Decided to go to Miguel's in Coronado, and I was truly disappointed. To start, parking is always a royal pain, you drive and drive, and if you are lucky, you'll find a spot close by, if not you walk. We all know that some spots in Coronado are old, have been there for yrs, and they will continue there for many more--BUT PLEASE, invest in upgrading your buildings, make them look more appealing, dust them; etc. a clear example here is Miguel's at this location. The food was blah, the same as the service. Chairs, tables are old, walls need new, fresh paint, decoration. I don't think we will go back, time to find and explore new places. We used to like Miguel's, when it was better, this place has looked the same for years, particularly in this area of the restaurant. Today, it just didn't do it for us anymore. read more

We frequent this restaurant anytime we're in Coronado. The location is a little hidden, I like walking through the pathway to get to the host stand it feels like Catalina Island. Stopped by after skating at the del. It was pretty busy but we got a seat inside where the tables were very close together. They had a pretty long menu and many taco options, where you could mix and match. I went with the shredded chicken enchiladas, and my family got the surf and surf tacos, chorizo tacos, and a couple others. The server started us off with chips and salsa and queso and waters right away, which was faster than expected given how busy it was! After that, service was a big disorganized and took a little while to get the check, but I attributed it to the busyness of the night. Almost all the food was delicious! Only docking a star for thr chorizo tacos which a few of us tasted and all agreed were too salty and overpowered the flavor. Overall, a good dinner choice! read more

When we told our neighbors that we were going to visit Coronado Island, they said that we had to eat at Miguel's Cocina as it is an outstanding Mexican restaurant. They were absolutely right! The food was delicious and served hot, and the ambiance, lovely. The best part of our visit to Miguel's was the service. All of the staff took such great care of us, particularly, our server, Julianne. She provided excellent service by being friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Our meal came out quickly, hot and beautifully prepared. When she asked if we would like to have dessert, my husband usually says "no, thank you" but this time, he asked about the dessert items. Julianne listed numerous choices but my husband said none of the items were quite what he had in mind. Julianne, being quick and very smart, she said, "What are you thinking of?" My husband described how he wanted sopapillas and honey. No problem! Julianne brought out the most delicious dessert! Julianne offered a level of service we have never experienced. Perfection! The food was simple yet unique and overall good! We got 2 kid's meals, a bean and cheese burrito and a quesadilla- both were good and my kids ate it all. The chips and salsa were also standard and given to the table when we got seated. They also gave queso, which was so good! I ordered the Miguel's flatbread, which tasted fresh and filling, I haven't had anything like it. The bread portion is more of a thicker/softer crust vs a typical crispy flatbread. The ingredients on the flatbread were good though, so worth a try! It is a very BUSY restaurant and therefore the service could have been better. The servers were running around like crazy, and barely attending the tables to refill water. At the time we didn't know there was a patio area you can sit in thats located through a walk way leads to patio. We decided to sitting the patio area that was very nice. Someone Give Aldo a Raise Took my brother and his girlfriend to Miguel's in Coronado while they were visiting. The food was fire, but the real MVP was our waiter, Aldo. This dude was on point. Quick with the service, hilarious with the jokes, and gave solid food recommendations. Also? Bro smelled expensive. Whatever cologne he's wearing needs to come with the chips and salsa. We brought our bikes and decided to have a picnic last minute. We didn't need parking, but from our bikes, it looks like street parking. The resturant itself is small and is in door with front porch outdoor seating as well. We ordered the Adobada and Enchilada taco plates to- go and it took about 15 minutes total. While we waited we biked around the area and rode back to pick up the food. The staff was kind and prompt with orders and pick up. We only bought the food and no drink and rode over to the Tidelands Park which coincidentally was hosting a movie at the park for free. We posted up and enjoyed our food while watching a movie. The food itself was average and a lot. We didn't finish it and tossed it away. Which was a shame because it is just one of the foods that was alright but not good enough to save as a leftover, or you know it will just sit in the fridge. The price was normal for a tourist area. About $15-20 a plate. Since we did to-go we didn't have to pay extra for service which was a money saver. Overall, it taste like a commercial Mexican resturant. There is nothing outstanding about it and it taste average. If you are in the area and super hungry, it will get satiated if you eat here. read more

My son devoured the rice and beans. I didn't know the refried beans came with cheese otherwise I would have asked for them without. They bring chips and salsa to your table at no charge along with their in house jalapeño cheese sauce (I didn't taste it but it looked good). The portions are large which is perfect for a meal after some beach time. They have seating inside and out and two gender neutral restrooms. Started out with the usual water, chips salsa and the white dip (my favorite) and ordered a blended mango margarita with chamoy (my other favorite). The only thing I would change about that was it needed to be blended just a little longer. We ordered the carnitas for 2 and because this was our second stop of the evening, my group of 4 shared this and still had plenty to take home. I don't know what happened to this restaurant! It used to be a guarantee of good service and good quality food! When we arrived, the hostess was rather rude in the 10 seconds we spoke to her to ask for a table. Then the waiter (he never told us his name, but he was a Mexican man) arrived 10-15 minutes later, "acting all funny", and took our order. When the food arrived, he threw it on the table as if he were serving food to prisoners in jail! The only person who behaved professionally was the busser (Gustavo). Obviously, I'm not going back to this establishment, but it's a shame that the quality of the service and food has dropped so drastically! I recommend you go to a taco shop near your house instead, and I assure you that you'll get better food and better service! read more
