Terrible if you want beans!, cheese burrito with no meat you've come to the right place!

We're long time fans of Miguel's and Miguel JR's. We actually like JR's food better. Sadly today was not the experience we've come to know and love.Seems one of the teammates came barreling in off shift greeting all the workers like long lost friends going back into the food service area talking and chatting along the way. She announced to all she was there to pick up her catering order for her father in laws birthday party. Good for her that she believes in the product she sells, but it was off putting to see her leaning on the counter tops talking to everyone while the store was very busy (it was lunchtime). She never let up and never stoped interrupting everyone's work. It's great that she likes the people she works with but if you're there as a customer, stay out of the prep areas and let everyone do their job. Wait for your food like the other customers and don't be a distraction. This won't prevent us from coming back but it's not appealing to see someone who shouldn't be in the prep areas walking around like she owns the place and leaning all over the front counter where everyone s food comes out to. And no one wiped that area down after she was on it. read more

Just mediocre food. Nothing special. The burritos we ordered were quite small and the flavor was not memorable. A frozen burrito from TJ's would have been cheaper and tastier. I was disappointed, but could have just been an off day. read more

My 1st time at Miguel's Jr on Tustin was a disappointment. Ordered El Potato Shredded Chicken Burrito. Tortilla looks like it barely touched the grill, cheese not all melted, not warmed all the way through. Lots of chicken but tasted salty, no other flavor just salt. Lots of potatoes. Asked for side of Guacamole; $1.59 for 2.5 oz. Cream with green coloring! No flavor at all. Mild salsa just liquid, barely any flavor. 2 stars for quantity of chicken & potatoes, 0 stars for flavor! read more

Miguel's Jr. offers Mexican food that is somewhere between a fast food restaurant and a full service restaurant. While that is not the kind of food everyone wants or expects from a place like this, to me it is totally awesome. I wish there was a location closer to where I live. The Beans, Rice, and Cheese (BRC) burritos are impossible to beat. They have a unique flavor in all the Mexican fast food places out there and one of the few things I get a specific craving for from time to time. While that's usually all I ever order, the enchiladas are also great. In fact, you can't really go wrong with much on the menu. read more

I may be biased, because I grew up in Corona, where Miguel's Jr was served on high school campuses for lunch. I have had more BRCs than I care to admit...but man are they tasty. Over the years I've tried different Mexican establishments, but I still get a craving for good old Miguel's Jr. now and again. I'm glad that they are expanding into the OC now so I don't have to wait so long between fixes. I usually get the Miguel's Jr. Original burrito with shredded chicken, which I love. They also have great nachos. The food is very filling so one burrito or an order of nachos is plenty. I'm also addicted to their hot sauce. Service is always good and I've never had a bad experience at any location in all the years I've been eating here. They are always friendly and usually very cheerful (unless they're really busy, but they are never rude). Sometimes the drive thru is a little slow, but there's usually a line and they are making everything fresh so it's understandable. I'm very aware that it's Americanized Mexican food, but I like it, and I'm an Americanized Mexican so who am I to complain? read more

