This is the place for one of the best burgers you will ever have. They have any and everything you can think of to put on a burger. Our options range from philly steak to mac & cheese to fries green tomatoes! The patty itself was fresh and all of our buns and bread were toasted and crisp and not soggy. This was just a bad day all around for us here.. We went in search of a baseball game and maybe we don't know how to look through Yelp well enough, but this was the one of the very few sports bars with TVs that we could find in the area. No matter, they didn't have the specific channel we were looking for anyway. We sat outside and went to order our drinks - soda machine is down. Not only that, only a few of their tap beers were actually working that day. Okay, that's fine. We all ordered a couple of different burgers and sides. Then.... Our server disappears. She's nowhere to be found for refills until our food shows up - about 45 minutes after sitting down. The food was okay. The service was awful. We were in town for a couple days and after doing some research found that this place had good reviews. Our party of 6 arrived for a late lunch/early dinner. Instantly we were amused by the selection of different burgers and sandwiches along with their unique names. This place takes something traditional like a burger and adds nontraditional toppings. You can also just have a plain cheeseburger if you aren't feeling adventurous. They do use giid quality meat so you will like it. We enjoyed everything we ate. Everything was very mid. I tried the pork wontons since that was on the front of the account. They are actually egg rolls with a little pulled pork in them served with bbq sauce. I tried the Red Rooster sandwich because I wanted something spicy. It wasn't even remotely spicy as it only had like 3 jalapeños on it. The jalapeño-cilantro slaw was very bland, with no jalapeño taste at all. Another issue I had was the speed the food came out. Everything hit the table within a minute of ordering it. Not as big a deal with the wontons, but good that is supposed to be grilled should take a little longer. Probably explains the lack of grill marks on anything. To be fair, I came at an odd time, but this was pretty disappointing. The menu sounds like it's a flavor heavy place, but I did not get that with anything I ordered. read more

Not only is the food delicious but I appreciate how Midtown Caboose is handling social distancing. I felt very comfortable dining on the patio. The tables were all separated and employees were all wearing masks in addition to being wonderful hosts and servers. This was a very unique restaurant. The decor was adorable. I loved all the different menu items they had. The macaroni was good. The chili was nice and spicy. They had something for everyone's taste, even vegetarian and gluten-free. The hostess was nice, My server (Kalecia) was fabulous. She checked on us an adequate amount of times. Our food came out in a timely manner and everything was fresh! Thank you Joaquin. The atmosphere was relaxing and fun. The booth was comfortable. I could not have asked for anything to be better. Almost always reliable. Ive had a bad plant based burger there as i dont eat red meat. But otherwise i mean the burgers are really good. They're alcoholic milkshakes are good. I cannot tell you how disappointed and thoroughly disgusted my family and I were today. Waited until they opened, finally got seated and no one appears for thirty minutes. Finally asked for a server and ordered appetizers. After another hour we had had enough as we watched other patrons walk out disgusted and not fed. We got up, paid for the drinks and walked out never to enter again. What could have been done differently? Maybe have a manager or our waitress let us know how backed up they were? Maybe apologize and see what could be done? Check to make sure the tickets are received in the proper order? Quality of service? A 0 on a scale of 1-10. Quality of food? Wouldn't know as we never got that far! Great menu but not worth the aggravation folks. Find another place! read more

I think Midtown Caboose deserves 5 stars: fun environment, great burgers, delicious cocktails, nice customer service. I started with a coconut mojito. They prepared it with cream of coconut. What a delight! Tasty and refreshing. Their menu is overwhelming. There are so many choices of burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. But, they are mostly known of their crazy burgers. Peanut butter and jelly burger, shepherd's pie burger, smores burger...so many wonderfully weird combinations. I opted for something less strange but equally delicious, the Liberty Bell, one if their top sellers. It's basically a Philly cheese steak placed on top of a burger patty with melted Swiss cheese on a garlic aioli slathered roll. Doesn't that sound tasty? Service was great too; our waitress was lovely. Sit on the patio and enjoy the nice Floridian weather. read more

