Although nice music was playing it was a bit too loud to carry on a conversation among the 4 adults. But our biggest dissatisfaction was the very high prices of their food and drinks. $18.00 margarita? Geez Worst of all they charged our table of 4 adults. A 10 yr old and a baby 20% service charge! Of course we were not told so on top of a $56. service charge we still added tips. The baby who did not order a meal was considered an adult to enable them to automatically add the 20% fee! I was looking for a new decent Mexican restaurant without driving to downtown Gilbert, and found this place through yelp. Sadly, I was very disappointed by the experience with this restaurant. After being seated, I waited over 20 minutes for a server to take my order. I ordered an $18 margarita which tasted just OK but was 80% ice. There could not have been more than 2 ounces of liquid in this margarita. The tacos that I ordered were just OK but very overpriced for what was delivered. On top of that, I had to pay extra for chips and salsa. Honestly, this place is very overpriced and the food is just extremely mediocre, and the service is just simply subpar. Great location and love the Phx location. First off we didn't know if they were open, was very dark and not very welcoming - we did t know where the front door was! Parking is bad too. The place was busy so we sat at the bar. 1 cocktail 1 beer 2 appetizers was over 60$. No happy hour!!. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I won't go back nor recommend it. To start with, the menu online isn't correct, and the $12 glass of wine shown online was actually $17 in the restaurant. A $5 increase is pretty steep and when I asked about it, I was told the website needs to be updated. Why they couldn't price match what they advertised or give me a 9oz pour instead of a 6oz pour for the $17 is beyond me. Seems that would be an easy solution to give to a customer that just sat down to dinner. Then there was a $50 mistake on the menu for a bottle of wine. That I can understand more but wouldn't a black pen changing the $20 to $70 for that bottle of wine be easier than explaining to customers that their menu needs to be updated? (see the trend that their excuse for errors is it needs to be updated). Next up is the food was cold. I didn't say anything because don't like to send back food; I didn't want the food being put into a microwave or sat under a heat lamp to warm it up. At the end of my meal I was commenting to my friends that my food was cold and two other people said their food was also cold. When I brought it up to the waitress, she did wish I would have said something because she could have remedied it; she did give us a card for a free appetizer on our next visit to their restaurant. And finally, this is probably what pushed me over the edge and caused me to write the review is when I asked for a box for my leftovers, an employee handed me the box. I expect at a restaurant like that, the employee who brought me the box would put my food into the box. I've been at lower end restaurants, and they have done that for me. Me and my family just went here for my 19th birthday and this was genuinely some of the best food I've had in a long time. We got their chips and guacamole and also the pork belly chicharrones to start off and they were both delicious they gave us plenty of guac and the pork belly was citrusy and crunchy. I had their carne asada plate and it was amazing the steak was juicy and flavorful and combined with the guac it was a 10/10 bite. They brought out a free dessert for my birthday and it was the cheesecake which was the best cheesecake I have ever had. We got the Agua chilies and calamari for an appetizer the Quesa Bierria tacos and green chicken enchiladas was very delicious and finished off with the fried ice cream and Tres leches cake the Tres leches cake taste like regular cake with condensed milk spilled on top of it so just be worried other than that. Overpriced, Underwhelming, and Utterly Pretentious If you're seeking an expensive, disappointing, and ultimately frustrating dining experience, Miel de Agave is the place for you. What promises an "elevated" Mexican meal is nothing more than a pretentious facade for underwhelming food, served by a staff that acts as if they are doing you a favor. The pretension starts with the waitstaff, who seem more interested in their own carefully curated image than in providing actual service. Our server was aloof and condescending, treating every question as an annoyance. The attitude made the entire meal feel like an intrusion rather than a welcomed dining experience. The food was equally disappointing. The "carne asada," a small, unremarkable hanger steak, was far from the quality one would expect for a $36 price tag. The sides were served in tiny, fast-food-style plastic cups, a bizarre and cheap-looking contrast to the supposedly upscale atmosphere. And to top it off, the tortillas were wrapped in the same type of cloth napkin used for wiping tables, a completely unappetizing and unhygienic touch. The biggest insult came with the wine. After ordering a bottle that was clearly mispriced on the menu, the manager refused to honor the price. Instead of graciously owning the mistake, they doubled down, choosing to argue with a customer over a misprint. This move perfectly showcased the restaurant's priorities: profit over hospitality and pride over customer satisfaction. Don't be fooled by the trendy atmosphere and polished social media presence. Beneath the "vibrant vibes" and "craft mixology" lies a restaurant that simply doesn't deliver on its promises. For the price, you can find dozens of restaurants in the Valley that offer better food, honest service, and a management team that respects its customers. First parking is awful, gave them a try on Sunday around lunch (not busy at all). Very small space sandwiched between Blackrock Coffee and Jersey Mike's. The interior is nicely decorated though very dark. Grateful for their little lights on the table. While I was interested in a Margarita I couldn't stomach the $17 price tag. Husband decided on the Carne Asada and I decided to try their Elote Risotto. Keep in mind this is not a chips and salsa place (it isn't even on the menu). Service was good we did have to ask for lemons more than once. Husband said his meal was good, my Risotto which our server said was fantastic was in fact very blah. It came with a big piece of sourdough bread and five large shrimp. Overall with tip, two waters and two entrees our bill was just under $90.
