09-19-2025 We came to Austin to visit our brother. He recommended this place for a lunch gathering. Glad he did; everyone in our party enjoyed what he/she ordered. The food was extra delicious due to Saki's attentiveness and superb service! I look forward to dining here again the next time am in town. My friend and I came on a Monday evening a little before 6, and I think we were the only ones in the restaurant, so it doesn't get too busy too fast on weekdays. But we were quickly sat and the servers were super attentive and friendly. We ordered the deluxe sushi combination to share among two people, which was kind of the perfect amount. We were really full st the end and had some pieced left over, but I don't think it would be enough for three people. The miso soup was so delicious. It wasn't too salty and it was the perfect thing to start the meal with. And the ginger salad was pretty good. But the ginger dressing was more watery than im used to. The nigiri was really good. They give decent sized pieces of fish on top of decent amounts of rice. You can tell the fish is of decent quality, but it's also not the best I've had. Like it isn't as buttery as top quality fish. But it's still really good, especially for the price. The rainbow roll was pretty decent. Its like a California roll but with some fish on top. And the Marilyn Monroe was decent. It was pretty big in terms of size, but I feel like the spicy tuna kind of had a bitter aftertaste. Overall this is a nice spot for a more casual type of sushi meal. It got to a point where the servers where checking on us a little too much though. Like we would constantly have to stop mid conversation to assure the servers everything was tasty and that we didn't need anything else. But I guess I prefer that over not being checked on at all. But yeah def wanna try some of their other food like their yakisoba or katsu next time.

Midori Sushi is located a good 20-30 minutes from downtown Austin, but it turned out to be an excellent lunch for us. It's located in a strip mall and looks nondescript from the outside. Inside, its a large restaurant with cool private wooden booths, conventional tables, and a few Horigotatsu tables where you dine on a recesses table and rest your feet on a shallow pit. Its also very close to Austin Aquarium and Indigo Indoor Playground. The menu is huge and the portions are very generous and top quality too. * Kid's Teriyaki Bento came with Cali Roll, rice, and a tempura shrimp, served in a ceramic boat. * I got the Nigiri combo - 8 pieces of fresh nigiri and they include a full Rainbow Roll, where most places offer cheaper Cali or Spicy Tuna Rolls. * Salmon Bento was similarly huge - 2 nigiri, some Cali Rolls, and some Tuna Maki with sauce. You can tell this place is generous with throwing in sushi for the sides. Service was friendly as well. Definitely recommend and worth the drive from downtown Austin, even if you have no plans to visit Austin Aquarium.

Went here for dinner with a friend and it wasn't too busy on a weekday evening. We got the sushi deluxe combo and split it between us. The miso soup was yummy and I ate that so quick before I took a picture. The salad was ok. The dressing was very ginger heavy and it wasn't typical dressing I really enjoy. The sushi deluxe combo was a pretty good deal, but I feel like the fish on the nigiri wasn't as fresh as some places I've tried. The salmon wasn't buttery and fall apart as you chew it. However, the staff were friendly and it wasn't a bad place to grab a bite of sushi.

The bento boxes here are solid! The special is only for lunch, but you get a decent amount of food for ~$16. Pretty small and quiet restaurant when I was there for Saturday lunch, although I'm not sure if it gets busier other times. If you're craving some bites of sushi mixed with some bento box fare, definitely come check this place out.

How I have missed Midori. I am not near this wonderful restaurant... It has been too long... But they knock out some wonderful and very tasty sushi. My go to is the dances with salmon, which is a wonderful handmade roll . Throw in a couple pieces of Unagi along with a little piece of red snapper and you have a wonderful meal. Miso soup is always good. Staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was packed, but still delivered. Nice vibe. Excellent service @. Fresh and tasty sushi. Good service... fair price. Looking forward to my next visit

I met a friend who I hadn't seen in a very long time at Midori. She had been traveling and moved around for a bit for a while until she moved back to Cedar Park area. She suggested we meet halfway from where I live and I'm glad she did. When I used to live near 183/Anderson Mill, this used to be my go to sushi place in the area. Always high quality and great options. They also have the inside decorated really well with cultural elements. The paper menus were easy to understand, but we didn't realize they wanted us to use those really big menus to mark what we wanted b/c it felt like a waste of very nice menus! I'm glad to be reminded they have a good lunch menu as well. I've never had a broiled snapper bento box (usually I get salmon if I get a bento box) and it was really well done! My friend got the spicy salmon roll and said it was pretty spicy! I look forward to eating there again when I'm in the area.

