The first elevator on the right is the entry!

Pretty cool spot in Dogpatch! Was confusing to find (especially as I couldn't locate the review everyone referenced) but here's a step-by-step of how to find those fresh bagels: 1) Follow GPS directions to the pick up dock (2565 3rd St) which has the address denoted on the left of the large entry way 2) Walk through the big garage-like entry towards the stop sign (see photo) 3) Curve left past the stop sign until you see a grey passenger elevator on the right 4) Take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, where you walk down the hallways following the unit numbers to 308 (I believe it was down the left hallway) 5) Ring the doorbell and a nice bagel man will come let you in (and give you water while you wait) I ordered the smoked salmon bagel sandwich (chose sesame bagel) - slightly spensy but topped with pretty fresh ingredients, including red pickled (?) onion, dill fronds, capers, micro greens, tender lox and a healthy amount of cream cheese. At first bite, you can tell the bagel itself has a perfectly thick texture with a slight crisp on the outside. To be honest, by the 6th bite the toppings got to be overwhelming and I realized all I wanted was the simply iconic bagel and the cream cheese! :) Excited to have tried this mysterious bagel place (which is so clearly superior to the bagel place around the corner)!

I found this place on a Instagram reel about one of the best bagel spots in SF, so wanted to try it. At first I felt like I was Willie Wonka's factory, without the chocolate lol. It was a little confusing to find, but I called the number and the gentleman explained it right away. Here you go: Find 1176 Illinois St. the door is locked, so you will need to walk down the port (on the right of the door) all the way to the back. Go to the left inside a door. You'll get to a lobby where the elevator is. You'll recognize it when you in see a nice light fixture. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and walk to the left until you get to suite 308. And there you go! Press the ring doorbell or just knock on the door if it's cracked open. It's an industrial building, so no place to sit and enjoy your bagels, but we were taking them togo so we could share while visiting family. I ordered everything online and it was ready when I got there. We got the bacon, egg and cheese on black sesame. And the salmon with cream cheese on sesame. Definitely get it toasted. The place is on the pricier side, but they do give you a good amount of salmon. It was honestly one of the best bagels I've had! If you're willing to go on a little adventure, I'd definitely recommend this place. Enjoy!

Came here to make a major update on my review. I went to Boichik Bagels to compare. Midnite Bagel is now officially my all time favorite bagel place in the Bay Area, and I dare to say it's the most authentic one to satisfy New Yorkers living in the Bay Area

Simply amazing! I love Midnite Bagel! If I'm at the Saturday Ferry Building Farmers' Market, it's extremely likely that I'm grabbing something from them and it's a good decision every time. My favorite thing is actually their loaves! I eat bread much more often than I eat bagels, and their sourdough loaves are large, high-quality, and have an amazing, slightly bouncy texture. All of their flavors are great -- the Buckwheat Black Sesame is my personal go-to -- and their sourdough challah is such a delicious and unique offering! Their bagels are also fantastic, of course. I like that they are sourdough, and they have that bagel chew you're looking for. Great with toppings and plain! Their Everything Cookie is hearty, and their Buckwheat Banana Muffin is huge! Their granola is also so good; again, love the sesame. I have yet to try their bagel chips or scone with coffee glaze, but, trust, I will get around to it. Finally, the staff is so so lovely! Very welcoming, sweet, and helpful. One time at the end of the market, the guy who's usually there gave me a free Everything Cookie. It's the little (and yummy) things! All in all, do check out Midnite Bagel! You literally can't go wrong.

Open-faced smoked salmon sandwich on a pumpernickel bagel -- fresh ingredients and a filling meal!
    Ivonnie S.

