While I'm happy with the car I leased from here, the whole process was a nightmare. I had to basically babysit my salesperson and finance associate constantly check in on them to get updates. Paperwork filled out wrong twice. Every time I spoke to them it was something else they failed to inform me of. When I finally got my car they didn't know anything about the features told me to read the manual, and it was like I was an afterthought because they were too busy trying to help new costumers even though I had a delivery appointment. These people are unorganized. I don't recommend getting a car from here, try somewhere with a better record like Groove Subaru. I wish I would have. read more

Quite frankly this was the WORST encounter I have ever had. I bought my car at this dealership in 2018 and had a wonderful experience. I have been getting my car serviced in Greeley but recently moved back down to this area. Daniel Burk was the service agent and was great at first. He really seemed to care and was diligent about getting the details of what was occurring with my car(broken strut, radio malfunction and substance leaking). I was told it was going to be 3 days of work which I was 100% okay with. I dropped the car off on July 25th, after making the appointment at the end of June.I was told the car would take three days. On the 28th I called the dealership and he apologized for no contact, I told him there was no issue as long as the work was being done. I was told that the radio was being replaced, but the part was being ordered. The leak was a differential fluid and they fixed that, but the tech did not hear any issues with the strut noise and he "believed" me, so he personally would check it out and let me know on the 29th. I told him that was fine, drive as far as you needed to hear the noise but it would only need a block. Since Dan gave me his cell number I texted him on the 30th because I heard nothing. No response until the 31st. He told me no update and he would be personally driving it that day(even though he told me that days prior). On the 3rd of August 9 days after I sent him a text message indicating the time period of what was occurring and that I was receiving the run around. He became extremely defensive and unprofessional. Accusing me that it was my fault it was taking so long. They said they couldn't duplicate the problem and he was going to help me but now since I addressed the issue he was going to follow procedure and not take his personal time to help solve the issue. I asked for a different technician and was told it would be two months, so probably not a good choice. I then decided to pick up the car the next day, on the 4th and was asked to drive it around to show him the noise. I decided because of his attitude and unprofessionalism I would not have my car done at that dealership nor will I ever again. I didn't want people that couldn't hear the VERY apparent noise to fix the noise. When I picked it up he was condescending and rude because I refused his "help". He then lied on the report stating they drove it 10-20 miles and the mileage in/out was 1 mile. I took it to Greeley dealership that next morning and found that the strut was completely corroded and strut and mount needed to be replaced. I received my car the same day as they fixed it and was so pleased with how they handled the situation. Mike Shaw will never have my business and I have and will continue to share my experience with others! read more

Just bought my first Subaru from Mike Shaw in Thornton. Our salesman, Mike Mullen was super. He was very knowledgeable of the Subaru lineup. He was very helpful and most importantly not pushy! Mike set us up with a test drive and recommended that we drive the Forester for an hour or so. He suggested we "drive the expressway at 75". I have been buying cars for quite a few years now, but I have to say this was the smoothest purchase yet. We are very satisfied with our new Subaru. If it were possible, I'd give a BIG FAT ZERO! We drove a few hours to Denver to test drive a particular car and it was great, similar to ones I had driven in my hometown. After the purchase we discovered many serious things wrong with the car that our warranty doesn't cover. 1. The "cleaning" offered was crap. 2. Tire pressure gauge lit up the moment we drove it off the lot. They grossly overfilled the tires. We discovered that one had a slow leak. 3. There's some annoying noise coming from somewhere inside that started an hour into our drive. 4. Battery can't hold a charge. 5. Car shakes at 75 mph. 6. Crap windshield wipers (had to buy some new ones on the way home). 7. Windshield had some sort of film on it and created a very dangerous situation when it rained. 8. The sales department is a nightmare but the service reps are friendly enough.

