At the end of my hike on the Appalachian Trail, I checked into the Day's Inn next to the Middlesex Diner. I had a late dinner and early breakfast the next morning. I would rate the dinner as average and the breakfast as excellent. The portions were large and the service friendly while the prices were a throwback to the 1990s. Ate here for breakfast with my wife and her family. Parking lot was pretty full but we were seated promptly. I was surprised at the prices as they were pretty low. I ordered eggs, home fries and corned beef hash. Portions were very large and I was stuffed for the $5.00 that I paid for it. My wife had the baked oatmeal and loved it, coffee was pretty good. I had lunch here today at 1:00pm. I had the open face Turkey Sandwich with mashed potatoes and cole slaw and decaf coffee. Food was very good. Service was prompt. Cost was $9.90; can't beat the price. I wouldn't come here at noon for lunch; diner was very crowded at noon. This is a very busy, bustling diner. I will certainly come back some time. read more

First time Yelp led me wrong. We may have ordered wrong - Sunday dinner specials but the food was meh. My salad was iceberg lettuce and a few carrots strips - nothing else - no cucumbers, no tomatoes... The stuffed chicken was bland (though if you enjoy a huge mound of stuffing, you may like this dish). The rolls tasted like cardboard. I'm shocked that people rated this place well. The stuffed chicken was phenomenal! I had never had anything like it before so it was a nice surprise. However, this place has a little bit of everything so you're sure to find something you like. It is clear that people expectations in this area are quite low. The restaurant was clean and the staff was polite but at best the food was below average. If you can't make basic breakfast items then I can only imagine how bad dinner would be. Save you money and go to Denny's. I can not believe I recommend Denny's but it is WAY better than the food here. read more

Really solid diner. Reminded me of the movie Thelma and Louise. (Louise worked at a diner) very faced paced and all the waitress were chit chatting about their kids and what not. I am always happy to get OFF of I-81 and we were hungry. I get excited when the options on the food sign include more than just fast food places, so we tried this diner. Are we happy we did! The diner is located near my office. The waitresses are always friendly and outgoing. They quickly take your order and get your food to you really hot and fresh. I had one of the specials today - chicken ranch wrap. It was tasty but not gourmet then again they don't pretend to be anything but a diner. Came in here late on a Sunday morning while in the area for Bikefest. It seemed like several other people had the same idea. I don't know if they are use to the crowds, but the staff seemed overwhelmed. Wait times for food seemed very inconsistent. A neighboring table got upset waiting for their pie because another table was seated, ordered, the food cooked, and served all after they had ordered pie. I can understand the frustration, after all how long should it take to get a slice of pre-made pie? Our wait was a little long, but reasonable for the crowd. The breakfast anytime pleased my wife, since that's what she was after. I was glad it was after 11, so the rest of the menu was available. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and was pleased to see very little filler in it. The food was decent, and the low prices make it a good option, but might think twice if the parking lot is crowded. read more

We ate breakfast at this diner on December 22, 2007. The food was great and there was a lot of it. The price was about the same as eating at a fast food restaurant. Our waitress filled our coffee cups continuously and was extremely courteous. Good home cooking and very fast too. I highly recommend this diner. Good location, nice parking and clean. read more

Outstanding food; never had a bad meal here. I love their seafood dishes. Their broiled seafood of any kind is great; very tasty and reasonably priced! I'm giving this place 5 stars for its cost vs quality ratio (value). For starters, on weekdays, they have a breakfast special that costs less than 2 bucks. It includes 2 eggs, toast and home fries. That's a good deal no matter how you look at it. Anyways, my parents and I stopped in here for breakfast 8/20/2012. I ordered the Corn Beef Hash and they each got the weekday breakfast special I mentioned earlier. I decided to substitute my home fries with grits (at no cost). All 3 of our meals came out very quickly and were delivered by an extremely nice waitress. My meal was exactly as I like it and the bowl of grits was huge! My parents were both very happy with their meals as well. The service was excellent. Like I said, the waitress was very nice and we never had less than 1/2 cup of coffee at any given moment. Although we didn't order soda, we did notice that the waitress was also going around with pitchers of Cola to refill her customers as well. Unfortunately, I was too full after my meal to try any of their dessert items. They did have an extensive selection of pies (Most of which appeared to be home made) I would not hesitate to return to the Middlesex Diner next time I'm in the area. read more

On our way back from Harrisburg we were given a tip by a friend to stop here to eat. Upon entering the restaurant there was a dead bird under the tree at the entrance which I don't know if that was a good or bad sign. Food was plentiful and hot. My husbands pork chops were alittle over cooked and dry. But my stuffed chicken with crab was delicious. After our meal I visited the restroom where the floors seemed dirty with a used bloody tampon on the floor. We have been dining here regularly for a while now, but if our first visit was like our latest visit, we would not have returned. Of most concern was the behavior/actions of the 3 hosts - which we had the misfortune of sitting by. Even in a pre-Covid-19 world, eating finger food (fries) then using your hand to wipe your mouth - then going right to grabbing menus and seating folks would be a concern. In today's world, it is even more so. Using the booth that was deliberately left open in order to socially distance customers as their own rest area really seems to null/void the whole purpose of leaving it empty. They were sitting right on top of us (and the party on the other side of the booth). Though there are separate bins for menus and "sanitized" menus, the menus were not wiped down at all in between uses. Face masks were constantly up/down/fiddled with to the point of making them worthless. In addition to potential health concerns was the general lack of professionalism. Should you really be sitting at a booth eating/drinking while you are to be seating & checking folks out? It makes customers feel like they are a bother to you if they seem to interrupt you in order to be seated or pay the check.... Should you really be complaining about co-workers out on the open floor, among the customers? Someone, we assume a person of some level of management, came out to the dining area and not only discussed upcoming shifts, but complained about other workers along with the hosts. We could go on, but we think our point has been made. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. The clear lack of concern for health & safety protocols, the unprofessionalism, the general slow service (in all fairness, the waitstaff was spread pretty thin) all contributed to the poor experience, as did the feeling of being in the way since the hosts always seemed to be right on top of us (seated or huddled). read more