I really enjoyed the open-faced Smoked Salmon Sandwich! The first bite was incredibly satisfying - super fresh veggies on top, and great flavors from the smoked salmon / dill / lemony onions / cucumbers and other veggies. The Smoked Salmon Sandwich portion size was also more filling than expected. I was already feeling satisfied after half of it, and barely managed to finish the entire thing by myself. At $16 currently, it's one pricey smoked salmon sandwich, but not so bad if I think about it as $8 for a satisfied belly. Next time I would split this with someone else or take half to go. The sourdough bagels themselves were okay. I tried the pumpernickel bagel for the sandwich, and also got the everything bagel and buckwheat black sesame bagel on the side. I wouldn't say they are worth a special trip out. I'm no bagel expert though - I just go by what tastes good to me and has texture I like, and these were not the best I've ever had. But I'd come back for the smoked salmon sandwich.

Midnite Bagel has been on my list ever since I saw it featured in a NY Times article about the best bagels in California. Being from New York, I've generally been disappointed by the bagels I've had in the Bay Area, but I was optimistic. We arrived around 9:30 AM on a Sunday morning and found the place surprisingly not busy. I ordered my usual - Lox, Cream Cheese, Tomato, Onion, & Capers on an Everything Bagel. My friends got a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on an Everything Bagel, an Egg and Cheese on an Everything Bagel, and an Everything Bagel with plain Cream Cheese. First off, the bagels were relatively small. They kind of reminded me of Black Seed Bagels in New York, which are marketed as "Montreal-style" bagels. But in terms of texture, we really enjoyed them. The Lox was fresh, and I liked the rest of the ingredients in my sandwich too. My friends said the egg sandwiches were delicious, but just slightly too greasy. Overall, great for the Bay Area but not quite up to New York standards!

When I learned about their closure at the end of October, I was saddened. I happpened to be in the area (11/5) and saw the door open and learned that they are still open on a weekend schedule (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) until 230pm. I scooped up a few of my favorite bialys and left very happy. Very few places make it with sliced, roasted onions. I've seen minced fresh onions and dried onion flakes, but this by far is amazing in onion aroma and flavor. If you haven't been, it's a must try--especially if you like a chewier texture in your bagel. Don't miss out!

This is a new bagel spot that opened up in the sunset area. Although they do not bake in house the bagels , pasties , cookies , and bread are great. Scrumptious and delicious Service was above and beyond even gave me a free cookie! Thank you for your kindness and the cookie was fire! I would comment back for bagel , cookies, and their bread loaves . The decor is very modern and tons of meter parking This bagel place rocks!

Poppy with scallion cream cheese. Sad they are closing.

Sadly this place is closing on 10/30/22. Tablehopper said that the owner said that the location just wasn't conducive to selling more than bagels, which is what they needed to do. Anyway - I had been excited for this place when it initially opened 6 months ago, but just hadn't been in the neighborhood... figuring I had plenty of time - but now I didn't. Today, I hiked it on over for the experience before it was gone forever. Sunday around 10am - there was zero line. I ordered a poppy with scallion cream cheese. (and a couple bagels and bialys to go, which I have not tried yet). I lived in NYC for 10 years and I know (and love) a good bagel. There have been a few good bagel pop-ups in SF over the years, but nothing has really lasted the test of time. (and NO, Noah's bagels are NOT bagels, they are steamed rolls). This place offers an interesting derivative of having the dough be somewhat sourdough (though I didn't really taste it in the poppy flavor). When my bagel order came out it was a delight, it was warm (not "toasted", more like freshly baked outta the oven) and lightly topped with a very fresh scallion-y cream cheese. OOOH - I loved it. I am going to try and go back next weekend for another. I know they sell the breads at Bi-Rite, and maybe the bagels too - but nothing like fresh outta the oven I had today.

jalapeno cream cheese and honey bagel. this one is a must!!
    Joanne C.

Their bagels remind me of New York bagels, kind of dense and chewy. I'm not really a big fan of that texture but I know that's how it's the texture is supposed to be. However, I do LOVEEE their jalapeno cream cheese and honey combination, super good! I would probably come back to buy their cream cheese alone!

    Everything Bagel ($3)- 3/5 stars
    Amy D.