I really can't believe that anyone would buy anything from a Mike Shaw dealership and come back for more abuse. But, I guess, there are people who don't know even when they're being cheated. I bought a Subaru Outback from Mike Shaw Subaru, and discovered when I got home that they had charged me DOUBLE MSRP for an extended warranty. I bought an extended warranty priced by Subaru at $1,600, and Mike Shaw charged me $3,200 for it. Of course I went back and canceled the plan, and they credited that amount on my loan, but I don't think consumers should have to study the fine print before signing a purchase agreement. If they did this to me, I' very sure they have done the same thing to many, many others. Some people just figured they got a fair deal and never checked the details. The Outback is a pretty good car and I'm generally happy with it, but anyone purchasing a car from any mike Shaw owned dealership should bring an attorney with them when they buy the car. read more

Called and told them I wanted to purchase a 2015 WRX and wanted to get the pricing below sticker . They said to do that I needed an appointment with their VIP manager Stephen. So I agreed and waited for almost 3 hours until the scheduled appointment time. Got there and stephen passed us off to Dusty, one of their many sales people who were there standing around. This kind of made the whole 3 hour wait seem a little stupid. Dusty proceeds to tell us that they add a $2,000.00 market increase to the sticker price and he might be able to get that reduced or waived but says they never sell below sticker "Lol" I say go ask, Dusty says okay I'll see if the manager might be in a good mood, I laugh again. He comes back and says no. We go home and find a Subaru dealer in Colorado Springs who's has the same car for almost 3,000.00 cheaper and that does not include the market increase of 2,000.00 so really 5,000.00 cheaper for the same car. The VIP manager Stephen said if other dealers want to give there cars away they can "Lol" Mike Shaw can ask whatever he wants for his cars, but when you try to avoid all the B.S. and they still give it to you anyway and then try to make it seem as if they are doing you a favor, well that is what really stinks. Moral of the story. If Mike Shaw never sells below sticker then do yourself a favor and call around because other dealers do. read more

I originally went to Mike Shaw Subaru to compare the Forester to other crossover SUVs. I wanted to make a quick, relatively painless decision (I don't really enjoy the protracted negotiations around car buying), so after my first visit I arranged to come back to the dealership after work for a final test drive and negotiation. I'll start by saying that I had glowingly positive experiences with most individuals at Mike Shaw Subaru -- notably with Allie, Mike, and Matt. However, during my follow-up visit I was paired with Dusty and my experience was horrible -- almost laughable, on par with an SNL skit if it hadn't been happening in real life. My friend and I rode on an Outback test drive with Dusty. I had done the standard internet research but was still indecisive and actually wanted the sales pitch on features, comparisons between models, etc. Dusty was totally unhelpful in this regard. I had to proactively ask informed questions to fill the enormous vacuum of silence as I drove. At one point he mentioned that he was from Boulder and my friend politely asked, "Oh, how did you end up moving to Thornton?" and he just replied, "It's a long story." I guarantee it's neither long nor interesting, but okay. Hoping to draw out information, I asked what his take was on the oil consumption in Foresters based on issues with the 2011-2013 models. He brushed me off, saying, "Every brand has its quirks" -- this would be an okay (if vague) answer, if I hadn't been referring to a class action lawsuit that he was clearly unaware of. The kicker was when we pulled back into the parking lot. At this point Dusty starts to tell me that they don't begin to discount these cars from MSRP at all because they're so popular that they just fly off the lot. (Even if this is true in Colorado, it makes Subaru sound arrogant.) I turn to him, having been put through this routine before, and say that I don't negotiate from MSRP, but from dealer invoice or true dealer cost. I also note that I checked TrueCar right before walking in, and there are several dealer quotes that are below MSRP on this model in this area, so that doesn't really seem to gel with what he's telling me. Dusty, clearly threatened and peeved, interrupts me and says, "First of all, I'm a TrueCar certified dealer, and second of all, if you'd let me finish.." -- I don't know what was said after that because my friend and I were too busy picking our jaws off the floor. My friend and I both work/have worked in client service roles and we were shocked by Dusty's unprofessional behavior. Even if we had been ignorant, loud, bulldozing customers, which we weren't, the role of a salesperson is to listen and be helpful. Particularly when the customer is making a huge purchase decision and getting ready to write a check for thousands of dollars. As I said, nothing against the other sales reps I worked with who were professional and a delight, but I was so turned off by this one experience that I went to Mazda and wrapped up my business there. read more

