The absolutely worse experience EVER. They sold my retired husband a used 2006 Dodge Dakota that they knew had major issues. After paying for a rebuilt transmission, catalitor converters, brakes, tires, ball joints and struts we have paid over $7,000 in repairs and no one will even return our calls. I get an email from the sales person said the car sold as soon as it got it in. Awesome no problem but be a respectable business and update your website. Called an hour ago about test driving a Crosstrek Sport. Spoke with Dan the sales manager and we set up an appointment for midday to specifically test drive the Crosstrek sport. I drive out 20 miles to test drive. I show up and they let me know they've known all day they have zero Crosstreks of any type to test drive. They tried to spin it and say they do have Outbacks available, which is a completely different price range. Frustrated. Shady for their sales manager to act like a car is in stock that day when it isn't. Great car buying experience. Ricky was knowledgeable on the WRX and was not pushy; great people skills and friendly. He was literally waiting for me at the door 5 minutes before our appointment time. The sales manger Jared took the time with me on the phone to answer all my questions and we actually came to an agreement on the price of the car and trade in before I even went to the dealership; our agreement was honored when I arrived. When I went back to finance to sign all the paperwork Peter had everything ready to go and explained all the charges line by line. He did not try to sneak in anything that was agreed on beforehand. I bought a (non subaru) used car here last week, and it was a pretty mediocre car buying experience. My salesman was nice and didn't pressure me much at all, but I could tell the sales manager and one of the finance guys were pressing him to try to make a sale. The worst part of the thing was getting the financing figured out. They presented me with some pretty mediocre numbers and I walked out. They told me nearly every bank had turned me down. I got online and got pre-approved with capital one auto finance at a rate that was half of what they were quoting me and called back, and they told me the pre-approval didn't mean much and cap one had already turned me down. I asked if they had a reference number or anything for the application and I was told they didn't have anything like that. I told them I was going to call capital one and ask about the application they submitted. Not five minutes later (as I'm on the phone with capital one) they call me back and tell me they can make the deal with my pre-approval. So I go in to the dealer again and agree to buy the car, but I'm told I can't take delivery of the vehicle until my down payment check clears. I asked why and they told be it was because I was using "outside financing", even though they use capital one in house. I agreed anyways, but once I was done signing papers in the finance office the finance guy I dealt with this time (who was great) told me I could take the car no problem, but I had to wait till Monday for their service department to do a safety inspection and fix a loose shift knob. So I came in on the Monday to pick up the car, and apparently the service tech was not told about the shifter issue so it wasn't fixed despite it being an apparent safety issue. Also the car was completely out of gas, so much that it started sputtering on the way to the closest gas station. I never requested they fill it up but I suppose I feel when you spend $19k at a dealer it would be normal to drive away with a full tank. Not the worst dealership, but I was not impressed at all. The car is great, they didn't hide anything about it, but the buying process sucked. Edit: I've also noticed that my review is one of the only reviews that hasn't been responded to. I called the internet sales person at Mike Shaw Subaru in Northglenn, Cliff, that I bought three other cars from. He told me to come in when we agreed upon a trade in offer that they were making. He "forgot" to tell me that he would not be able to offer the suggested sales price on Edmond.com or KBB.com like he had done on the past three cars I bought from him. I made an offer above what I would have normally accepted and they said no. I will be shopping somewhere else for my next car. read more

Have never had a good or even average experience here. When I bought my car (new), I was tricked into understanding a bonus being offered was something totally different than it was and was therefor useless to me. BE CAREFUL- they are absolutely not looking out for you at all. I had multiple issues with my car before the 36k-mile warrantee was up (which were fortunately covered) but the problems were never fixed the first time. Sue in service is great, however... not that I ever want to have enough experience with a service department to establish a relationship... Time for an upgrade in service, salesmen, management, phones being answered (AHH!), and a car's overall performance. It is a beast in the snow though. read more

