We made a reservation and we weren't seated until around 20 minutes after that time slot. Not a big deal, but there's really no good place to stand and we constantly we were in the way of other guests/servers. Anyone trying to walk in quickly left after hearing it was a 1.5 hour wait for a table so reservations are a MUST. We came on a weekend in October. Additionally, the room we were seated in was only heated by one small heater so it was pretty chilly. But totally worth it for the food! Staff was also very attentive and friendly despite how busy it was.

The room was compact, but fine for my husband and I for our 2 night stay. We knew beforehand that breakfast would be boxed for us and that was fine. I was happy that they provided yogurt was Chobani and actually had some protein in it (unlike most continental breakfasts that are a carb party). We rented bikes and kayaks during our stay. It was great that they had these for us to utilize. The bikes should be covered during storage, however. They were a bit rusty. This was the priciest place that we stayed during our 7 night trip, but I wouldn't consider it the best. After our stay, I do feel that our stay should not have cost us so much.

You shouldn't list yourself as a B&B and have continental breakfast. Being a B&B implies hot breakfast... period!*** Not only that, there was hardly anything on it... there was only orange juice, coffee, and tea... no apple or any other kind of juice. There was yogurt and fruit but there was only one kind of cereal (Cheerios), only 2 kinds of bread... white and wheat... No pastries, muffins, bagels, croissants, rolls, English muffins, doughnuts, etc. To be fair, I think there was oatmeal and there was banana bread that was pretty good. The one good thing I can say about the breakfast is that it was available at 7:30am instead of 8:30 like some of the other B&Bs we stayed at on this trip. ***Almost all of the other reviews of this place had HOT breakfast on them so I guess we were just ripped off.*** I would love to give this place a great review and I would probably have come back if it weren't for the breakfast ripoff.

We went in for a quick breakfast on a Tuesday at about 11:30 on our way home from Maine, just before they began to fill up. Definitely seems like a spot that both tourists and locals alike flock to. We ordered a chili cheese omelette and blueberry pancakes. The omelette was alright, though nothing to write home about as the chili wasn't my favorite. The homefries looked good but turned out to not be as seasoned and flavorful as they looked. The pancakes were the best thing, very thick and you get a generous portion, but they could've used slightly more blueberry flavor in my opinion. For the most part it's very run of the mill diner fare in a very simple atmosphere. It works as a fairly quick, decent spot when you're in the area or passing through, but aside from that I don't think I see myself going out of my way to stop at the Maine Diner.

If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.

I've been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of me and my dad having breakfast together at the corner table near the windows painted by our friend Heather. I've since moved away from home, but going to ADB has always been the first stop from the airport when I come visit my parents. Walking inside and getting hugs from Cindy and Noella, who know my usual order by heart--well, it's all part of coming home for me. That's why I was truly dismayed to learn that Dot had sold the business to new management. The new owner operates another restaurant on Route 1, which my dad and I tried a few years ago and were distinctly underwhelmed. When new management takes over a beloved restaurant like ADB, one of two things can happen. The new owner can try to maintain the spirit of the previous owners to make the transition as painless as possible, or the new owner can take a wrecking ball to the restaurant and change it entirely--sometimes for the better, but sometimes (and probably more often) for the worse. I'm sad to say the new owner has chosen the latter path, and ADB has suffered for it. The food is miraculous in that it is somehow bland and over salted at the same time. I am not sure how the kitchen managed to accomplish this feat. All of the old staff, with the exception of Cindy, have left. As other reviewers have noted, prices are up and quality is down. The place has been stripped of its heart, charm, and everything that made it feel like a second living room to so many. Maybe ADB will do fine this summer with the tourists who don't know any better, but I can't imagine it will drum up much business in the off-season. It really breaks my heart that I will never set foot in ADB again. We might start going to Dot's other ADB in Biddeford, but it won't be the same. A fixture of Kennebunk has been lost forever. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mike's All Day Breakfast, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The highlight of my meal was definitely the hashbrowns--tender and bursting with flavor. They are an absolute must-try! The rest of the breakfast was equally delicious, but those hashbrowns really stole the show. In addition to the great food, the service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure my dining experience was perfect. Hash browns, shredded potato style, were forgettable...not raw but also not especially well cooked or seasoned. Syscoesque guacamole, sourcream,pico on the side. I got eggs benny and the wife got ham and eggs home fries and toast. Eggs for both of us were cooked as ordered. Only thing I did not like was the home fries just seemed like they were just cooked in the deep fryer not much flavor. But compared to our experience the following morning at Palace Diner this is the better option price and taste wise. Waitstaff checked back and refilled our coffee a couple times. Inside was a typical mom and pop breakfast place plenty of tables to sit at with comfortable chairs. Was pretty empty when we arrived, but by the time we left it was 3/4 the way full Also one other thing we noticed was the cook handling the fresh baked muffins bare handed. That kind of turned my wife off a little.

We went in for a quick breakfast on a Tuesday at about 11:30 on our way home from Maine, just before they began to fill up. Definitely seems like a spot that both tourists and locals alike flock to. We ordered a chili cheese omelette and blueberry pancakes. The omelette was alright, though nothing to write home about as the chili wasn't my favorite. The homefries looked good but turned out to not be as seasoned and flavorful as they looked. The pancakes were the best thing, very thick and you get a generous portion, but they could've used slightly more blueberry flavor in my opinion. For the most part it's very run of the mill diner fare in a very simple atmosphere. It works as a fairly quick, decent spot when you're in the area or passing through, but aside from that I don't think I see myself going out of my way to stop at the Maine Diner.