*** Wonderfully delicious! *** I was originally introduced to this chain while working in the Inland Empire. I am so glad that there are more restaurants that have opened up in Orange County. How else can I describe the Miguel's original wet burrito besides, DELICIOUS! The Miguel's Jr. orginal wet burrito with marinated chili verde pork is absolutely a delight to eat! The burrito is soft, moist, and full of flavor. The burrito is evenly layered so I can taste the marinated chili verde pork, rice, and re-fried beans in every bite. This is easily my new favorite Mexican restaurant. Miguel's Jr is a winner in my book! How can I forget the Orange Bang. I haven't had an orange bang since I was a kid back in downtown LA. This whipped orange-like drink rounds off the meal very well. This is some really good home cooking brought to a fast food environment. We went to check out this new place for dinner the other night. At first glance I observed that this place has a drive thru so I kinda went hmmmmm thinking it may be classified as fast food... Surprisingly the interior of this place was clean (to be expected being new and all) and the menu appeared simple. So u start by placing ur order at the counter, pay, then take ur receipt to ur table and wait for ur ticket number to be called. This all happened pretty quickly so service here is not an issue. What is an issue to me is the flavor (or in this case lack thereof) of the food, which is critical. I'm a white meat carnivore so I chose the garbage burrito with shredded chicken. The chicken had no flavor, almost tasted like boiled chicken then shredded and maybe quickly marinated in a very light red sauce. The remaining content of the burrito was ok but the overall taste was lacking. Now maybe I need to try other options to formulate a better opinion however my first impression was not so great so probably would not give a second chance. Other Mexican restaurants in the area offer similar menu items with better flavorings. I'm not challenging the quality of ingredients but the chicken could use some improvement. A decent little family owned Mexican food joint. I came here on 1/11/16 and had lunch here. I had 2 shredded beef tacos, bean rice and cheese burrito. The tacos were very greasy but decent (kinda lacked flavor), the bean rice and cheese burrito was decent too. With tax and a small Coke the total was $10.86. Stopped at this Miguel's Jr location tonight before closing. Went through the drive-thru and was greeted by Sharie. Yes, she was fast and she got our order correct but her great attitude is what caught our attention. She seemed HAPPY...at CLOSING!...we pulled up to the window and Sharie was smiling. She WAS happy! I've passed by many times, and had an opportunity to try. I used the drive-thru, and the adjacent businesses seemed very slow. I made my way quickly. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito $2.39 , hard shredded beef taco $2.39 , and an XL Dr. Pepper $2.29. I was very thirsty from standing in line at Angel Stadium trying to get autographs. The burrito was excellent, and the taco was good, lots of cool, crisp lettuce and cheese; but was hard to find any tomatoes. The hot sauce was not bad, not very, spicy hot to hide the flavor. The shredded beef actually had taste, flavor. Some other vendors' hard taco meat doesn't have flavor! The take out is difficult to eat in the car. It's packaged in a plastic bag. The burrito was OK to eat, wrapped in standard paper - but the taco...It was inside a paper, envelope type bag. So to eat it, I had to flatten the plastic bag and place on my lap, inside the car. I was careful to not spill anything. I should have eaten inside the restaurant, but I didn't have time. I was glad I stopped in to try, the taco was nicely done, and the bean and cheese burrito makes me want to make a return visit! There's new things on the menu that I have yet to try, but I always order the same classics that made them famous...bean, rice & cheese burritos and their shredded beef tacos. I've been here a few times and they just don't seem to get it right like the other stores in the IE. I guess being one of the newer stores it takes time but this long to get it right? Upper Management needs to look into the store managers and find out the disconnect. Ordered some tacos and burritos for the family tonight and both burritos came nicely wrapped in raw flour tortillas. When I unwrapped the burrito the tortillas not only stuck to the wrapper but was as gray-white like cement. Very disappointing, since the better locations are too far from the OC. Came here for some Breakfast burritos. Even though they have a drive thru, we decided to stay and eat inside because us busy folks actually take more time to clean the car due to spillage. We tried their Carne Asada burrito and their Green Pig. I have to say, if you like Carne Asada in big chunks, this place won't disappoint. However, it isn't the largest burrito I've gotten especially when it's around $9 for one. As for their Green pig, slow roasted, flavorful carnitas....it's quite good. I have to say, both were really tasty, and as for all Miguel's locations, I love their tortillas. There's their small condiments bar that includes onions, cilantro, their famous hot sauce, and a green sauce. We got their Horchata and it's over $2 for one and there is no refills. However, you're allowed to refill from their soda dispensers. The other gripe I have is the way they put the cheese inside the burritos, it's all inside one part of the burritos, making it a chunk like taste when you bite into it. read more