Not a fan at all. Went in over the previous weekend and test drove a car, and got the typical car salesperson experience. The associate brought over another sales person to chat with me even though at the outset I let them know I was not going to be purchasing that day. They were almost doing a good cop/bad cop thing with me, and very high pressure. "What do we have to do to get you in the car today?" "I have a rookie sales manager on the desk looking to prove himself today, so this deal will only be this good today" After I firmly told them I would not be purchasing that day, they literally walked me to the door, and refused to give me a quote even on what they could let the vehicle go for. All the while, the entire time we had been talking, alluding to a very low purchase price and payment amount (which I figured was too good to be true). They never sent me a price, and sold the vehicle I was looking and and never contacted me back. I called the next day to see if that car was in fact sold, and they convinced me to come in the next afternoon to look at another car. I got there and the person I made an appt with was nowhere to be found. I ended up talking to someone else who basically said there was no possibility of even getting in the ballpark of what I was looking for. He tried to talk me into a lease which, with the monthly lease payment, amount down, and residual value actually equated to several thousand dollars more than the actual MSRP. Thankfully, I can do math, and was able to take my business elsewhere, and workout a deal that met my initial needs. read more

I don't have experience with the sales department here but I have spent quite a bit of time with the service department. I purchased my Subaru at Flatirons in Boulder but was not impressed at all with their service folks- they would always fail to call me when my car was ready and weren't able to fix a lot of issues I had. I was also driving all the way from Downtown Denver to Boulder just to get my car serviced. Then I found Mike Shaw, and I am very glad that I did. This dealership a mile or two away from my office. They were able to successfully fix all of the issues that Flatirons couldn't fix or address. Make sure you request Beth Bailey to be your service advisor. The level of service Beth has provided me with has been exceptional. She is always willing to have her techs check out any little issue I come across and always greets me with a smile no matter how busy the service department gets. Mike Shaw is also completely honest regarding what your car truly needs to have done. I highly recommend getting your Subaru serviced by Mike Shaw! read more

This review is for new car sales. We were looking at the new 2020 Outback' s and were lucky enough to have Zach demo the Outback to us. We tested the 2.5L Outback and the 2.4 turbocharged Outback of which is amazing. Zach's presentation, knowledge of Subaru's (he actually previously worked at the U.S. Subaru facility), demeanor and willingness to help was a welcome change. My boyfriend leased a car for 3 years from Subaru, then (per instructions) returned it to Mike Shaw on 104th and Huron. MONTHS later, we started receiving toll fees for the plate that was in my boyfriend's name, thought he'd returned the car in near perfect condition. He tried tirelessly to get a response for Mike Shaw, but they would not respond or help him. He finally hade to file a POLICE REPORT to get the toll fees taken care of, after months of acquiring more and more. Mike Shaw Subaru is dirty, evasive, and an absolute joke of a company. I'm incredibly disappointed with my experience at Mike Shaw. There was a miscommunication between us (myself & boyfriend) and the sales person regarding pricing, which did make us feel very misled. However, that is not the issue I have. Their "sales manger" Brandon, I believe was his name, came in to try and help the situation and when he came in, he only introduced himself to my boyfriend and continued the conversation. Not only did he not acknowledge me in anyway, but when I had to stick my hand out to introduce myself he asked "oh is this for FOR you?" Then went back to speaking to only my boyfriend. The blatant lack of respect they showed me was atrocious. After I explained the issues, he lied straight to my face and told me the lowest they could go on the car was $25,595 even though the internet price was $24,500. When we brought this to his attention, he said "I guess we can honor that price" I took my trade in and $20,000 cash to AutoNation Subaru and I highly suggest that if you are in the market for a Subaru, you do the same. I live 5 minutes from Mike Shaw, and I felt better driving 30 minutes to Centennial to conduct business with people who respected and valued my business. I try to give every dealership the benefit of the doubt, since they can get bad reputations, but the absolute lack of respect is where I cross the line. read more