1. During the sales process, the salesperson said they would fix the check engine light issue and the overheating issue. Shame on me for not making them write it down on the "We Owe" sheet. They disabled the check engine light for me so it was not illuminated for 1 day. It turned back on the 2nd day I owned the vehicle and has continued to overheat. I bought it "As Is" so I'm stuck with this issue. I suspect they knew about the issue which is why they allowed me to buy it for such a low price. They also charged me for the check engine light issue that they did not resolve and said that they paid some of the repair cost as well. I guess it was only fair to them for me to pay my share for something they said they would fix but didn't. 2. The salesperson said they would include the title and registration in the sales, but they only cut me a check for the sales tax. I still have to pay fees at the DMV. 3. The day I went to pick up and purchase my new car, there was a new dent on the driver's side door with a fresh vertical line of gold paint on it. Whoever moved that car moved it too close to other cars and someone opened their car door on my new car (the sales manager said legally it wasn't my car yet, since that was half an hour before I signed the paperwork. I guess that means they can do whatever they want to the cars after the test drive and before the purchase and you're stuck with their damages). The salesperson said they would have the dent fixed, although he smiled as if it were funny. The repair was unsatisfactory and when I told him I wasn't pleased with it he told me it was, "Your word against ours... you guys took the car for a drive without us... We said we'd try to fix it..." implying that I put the dent on the door the night before when I test drove it and should accept their mediocre repair job. 4. I expressed my concerns about the way the salesperson spoke to me to the sales manager, who was immediately defensive. I felt like he was talking down to me because I am a woman and he repeatedly interrupted me. His tone and speech were short, his voice was raised and it was only when I said I was aware of their "graduation sales special" and that I was considering a new Subaru, that he changed his tone with me. He agreed with me that their lot is too small. 2 other employees have stated that dings from car doors opening onto their cars occur frequently at this dealership. Luckily their "dent person is really good," however he is only there on Mondays and he's swamped. 5. After waiting at the DMV for 2 hours today to register the car, I found out the title person wrote my first name incorrectly. Shame on me for not seeing it as closely--one letter was off in my name. I had to pay to extend the registration on my temporary plates and then drive all the way again to the dealership to have the "title person" fix her error and reimburse me for the registration. She didn't even acknowledge or apologize once to me for her mistake. She tried to argue with me and say that my name must have been incorrect elsewhere in the documentation and it wasn't. It felt as if my time and the inconvenience she caused me meant nothing to her. If she had simply been sincere and apologized to me for her mistake, I would have said to forget about the money it cost me to extend the registration because I should have caught it too. Although that wouldn't have changed the fact that I would still have had to make another trip to the dealer anyway, I would have felt as if she was a caring person and would have felt more positive about the whole experience with Mike Shaw Subaru. I will add as I wrote this review, that the office manager did return my phone call today and she did sound sincere when she apologized to me on behalf of the "title person" and she reiterated their tireless tune of, "We want our customers to be happy." Shortly after that the "title person" called to apologize. She said she didn't apologize to me because she didn't want me to be more upset and in the same breath she said she did apologize while her back was toward me but I must not have heard her. I am deeply saddened by this experience. I was so excited about my new-used and pretty car. Now it just reminds me of the horrible first time experience I have had with a car dealer. Luckily, it still is a darn good looking car and I will move on. I understand that mistakes happen, but they should acknowledge them, they should apologize and they should act and resolve the matter promptly at the customer's convenience, not theirs. I am wary of future relationships with car dealers. The stereotypes of car dealerships only caring about your money and nothing more were absolutely true here. Their motto is, "We want you to be happy," and despite my communication with them that I was not happy, it didn't matter. read more

