Certainly a gem of Houston! You might overlook or pass since they are such a humble bunch. They certainly treat you like family with good vibe, good laugh, and good food! The Philly Egg Rolls is a great shareable order for everyone. The wings are on point and super tender. And the Pound for Pound (cream cheese dessert goodness) will end your night with a sweet dream. I love this place, I cant say that enough! I find myself wanting it all the time. I have never had a hot dog sooo delicious like this place. The meat tastes good and not fake, the french fries are always hot and on point. I come here so often that the person who takes the order remembers me. The wait is about 20 minutes but its worth it because they make your food fresh. Please try this place! It's located in the galleria food truck park, but they are not open on Mondays or Tuesdays. I've never heard of Midwest Coney Connection, but it was situated right next to Mico's Hot Chicken and I don't know why, but I wanted to try their food out too! I just couldn't help myself and blame pregnancy. The guy that took my order really hyped up their food and said Midwest Coney Connection was on the news and everything. I was intrigued, so I ordered the #2 Famous Detroit Coney Dog (Homemade wet beef chili sauce, mustard, and onions served on a steamed bun; $4 for the dog only) and their #7 Famous Wings (Six famous seasoned wings with fries and a drink; $10) and my husband ordered their Philly Cheese Steak Special (Seasoned slice beef cooked with grilled onions, grilled bell peppers, and mushrooms, topped with American white cheese; $9.50). Overall, the Famous Detroit Coney Dog basically was like any old chili cheese hot dog. The ingredients did not taste like quality ingredients whatsoever. The Famous Wings were pretty good actually, but again nothing unique. My husband said the Philly Cheese Steak was terrible and didn't taste like a true Philly Cheese Steak. At least the customer service was great. Once again Yelp, really confused at the 5 stars here. read more

I ordered the 6 wings in sweet & spicy(9 out of 10 because the wings were small, but the taste was delicious, definitely would try again)with a side of Philly cheesesteak egg roll (3 out of 10, horrible taste, I only gave it a 3 because I'm being nice) and she ordered the 6 wings in BBQ lemon pepper(chef's kiss in her emoji explanation ). The fries are really good and seasoned very well. I ate those very quickly. Overall, this place has good service and good food, I just wouldn't recommend the egg rolls to anybody. I love egg rolls and these are not worth the calories or the money. One egg roll costs $3.49. The total of the meal that we received costed $29.65. read more

This place has launched a long Detroit-style hot dog menu in Houston, with a variety of halal hot dog options along with incredibly delicious (top 3 ranked in my opinion) chicken wings. I tried the Flint Dog loaded with ground beef and jalapeños on my first visit recently while supplementing the order with Six Wings a la carte ($8 value with a mix of spicy and tangy flavor). The food tatted on point and their famous Sienna sauce totally hits the spot. Their customer service is very friendly and that certainly enhances the overall experience. In 97 I joined the Navy and have tried MANY coneys around the world, but nothing came close to the quality of the ones in Genesee County, Michigan. That is, nothing until now. The Coney was authentic, and they "serve the curve" if you ask. I could smell the authentic spices, and the vienna had the natural casing with a SNAP. I won't drive near Houston without stopping. In today's "hurry up and buy" service industry that is like unheard of. Even if the food wasn't good I'd probably still eat there because they're so darn nice. So I really love hot dogs, like really! But, this took my obsession to a whole 'nother level. If you're thinking you're going to get the same ole hot dogs you buy in the grocery store you're completely wrong. From the second you bite down and experience the snap of the natural casing you know you're getting the good stuff. It's packed with tons of savory flavor and just the right amount of juiciness from the perfect combination of beef and pork (I think). They offer a wet and dry chili. Both are amazing but that dry one is the bomb! I'd venture to say that all the products used are likely really from the Midwest because I've never had a hot dog that delicious all my years in Texas. Typically at a place with such a standout main the side is an afterthought. But the darn fries here are literally the best fries I've ever had. Perfectly fried and then lightly dusted with seasoning. I was excited to check this food truck out after seeing their instagram post. I feel the food on instagram is better than what you get in person. My food looked nothing remotely like what I saw in the pictures. My mother and I order two chili dogs and philly cheese steak egg rolls. I felt like in quality and appearance I should have just went to Sonic's. Going out of my way to try them out I was disappointed. The service was okay just wasn't impressed with the food. I have driven past this place for a while now and I finally decided to stop by. The place is a small purple food truck located in a nondescript lot along Richmond right before Chimney Rock. What attracted me in the first place was the fact that they serve Detroit style coney dogs. Living in Texas, I had no idea that Michigan was known for their chili. Apparently there are a few variations that are popular in that region. I decided to order the Frito pie since I am not a fan of hotdogs. The amazing owner of the truck was so nice and gave me a free coney dog to try. Apparently your typical hotdog and the hotdog used on a coney are very different. After trying both the coney and the Frito pie, I was impressed. Both were filling and very tasty. The Frito pie had a different chili than the one used on the coney. I googled best hot dogs in Houston and Midwest Coney Connection was on the list, so I figured we would give it a try. I called before heading out to make sure they were open. The gentlemen that answered the phone was very friendly and let me know where they were located. We weren't to sure which hot dog to order so the gentlemen told us to try one of each hot dogs which were The Flint & The Detroit. We also ordered crinkle fries and a strawberry pop. Order didn't take long at all to get and we finally got to have a bite of this 5 star hot dog. Baby Jesus were both hot dogs amazing and mouth watering!!!! My girlfriend was also very satisfied with the hot dogs but was even more impressed with their crinkle fries (she's a big fries person) They were made perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning.
