This is a couple of different visits to Frisch's takeout in Highland Heights Ky. It's increasingly difficult to find Frisch's locations these days with so many of there's closing. They've always had one of the best fish sandwiches available anywhere with a great batter on the fish and delicious tartar sauce to top it. It's fantastic. They are also currently doing a limited time Grippo's Grilled Cheese which is them crumbling up the local favourite Grippos bbq chips and putting them on there already stellar Grilled Cheese sandwich. The result is just as heavenly as one would expect. I got a bowl of chili on both occasions which is a perfect winter time addition to any meal. They have one of my favourite chili's and it rounded out my meals nicely. I've always enjoyed Frisch's and I hope they can get their finances straightened out because I love their food. read more

Thank you for still being around, love it and the food is really good, we did notice some changes but overall, still what I like and get the same thing all the time. We went here last Friday for the seafood bar. When being seated, we noticed how dirty the place was. In fact, we had to stand there awkwardly as they cleaned our table before they sat us. There was a used fork just laying out in the middle of the aisleway by our table, gross. The seafood bar was not as good as past years. The fish seemed small, and was mushy. There were maybe ten tiny overcooked shrimp left, and never was refilled. The ranch dressing sure doesn't seem like its the same ranch they used to have. There were a few other empty things that we never knew what was supposed to be in them because they were not refilled. Also, no longer had any dessert on the bar like in past years. On top of all that, the price had went up. Very disappointing. The only positive is that our server did a great job, kept our drinks full. 4 stars because the employees are are consistently patient and kind. I have found that ordering at the drive-through instead of pre-ordering is the key to the perfect Big Boy. I just wish they would bring back the old style of onion rings. The new batter is too bready and not tasty. A+ on customer service! read more

Stopped in on 7/7/2025 at apx 08:45 got the breakfast bar and a coffee Coffee was so pot bitter 6 creams and 6 sugar packets couldn't change it As for the food The sausage patties were hard and black The eggs were crusty and turning dark yellow from sitting under the heat lights Decided to try the "sausage " gravy and biscuit gravy had absolutely no Flavor what so ever and biscuits were rock hard and burnt on the bottom. I miss Frisch's. This location has gone down hill so far that they're underground peeking out across the continent. Each time I've gone in it's gotten to be worse. From servers bring their kids in and catering to them instead of actual customers to sausage on the bar you can throw and break a window with. Friday am I arrived and was greeted by a group chatting in the kitchen and hearing "Someone will be right with you". They all had to discuss whose turn it was to be seated. I told the "chosen one" that it was only me and I was going to have the bar but, he grabbed a menu put it with silverware on the table and said my server would be with me shortly. Again, I overheard whose table I was going to be. 10 minutes in and there she was. The bar. The bar was unsightly and unappetizing. More limited than I had ever seen a breakfast bar. If you're not careful, the escaping steam from underneath will severely burn your hands. The eggs are rubber pellets and the "cheese" to top the eggs is the color of a perfect orange. The sausage patties are miniature hockey pucks and pancakes don't even exist even though there is plenty of fruit toppings and syrup. Let's talk about the attempt at French Toast. You could use the French toast to scrap the ice off your windshield. There was no possible way to cut it. It was inedible. The potatoes. What happened to the potatoes? They were small cubed hashbrowns that turned into tough rawhide bites. I thought about making a breakfast bowl with them but, the gray was a paste literally. It held form and you could eat it with a fork. The fruit! The cantaloupe was dried out and the pineapple was brown. Yummy! I will most definitely without a doubt never be back. That was the most disgusting "meal" I've ever had. This made Anchor Grill seem like First Watch. Frisch's you can do better! read more