Save yourself a headache and purchase your vehicle somewhere else. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I can only imagine how many other people they have tried to scam out of money. On top of paying $1400 in taxes for my car, I paid an additional $600 in taxes. Kept all my paperwork. They tried to only issue a check for $800 to the dmv and tried to stick me with the rest. It has been a nightmare to get the $589 back that they now owe to me. The funny thing is they cant produce the check they claim they sent to the dmv for $1409. They can only produce a copy of a check they sent to the Dmv for $800. Scandalous business. Just admit you made a mistake and make it right. read more

Last week we went back to Mike Shaw & Cliff Swaim to lease a 2nd car and had another great experience. Once again, we knew exactly which model we wanted and we got exactly what we wanted. Cliff made everything so easy - I called him on Tuesday and we drove off in our new car on Thursday night. Josh in Finance was great to work with and got us through the paperwork in less than an hour and also managed to add on some extra insurance without a significant increase in our monthly payment. I have been buying cars for more years than I care to admit but none of my other experiences were as exceptional as the 2 I've had at Mike Shaw. These guys are great. I worked with Shane, who worked for me to beat the price of another dealership on a new 2020 crosstrek. I had been in contact with the other dealerships, but they just did not have the same level of service as Shane had! He was usually very fast in responding to me and had the car I wanted (drove it down himself) within a couple of weeks. On the day I was receiving the car, he sat with me and kindly explained all the features. I highly recommend these guys!!! So. My wife made an appointment with a salesperson last night to test drive a vehicle. We arrived 5 minutes before said appointment, let the receptionist know who we were there to see. She paged said salesperson and told us to help ourselves to coffee or tea. We then proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait some more. All while random staff and the same receptionist are milling about or sitting seemingly doing nothing but waiting for the workday to end. Finally after 30 minutes we walk out. No one tries to stop us, or asks if we need any help. Look. I understand sometimes you get tied up and can't get to a scheduled appointment on time. I also know that as a professional, you have an obligation to check-in with your customer, or let someone on your team know you are running behind, or, just assign someone else. None of this happened. All we got were blank stares, with everyone assuming we were being taken care of. At no point did anyone say " Sorry, Mr. Sales Dude is tied up with another client, but maybe I can help you?" or "Sorry we're behind schedule, do you have any questions I can answer?" There are signs and placards all over this business, (including the men's room, which felt a little weird, but that's me) saying how much they value their customers. We saw no evidence of this value whatsoever, and indeed left feeling angry and completely devalued. This review is not meant to rate this dealership's ability to put you in the right vehicle at the right time for the right price since we never even got close to that juncture. What this review is meant to convey is one moment in time that was an epic customer service fail. Thanks for wasting our time Mike Shaw. read more

He met with my daughters and me and spent all the time necessary to make my experience a very pleasant one. Of course I bought the vehicle!! It is exactly what I wanted. MSS had the specific Subaru I wanted, so drove the vehicle I liked to test it out. I then negotiated the price on the new car and the trade-in with the salesperson. One of the better negotiation experiences I've had. It was quick and to the point. The piece of this that I disliked is the way I was treated by one of their finance managers. He was condescending through most of the experience, especially once I told him I wasn't taking him up on his warranty offer. I understand that I wasn't putting more money in his pocket, but finding win-win scenarios based on the customer might be a better approach for his wallet than the pretention. If MSS cares about having customers coming back to your dealership, actually partnering with your customers would be helpful. This old school approach to deceptive sales is getting stale. read more