We haven't been here in years! To be honest I wasn't excited when I saw the menu but my family wanted sushi and we were in the area. We dined outside at their one table (it's larger though). Their salmon roll sashimi combo was beautiful and plentiful! (See pic) One person got the Unaju (grilled eel) and said it was sublime and amazing. (Pic) Kiddo got 2 California rolls. They were large and made well. (Pic) I had the beef yakisoba. It was fine. I ate it all and no complaints but I wouldn't get it again. We will return I'm sure. The food is sooooo good. The atmosphere is perfect day or night. And the staff is very friendly. I can't for more than a week without their bulgogi.

Upon entering we immediately welcomed into a space well decorated and giving a traditional calm Japanese vibe, with low volume upbeat background music. Not noisy and easy to have conversation. Tables were set with paper sealed chopsticks. We were asked for our drink order immediately and served perfectly prepared miso soup with the beverages. I ordered the lunch special Bento Box with the red snapper and the add on sashimi for $5 more. This was a lot of food ! Great value. Hot green tea was excellent. As was every bite of the meal. Very pleasant staff. I highly recommend this business, and the great price weekly lunch special 11:30-2:30. I will definitely return.

Service was amazing so sweet and great food definitely would recommend 10/10 amazing lunch!

I came here for a lunch specials and the food was served within 10 minutes. The atmosphere is great and the food tastes fresh. For roughly $11 I would have to say it's excellent value. It's pretty rare to have my satiety fulfilled with one entrée. I would highly consider returning. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there's nothing unique enough for it to stand out. If it weren't such a long drive from home I would find myself here to get my sushi fix. read more

My husband and I ordered the heavenly roll, which was amazing and very light. The Ahi tower- huuuuuuge portion and tasted amazing. The superman burrito- very interesting and fun! All of it was absolutely delicious and portion sizes were great! Would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I knew this place had to be good when my friend and I arrived to a packed house. We were not disappointed! We ordered lunch specials and noshed on a Texas roll, Phoenix roll and a Candy Cane roll - all of them were delicious, with their own unique flavor. My BF and I went here for dinner tonight. The two things that struck us the most: the unagi hand roll was AMAZING, and the quality of the yellowtail was excellent. It's a fairly small restaurant, and the environment was warm and inviting. We're lucky enough to live close by, so I think we've found our new favorite sushi spot! read more

My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for over 6 years. The food is fresh, tasty and they are always creating new rolls. Very clean and the staff is great. Been coming here for a while for lunch. I find the restaurant is always clean and the staff attentive. The sushi is pretty good. Never had to question the freshness of the fish. The spicy murphy is my goto when I am really hungry. It is a rather large roll. I have only had a non sushi item once there. It was the bulgogi (beef). Have had much better elsewhere. I do recommend the sushi though. read more

I came here with my family to have a celebratory dinner, and it was a great place for it! We ordered the candy cane, Marilyn Monroe, and paradise rolls. My mom loved the paradise roll--I would definitely recommend it. The candy cane was a little creamy/heavy for my taste though. In addition to the rolls, we ordered a chicken yakisoba, which was unfortunately subpar. The couple sitting next to us ordered a rice dish--it was HUGE and looked so good! We're getting that next time for sure. In terms of the restaurant staff, they were attentive and helpful. Couldn't have asked for more! They even greet you in Japanese when you arrive. The restaurant itself had a nice ambiance, very clean. They even had these cool little booths! We'll be back!! read more

Best sushi in town! We live in South Austin (way south) and gladly make the long drive to Midori in North Austin. As a matter of fact, Midori is the only sushi restaurant we go to because we know that it will be an outstanding experience with great quality fish and great service. We've been coming to Midori for years and never had a bad meal. I highly recommend it!!! read more

We were told they absolutely could, just let the server know when we arrive. We were seated, and let the server know right away. He immediately responded with a heavy negative tone saying that he wish they would have told him ahead of time. The entire meal he seemed put off that we had special requests, and only seemed to change his tone when we were close to paying. Simply based on how he treated the situation, we won't be back. Too many places out there that are more accommodating and understanding.