After a long day of exploring Tallahassee and touring TCC and FSU, my dad and I decided to stop at Midtown Caboose for dinner. We were absolutely starving so we decided to get the pizza chips appetizer and our meals. I had "The Mac Daddy" burger and my dad ordered "The Count of Monkey Cristo". Apart from being a little pricey, the dinner was absolutely amazing and you honestly get QUITE a lot of food (and that's an understatement too!) "Pizza Chips" appetizer: Such a cool little appetizer, they give you so many little "chips". I wouldn't necessarily consider them chips because they definitely aren't crunchy, they are more like fried pizza dough balls. Regardless, these are so cute and yummy! "The Mac Daddy" burger: Honestly, I had super high hopes for this burger, but unfortunately it didn't meet them. I found the burger was a little dry and pretty smokey (but that's definitely my fault because I asked for medium--lesson learned!). The mac-n-cheese also seemed pretty dry and not creamy like how it should be. Overall, I wouldn't order this burger again, but don't let it discourage you from trying it if you're interested! Just make sure to ask for the burger to be cooked medium rare. "The Count of Monkey Cristo" sandwich: WOWWWW!! It was my first time trying a Monte Cristo sandwich and it was so good! My dad ordered the blueberry sauce on the side to dip the sandwich into and it was so delicious. Next time I go to Midtown Caboose, I am DEFINITELY getting this sandwich. I highly, HIGHLY recommend! "Apple Orchard" dessert: Now, I like to think of myself as a dessert expert. This dessert was HEAVENLY. I figured for $6.99 it would be a small size for one person. When the waitress brought it out, I was so shocked. It was so huge for one person (which is always a plus in my book hehe). Honestly, I would go back for this dessert alone. By far the best apple dessert I've ever had. If you're considering this restaurant, get the "Apple Orchard" dessert. You will NOT regret it! Overall, loved the restaurant and the atmosphere! I have been here SO many times since coming to FSU and have officially turned my parents and ALL of my friends into huge fans of midtown caboose too!!!! Every single thing I've ever tried from the menu has been amazing and I've tried a LOT (I try to get something new each time I go): my usual personal favorite is the Raegan burger with chicken breast instead of beef but this time around I finally tried Robbie's Revenge sandwich--except they forgot to put avocado on it--but it was still PHENOMENAL like seriously been missing out on this sandwich.....everyone who's tried it has raved about it and now I understand! Visiting town for the day & saw this place on several lists for best cheap eats. The food was outstanding and huge. Tried the pulled pork egg rolls which were just ok for us. Ours were just regular pork with jalapeños & a little cream cheese. I wouldn't get them again. The burgers though were incredible. There a million types of sandwiches that all sounded great. The shepard's pie burger was a big hit but super messy. Definitely worth the extra napkins though. They have a fantastic outside covered patio which was really nice. Staff were very friendly as well. There's something for everyone and I especially enjoy the dishes with a twist. The peanut butter jelly burger is hands down my favorite way to eat a burger now! The Caboose is serving it up really well in the sides department too: apples, side salads, carrot/celery stick, sweet potato fries, tater tots, hush puppies, potatoes and gravy, Mac, and the list goes on & on. The salads are enormous and super fresh. I love the Odyssey and Mimi. It's a little pricey once you add protein and would be nice if there was a small or large option for salad. The atmosphere is fun and staff are always friendly. I've never had a bad experience. The patio is spacious with a full bar and there are TVs indoor & outdoor making it easy to catch a sports game. Midtown Caboose has a chill atmosphere and solid burgers. Parking can be difficult on busy days when the lot in the back fills up. Patio is dog-friendly. The menu reminds me of their other restaurant, Wells Brothers ("Monk's"), but with an extra three toppings added to every burger. Because I find the options to be so overwhelming, I tend to order the trio of sliders, miniature versions of their regular burgers and sandwiches, served with a side choice. (The daily trio selection is listed on the chalkboard by the hostess stand.) Last Friday, I had a "PB&J" with bacon and strawberry jam (a favorite), the "Betsy" with mozzarella and olives, and the special "April Showers" turkey burger with sprouts, pineapple, and a fried egg. For those who enjoy a more decorated burger, you won't go wrong with the Mac Daddy. When I'm feeling naughty, I order their sweet potato fries which are coated in cinnamon sugar.
