Updating my prior review. Come here for years. While the food is generally still good, prices have gone way up, but service and care has dropped off. They used to have the best values and managers. But no more. Since COVID it continues to go downhill. Managers no longer care about customer service or try to make anything up to you. Even though most of the place was empty, I watched them try to seat a party of seven in the next booth, even though there was no way they would fit, and it would be a fire hazard.. just because the server did not want to walk another 10 feet to the bigger table. And most crazy - and even though the server lied and told me that they have and would give us "kids cups", they have become so cheap that they stopped buying kids cups and to go cups, and give small children (i.e. 4 year olds) heavy glasses, and stick a to go coffee cup lid on the top. read more

Long Review: So to start off, our server Nicholette was AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great reviews which helped us make our dinner choices. The food was mediocre to me, however, the others in my party thought the food was good. Now on to the main discrepancy, we ordered a bread basket which costs $1. When the bread basket arrives, everyone dug in. Everyone is slathering the honey butter onto the little rolls and are getting ready to enjoy. I notice that there are little black specks in the butter. I checked the menu and it doesn't state that there is anything else in the butter, so I'm wondering what these black specks are. No one else in my party noticed these specks, however I did and I asked what it was. Come to find out, there are "poppy seeds" in the butter! Now, iykyk, "poppy seeds" will show up as a positive for opioids on a drug test. Where I work, we are subject to random drug tests at ANYTIME, so are the others in my party. We asked the server to confirm that these were in fact "poppy seeds" in the butter, she confirms. We ask for a manager and the manager Alana came to the table. We explain the situation to her, she laughs it off and says, "I honestly thought that was a myth, just tell them you ate the seeds in the butter at Mike's we've been around for 30yrs!" I nor the other guests in my party thought this was a laughing matter, because nowhere on the menu is it stated that there are "poppy seeds" in the butter. If we were to get drug tested and it turns up positive for opioids, we definitely wouldn't have known. We asked her if she could give us something in writing, just in case. She came back with a card to the media people, told us our best bet would be to reach out to them because she couldn't write us anything. We asked for someone else, Shelly assisted us with a copy of the menu and the receipt, the recipe for the butter and her card to be able to reach her, if something happens. She definitely handled the situation with care, she saved Mike's a star. read more

I've been coming to Mike's for at least 20 years. Great food. The waitstaff is incredibly attentive and know the ingredient list for any picky eaters. Small issue - today was really hot outside and the top floor is so so hot. The waiters are melting. I saw one with a hand fan. The people at my table were sweaty and it didn't help that the fan near our table were either off of spinning slowly. I love this place but might stick to the winter months. So glad we found this place. Try to make a reservation is possible, this place get filled quick. The restaurant is rustic classy on the inside... very appealing. The food was just delicious. We had crabs cakes, roast chicken, smoked salmon for entrees. Perfect size portions, a little on the pricey side but the service more than made up for it. Was not worth the $300+ check. Haven't been to Mike's in over 4-5 years, so why not celebrate my divorce that took 4 years to finalize by getting a great meal at Mike's. The service was lack luster tonight including glasses sitting empty for long periods of time, my mom sat there for a good 15 minutes because they forgot her Caesar salad, then brought out the main courses a few minutes later while she was still trying to finish up her salad (poorly timed and amateurish). Then they completely forgot my drunken ribeye ($48) and I had to sit there for another 10 minutes just to get mine while everyone else enjoyed their meals. What a total disappointment and NO OFFER for any sort of refund or compensation for making it a stressful and poorly serviced meal. I don't plan on going back any time soon. read more

I had such a pleasant experience with my friends here on a Sunday afternoon! Parking was easy and accessible but I can see how the lot gets filled up fast. We made reservations and were seated immediately on the second level. Our server was AWESOME in knowing the menu and making suggestions. I had the jambalaya with only shrimp and it was amazing, my friends got the steak which they split since it was so large and ordered they own salads and we ordered apps for the table prior. I do wish the firecracker shrimp included more because it was so delicious! It was a fun atmosphere, on the louder side but we were also next to a loud group which wasn't terrible. Busy as always even on a Wednesday night, but has fast service. We were able to be seated within 15 minutes and this has always been the case for this busy, busy location! Parking is always a bit hard to find, so be aware that you can park across the street and walk here. The food is consistently good and the staff work well together to ensure a good experience. Still love their classic mojito and key lime pie. But the smoked Salmon salad is my go to here as it always tastes so good! A little noisy here, so ambient sound is a bit loud. So not an intimate restaurant experience, but great for families and friends. read more

Mike's is always a good go-to spot. We usually make a meal out of appetizers and get some great entrees TO GO. It's always always ALWAYS crowded, but well worth the wait -- and I HATE waiting. Use call ahead seating or Resy to secure a reservation. Con: The damn parking lot. It's a struggle to get a space on site, because cars are constantly in and out. I suggest circling the building once, maybe twice, for good measure. Otherwise, there's plenty of parking in the strip mall lot across the street. read more

