I just bought a new Subaru with Cliff here and had a great experience. They were ready for me when I arrived and were able to beat a very good quote I had from another dealer. What really set them apart is the little touches. When the process took longer than I had prepared for Cliff ordered me a sandwich, they left a $2 bill and a sweet note on the gas cap that I discovered when I first got gas and they sent a thank you card with a $10 gift card. We bought an Outback from this dealership at the end of October. First issue: The third day we had it the check engine, parking brake, traction control and oil light all came on at once *blinking*. We took it in and found out that the gas cap was the wrong one - not a Subaru cap. Fine. Replaced. Five days later, same thing. We took it in again (with a service appointment set up) and waited 5 HOURS for them to even look at the vehicle. They said it was a wiring problem and it was fixed. Second issue: We were told that if we needed to get an extension on our temporary tags (due to slow processing), call them and they would get us new ones. We hadn't heard or seen anything after a month, so we started calling. Our calls were never returned. Finally, we got a hold of someone who said that they would in deed get us extension tags since we had not yet received anything from the state. They had us call the state and we were told, by the state, that the info was received Nov. 13th (bought the car the 26th of October) and we would get something in the mail. My fiancee calls Mike Shaw with this information and to pick up the extension tags and was told, "Nope. You have to go to the DMV." After all this garbage, being told one thing and then another, we are so frustrated! We just got our card from the state TODAY, days before the temps are set to expire on the 24th of December. I do NOT recommend this dealership to anyone. Selling cars with problems, going back on their word, not returning phone calls is not a good business practice. Subaru may care (per their ad campaign), but this dealership does not. read more

Get a car here, sure, but just make sure you don't have any questions at any point after the sale. Also, make sure you get some clarity on whether or not your spare key exists. Four weeks ago I made a decision to purchase a 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited. After having failed to find a single dealership in California that was willing to sell the car for MSRP or lower, and being annoyed by all the greed going on, I decided to take my business out of state and began calling around in Colorado. Buyer beware! We bought a 2001 Outback and paid more than blue book. We were willing to, because the salesman assured us that the shop had done a 101 point inspection. The engine seized less than a month after we bought it! Another mechanic told us that had Mike Shaw actually done the inspection they described, they would have caught the problem. Of course, when we called Mike Shaw, they said since we didn't buy the warranty - there was nothing they can do! I was looking for a particularly hard to find year and model, and the closest dealer that had it was Mike Shaw in Denver. I was able to look at detailed photos and the carfax on the website, and even submitted my request for more information directly from a form on the site. I received two emails and a call back (on a weekend mind you) within 24 hours, and within 2 day I had the car reserved and the paperwork shipped. Sight unseen (in person anyway), The loan docs were done, and the car was purchased, titled, and shipped in under two weeks. It was almost like they had done this before. Got our Subaru here after being burned by unethical business practices at Shortline Subaru. At Mike Shaw the car was exactly what we wanted and the purchasing process was easy and smooth. Was it the greatest deal in the universe? No. But there was no shady hard-sell and the price we agreed upon on the phone was the price we got. Our sales guy Cliff even volunteered to hop in the back and assist with the car seat. Plus they have a baller kids' room that kept our little one entertained. We did have to prompt them after the car was "cleaned" to buff out a few scratches on the drivers' side door and some black marker on the headlight to make the car good as new. Also, the front desk girl was as surly as her pants were tight. I'm not mad at it. Snug pants and heels would piss me off by the end of the day, too. Bottom line: go here for your car. So when I needed a new car rather quickly in March, I went back. Clifford Swaim was my rep. He was amazing. I've never seen so much follow-through from a car salesman before. He even tried to sell me lower-priced used car, but I liked the ride of the 2014 Forester. I wish Subaru would make their cars narrower and less tall, but all the manufacturers are doing this now. This place tried to make a deal with me on a rental car E63 that was in a wreck they never denied that it hasn't been in a accident but when i was on my test drive there was a noise from the steering. The sales lady said ohh what noise managers probably tell them to say they don't hear anything. other than that service was great the sales guy was pushy with trying to get my to offer a price I would pay. Other than that this place seems pretty decent for a dealership. i would be Leary if you test a car and hear something go to another store and have the car check out before your suck with it. I left at 6 AM to take the bus from Lakewood to Thornton (about an hour and a half ride) to go see a 2.5L 2005 Subaru Forester. Test drive went well and I was thinking about purchasing the car. I asked them to lift the car and it was showing some oil leakage from the engine. This style of engine is notorious for head gasket leaks. An independent mechanic told me that once the oil starts leaking from the head gasket you have about 10,000 miles before it needs to be changed. Along with timing belt and water pump that would need to be done in about 35,000 miles, the cost is around $2500. Anyway, they took me in the room with some tough guy salesman. It really felt they had me talk to this guy to break the little confidence I had in my mechanical knowledge. I asked why they don't offer a 30 day warranty and he says "well you saw under the car. It looks great." I'm obviously not a mechanic so my quick look under the car means absolutely nothing. At this point I'm somehow still interested and we began negotiating financing and seeing how I could finance the repair costs and they come back into the room to tell me someone else just test drove the car and that I have "about two minutes" to make a final decision. The combination of the fact that they couldn't even hold the car for a half hour while we discussed details and then gave me mere minutes to decide on a $10,000 purchase that had no warranty really ruined the dealership for me. Anytime I see a car that's being sold by Mike Shaw, I immediately pass it over. The only stars they get is for the young, kind, somewhat timid "salesman" I had. He was a nice guy. read more