3-3.5 stars, but I didn't love anything I tried so rounding down for this visit. I'm not sure why my experience was so different from the other rave reviews, and it's likely personal preference. I thought their bagels were very chewy, and on the dense side. My expectations could also be too high since I'm searching for a New York style bagel on the West Coast. Midnite Bagel has a booth at the Ferry Building Farmer's Market on Saturdays, and they are located by the front entrance on the left hand side. There was a short line at 10:30am on a Saturday, and they had their full selection of bagels available at that time. I tried: -Everything Bagel ($3, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=XWExEh10DDKwxZK5RCwbmQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Everything bagels are my go to, but I thought this version was just ok. As Yelp friend D.wight L. mentioned in his review, this bagel is super aromatic, and has a strong onion/garlic smell. As mentioned above, this bagel was too dense and chewy for my preference. Worth trying once though! -Buckwheat Black Sesame ($3, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=kCFMhk7oYCHA5ioltfQgLw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I liked this bagel better than the everything since the flavors were more subtle, and I thought the consistency wasn't quite as dense. The buckwheat gave it a subtle nutty flavor, and this bagel was very unique. I used my own cream cheese at home, but would want to come back and try a toasted bagel with their lox cream cheese spread. Their staff were still wearing masks although the mandate has been lifted, and they had hand sanitizer. There wasn't a designated seating area, but there were places to sit outside around the ferry building (not fancy, think cement ledges). Parking around this area can be incredibly tough during the weekends, and the metered parking spots that are closer are pricey. There are also a couple of parking garages nearby.

At Stonestown Farmers market Sundays. I noticed their kiosk recently. Bought two cinnamon raisin bagels today at $3.00 each. Very dense and chewy. Plenty of golden and dark raisins. We ate them with our cups of Joe outdoors in the sunshine at Peets.

We found Midnight Bagel at the Sunset Sunday farmers market at 37th Avenue and Ortega! also at Rainbow, Bi-Rite, Mollie Stone, Epicurean Trader... one more week to shop on Irving Street...closes Sunday 10/16.

I've been looking for a place in town that delivers the same type of meals I'd find in Katz's (nyc), and Wise Sons is good!!! I've had plenty of egg-salad disasters, sandwich and otherwise, and I'm normally a very gun-shy person, but if a place has egg salad on its menu, I'll probably order it. Wise Sons always has egg salad on its menu. The problem is that it didn't have any egg salad on hand the first two times I came here.* Whatever I had instead, both times (and I had something different each time) was delicious. I don't know why I haven't tried the latkes yet. I guess I'm not a very wise son. The place is old school and feels perfect inside. It won't transport you magically to the past like many killer authentic interiors will, but it's very easy to imagine what the inside of this store looked like in 1941 or whenever. There was never more than one other person dining in each time I came. Maybe it's because I came so late in the day? More people would make it feel like a convivial breakfast destination. Empty, it feels like a good place with good food. Yes, it's overpriced, especially with all the delicious food you can get for cheaper within a few doors of this business on 24th Street in the Mission. But Wise Sons. It's a thing, a thing I'm glad I got wise to. *Did they sell out? Just didn't bother to make it? Who orders egg salad in the 2020s, anyway?