I've dined at Mike's twice in a one week span of time. The first time was with a group of seven people for lunch. We did not have a reservation, but we were seated fairly quickly. I've been dining at Mike's on and off for over 20 years and the food, like the other restaurants in this group, is always consistently good. This is why I do not mind recommending Mike's or popping in for a good meal whenever I am in the Springfield area. Last night, my sister and I decided to meet there. We made a reservation about two hours before and because the restaurant is so spacious, there was still decent options four times. They seemed to be well staffed and our service was prompt. I love the fact that Mike's is always busy, but they never seem to rush you. I ordered the calamari and a salad and as always, very good. Mike's, and its sister restaurant Carlyle Grand Café, have the best calamari in the area, in my opinion. And I've tried calamari at least 100 places locally, lol! Thanks, Mike for always being there and always being consistent. The only drawback is the parking. For the size of the restaurant, the parking lot is inadequate and the spaces are tight, risking damage to your carp. We usually park in the parking lot across the street. Depending on the time of day, it can be tricky crossing because there's not a safe intersection there. This is the only reason I rated it four stars instead of five. read more

We've been here a couple of times and they are consistently great. Cocktails are well made and delicious. The Mike's chicken salad has interesting ingredients and paired with a perfect dressing. Also had the ribs and they were falling off the bone. The only dish I didn't love was the drunken steak, but lots of other people around me ordered it and said it was good so I am probably in the minority here. I've been eating at Mike's since the 80's, when in high school and thought it was considered "upscale." Over the years I've been well over a hundred times and have always loved the decor and construction of the building. The menu is also great and this is one of my favorite places to go for lunch (it's the ONLY place I'll ever order chicken tenders, as they're amazingly fresh and hand breaded to order). I have noticed the service and execution of the menu isn't as perfect as it used to be, but it's still pretty darn good. Some items we always enjoy would be their chop salad, any of their cocktails (especially a margarita!), their steaks are nearly always on point. They have an excellent burger! But one thing I have a difficult time not getting when I go is whatever fish of the day they're grilling on that awesome hickory grill! read more

Would have made an amazing "Night club". Over all though... Nothing to write home about... Cons: Parking is THOROUGHLY ATROCIOUS. Do not park in McDonald Lot next door, you will likely be towed. Drinks are standard w/ little to no true skill involved. When I say "skill" I am comparing standard bartender to Mixologist. Depending on where you sit... your bartender may fox something ok... or something that taste like DUMPSTER JUICE. If it's on the menu, they likely can make it.. if you need creativity or have a sophisticated drink palate.. this is NOT for you. It's Noisy. I mean REALLY NOISY. I mean "Front-Row of a Country-Baptist-Church on Easter-Sunday after the Drummer gets that beat going" Noisy. Weekdays might be different, but I am not impressed enough to make the trip a 3rd time. If you are under 25 and have no real issues with Average drinks and food... then great. But if you're a "I never drink whiskey w/ crushed ice" kinda guy (like me.. ha) then you won't like the quality. Both will appreciate the decor, but that's about it. I am thrilled that they finally accept reservations - through their website or Resy app. This restaurant, as all the other restaurants in the family, provides amazing and attentive service. Their bread basket is always good. If you need an appetizer, I recommend spinach artichoke dip. For main entree, fillet tips or Monterrey salad. We have always been very happy with everything at Mike's except the very tight parking. My crab cakes at our last visit were simply awesome. Mike's is one of the best restaurants in Springfield. I like Mike's! What more can I say? I am a frequent guest and would say that 9 out of 10 visits the service is stellar. They're human, though and every now and then they are a little off but for the most part they are fast, efficient and pleasant . I absolutely love the salmon and pretty much get it in a salad every time I go. The hamburgers are excellent though and the rolls are ridiculously good. I could make a meal out of those alone. I personally think their steaks are a little pricey and not really worth it but the chicken with pasta is pretty tasty. read more

I made a reservation for my boyfriend and I at 6:15pm the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We arrived around 6pm and were seated 5 minutes later. Atmosphere: The ambiance was outstanding and my boyfriend gave it a 9.5/10 (the highest he's ever given a restaurant). He also wanted to point out how nice the restroom was. Drinks: I knew I wanted a drink so I asked the waiter for a suggestion that's fruity and not too strong. He suggested I get the Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini and I absolutely loved it! It was the right amount of sweet, sour, and alcohol. My boyfriend got the Mike's Margarita and he enjoyed it as well. Food: I knew what I wanted before I arrived because I'd only heard great things about the Salmon. I'm here to say, it did not disappoint! It had a great taste (almost similar to a Turkey Leg) and the sauce that accompanied it, took it to another level! I substituted the mashed potato potatoes for grilled broccolini. My boyfriend got the Bacon Cheeseburger (medium) and he enjoyed the burger very much but he did not like the fries at all. The fries were too flimsy for his liking. Overall, we had great service, drinks, and food. This was the first time in 5 years we've chosen a different restaurant for Valentine's Day. This might be our new spot! read more
