realized this place was here. I stopped by to pick up late lunch. It's a small grocery store, deli with 3-4 tables. They have a bakery counter also. I wanted to try but couldn't decide. I already had trouble deciding on lunch. The menu has a large variety of items ++. The ladies were super nice and friendly. As I waited for my order they gave me a lemonade made with rose water. Refreshing. The mixed kebab plate was huge and pretty tasty.

Delicious Mediterranean restaurant, Café, and small market in downtown Phoenix. We stopped in on the way back from the airport to have some lunch. The service is excellent here. Everybody is so friendly and the food is prepared and served with much love. We gorged on hot and tasty, well-prepared and fresh comfort food before our trek back home. We ordered: - Grape Leaves (Dolmades) to share - 5 pieces - Meat or Meatless served with tsatsiki & pita. Served warm. We chose with meat. Reminds us of the authentic, homemade dolmades our neighbor used to make us with the grape leaves she would grow in her yard, which remain our favorite and our standard of measure. - Spinach Pies to share - 2 pieces - Spinach, onions, olive oil, lemon juice and spices, wrapped in a tender dough, hot. So Good! - Meat Pie - 2 pieces- Lean beef and lamb mixed with parsley, onions, tomatoes and pine nuts baked in a tender dough, hot. Mmmmm, love these. - Gyros - Seasoned beef & lamb thinly sliced. Topped with Yogurt-Sour Cream Dressing. Perfect for me. I added my tahini salad for more sauce and ate all of it. - Tahini Salad - Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions & mint in lemony tahini sauce. First time trying this and I ate all of it! Creamy and watery tahini with fresh diced cucumber & tomato with herbs. Fresh and flavorful. - Shawerma - Marinated lamb & beef cooked on horizontal rotisserie, served with Garlic Dressing or Tahini Sauce, served with their hummus or tahini sauce. My son ate everything and said it was really good! He was stuffed. - Mixed Kabab Plate - Skewer of marinated chicken and skewer of lamb grilled, with tomatoes, onions & rice (served with greek salad or tabouli). Approved by Hubs! He ate everything and loved it all. Meat cooked well.

I had the most wonderful first experience here! My friend frequents this spot, and today we were in the mood for middle eastern food, so of course she took me here. As soon as we walked in we felt such a warm welcome. The owner of this place (i'm assuming) Isam, walked me through the menu giving amazing suggestions and just a run down of what everything was. As I haven't really ventured into middle eastern food I got one of the patties (which my friend says she usually gets) and one of the salads, and it came out fairly quick and was AMAZING. Isam then came up to us during our meal and started chatting, asking if we ever came in before, and telling us the story/ the uniqueness of some of the dishes/drinks. then he started trying to fatten us up lol by having us try certain things. Overall it was such a warm and welcoming experience, like it happened around 2pm on 05/10 and i'm STILL thinking about the food and hospitality. The energy was enough for me to come back, but the food itself was the cherry on top.

This place is absolutely incredible. Everyone that works here is so kind. The food is absolutely divine. The gluten free meat pies are incredible, you can't even tell it's gf.

Popped in the afternoon. Surprised to see a mini store located in the restaurant as well. Great items to choose from. This looked like a local spot for the usuals that come in. I ordered the chicken and beef shish kebab-both had great flavors! My favorite was the chicken though. The combo plate came with rice and salad. Very filling. Maybe a shareable plate if you don't wanna be too full. Make sure to get a piece of baklava! Wow! The staff were kind and inviting. Great family owned spot. Check them out! Parking maybe challenging.

Drove by this place and decided to grab a plate to go! Honestly so good and enjoyed the service they had. They did have a little seating area and have came back again since I last went. Also enjoyed that they have a market.

Walked in and found this place on accident tbh and I am glad we did! When you walk in you see the little market with different foreign products, good selection to try new stuff. Go to the back and you'll see a menu and pastries on display. We were greeted by a nice women. We got the food in like 10 minutes and it came out fresh! The fresh baklava is amazing!!! Some of the best I've had for a while! The chicken was juicy , the steak was tender and cooked right and the mix was also full of flavor. It came with salad and rice and both had great flavor! The ambiance was pretty relaxed and they had a couple people at tables but found a table easily. It is a market mix with some food so it's not an actual restaurant but the food is fresh and good and I would definitely go back. Everyone enjoyed the food and food runner was super friendly as well.

Ask the Community - Middle Eastern Bakery and Deli

    Why no masks?

I'm not sure when you came, but the owners and all their employees wear masks.

Is this place halal? Its not listed on Zabiha.com but I asked the owner and she said all their meat is zabiha halal.

I asked the owner on Sunday he said everything is halal

Do they make their own halva?

Yes. They make everything from scratch as far as I know.

Are the falafels freshly made to order?

I'd like to say that yes, they are. I've eaten falafel there nearly every single visit and they have tasted fresh and made to order.

Is their ful madammas made with fresh beans or canned beans?

    Interesting question...are you a chef?

Can you buy Shoko B'Sakit (bagged chocolate milk) here?

    Absolutely

In our day's Sunnyslope business, our niece took us to Kris Frybread. Arriving we saw Dawn's. She said Dawn's gets high ratings too. After our excellent Kris meal I made my way to Dawn's. I am infamous in the family for my dessert rxtravagance. But I share with all at our table. Take your choice! Our niece got cannoli, I got lidded shortbread custard cups, vanilla and almond. Sweet D got a cherry and an apple turnover delivered into the box. It is five days later. My sugar intake has dropped a lot. In our home baking we cut sugar ingredients by half. Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. When I say the shortbread cup with custard was too sweet for me, that's my 21st century palate speaking. The almond cup was a buy-again item for me, still sweet, very almond. The cherry turnover was flaky, the filling tart, oozing fillng and cherries. The gold medal, blue ribbon "I'd buy this again, for sure is the apple turnover. We will return for some more flaky, apple-y goodness. The webpage makes mymouth water. I see many items are normal and mini sized. Great idea Dawn.

I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. I have literally been thinking about that gelato since I left Phoenix. Luckily this company has locations in Texas so I will definitely be seeking out this gelato soon.

Have a meal at The Sicilian Butcher and then follow that up with dessert at The Sicilian Baker. There are several locations in town, with this one being in North Phoenix. On my most recent visit, I stopped by on a Thursday. Parking tends to be busy in their complimentary lot, but you'll find a spot. Ambiance (4/5): The Sicilian Baker is connected to The Sicilian Butcher. It's a small bakery, with only a few seats. More of a grab-and-go type of spot or the source of your dessert if you're dining at the restaurant. While small, the decor and ambiance is nice. Service (3/5): A little bit of bad luck, but on my most recent visit, they were having trouble with their refrigeration so no gelato was available. While interacting with the staff, it was an average experience. I will say that the service was much better in the restaurant. Drinks (N/A): I only got dessert, but they do have coffee and a few other beverages available. Food (4/5): The Sicilian Baker is known for its cannolis, tiramisu, gelato, and lobster claws (dessert, not real lobster haha). On my most recent visit, I had a cannoli. They have your classic cannoli but also a nice variety of other fillings including pistachio, Reese's, and more. A+ for creativity, though I decided to stick with the classic. Solid. In fact, all of the desserts I've had here over the years have been quite good.