I ordered extra lox, because I've been told that the quantity wasn't there. I will say that I was glad that I ordered extra, because I think it made for a pretty tasty bite. The bagels are boiled, so there's that pillowy bounce. What I absolutely enjoyed about this big experience is that it's not basic. It's refined and elevated. Herb, lemon, lox is the way to go! Yes, spend the extra money and get the extra lox. Lemon aïoli, tomato, red onion, you can tell why this is just absolutely perfection! I enjoyed the bagel and it definitely is better than others that I've had in and around the general area. The ingredients/toppings are fresh, I just wish they were a little bit more generous on their own. The lox is pretty tasty, and I can tell you that I'm generally pretty picky, and this really stepped up to that plate. Update to a Formerly Glowing Review…read more This is an update to what was once a glowing review of my beloved Pizzahacker. I've been going for many, many years (close to 10--or more?), so it pains me to say that some changes under new management have shifted the experience for me. Jeff Krupman, the founder and chef (who ended up being a friend!) sold the business to one of his longtime employees a year ago or more ago. (He still owns the Mill Valley location). While they tried to keep a lot of things the same h feel noticeably different. It's interesting that it still shows his name as manager. Here's what I've noticed--not in a good way: The menu now feels overwhelmingly meat-forward, with a dearth of thoughtfully designed vegetarian pizzas. I have mentioned this to Jesse (longtime staff) and a female server, asking them to pass this along. Each pizza also seems to have several more ounces of (still very delicious sourdough) dough. The crust is significantly thicker, and there's simply more of it. What once felt light and beautifully balanced now feels heavier. Vegetarian options are largely reduced to subtraction of meat . I've spoken with longtime waitstaff (including Jesse) and asked that this feedback be shared with Juan, the new owner. One server suggested I could just order a pizza without the meat. But a thoughtfully composed vegetarian pizza is very different from a meat pizza with ingredients removed--and at $24, paying full price for a pizza minus its main topping feels unfair. Perhaps there could be a cheaper option availabile for meaty pizzas without the meat. Please consider making The Summer Fave year round, bringing back the Inside Out, and/or creating more pizzas that don't center around multiple meats. Also, I know that the new management has changed some of the ingredients that made their pizzas so special and delicious. In particular, the sausage on the Yo Vinny, which used to be house made is now closer to the generic sausage you'd find at Pizza Hut. Loses so much of the experience to change to these cheaper ingredients. (I lean vegetarian as much as possible but make occasional exceptions, so I know this!) I used to go to Pizzahacker weekly and look forward to it with genuine excitement. Now, while I still enjoy the occasional pizza, that sense of anticipation is gone. I do want to say I'm grateful that my beloved Intermezzo salad remains unchanged--and I still care deeply about this place. I love PH--please consider the earnest pleas of a longtime customer who has eaten there many dozens of times.

Bagels were fresh and tasty, and the service was fast and friendly. There isn't too much to say…read moreabout this bagel spot: if you're looking for great bagels, quick service, and a friendly team, I'd definitely check this place out. Okay... I guess I should elaborate a little more for all y'all faithful Yelp readers. I tried a couple of different bagels at Noe Bagel. The sesame and everything bagels are both generously coated, with a beautiful outer crust that has just the right texture. The inside is soft and chewy. It's a classic New York-style bagel that will satisfy even your strongest bagel cravings. The mini bagels maintain that same excellence, just in a smaller form. Because of their size, the crust-to-center ratio gives you more of the micro-blistered snap that I love about bagels. Personally, I'd choose two or three minis over one regular bagel. The cream cheese is also excellent--well-balanced and smooth. My favorite is the blueberry cream cheese. It has just a hint of sweetness that brings out the richness and creaminess of the cheese. And, like many spots in San Francisco, they offer a sourdough bagel. It's quite different from their sourdough bread, but I enjoyed it. If you're visiting, I'd recommend giving it a try. For my everyday go-to, I'd stick with a classic sesame or plain bagel, but Noe Bagel has enough variety to keep things interesting if you want to switch it up regularly. As a bonus, they sell day-old bagels by the bag for $4. You can freeze them, eat them as-is, or repurpose them into bread pudding. You'll end up with an interesting dish thanks to all the different bagel varieties mixed together--but that's part of the fun!

If you are ever in Noe Valley, OR if you're in SF and craving a great bagel this is your spot to…read morego. Hands down one of the best bagels I have ever had! Small business owned by the baker himself, many different flavored bagels and spreads to choose from. They also offer bagel dogs which I have yet to try. If you're lucky enough to snag a pesto bagel before he sells out, it will change your life. My go to: pesto bagel with sun-dried tomato spread and sprouts. I have tried many bagel locations, even prefer this spot over boichik in the city. The owner is so kind and well worth supporting! Parking can be difficult around this area, but it's worth the 5 - 10 minute walk.