I can't even express how excited I was when I found out they were building a Miguel's Jr in Orange. I am beyond obsessed with their bean and cheese burritos. I think the prices are a little higher than the ones out in the Inland Empire (Orange County inflation) but that's about the only con I have. Good service inside and at the drive through. I love the long drive through driveway they have too for when it gets busy. One of these days I'm going to branch out and get something other than a burrito but for now, I'm in heaven with my weekly visits. read more

My #1 favorite is the California Chile Burrito with added shredded beef. The burrito has a chile relleno (Anaheim chile in grilled egg batter stuffed with cheese), refried beans, Spanish rice, and cheddar cheese. I have loved chile rellenos since I was in Pre-School and Kindergarten. My dad would pick me from Montessori and we would stop at the 7-11 down the street. While I played Galaxian, my dad would purchase and warm up chile relleno burritos for us for lunch. I know I am dating myself, but this was a routine for me and my dad. Miguel's Jr.'s version brings back all of these childhood memories and tastes far better than those microwaved burritos. It is full of flavor from the green chile, gooey cheese, hearty refried beans, eggy batter, and tender shredded beef. The hubby always asks what I want and 90% of the time, it's the California Chile Burrito! Rating: 5/5 My #2 favorite is Miguel's Jr. Nachos. It come with your choice of shredded chicken or beef atop tortilla chips with refried beans, Española sauce, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. Usually I love this place, but the other day my friend and I went for dinner. She wanted to treat and in the past has received 50% off for military id for her order. This time the lead in charge told her it was only 50% off her meal. Can the works and leads get on the same page??! Every time I've been with my friend she has received 50% off her entire order. On top of that we asked for no cheese on the beans, which they put tons on. We found a hair on our guacamole and my daughter's quesadilla was hard as a rock. Breakfast Burrito Review- Miguel's has decided to compete in the breakfast arena. Back away Miguel's, leave the arena. There are way too many other restaurants in the area that make breakfast burritos 200% better than what we got this morning! We got machaca burritos- $8.40 each. Not only are they WAY over priced, but you have to pay $.79 extra for cheese! They are only half to 2/3 the size of a Troy's burrito (I measured, 5 1/5 inches). It was 75% refried beans! Where is the machaca we paid over $8 for? Last but not least, it took us close to 30 minutes to get our order through the drive-thru. Hubby was ready to eat his own leg by the time we got our food! So the moral of the story is: If you are going to compete in a new market, come in bigger and badder than the other players. You are not a Kardashian. We've been eating at Miguel's since the early 80s and although changes have occurred over those decades, the changes to their burritos now don't even resemble the burritos we have known and craved over the last 30+ years. The burritos are 1/2 the size, the tortillas are gummy and with the minimal under seasoned filling, the burritos are mostly chunks of folded tortilla. I finally broke down to write a review. The customer service is typically friendly so that's encouraging, but the tacos are becoming mediocre. Been going there a few years. Every Tuesday is taco Tuesday in our house! So, I let all of my kids decide if they want Miguel's or Los Ayalas (restaurant) up the street. Often we'll opt for Miguel's because of the convenient drive-thru but my kids are starting to complain and it is starting to become not worth it. It's not that we're tired of it either. And I should note, we always spend upwards of $30, not cheap. The last several times the taco shells have been hard to chew. Like an old stale shell that was reheated. And worse, the meat is always soggy and like mush. Not good shredded beef. As I was eating a taco, the meat fell out and I heard a thud. A clump of mush fell out. It actually grossed me out. We still enjoy the rice and beans but at the end of the day, we came for meat. If the meat continues to be served in this condition, it will be time to move on. read more

This is just me reviewing the bean/cheese and rice burrito. Why. It's the only thing I get from here when ever I come across miguel jr. Of course that's when I'm in the socal area. Without a doubt I love their bean cheese and rice burrito. I think it's just the best than anyone's around. Not even here in az compares to theirs.