I bought a crosstrek here within 2 hours. Worked with Alex Vang who was awesome. He matched the quote I brought in from another place without hesitation. He didn't try to bs me or try to upsell me when I told him what I was looking for. He was really friendly and willing to negotiate. He did try to pull a last minute increase in the price but I put on my haggle face and he was very gracious about it. I went to 3 other places before this dealership and none of them were as upfront with me. Also worked with Alex Connor in finance and when I said no to extended warranty he didn't push it, which I highly appreciate. Alex didn't charge to detail the car and fill it up before sending me out. He even sat with me while I put together a last minute insurance policy because my old one wasn't comprehensive. He even gave me hotpot recommendations. If you want to leave a dealership with a car and feel awesome about it, I'd come here. read more

So I'm sure there are good, honest people that work here, but as a whole, this place (specifically, Marv) IS the stereotypical slimy car dealership experience. I leased a car here 3 years ago, and that experience was ok for the most part. Recently, they called me to tell me my lease was almost up (duh) and that they really wanted to buy the car from me due to the high resale in Colorado. I made an appointment for 2:00, since I had to drive about 30 miles to get there. When I got there, "Marv" wasn't there yet and didn't show up until about 3:10. When he did, he spent about 30 seconds looking at the car and came inside and said (in between breaths, as he literally looked and sounded as though he was going to die right there on the spot) "are you the one trying to sell the Forester?" I mentioned that the thought hadn't crossed my mind until THEY called and told me they wanted to buy it from me. After his thorough inspection (huffed and puffed around the vehicle for 15-20 seconds), he told me the car had hail damage and that he "wasn't interested in having to disclose that to someone" and walked away before I could even digest what he had just said. First of all, the car does NOT have any hail damage. It has never even been in a hailstorm. The car has been in a garage for 3 years and barely driven- it's 15,000 UNDER on miles and is in perfect condition. The car, however, is beside the point. I have no need to sell it to them, I merely showed up (on time) for my appointment because they were basically begging me to bring the car in. After almost an hour and a half of waiting for the big slimy car salesman guy that could barely walk or breathe, I quickly discovered that the nice lady (Beth) that called me in the first place is basically just there to get as many people as possible to come in and be sold a car on trade. They didn't want to buy my car anymore than any other car, they just want people to come in so they can "beat them up" and make them feel like their only choice is to trade it in and buy another car from these people- NOT happening. This guy showed up over an hour late, offered no apology other than "I had an emergency, I don't know what to tell you" and completely blew me off AND lied to me about some supposed hail damage on this car that is literally in mint condition. The funny thing is, he didn't even mention any damage until I told him a family member was interested in buying the car from me too. Once he knew that, and realized I wasn't desperate, is when he started with all of the "damage" bs. Anyway, thanks Mike Shaw for the perfect slimy, sleazy experience. Thanks for begging me to come in for an appointment, not showing up even close to on time, and wasting my entire afternoon. Thanks for hiring sleazebags like Marv to give your dealership that stereotypical sleazy feel that I'm sure all car dealerships are going for. Hopefully the next person that is about to waste their time and show up to an "appointment" reads this in time to go somewhere else. Again, Beth (the appointment setter) was very nice. You guys can do better with your management choices, though. read more

Bought a new Outback here recently. After the whole sales process, got there, and the few requests I had on the car weren't completed. They couldn't find the keys for the ski rack, and had to install a new rack. Charged me $75 for labor to install the thing, and then literally replaced it in about 5 minutes. Wish I made that rate. Thieves. Asked them not to put the standard dealer adhesive logos on the back of the car. They're incredibly ugly. And it was a transfer from another dealer, so shouldn't have been a problem. Yet there they were. And the salesman who sold me the car... usually you get a full tour. It was my FIRST Subaru, so a lot of the features were new to me. I kept asking the guy, "So, show me the car. I've never had a Subaru before." He was like... "Yeah... here's the Hill Grabber (or something - he never explained it)... you won't need that." On the bluetooth setup for the phone, "Oh, it's easy. You should be able to figure it out, no prob." Afterwards, I opened the owner's manual, and here was a full list of all the things that he should've explained to me. It seemed to be the first time he'd given the whole thing. It's not like I was rushing him - I was asking for more info. His initials are PZ - I'd avoid working with him if I were you. On leaving, I asked him to have his manager give me a call. Even gave him an email reminder, and got no call from his manager. So, I logged my complaints on my post-sale survey in detail. If the manager would've called, I've have told them verbally. Bummer, because I think it's a killer for the salesman. Finally, a couple of days after I submitted my survey, I get this frantic call from a Customer Service guy, who I told the whole story to. He assured me they'd take steps to make this right. That was about three weeks ago. Never heard back from the dude. Apparently they just don't care. I called him back, but didn't really get satisfaction on any of my complaints. He was very apologetic, but in the end it was "can't help ya." I'll be calling Subaru to log my complaint, as well. Horrible experience. If I'd have it to do over again, I'd goto Flatirons Subaru. That's where I'm going for all my service needs, as well as my next Subaru. read more