After shopping around all of the Subaru dealerships in the Denver area Mike Shaw Subaru was demeaning and rude. A young maybe 18 year old sales "man" Anthony, told us rudely "good luck finding a Subaru under 150k miles for under $8,000" and then tried to sell an old used car for 14k. We have done plenty of research and know what the cars are worth and don't need to be talked to in a demeaning way. This is not the first Subaru we have seen. "Good luck" Mike Shaw Subaru. read more

Frank Cruz, Finance Manager at Mike Shaw Subaru, failed to disclose key terms of the finance agreement by charging $4000 fee for a services contract. I purchased a 2011 Subaru Legacy on June 14, 2014 for a sticker price of $16500. I ran my credit score three weeks prior to going into the dealership and my score showed as a 750 on Fico. When I was pre-approved over the phone, the Salesman, Matt Stephenson, told me over the phone that my Fico score was a 670. Then the finance manager, Frank Cruz, said that my score was actually a 656. So right off the bat they were not honest about my credit score. After agreeing to purchase the car, Matt came back and said they would be willing to finance me at a 9% rate. When I got in Frank Cruz' office to discuss finance further, I let him know immediately that I did not believe their credit score was accurate. He proceeded to tell me that he could give me a 5% rate, but I would need to purchase a services contract. He never actually mentioned the cost of that services contract would be $4000 and only cover the car up to 100,000 miles. When I asked him about the details of the contract, he stated that it would be best to just sign the paperwork and that I was getting a good deal. As soon as I returned home, I realized they had charged me $4000, which was at no point disclosed during the signing. Frank never discussed percentages or any of the fine details of the contract. On another note, when I got in the car to drive away, I noticed that the oil light on the car was on. I pointed this out to Matt, who proceeded to tell me it is no big deal and not to worry about it. I then checked the oil level, and saw that it was extremely low. I told him I was not leaving until they put more oil in the car. I asked him to have the mechanic perform a full oil change, as it would only take a few extra minutes, but Matt was so concerned about getting me out the door and on to swindle his next customer that he refused to ask the mechanic to do this. The mechanic stated that the car was actually 1.5 quarts low on oil, and filled it up. Also, I was covered by a warranty under the certified pre-owned contract, yet they deceptively sold me an additonal $4000 services contract. read more

From the moment I walked in he made everything simple, straight forward and honest. He truly cared. His customer service was exceptional. He went above and beyond to accommodate me. I think most of the time people go into a dealership defensive, rightfully so in many cases. With Shane all of that went out the door. He is a true professional with extensive product knowledge and a sincere understanding of what purchasing a car meant to me. Mike Shaw met all those things for me. My first lease after owning my last car for 11 years. Went to Groove first. Horrible, high pressure and high priced! At Mike Shaw, I was helped by Levi, who was laid back and gave me zero pressure and Zero kick back throughout my dealings with him and the dealership. The short version is that I got the car I wanted. The lease I wanted. The trade in value I wanted and the service I expected. He even brought my car to me at work once it was ready. I went back for tinting and clear bra (which was also a sweet deal) and their accommodations in their waiting area was all I needed (power outlets, coffee, comfy seating). Mike Shaw started off to be a great dealership for the first year of my lease but have recently started having many issues. Last week I went in for an oil change. They explained to me that my car needed new tires. NEW TIRES. My car is exactly 1 year old. I explained how upset I was as they told me the back two had nearly no tread left. I argued about it and explained that cannot be true as I have 21,000 miles on the car. Mike Shaw put the LOWEST quality tires on my brand NEW Subaru. If you look on any tire rating website the tires are rated 2.4 out of 5 stars...really glad I pay so much for my lease. I advise you to buy a tire warranty from them...that is if this is the absolute last dealership you can go to. Then they tried to tell me that "it depends on how often I drive and how I drive the car" I can assure you I was not doing doughnuts and driving like a mad person with my car I drive it with a lot of care. They disregarded my complaint and said I could talk to Subaru of America because they put the tires on the car. Then Mike Shaw said they could replace the tires for $500 mind you the same shitty quality tire that was put on it before. SURE THING I'll pay you another $500 next year too... not. My second issue was my key fob. It stopped working so I replaced the battery which still didn't do anything. The man at the front desk at Mike Shaw said I could bring it in and they would have to re-program it (making it seem like the appointment would take no less than an hour) I drive all the way up to the dealership in rush hour traffic to go fix the problem and when I get there the front desk associate says that I would have to drop it off for 3-5 days and would also need my spare key. Is there no communication here? I left my job early in DTC to go bring it up there not knowing I needed the spare key or making arrangements to keep my car there that long. I so displeased with this dealership. I spent $847 on brand new tires from Discount tire and won't be returning to Mike Shaw again. read more

