Midway cafe in Ft. Thomas is a great place from the friendly staff to the great menu. It's a great meeting place for groups to catch up or just to grab a quick bite. I consider myself a chicken wing connoisseur and the Midway cafés wings are my favorite! They have several dry rub options including dill pickle, Nashville hot peanut butter and the award-winning Cajun rub. I always get a side of jalapeño honey mustard sauce which is phenomenal. I took my family there and everyone was pleased with their meals from the BLT to the burgers. Don't miss out on the fried cheese bites they are out of this world. We like wings! Friends suggested this place and we finally made it. Juke box said no explicit music before 8, cool, I'm not into rap. As soon as 8 hit, explicit rap. Looking at the age of the clientele at that time, I don't think they were into it either. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And the bar atmosphere, other than the music was nice. However, the food was very disappointing. House salad was shameful. A little iceberg lettuce, some tomatoes, cucumber, and a hint of onion. But, all was smothered in packaged shredded cheese. We ordered 20 wings dry with sauces on the side. The wings were very salty. We ordered 4 sauces, but only got 2. We were told the honey mustard jalapeno was the hottest, and it was lame. Also, we were charged .50 each for the 2 sauces that we did get. We only ate half of the wings and brought the rest home. Also got a side of fries and they were so salty, we couldn't eat them. Wedge salad covered in blue cheese dressing with bacon crumble, and had tomatoes and onions on side. Burger was solid. Also had fries over chips. Fries were potato-e and good. Wife wasn't impressed by chicken fingers and regretted her choice. Wasn't sure if we had an assigned server, three people helped us. Service was slow, but wasn't in a rush so I didn't mind. Not good for kids. Not accessible for the disabled. My family went for lunch, party of six, with two children under two. No high chairs, which is fine, they could sit in chairs, but we were told that we couldn't move the short tables together to fit all of us because of some bull about a "fire hazard" even though there is tons of room on the floor. We weren't going to put the toddlers at high tops. Management told us very curtly that there was nowhere we could sit, so we had to leave. I'm reasonably used to not having my kid accommodated, thought I really object to a place without high chairs labeled as "good for kids." But I got to thinking about how there is no place in the whole restaurant for someone in a wheelchair to join in a party of more than four. Heaven forbid disabled people want to eat, drink, and have friends. A previous reviewer pointed this problem out in 2017 and no attempt has been made to fix. Got a great spot right across the street from the place thankfully since it's on street parking. It's not handicapped accessible which was unfortunate since I was visiting with folks that were mobility impaired. So we had to sit outside in the heat. But we traveled to visit this establishment based on Yelp reviews so we dealt with the heat and forged in. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Which doesn't always happen when going outdoors. Menu isn't huge but things looked yummy so we selected our items and prayed for the best. I ordered the "award winning" grilled cheese and my companion the "southie" wrap. The best thing I can say is that the chips served with both were fresh and made in house and delicious. So if you're looking for really great potato chips this is the place to eat!! read more

I've been going to Midway Cafe for over a year now and have never had a bad experience. The Cajun dry rub wings are the best in the TRI-state region! If you like great bourbon at a reasonable price this is the place for you! They have specialty picks, rare bottles, and plenty of bourbon slush and craft beers. We just went here tonight for their grand opening with new owners and renovation. The new look is much more polished and contemporary. Thank goodness for a non-smoking bar in Ft. Thomas! I ordered the BLT sandwich with chips and my husband got the classic burger with fries. The service was slow but that was to be expected on their first night working out kinks. Several managers checked on us and apologized for the long wait. My BLT had delicious crispy bacon, mayo, iceberg lettuce, and tomato on toasted bread. The chips seemed to be hand-cut and fried in house; a nice surprise! My husband said his burger was juicy and on spot for a basic burger. The prices were very reasonable as well! We are glad to have a nice neighborhood bar where we can grab a cheaper meal and some drinks. I wish these new owners luck and I'm sure they will continue to improve on their service. read more

If you enjoy being seated at high tables almost exclusively, then this is the place for you. While there seems to be the space for normal/low tables, there was only 1, count it one, at this place. You can say "hey, what about the two smallish booth tables that are positioned so it's kind of hard to see the TV?" I did not get to try the food because a member of my party could not comfortably sit in the high seats and the low table(s) were taken. It would be nice it they offered as many low tables as they did the high ones but I guess they just don't care about their customers that much. read more

I love this place! Midway has been a staple in Fort Thomas ever since I can remember and in the past several years has changed ownership and made some serious improvements. One of the best things about Midway is the location: it's on the South Side of Fort Thomas right across the street from Tower Park and the VA (and a super quick walk from my house!) and sits in a historic building with tons of original fixtures and old exposed brick; it's great and I love it! The menu is fantastic and they are cooking up some of the BEST wings I've ever had! The wings are huge and smoked and meaty and flavorful and I highly recommend ordering these if it's your first time visiting. The burgers are also good according to those who I've dined, but I prefer diner-style-thin burgers and these are on the massive side. All burgers and sandwiches are served with house chips (which are Saratoga style) and they are THE BEST chips EVER with the perfect amount of crispy and salty. If nothing else on the menu was worth anything, I would come here just to eat their house chips. Portion sizes are extremely generous and I often cannot finish my whole meal. Service is quick and friendly and the bar offers a large selection of local brews on tap. read more

I'm glad I never bothered to write a review after my first few visits, as this place has since changed ownership and made sooo many improvements to the menu. First off the atmosphere is pretty much the same as it was, including the old hardwood floors that are slightly uneven. It has that local sports bar vibe and if you live in Ft. Thomas you're bound to run into someone you know for sure. The burgers are good here. The Highland Heat is my favorite. Add a side of hot sauce from the wing sauce menu for some added heat and flavor. Speaking of wings, they're freaking fantastic. Probably the best in the greater Cincy area. They smoke them first, then finish them in the deep fryer for a subtle crispy texture. Oh boy are they good. I get sauce on the side because they are just as delicious on their own. Stopped on a whim and was glad I did. I had the sweet tea, mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. My friend had the BLT with home-made chips. By far one of the saddest customer service experiences I have ever had. I took a friend to lunch today and this place was close; we sat at an outside table and a young girl came outside to let us know they weren't open. We said ok and began to discuss where to go to eat that was open. At that time another female employee told us to get off of their table and leave. She did not ask us to or explain, she demanded we leave. Again, this was a table on a sidewalk, not in a roped off area. We tried to tell her what we were doing and she demanded we leave, stating we were "loitering" a criminal offense amongst other things. She did not walk up to say this, she yelled this to us across the front of the building from an open door. She turned away before I could finish my sentence, what I had to say was of no concern to her. This is not ok. Ma'am I am a professional and not sure what about my appearance made you think it was ok to speak to me this way. No one deserves to be treated that way by another human being and that was not ok. I have never been told to leave a place or treated like a vagrant before, and I have never been threatened with criminal charges for sitting at a restaurant patio table before. Those were just words to you but they deeply upset us. We walked away feeling confused and insulted. Shame on you. read more

I'm unsure whether they are house-made or not- but nonetheless they're worth a try. The only negative is that they don't have any highchairs. Midway is a great place to eat and hang out. There's a hometown feel when you're at Midway, so that's another added bonus.
