I have been to Midtown many times because I want to like it and I have given the staff many opportunities however you get mediocre service at best. The food is middle of the road with it coming out lukewarm many times. The restaurant has always been clean each time with plenty of seating inside and a patio area outside.

UPDATE: I had the chance to enjoy a meal here at Midtown Cafe & Dessertery to celebrate my mother's birthday recently. They were pretty hoppin' busy with weekend traffic but we were able to walk in and nab a quick seat in a booth in the seating area. Our server checked in with us and got our drink orders going pretty quickly. We checked out the menu and they have breakfast anytime selections as well as salad/sandwich/soup options for lunch time. I opted for the Crabcakes & Grits which appealed to me with the description of "three delicious house-made crab cakes, bacon, sharp white cheddar cheese, remoulade, and green onions over stone-ground grits." I did ask for the remoulade sauce on the side however it came on the dish instead but that was not a big dealbreaker for me. The generously portioned dish was pretty tasty with just enough spice and flavor in the remoulade to wake up the dish without being too spicy. My folks decided on getting chicken and rice soup with a grilled cheese (my father was especially satisfied and pleased with this choice). My meal was pretty satisfying but we decided the occasion called for dessert. I went with their long known favorite here, the 5 Flavored Pound Cake. The menu description states "Our best seller for 35 years! The flavors are a secret." I usually prefer my pound cake sans icing but this time I chose to get their variation that had cream cheese icing. This slab (definitely large than a slice/piece!) of cake was the perfect ending to a good meal, with just enough moisture to it so it was not dried out, nice pound cake flavor, and the icing very creamy. Our server did a great job checking on us pleasantly, topping off our drinks, and taking care of us all during the meal. Good lunch stop into Midtown Cafe & Dessertery, I liked my meal here.

If you need a solid spot for brunch this is it. The pancakes are fluffy, and the mimosa options are rather large, and they have cake slices. I got the spicy mango mimosa and it was very tasty. I loved the caramel banana French toast. Definitely need to go back to try a few more options.

Ordered Midtown Cafe off of Uber Eats for lunch, and yum!! It hit the spot! I got the chicken salad wrap with a side of the pesto pasta salad. It was very filling! I loved how the chicken salad had grapes in it - it was a perfect addition of sweetness. The pasta salad portion is awesome! It is very well-dressed with pesto. I loved it. The Uber Eats order came in like 20 minutes! I was super impressed!! A great lunch.

Our server was very friendly and funny which made for a great visit. The food was a little bit slow to come out however it was very delicious. Once we got it. I liked how big it was in there and the fact that it was combo restaurant and bakery.

Always a great spot to eat. Good service and friendly staff. Food choices are plenty. Not too loud, just right for a quiet conversation. Plenty of seating inside and out. A great spot for breakfast in Winston Salem.

Hometown favorite continues to exceed expectations! It's the perfect spot for a family gathering, baby shower, or just birthday lunch. The staff is well trained to handle large parties and help each other to make sure that each guest has a memorable experience.

The bride and I went as it was close to the crappy hotel we stayed at. The food was ok, nothing special. I had a sausage & cheese omelette with pancakes. The bride had the shrimp & grits. My omelette had more sausage on top of it than in it. As far as omelettes go, it was not very big or tasty. My wife said her shrimp and grits were void of any flavor. The server was fantastic, she should get 5 stars and the restaurant only 3, so I just averaged it out. Her name was Scarlette T and she kept our drinks full, was very attentive and overall a fantastic job by her. In our family grading system, we would not be going back to try again

I'm a little surprised Yelpers don't love this place as much. We ordered breakfast quesadilla, oatmeal pancakes and shirmp+grits to share. The food is great. I really enjoyed the grits - perfectlyseasoned, cheesy, and creamy. Plating could be better - it was really hard to l cut up and eat the pancakes without making a huge mess. The quesadilla could use a little more taste.

My friend and I met here, for the first time, and snagged an outside table. The patio seating is lovely. She started with the Midtown Maple Latte and I had the Toasted Marshmallow Latte. Both were good but I was expecting the marshmallows to be toasted. They were actually tiny, dry marshmallows (think Swiss Miss) on top of whipped cream. The Spicy Grit Skillet was absolutely delicious and I love that they don't stir everything together. The andouille sausage was in pieces not ground and they cooked it perfectly. This also comes with 2 over easy eggs, a small dollop of pimento cheese and green onions. The pimento cheese was very good but I held the green onions. They may have applied them and removed them before serving because I could smell them. It didn't affect the taste and I was thrilled with the meal. My friend got the Western Omelet with a side of grits. She said everything was delicious. We split a small side order of pancakes, just to try them. If you like fluffy and soft pancakes, these are for you. Wendy was appropriately funny and attentive. We signed up to be VIPs so we will be back.