Smooth experience. I knew exactly what I wanted and started with cars.com. Mike Shaw was first up with a below sticker price. Knowing what invoice was on the car, it was a fair price for both parties. I was promptly contacted by Dusty Gilman who verified that the car was, in fact, in inventory. Since we live four hours away, he wanted to make sure he could "put his hand on it" before we made our appointment. Despite a little bit of a wait, Dusty was prompt, attentive, and friendly. The price was exactly as agreed and he ran the numbers on multiple leasing and buying options. He also was good for some friendly small talk with us while the car was being prepped. This is our fifth Subaru, but first from this dealer. Overall very satisfied. One slight quibble: Most of the little "offices" appear to be unassigned to individual salespeople. Dusty sat us down in one to go over numbers. We all got up briefly and another salesperson and his customer took over the same office, requiring us to relocate to a showroom table. That was a bit awkward and seemed a bit unprofessional- not on Dusty's part, but on the management. read more

I stopped in for an oil change on my Forester and spoke with my salesman Kieth Traczynski about test driving a 2018 Outback just for grins. I had mentioned our Forester was feeling a little small for our family but I didn't think we could get into a new car right now, (especially an outback) and afford the payments. Well, he made that happen for us. We got everything we wanted far sooner than we expected and kept our payments completely manageable! Keith went out of his way to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. And at the end of our sale he said an amazingly sweet prayer for our family and surprised my 3 year old with a hot wheels Outback she had been eyballing on the wall of his office. My wife and I had been to several dealers that day researching cross-over vehicles. We found a couple of good vehicles and some helpful salesman. Yes, this place is fantastic!! After deciding to look into buying a new car I wasn't quite sure what kind of car I was looking for so I did the whole on-line car shopping thing which I was a little unsure of. I have to say I am a HUGE fan! I am also a fan of Pete Seabrook, who is the most helpful guy who I have ever bought a car from. He was laid back, and didn't pressure me to buy a car, which in itself was a huge selling point. Through a few e-mails he was able to help narrow down what I was looking for. I am absolutely impressed with my car buying experience and am surprised that I actually feel great about the deal I was able to get and the level of service I have received even a while after my purchase. I have gotten gotten follow up calls following up on my purchase experience. The other thing that really impressed me is that the dealership was running a special where they would donate $250 to a charity of my choosing and they followed up with me to make sure they got the designation that I wished for the donation to go, rather than let it fall to the waste side. When will salesmen ever learn... I knew exactly what car I wanted and what price was comfortable (I did my research). I specifically told my salesman right from the get-go that I DID NOT WANT TO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE... I was interested in numbers only; I wanted to get down to business. So, what does he do? He tricks me in test driving the vehicle "while he runs the numbers". When I got back there were no numbers; he did not even asks for my social security number. Long story short - he tried to play the game and after I was offended and started walking out he finally caved in gave me the numbers I wanted. Unfortunately however, I already decided that I was not going to give them my business. Word of advice to Mike Shaw Subaru: you should have just did that from the beginning like I asked. I am totally underwhelmed with my experience buying a car here. They were dishonest at least twice that I know of, and I highly recommend you avoid this dealership. First of all, in applying for a loan, we signed documents with Chase Bank. After leaving the dealership, two days later, we get a call from Capital One asking us to confirm our identity so they can process a loan. We NEVER signed a contract with Capital One, but Capital One claims our signatures are on a contract with them!! Apparently the terms are all the same, but it just pisses me off that they would do a bait and switch without telling us. And Capital One never sent us a bill or copy of the contract until I called over a month later and just before the first payment was due. Second, the description of the car we purchased said there were two key fobs for it. AFTER closing the deal, they presented us with just one. We told them it said two, and they said it's all they had but they could try to put us in touch with the previous owner to see if there's another set. WTF?? Liars! I asked that they try to track down another fob, even purchase one for us, and they pretended to agree, but not long after they basically LIED again and said they couldn't get one. Of course they can, same as I can, by paying $300 for a second fob - they should have either taken that off the price of the car, refunded it to me, or paid for a key, but nope. Despite the clear statement on the car's description that there were two sets of keys, it's now on us to pay for it. Total BS. So avoid them, or be extremely careful to check EVERYTHING before completing a deal... read more