My family and I have been going here since 2012. We have bought two cars from Mike Shaw Subaru in that 5 year period. Mike Shaw not only makes you feel at home but they take care of you. I would go no where else to buy a car. They take the time to sit down and really work to find what best fits your needs and wants. Also the service department is great. We have gotten to know several of the service writers here and love them. There hasn't been problems with either car, only a repair from a small fender bender. Subaru did everything they could to make the process quick and painless. They also work with you to help you maintain the integrity of your car. They are more then willing to help take care of you and the needs of your car. I highly recommend if your buying a car to talk to Cliff Swaim, and if you need a great service writer Cathy is your gal! I would go no where else! read more

We test drove cars at many different dealerships on Saturday, and he was the only salesman who didn't push us to make a choice before we left the lot. After deciding to go with the Forester, we researched prices for a couple days and negotiated the price of our new Subaru via email. So this was the first stop on trying to find my step son a new vehicle. We knew he was challenged on credit. I have worked in the industry and I know the dance that many dealers do. These guys are definitely stuck in the 70s. I told the green sales person that what I wanted for my step son and what I wanted to see for down payments. Not only did he did not listen but I caught the green horn in a lie. He wrote down the down payment options. He later stated he did not. But when the one wheel wonder manger came out with their best deal I calmly stated we were done due to the fact they did not listen and the sales person lied. The reaction from him told me he lied. Of course we herd them call us Jerks on the way out. They are unethical and not worth the time that you will never get back. There are other Subaru dealers that will listen and be more than happy to work with you. I wish I could give a quarter star. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Unfortunately, I bought my 2016 Crosstrek from them. I went to Mike Shaw because they had the color of car that I wanted and they said they would match another dealers price, extended warranty and maintenance contract offer. Throughout the sales transaction, I was repeatedly told that the warranty was included in the price. I was naive in signing the contract without fully understanding it. When I reviewed the contract at home I discovered that they charged me $4800.00 for a 3rd party extended warranty which they insisted was included in the price of the car. Since the car was on order and I had not picked it up yet, I went back to have the warranty taken off the contract. Pete Beckingham, the finance guy, wrote up a new contract with us, cancelling the old contract. At that point, I was happy just to get out of the $4800.00 warranty and that still wasn't even close to the other dealers offer for the service maintenance and warranty. Now, almost THREE months later, and numerous calls to Pete Beckingham, with his assurance that the new contract had been submitted, it still has not been resolved. I have repeatedly emailed him to get verification of this and have not gotten a response. I then stepped it up and sent an email to Dominic Scrivner, Managing Partner, since he seems to be the one who responds to the reviews on this site, giving him the opportunity to resolve the situation before I post my negative review. Once again, I have not heard back from him either, so here it is. I thought Mike Shaw was a trustworthy organization as we had previously purchased a vehicle from them many years ago, boy was I wrong. read more