I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. When I saw the side compartment, I paused for a second and thought, is that soup? Then I realized it was actually the onion, egg, and soy mixture that goes with donburi. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth. Because of the texure closer to a desn flavor croth it did not cling to the pancake as much, not like how naan would scoopt up the curry, but it still paired very well, and works nice with the katsu, too! I have no idea what the people rating this place above 2 stars are thinking. This place is TERRIBAD. It looks like a typical sushi place when you walk in and has cool private booths you can sit at, but everything else about this place is a joke. We ordered 2 plates of sashimi and a couple rolls. When we ordered, we asked the waitress if she got that we wanted 2xSashimi plates + 2 rolls, and she assured us she understood our order. I also ordered a beer and my girlfriend ordered a glass of white wine. The food came out and sure enough, only 1 plate of sashimi. We had just driven in from Houston and really just wanted to eat some good food, so didn't even care that we would have to wait for it, we just wanted to get some more food on the table. We asked our waitress if there was another plate coming out and she whipped out her order notebook in a panicked manner and pointed at our order stating "you no order!! you no order!! yo only order THIS!" I should have tried to food before ordering more, because if I had know how bad it was I wouldn't have bothered. Besides being cut way too thick, the sashimi was FROZEN inside! Not completely frozen, but there were definitely ice crystals inside my food. Fail. We ordered a couple rolls as well and both were soggy with no texture and covered in eel sauce that tasted like it was about to go bad. I guess we scared the waitress off when we ordered more food (????) because we never saw her again. The next time I saw someone was when I flagged another passing waiter down for the check. No refills on water, no refills on my beer or my girlfriend's wine. Frozen sushi. Soggy rolls. No one ever checked on us at all. Terrible service. read more

My first experience at Midori was on my 2nd date with my now husband almost 4 years ago! For the next year we ate at Midori every weekend until, sadly we had to move away from Austin. Now we live in Dallas and we come back to Austin at least once a year specifically for Midori Sushi! We cannot get enough! Every time we are there we BEG them to open up a 2nd restaurant (or just move this one) to Dallas! Even though it's in a strip mall with an abandoned Albertson's, once inside you are transported to the wonderful world of delicious sushi and wonderful atmosphere. You will forget that it's located in a strip mall once inside. The Midori Boca Raton roll and the Texas Roll are literally the #1 and #2 things I have EVER eaten. This is not only the best sushi in Austin, but it would have to be some of the best sushi in Texas if not America. We have tried for the past 2.5 years to find a place that is as good in Dallas, but we cannot do it. Midori has no competition, I have not eaten anything (sushi or anything else) that comes close to the deliciousness of this place. Everyone is so friendly, and I love the intimacy that is created inside. I LOVE THIS PLACE. It is worth the drive no matter where you are. And, if you think you don't like sushi, go to Midori and order the Midori Boca Raton, Texas Roll, Ryan Roll, and Caterpillar Roll. You will be a sushi convert! read more