Yikes. Our service was so so slow and awkward. The salad bar was literally more than half empty and the food that was on the bar was dried up, gross and not even labeled. Can't believe I paid for the "salad, pasta and dessert" bar when there was not a single dessert available the entire time I was there and the pasta was dried up and crunchy. You had one job since they only have drive-thru! I was craving onion rings so stopped by since our local Frisch's closed. Ordered a dinner with 2 sides - and only had one side and no onion rings and no bread!! The fries were good and chicken fingers were fresh. Went here when passing through and thought we would give them a try. The decor seemed updated and I was excited to see a salad bar when I walked in. Took a look at the items and they looked decent. To start with, service was horrible. The waitress was very friendly, but extremely slow. And I mean extremely slow. Before she came over to even take our drink orders, she spent several minutes chatting at the table behind us. Finally got our drink and food orders and it took about 10 minutes to get them. Another 15-20 minutes for the food order. Son got the buffalo basket which he said wasn't bad, but a bit too hot for his taste. It consisted of a good number of chicken bites coated in sauce with a side of fries. Nothing special about it, though. Hubby got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. Green beans were bland, slightly on the cold side. Potatoes were lukewarm and ok for flavor. The salad bar had fresh salad and other toppings, but the mushrooms were kind of nasty, the banana salad wasn't too good and the fruit cocktail mixture looked like it had been sitting out. Dressing were not bad. Food wasn't horrible, but it also was about $25 for the meal which might not have been worth it for the quality and lack of service. At one point, there was a group of people who had not been served and the guy asked someone for service. He replied "well this isn't my table and I can either wait on you or clean my stations, not both." Somebody ended up serving them eventually, but the waiters comment was very unprofessional. Son ordered refill on drink and it took an extraordinarily long time to come and she never came back again to see if any of of the rest of us wanted refills. I think I've about had it with this location. So.. yesterday I swing by for some quick breakfast. First off the drive-thru attendant was either high as a kite or completely clueless. I first ordered - or rather attempted to order an Omelette, which gets mistaken for some burger. Ok, no problem - I re-state what I wanted... and then asked if Tomatoes were on that particular Omelette. After the second series of grunts from the speaker - I finally got annoyed and just left without placing an order. I mean - she didn't even really answer me - she just kind of grunted in the speaker... I assume there are tomatoes on the Omelette, but if I really want to know - I'll have to ask at another location. I mean - I'm serious, the speaker was working just fine - it was the person grunting, not an issue with the speaker, lol. And the last couple times at their Breakfast bar... just yuck. It wasn't worth anything even close to what I paid for it. I have only ran into one friendly person at this drive-thru, and when the food is well prepared here, I'm actually *surprised*. It's close and maybe that's why I gave it some room, but close or not - I'm done with this one. In contrast, the store on Ward's Corner Road, near where I work is the exact opposite. Always friendly, they never grunt when taking orders, and the food is always really good. But both the Highland Heights and Cold Spring Frisch's locations are quite poor. read more

we interacted with our server twice. it was decent service. our server did her job efficiently. towards the end of our dinner my aunt got up to pay the bill and tip at the register and she sat back down to wait on my younger cousin to finish up his food. a manager then proceeded to stand by the registrar, speak with our server, and then yell out loud the tip amount and details of our bill to where everyone around could hear while looking at us. my family and I felt very offset by the comment and it was unprofessional considering the tip was fairly generous . read more

So I don't have high standards for my diners. If I go to big boy's or Denny's I'm not looking for a five star steak dinner. However I am looking for prompt service, fries that don't taste like they've been in the bottom of the basket for the last six hours and chili that does not have grease sitting on top of it even after you stir it. I have never given a one star before but this visit did it. We waited too long to be seated for a restaurant that was 95% empty, the waitress said she'd bring my chili out right away and ended up not brining it until the rest of the meal was delivered, I didn't eat the greasy chili and neither of us finished the fries. The best I can say is the waitress was polite and took the chili off the bill without prompting. We left and went to McDonalds. Sucks as I have been to plenty of Frisch's where you got decent diner food and good service. read more

In reality, Frisch's is just another local burger chain. The one thing that makes them so different and extraordinarily wonderful. TARTER SAUCE. TARRRRTER SAUUUUCE. It is the most magical thing I have ever tasted. I can literally eat it with a spoon, and I know that's disgusting but you will understand if you are a tater sauce fan. Otherwise, it's going to be mediocre service and the food isn't going to be up to par as it would at a nicer restaurant but what do you really expect when you can get two meals for less than $10! read more