Internet dept is a waste of time. Their retail prices are set around KBB high retail. The internet dept won't talk or deal with you on price on the phone or over email - they insist that you come in for the high pressure sales pitch. REALLY ?? What's the point of having the convenience of internet sales? Have you not figured out yet that people want to buy in a quick and convenient way, without having to follow the tired old car sales cliches. On December 26th 2008, I visited Mike-Shaw Subaru's lot and I was greeted and assisted by two Mike Shaw employees that promised to price this car as COSTCO car purchase program. I liked the 2009 Subaru Outback 2.5XT limited that I test drove but mistakenly trusted Mike Shaw-Subaru for a respectable car dealer as we negotiated sales price and terms for this new car. One shady thing the salesmen requested that we signed a paper to show our interest into the car when he submitted a price to his boss I should had left. We basicaally purchased the car on a plain paper. Was my understanding that your car dealership is listed with the Better Business Burrow and as such I trusted your car dealership to be fair priced on new cars, maintenance service, and establish a good customer dealer relation especially during this hard economic time period. As I mention before my wife and I liked the 2009 Outback 2.5 XT limited with an MSRP of $34,811, and we settled on $32,950 purchase price, but I was deceived into believing that it was a fair price, and that the salesman would honor the COSTCO car purchase program price as he promised prior of the test drive. You see, when my daughter checked the price for this car at a different dealership one week later the price was $29,219 (she is also interested in the car). The dealer admitted that I overpaied but did not do anything to correct it not even offer a non cash refund. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP if you do not want be lied and overcharged They also offer an extended warranty for $2000, regular price at other dealer is $1,200. I did find that this pactice of promising COSTCO or SAMS discount and not applying are comon with this dealer. I just bought my first car, and was pretty happy with the experience. Nester did a good job walking me through the whole process. We negotiated for about an hour about price for my used 2012 Impreza, and they were able to come a little below market price for me. I've had the car about a month, and noticed the breaks caused the car to shake a bit when braking at high speeds. With my purchase I also got the extended service agreement, keep in mind. I brought the car in to get looked at, and they explained the problem clearly. Rotars and wheels aren't covered in the service agreement, but because I brought it in so close to when I purchased it, they covered the cost of the fix for me. So far I have been really happy with this dealership, and would recommend them to anyone with a head on their shoulders. Tip: come in knowing what you want, and what the fair market price is on the vehicle you want. Do your research before hand, it will give you much better ammunition to settle for something you really want. If you have a solid request, with good reasons to back it, they will make it happen for you. read more

PLEASE PLEASE READ. Walking into this dealership was literally the worst decision me and my family could have ever made. DO NOT trust this dealership, they have the worst management and have the worst customer service I have ever experienced my whole life. DO NOT give this company anymore business, they are crooked. We were in our very first lease with a 2016 Fiat 500, and Jaymie Chew would not stop calling us about buying a 2017 WRX. Now this is my fiancees dream car, and he works he's ass off to support our son and me, and Colorado these days, its fucking hard to keep up with the cost of living, but you know what we were in the dealership all day with Jaymie Chew and she made us feel really comfortable and help us get the payment to right around $100.00 more then what we were paying for the Fiat, but now leasing the WRX. We gave the dealership all stars and made two payments on the WRX already when we got the phone call that literally ruined our lives. Jaimay a manager called us, which all mangers here are terrible so it doesn't matter who we talked too, but he informed us we owe then $8,200 since we broke our lease with Fiat. We instantly said no this was not part of the deal we had no idea about this $8,200 fee and if we did we would have not signed anything, but we did sign a paper a month ago saying we are responsible for any other fees. Thinking okay $200 or $2000, but $8,200 is just ridiculous, thats another car, school for our son, my fiancee, or even me. This is money toward a house that we have been trying get which now is on hold again. The saddest part about this whole experience is Ally bank is who we have the Fiat through we talked to them that day and they have and showed us a recording of then telling JAYMIE CHEW about the $8,200 fee and she still only cared about the sell other then having integrity. I know you probably make that no problem, for us it is hard fucking work to pay something like that off. Either way we talked to every manager there and all of them said it's too late you've had the WRX for a month now its yours there no getting out of it, even though they waited a month to tell us about this fee. They schemed us into this car, and we feel stupid because if we would have just called Ally bank and asked them ourselves about what we have to do to get out of a lease we would have known. We trusted the dealership to do this for us and we trusted you Jaymie Chew, you met our family and you friended us just to get your sell. I don't know how you can sleep at night and I am a strong believer in Karma. They took the advantage of us not knowing anything about leases, and they took the advantage of there paperwork and management. Please call your bank yourself, and verify everything before you sign anything. We are now stuck with paying the dealership $8,200 on top of leasing the 2017 WRX with not one apology or sorry for the inconvenienced from the management. Sad how a dealership can mess up your morals and make you feel like your better then a 24 year old man supporting a family. We are all equals it makes me sick just thinking about it. read more