I am having a wonderful lunch at this cute little restaurant three minutes from my house. I am trading my seven-year-old granddaughter to a Wonderful and amazing $14 Bento Box lunch. What A bargain. Grocery store sushi cost almost the same price and certainly Doesn't he have the variety of this wonderful feast. I try to eat here at least once a week and usually it's what I do times a week. It is my pleasure is my treat to myself. It is the A Bento box call has five compartments each with a different treat. It's really pretty cool to look at. So mine includes gone: of tempura dhrimp, sushi, salmon roll, California rolls, PLUS, they also serve you miso soup and a Wonderful vinegar/Sweet salad. Are usually have to carry a take-home box. In summer It is in a perfect location, at 183 and Anderson Mill Road - - right next to the big golds gym. Tons of parking. In summary this is one of my favorite restaurants on. Some people might criticize me for getting "stuck "ordering only this particular tempura Bento box when there are hundreds of other items and options, but I am a creature of delicious habits. Updated Review I'm a reasonable person so I'm going to update this review. Chris did eventually refund my money and asked me to update my review. The bottom line is that the reviews on the place are bought and therefore skewed. This is not high quality sushi. If you're looking for that this would not be my recommendation. I can not in good conscious recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for sub par sushi that's slightly over priced then go here. I just can't get behind misrepresentation. I know owning a restaurant is not easy, but if you're not passionate about it then do something else...... Midori if you want to win at the sushi game done try to out smart your customer. Provide them quality food at a fair price. Initial Review: They give 10% off for people to review them. Uni, EBI, octopus all bad. They buy their reviews and it's not an accurate depiction of their product. If you read beyond the fake reviews you'll see more reviews inline with what I'm saying! The first time a friend invited me to go out for sushi I was a little bit wary. We went to Midori Shushi and I've become a regular. There is a common misconception that all sushi is raw. This is not the case. Many of the items are cooked. One day I got adventurous and tried one of their specials of the day, live scallops, well almost live. They sliced 'em up just before they serve them. Mmmm good. What is really cool is when you sit at the sushi bar. They recognize you and even give you some special samples. Last Christmas my wife and I got some fancy chop sticks as a gift. We keep leaving them at home in our china cabinet. I think we need to move them to the glove box now. If someone in your party does not want to be so adventurous they can still get some regular Chinese food. I've tried many sushi bars around town, in Hawaii and on a cruise ship. Nothing compares to Midori! read more

This is a gem. The waiters are fully bilingual natural English. The place is decorated really nicely. I appreciate the easy list menu w full descriptions of each roll and price. The main menu is a paper place matt so you have time to look over it. Their covid regulations definitely are in place. The music is young and hip. To go order of a dragon roll served w an orchid. My girlfriend and I like to go here a lot. She always gets the teriyaki chicken and it is cooked to perfection. I mostly stick to the cooked sushi as I am not a big fan of sashimi (raw sushi). The server always makes sure that I get what I want whether I do not like cucumbers or avocado. The chefs and everyone always greet us when we come in and it makes for a very warm environment. Price-wise, it is a sushi restaurant so of course it is a little pricey but I would say you get what you pay for here. read more

Definitely a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, I can't believe I've never noticed this place! I ordered the sushi combo and it was very fresh and tasty even though it was only an hour before close! Tempura appetizer plate was flavorful and perfectly fried, and the yakisoba platter was amazing as well. Even though our waitress forgot some things like chopsticks & soy sauce (both kinda crucial to the sushi eating experience), she was extremely friendly and otherwise attentive. Let's start from the beginning. When you walk in the door they yell something at you, I have no idea what they're saying, but it makes you feel welcomed. Next you never have to wait! Once my girlfriend and I sat down and ordered our roles they came within the next 5 minutes...she's still saying "they were so fast!" They give you a great experience and I would highly suggest them! Fantastic way to start the week! The ambience is inviting with beautiful 3D artwork decorating the walls. The semi-enclosed seating is comfy and intimate. Our server, Brian, introduced himself and was very welcoming. Servers just don't do that anymore! He helped us decide what sashimi to order and was quick to serve our misos. Just a small place in strip center, but excellent food and service. When each person walks in, every person working verbally welcomes them. When anyone leaves, everyone thanks k them for coming. Sushi is BIG servings of fish and very fresh. I had Superman Burrito (actuallgy orders 2 other rolls too and waiter said, "Too much food." Ha. I'm glad! That things was awesome and huge. The rolls are very nice here. Just a salmon or tuna roll is always a pleasure. I am eating here for dinner for the first time. Usually I am here for the lunch deals. Dinner prices are around 15 to 20 dollars a plate. Be ready for that. This time I tried pork bugolgi. There is a generous amount of meat. Fantastic sushi! The place is really low-key and has a mellow environment, but when I'm out eating after a long day it's exactly what I'm looking for. I personally like the Lonestar Roll the best, but all of their rolls are delicious. Service wise they are very prompt and visit you regularly but not the annoying excessive amount. Went in for a casual date night, and was not disappointed! The atmosphere is very cool and you are greeted upon entry. We ordered 3 rolls with the highlighted by the Young's Favorite Roll.
