Came here during the week for brunch and their Banana Caramel French Toast was delicious, it was a nice and smooth texture, I recommend. I tried a sip of my friend's Horchata Latte and it was delicious as well. I had tried their Mexican Hot Chocolate and it was my first time ever trying Mexican Hot Chocolate, and I'm addictive now! Haha. I didn't think too much of it but I had ordered me a chocolate muffin and didn't care whether it was warmed up or not and they were nice enough to have it slightly warm for me which I thought was thoughtful :). Stepping into the cafe felt like I was in a different country. The layout was spacious and welcoming. The area to order was walk up and had a kiosk to make things simple. I had a to-go order pick up and the packaging was cute, I always love when they write my name on the bag, it feels like an extra step to make it feel personal/special. I got the tuna bagel sandwich and an iced coffee. The tuna was perfect with the bagel giving almost a charcuterie/pate and cracker kind of vibe. The coffee was cold and strong. Prices are fair. Decided to walk on the wild side & get Avocado Toast on a bagel instead of bread slice. Woohoo. Good choice. Toasted everything bagel, greens & perfectly ripe avocado. A lot of cafes serve underripe tasteless avocados, not here. I wish there was more avocado & less greens, purely subjective. L's Cafe is on 24th street, in the authentic Spanish speaking portion deep in the Mission District. Think I was the only person incapable of forming an entire sentence in Spanish. If someone had asked me where the library is, I'd be all over it. I forgot to bring something to read so I enjoyed listening to the loud talker across the way. Isn't there always a loud talker? The group was planning a show at the nearby Brava Theater. Actually, she was planning the show and her posse listened. The cafe is pretty shop worn, filled with some really nice paintings & a whole lot of kitsch. Cuckoo clock, giant plastic pizza slice woman with crossed legs wearing knee socks & some really expensive Dr Martins. Order counter is up a couple steps, but if you can't navigate, there's also a computer screen for ordering. The counter has a coffee cup on its side with faux spilled coffee. The signage reminds me of the lone cafes I'd find along a back mountain road leading to Tahoe. They used to have access to a back patio during COVID, sadly no more So if you happen to be at Benjamin Moore picking out colors, cross the street & have lunch. Super friendly service. No regrets. I originally came here as part of TotMW, circa 2018 or 2019--it was definitely before COVID--and it was just sitting there in my bookmarks. Then I unexpectedly moved to the Mission, so I needed to try it at least two more times, this time as a local. It's a friendly place. The people who work here are universally nice, and they do a good job of cleaning tables and keeping the place tidy. My only real criticism of the space itself is the godawful way they mismeasured before adding the seat padding, so they cut out individual holes in the padding for the electrical outlets. It looks so bad! The food is very good. I normally stick to the vegetarian breakfast burrito, but I've had other breakfast items as well, and everything is good. It's not the best value for the price, but they don't really skimp on anything. I've spent quite some time reading here, and especially in the late morning or after the lunch rush, it feels fine to take up space without ordering more. Just be aware that seating is limited, and also that it's a family-friendly place, so there are often small children running around and laughing. If you are on 24th Street and are looking for a pleasant place to hang out for a while, L's is probably the best spot in the neighborhood to do that. read more

Food was ready within 10min after making order. Very filling sandwich with crispy bacon, tasty ham and crisp lettuce. Fun to switch from savory sandwich to sweet fruit to creamy egg and potato salad until it was all gone. Work from home is nice when you can get a great lunch so quick and easy. read more

They make bomb coffee. They have great breakfast and lunch options. Their sweet treats are a delightful indulgence. They're a local hang out spot for many Natives. They have an outside patio. I stopped fkn with Philz long before they closed bc this spot just felt more...real and the coffee was more reasonable for the quality and the friendly service. Do yourself a favor. As I was leaving, I smelled something cinnamon-y like French toast... smelled so good. This is a quaint little cafe with incredible food. I had the chipotle chicken bagel and have to say, it is the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. My husband also thought his burrito was fantastic. This is L's Caffè, but it's a W in my book. Super friendly staff will remember you after the the 3rd visit. So long as you don't mix it up on them too much, they'll probably remember your order too. The spot to order is just up the landing past the covid era kiosk. They are open earlier than most spots along 24th. Their breakfast bagels are solid, and they offer a decent range of pastries. Their menu is pretty hefty. I'm a to go guy myself, but the dining area is pretty cute and full of kitch. They even have a working cookoo clock. It's a neat place, lots of room and space, with Wi-Fi. I would recommend this as a good place to get some work done! I have not tried any food, just coffee. Based on the recommendation, I opted for the Mexican Mocha Coffee which is not typically something I order. He mentioned it was a little sweet, and I asked to dial it back a bit. Overall, good coffee - hit the spot for me. If I had it at the original sugar level, it might have been too sweet... like a dessert. read more

I had the orange sesame salad, which was a generously sized salad with a lot of chicken and some nice garlic bread. Definitely very filling. Been here a couple of times, both times for brunch/lunch food. I really enjoyed the food I ordered. I had two different kind of bagels, the butter & jelly and the blueberry bagel with jelly and cream (only the butter and jelly is pictured). My favorite of the two was the butter & jelly, it was affordable and I only needed one to get me satisfied. The blueberry with jelly and cream was also good but I would t get it twice. For lunch food, I ate the Cuban sandwich. This was also very filling. I was able to save a half of the sandwich for a later time and it still tasted great. This place is easy to miss, in the middle of a lot of stores and doesn't have a big flashy sign but it's definitely worth the visit. The contactless ordering booth was really nice, super easy to use and got my order in quick. Overall very pleasant experience, would recommend. read more

This is one of the quieter eateries on 24th, certainly an area that has no dearth of restaurants both good and bad. This one was somewhere in between, a semi-hidden deli and coffeehouse that I stumbled upon as the street was being demolished. I'm not sure why I entered since I could still hear the jackhammers from the inside, but I figured I could get some lunch anyway. I went with the $11.50 Orange Sesame Salad with Grilled Chicken which was a decent enough mix of romaine lettuce, Valencia oranges, toasted almonds, and sesame seeds with a balsamic vinaigrette (photo: http://bit.ly/2Wdp6AC). We lived in The Mission for a month, and I'd like to proudly boast that this is my neighborhood spot. L's has almost everything on their menu - coffees, bagels, salads, breakfast burritos, sandwiches, parfaits, honestly they do it all, and usually that's a negative for me, but not here! They do it all pretty well and with really awesome service. We came here at 6am on Xmas Eve day to pick up some pre-hike goodies and they were enthusiastic and accommodating.