This was a terrible experience all around here. I bought my car a month ago and they still haven't paid off my trade in. Which is now sitting on their lot for sale. So now I'm being threatened with late fees from my financial institution. My tint job which was supposed to take "2 hours" and actually took 8 was done so terribly that I now have to bring it back because it is peeling and bubbled on every window. Every time I call (8 times now) about my payoff they assure me I have "no worries" and that they are hand delivering a check. My bank has still received no check from them. I have even taken time from my day to go up to them and ask about the payoff. Still nothing. The person who works in that department is mysteriously always "off that day". What a disappointment this whole experience has been. I wouldn't recommend using this place to buy a new or used car. Ever. And I will never be back either. read more

I have had problem after problem with this dealership. I am currently leasing a car from them. As I was driving my car home, after signing all of the papers and everything, they called me to let me know that they forgot to have me present Proof of Address papers. I had to meet back up with them for that. Then a few days later, I get a text from one of them saying they forgot to ask to see my license, so can I please text it over. So I had to do that. Finally, I tried to sign into the My Subaru account and it wasn't working. Time after time no matter what I tried, it wasn't working. I emailed them asking why this was, and they said that if it was within a week of me leasing the car then they could maybe help, but since it wasn't then they weren't sure. I had to email the My Subaru people and ask what the problem was, since it said my VIN was already registered to an account. Turns out the Mike Shaw guys put my email in totally wrong, so even the password reset emails weren't coming through. It just seems like one thing after another with these guys...they need to get it together. read more

I purchased my car from Mike Shaw 7 years ago. I like my car, although I was completely misled about the type of gas it required. The salesman told me to use regular unleaded 85 octane gas, but when I picked my car up and was about to drive off the lot, I was told to buy the most expensive gas. This information would have changed my choice of the car I bought. I have been a loyal customer for 7 years, going to Mike Shaw for all my services thinking that the service staff was always helpful and pleasant. Recently I took my car in for an oil change. I was waiting for my car when Kathy brought me an 8 page printout outlining $7000 worth of services they recommended to be done asap. I was in shock and my first thought was to trade my car in for another one which takes cheaper gas. I spoke with the salesperson, who told me that they wouldn't give me even the average trade in amount because my car needed all this work. As part of this "recommended work", the Mike Shaw price for a 60,000 mile service for my car was $1000. I checked with two other places and was quoted $600 at each of them I took my car to another Subaru dealer for the work and was expecting them to recommend some type of additional service but they recommended no additional work! It seems that I saved about $6,400 with that one call. I am now taking my car to another dealership and will make sure that I do not buy another car from Mike Shaw or use their service department. Their new car prices may be comparable to other dealers, but why not buy a car from a dealer where you can depend on their service department to be honest, fair and not suggest unnecessary work? Lastly, shop during the month but don't buy a car until they offer an awesome deal. If you buy a car from this dealer, I recommend that you go elsewhere for service. I did ask the service department if their recommendations were based on average mileage for 2006 models, or based on the specific mileage my car has or if it was based on whether or not my car had received a particular service OR if it was because my car actually needed something. I didn't get an answer. I still do not know what they base their recommendations on, because the other dealer didn't see that my car needed these any services at all. read more