Negotiated a price for a specific vehicle, took off work to arrive at the scheduled time to sign the documents, and was then told that the person I had been negotiating with had taken off early and my vehicle had been sold earlier in the day. No call giving me a heads up. Then was told to wait while they looked at other dealers for the model I wanted, which took 45 minutes, only to be told there were none in the state. When I had no interest in putting down money with them to assume delivery of the vehicle at a later date, they acted like I was being unreasonable. If they would have been more apologetic, I would have been more inclined to do this with them. As it stands, I was able to take delivery with Shortline instead. Staff here are not only incompetent but also disrespectful of personal time. read more

I purchased my 2004 Subaru at Mike Shaw Subaru in early 2005. The sales department was dishonest and rude, BUT the service department was great. I've been taking my vehicles to the service department since 2005. Recently, I took my Ford in for maintenance and they stripped the oil plug and messed up the brakes. I've returned 3 times and been given the run-around every time....finally, I was asked by the manager to take my vehicle to Ford to have it fixed. I will now have to pay more than $500 for a new oil pan (that subaru refuses is their issue) and am waiting for the estimate on the brakes (that subaru insists are fine...and are not). To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. I feel betrayed, too. I've taken vehicles there for 7 years and have been a loyal customer who has told friends and family about how great the service is there....and now, to be treated like this? I'll never go back. Our car buying experience here was horrid. The sales lady we had didn't know anything. I made the mistake of signing all of the documents sight unseen, trusting her that when I asked if the vehicle had certain amenities and she said yes that it was the truth. Shortly after buying the car and getting it, i had nothing but problems. The service team begrudgingly fixed them, and when they wanted to charge I threw a fit. Finally got it for no charge. The last time I brought my car there it took them over a week to do an oil change. So I haven't brought it back since. read more

Came in to get a appraisal on my car and to look at used SUVs. The sticker on the window by the door says Kelly Blue Book Value cash offer. They did a light inspection of my car and offered me $5000 less than the KBB pricing I found on the website. This wasn't $5000 less than the 'sell to a private party' KBB price, this was $5000 less than the 'trade into the dealer' KBB price. I think they have a term for that: Lowballing. I had a similar experience like Nick W.'s review in Oct of 2014. They don't really want to buy your car. They want you to trade in. read more

A friend of mine urged us not to go to a Subaru dealership because he had a bad experience and ended up buying a Mini. Not listening to his advice we decided to go! There nothing better than feeling ignored when trying to buy a new car. My wife and I went in to try and get some information on a new Legacy and take one out. 10 or so minutes, give or take, went by waiting for some assistance. Losing our patience we decided to go out and look at the cars. What seemed like 30 minutes without any ones assistance, we decided that they didn't want our business. We left and went to O'Mera VW and had someone assist us almost instantly. Fell in love with the Passat and made the lease purchase. Your loss Subaru, I'm sure the cars are great, but they don't sell themselves in a literal sense. We need someone's assistance on some level! Anyway my first impression of this dealership is sour.