On May 8, 2020, we purchased a new 2020 Subaru Outback through Christian Carreon. Although there are other Subaru dealers nearer our location, we found Christian very helpful and courteous when we had earlier stopped by and chose to work with him. The negotiating and purchasing experience was very pleasant and professional! Recently we noticed the vent fan for the driver's seat was on occasion intolerably loud, so we scheduled a warranty appointment with service. I brought our car in and was met by Wally Pettengill, a service advisor. Wally handled the process of bringing the car into the shop and while I waited in the waiting area, kept me continuously updated on the progress of the repair. When it was clear the part wouldn't arrive until late in the day delaying the repair until Friday, Wally offered a loaner. I drove home but was pleasantly surprised to get a call from Wally that our car was ready late on Thursday. I drove back early Friday morning to find that since Wally would not be in, he had coordinated my loaner return and pickup of our car with Maggie. Maggie brought our car to the service area, and I found technician Justin Steel had kept the interior spotless but with a fan that no longer made noise, a great relief. From turning in our car, through the replacement of the fan, through picking up my car, I was treated in a friendly and respectful manner. I was kept informed of progress throughout and never had to ask what was happening. From buying through servicing, this was a great experience. read more

I worked with William Reynolds to buy a 2000 Subaru Forester. It had emissions issues and a bad wheel bearing when it left the lot, but William and the Mike Shaw team make good on their word to take care of us. They replaced the catalytic converter and the wheel bearing gratis. They also gave me a loaner from the lot in the meantime. I originally wrote a good review because purchasing the car was a breeze literally a month ago today, and well apparently they need you to write reviews or their pay gets docked (or so we were told by a Mike Shaw employee) Situation changes very quickly here!!! All is golden until you drive off the lot. Had the car less than a month, come out from work Tuesday and I have a huge crack in the windshield running from the base up. My boyfriend helps me and calls Mike Shaw to explain how upsetting and unacceptable this is in a vehicle not even a month old! Speaks to a Frank (who apparently is the Finance Manager) but he said he'll have it all handled and they would even try to get me in that day (3/31) to get it fixed, if not I had already scheduled an appointment for Saturday. No call back but whatever, so I come in Saturday and go to the service department. Pull up and get asked why I'm here, explain situation and the girl says "We don't replace glass here." I state we spoke to a Frank and he said it would be handled here, she then says, "He doesn't know what he's talking about." I'm a little pissed at this point obviously because I don't live around the corner and yet again, I get nothing but a run around! I returned home and called Subaru USA and they stated I need to get a test to diagnose the crack to confirm it's under manufacture warranty. I call back and ask to speak to the service manager, lovely Dan. Connect to Dan and he must think I'm leaving a voicemail, he's speaking to someone else while I'm trying to explain the situation, then this asshole says some rude, condescending shit and hangs up. I immediately call back and ask for Dan. The whole conversation he's talking over me, and saying "Well we do glass replacement here, I'm not sure who you spoke to" Blab blah, bullshit all over again!