Location? Location. It is truly unfortunate that this location just can't get it's act together. First it was a poorly run Perkins. Now as a Frisch's, I don't see much improvement. It's a random Thursday morning and although the place isn't busy the breakfast bar items are empty, old or cold. I'm really disappointed. The decor is more modern than the old school Frisch's, but it is evident that it's not being kept up. There are fixtures with burnt out bulbs and the place needs a good wipe down. I love the look of this new Frisch's and was excited to grab breakfast here on my way out of town. What a let down. It took for-e-ver. Not good when you're there with impatient parents! Biscuits were dark brown and not fresh. Western Omelet was dry, pieces of ham, pepper and onion laying on top of a formed egg circle. Cheese was a sprinkled on the top only. These places are all over the Cincinnati area. I have never tried any of the others, and I probably won't because this one isn't good. I've been to this one three times. My first experience was with the hamburger. I don't know what it's called but it was decent, but not impressive. So I went back another time. The second visit was for breakfast. The dining room was PACKED, so you'd expect something great from the buffet, right? Again, it was par at best. My family ate with me and they weren't as pleased as I was. They said it was gross. My third and final experience was with some sort of ranch wrap. It was very bad, but not because it was prepared poorly. It was just not something I liked. Horrible food. I went there as I didn't know the city or where to go and I stumbled upon it and it was open. I ordered the Salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was not good. It didn't even taste like Salmon and I'm still not sure it even was. The mashed potatoes were ok for microwave potatoes but the green beans were straight from the can and the good ol' microwave as well. I came in after a Winter Guard competition. There was about 7 maybe 8 of us. Our waitress, Delilah (sorry if i spelled that wrong), was on top of it. I was very thirsty and as soon as we sat down she asked us what we wanted to drink. And in less than 3 minuets she came out with our drinks. And not only that. When it comes to ordering food i get overwhelmed and start overthinking. I probably changed by mind 10 times, but she was great about it. We've been going to fritches for over 40 yr. Always our"to go" to place. Tonight at the Bellevue location, my fish sandwich was awful. The service was awful. The restaurant was filthy. I hate leaving bad reviews and I'm all about chances but 3rd time has not been a charm at this point. Never been to a slower restaurant, especially going through the drive through. I know it's a restaurant that may take a little longer than a BK, but 20 minutes in a drive through every time-a bit much. I find that since this particular Frisch's in Highland Heights, KY has reopened the place is very clean. The new way of ordering and serving keeps the place and its customers safe. The food has always been excellent at this restaurant and the staff has been very helpful and nice. The manager always comes out and asks how things are going and if there is anything that he can do to help. Would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

I decided to give HH location another try after a year hiatus {I was totally disgusted by the guy finding a plastic glove at the bottom of his to_Go cup. And last three drive thru visits were horrible). At noon there was barely anyone there which I thought odd. Place just doesn't smell or seem 'clean'. Food was not that great either, fries looked and tasted like they've been using the same frying oil for a long time, my son got a burnt pancake which would have been obvious to the cook when putting on a plate for server to take out. I'm just done with this location. Very poor food and slow service despite the place being nearly empty. It shows they truly don't care what they're serving and really doesn't need to be correct either. Ridiculous and lazy. I left the server a good tip because I felt sorry for the conditions she has to work in and the food she has to serve which she didn't make herself. Server was very nice at least. read more

I'll admit some personal bias: I grew up just down the street from this particular Frisch's location and have been coming here for about as long as I can remember, so there's certainly a sentimental connection here. That said, I've never had any complaints about the food, service, or cleanliness here. Sure, it's Frisch's and nobody here is looking for a super high-end dining experience, but for what it is, it's hard to beat the Fort Thomas Frisch's. I've been to many other Frisch's locations throughout the Cincinnati area, and unfortunately, my experience has hasn't always been a good one. The chain really needs to do a better job of ensuring consistency among their locations in terms of service and quality control, but in my experience, this particular location stands out as one of the more reliable ones. I've been known to drive past other Frisch's locations in order to come to this one, because I know they won't let me down. UPDATE 3/3/2012: This particular Frisch's location has been closed, and replaced with a larger and more modern location just down the road where I-471 ends at US 27 in Highland Heights. I understand that most of the staff from the Ft. Thomas location have been transferred to the new location. read more

Drive-thru review. They seriously get pissed if you order a milkshake. I heard audible groaning when i ordered three milkshakes. We were all uncomfortable. And when we got to the window, the woman with the strange chin (sorry i know that's rude but she was incredibly rude to us!) gave us a pissed off look and talked down to us. I'm sorry making milkshakes is torture for you but maybe you should quit if it means you treat people like dogshit. After rudely telling us to pull forward and wait, i'd be willing to bet money they spit in our shakes. This isn't the first time, but def the worst it's been. A good place for a good meal at a good price - big boy, fries, and soda with those classic small ice cubes! It's not the greatest or fanciest, but it's there and pretty good, and you want to sit down for a good meal, but not wait forever to get served. Took forever to get drinks, they brought the food out which was wrong, I told the person it was wrong she said she would get server. Server never came back. Asked for someone to get server she still never came over. When we asked for the manager the dining room leader acted as if we were asking for her to go out of her way. Finally the server came over and said she would take the wrong items off the bill. Never offered to replace or fix the items that were wrong.