The food was amazing!! The amount of food that they provide per dish is well worth the price. We were able to share one entree and and add a side of bacon which was perfect for 2 people. The mimosa flavors were delicious. We had strawberry pina cola day, orange cranberry, pineapple apricot, and peach mojito. They have a loyalty program. It was a great experience and the service was impeccable. I can't wait to go back. The environment is fun and family oriented but it's perfect for any group.

Between the rave reviews and the beautifully designed space, I knew this would be our stop. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was that the parking lot was on the smaller side, but any concern disappeared the moment we checked in. The hostess greeted us warmly, asked for my license plate so she could validate our parking, and had us seated almost immediately. It was such a thoughtful touch and set the tone for the experience. On the way to our table, I couldn't help but notice the inviting patio, perfect for lingering over lunch on a beautiful day. That said, I had reserved an indoor table, and I'm glad I did. The dining room is intimate, stylish, and effortlessly chic. It's the kind of restaurant that feels equally suited for a catch-up with friends as it does for a date night. The tables are close together, creating a lively atmosphere, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you prefer a little more privacy. Our server, Aundria, made an already wonderful experience even better. She was warm, attentive, and knew the menu inside and out. It was also refreshing to see the entire team working together so seamlessly, with everyone stepping in to help one another throughout the meal. I ordered the lobster roll with shoestring fries, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The lobster was fresh, buttery, and generously portioned, making it one of those dishes I'd happily order again. Before we left, I asked Aundria what she reaches for when she dines there. Without hesitation, she recommended the Korean Beef Bowl, which has already earned a spot on my list for my next visit. As if the experience couldn't have ended on a sweeter note, it started raining just as we were leaving. The hostess grabbed an umbrella and walked me to my car, a simple gesture that perfectly reflected the hospitality we experienced from start to finish. Great food is memorable, but genuine hospitality is what keeps me coming back. This restaurant delivered both, and it's officially earned a place on my list of Winston-Salem favorites.

The "Korean Beef Bowl" came with about a cup of each beef, rice, cucumbers and maybe 1/4th of an avocado for $24. This looked and tasted like a $14 dollar plate at best (seriously, no kimchi even in a Korean bowl?); I left hungry. My wife got the Thai coconut curry, $30 bucks which included an $8 up charge for chicken, in which there were maybe 8 paper thin slices. The curry part was non existent both in volume and in taste. There was barely any sauce, very bland, and it essentially tasted like unseasoned noodles and vegetables. I would gladly come back for a happy hour and enjoy their other drink options and appetizers, but I just cannot justify paying the exorbitant prices for how mediocre the food ultimately was. I wish I had taken a picture of the food to add weight to the review but it was so lackluster looking that it just was not worth photographing in the moment.

Although it's tucked away in an unassuming business district, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting space and exceptional service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail throughout our meal was outstanding. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. It was served over a bed of crisp sliced cucumbers and the most amazing vinegar coleslaw. The combination of flavors was fresh, light, and memorable. Even the warm dinner rolls were outstanding and set the tone for the meal. For our entrées, the meatloaf was everything comfort food should be. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, served over creamy mashed potatoes with fresh French green beans. We also ordered the Chef's seasonal Squash Casserole, and it was phenomenal. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't miss it. Milner's way exceeded our expectations: wonderful food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening. I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! It was a bit on the noisy side but not so bad we couldn't have a conversation. Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night. One of the hostesses mentioned there would be seating clearing at the bar within minutes, which was good enough for us. We sat down 3 minutes later and ordered a few minutes after that. My daughter went for a cheeseburger which she happily ate stating that the food at Wake was NOT good all week. My husband enjoyed his turkey club and packed the other half for his flight later that evening (lunch and dinner). I went with the crab cake appetizer, which I thought was just OK. It was only a few dollars cheaper than the sandwich so I probably should have gotten that instead, but didn't want to be tempted with the bread and fries. We were in and out within 30 minutes, which I appreciated since we had a drive to Chapel Hill ahead of us. Overall, it was a solid meal and I'm guessing a favorite for those affiliated with the campus.

I also wasn't super hungry so I got the Big Ol' Pretzel with queso (other side choices were brown sugar or mustard) and a Caesar side salad. The pretzel was great. It was salty and had a great texture (and did not have that microwaved chewy texture that you get sometimes)! I do prefer beer cheese to queso but the pretzel was so good it wasn't a huge deal. The side salad was larger than expected. I didn't care for the dressing. It was not a traditional Caesar taste or texture - not creamy, more of a vinaigrette, and gave the salad greens a slimy texture.
