After Objectively reviewing their service they were quick to accommodate an appointment and even were able to arrange an earlier date to look at the inoperable freezer. They were out the next day but unfortunately unable to repair. The solution was to buy a replacement appliance. I was frustrated with having to come out of pocket and unfairly reflected upon Mike's Appliances. I purchased new kitchen appliances from Mike's; I wasn't sure about the size of the stove (because of the configuration). Mike came out and measured and got me squared away. I wanted an ice maker in my new fridge, and Mike's was able to come out and install the water line for me. I ordered my appliances and they were delivered and installed without incident. I purchased a whirl pool Fridge and said I need it ASAP. they informed me it was in stock and I could have it within 2 hours. Update: I had my first experience buying a brand new appliance from Mike's Appliances, and now can vouch that a purchase/delivery experience is absolutely as excellent as is Mike's repair service. Our old beyond-warranty clothes dryer giving up the ghost gave me the opportunity to make a purchase from Mike's Appliances, instead of from a big box store. The price Mike quoted me for the new model dryer I selected was less than the online on-sale advertised prices at three Bay Area big box stores plus one other local appliance store, for the exact same appliance. I was not expecting that, knowing that smaller stores can't compete in volume, but Mike's Appliances obviously knows that creating a stellar reputation brings repeat business. Also a nice surprise was that Mike's Appliances offers a new appliance extended warranty for purchase at an extremely reasonable rate (much better than big box store) - with his company dedicated to coming out to perform any future repairs on what they deliver. Buying that was a no brainer. I never needed to travel to their store. Speaking with Mike and others on the phone about the features and quality I wanted, and their suggestions about what to look up online, resulted in my discovering exactly the dryer that fit our family's needs. They liked it too (the owner had a similar one), and had one in stock for immediate delivery. Months later, I can confirm it was a fantastic choice, again, made with their help. My husband, after using it for the first time, joked whether it was politically incorrect or not to say you love a clothes dryer, but in fact...wow, what a functional difference a great appliance makes. King size fat comforters that otherwise would need outside cleaning or a half day of drying, instead easily tumble dry on a medium heat setting - quickly. I thank Mike for getting on the phone with me to ascertain what kind of dryer would suit us best, and connecting me with his friendly, informative employees. Daniel and Brian delivered the dryer as soon as it was convenient for me, and like all of Mike's Appliances employees, were just wonderful people. They were extra conscientious and very careful about removing the old dryer and installing the new one, making certain it worked in its new location, keeping everything clean. When our aging refrigerator bites the dust, I'll look forward to Brian and Daniel's return to deliver a second brand new appliance from Mike's Appliances. read more

Yesterday at 3:45pm, I called Mike's appliance to have Mom's dryer repaired. Twenty minutes later, Mike was at Mom's, diagnosed the problem, installed the part and it was all fixed within an hour! First of all, upon booking an appointment, the staff person ask you the type of appliance brand just in case the company does not "serve" your particular brand, However, they did not tell me that my brand parts are no longer available for sale until the repair person collects the $125.00 for one hour, although the repair person was in & out of my house in 20 minutes or less. Yes,the repair person called a couple of places from my house and was told that the manufacturer does not make any parts related to my appliance anymore, I am pretty sure that the company knew this since you "must" tell them the model #, etc. and they look it up on line the info related to my appliance before booking an appt. These guys are great. The first time I used them was about 25 years ago. I needed to repair my grandmothers washing machine. It had just spewed water all over the floor. I had no idea what I was doing but I had tools and time. I took the thing apart and fount two rubber seals that looked bad. I will never forget showing them to MIke. He said, "The problem is, that's not really two parts.That is supposed to be ONE part." He set me up with the parts and some advice and sent me on my way. Over the years I've purchased a number of parts for my washer and dryer from Mikes and when the old washer finally wasn't worth repairing, we purchased a new one from Mike's. They delivered it and set it up quickly. Within a day we discovered a small problem with the unit . MIke's came out and fixed it on the spot. That was about 12 years ago. We do a lot of laundry and I've had to replace washer and dryer parts several times. Mikes' Appliances has never let me down. Service is top notch and advice is always delivered with a smile! Our washer was leaking so we first called a terrible repair company who came to our home, spent five minutes looking at the machine, told us we were overloading our washer and then took $90! As soon as that repair man left, I started the washer and it was leaking worse than before. THEN we called Mike's Appliances! Mike came out and was honest in his evaluation of our problem..it would have costed $500+ in parts and labor to fix our washer. We decided to go ahead and buy new washer/dryer units from Mike's and we couldn't be happier! He measured the space we had and we were able to buy higher quality units for a small space. I have used Mike's twice now for repairs. The first time was, four years ago, to convert my dryer back to natural gas from propane. The guy came, switched it over and noticed it was not heating up as much as it should. He told me he was pretty sure the vent needed cleaning but if that wasn't the problem, he would come back free of charge and do a complete diagnostic. He was right; the vent was horribly dirty and after a good cleaning the dryer was working great. The second time was in 2009, the dryer was making a horrible racket. After describing the sound to Mike over the phone, it said it was a blower. I made a service appointment (I did not buy dryer at Mike's) for that week. The service guy showed up on time, checked the blower called me to confirm service and made the repair in 20 minutes. Then Mike's called me at work, I paid them over the phone with my credit card. The whole thing cost under $120 and I did it all by phone! Over the years, when my in-law needed to replace an appliance, she just would call Mike's, tell them how much she wanted to spend and what she wanted and that day or the next the appliance was installed and working. Now, when she needs to replace an appliance, she calls Mike's and tells them to just send one over. They know what she likes and send it that day! We love these guys! read more

Mike's appliances has excellent selection, service and turn around time! I called Mike's appliance because my refrigerator had a leak. I have used them in the past and I have always received excellent service. Mike was able to come out right away and solve that problem. While Mike was finishing I asked him about updating my other kitchen appliances. He did some measuring and said he would have Samantha send me some suggestions. I received an email from her that day with a quote and suggestions. I decided to go look at the the appliances at their store and Samantha was great! She was very courteous and knowledgeable in all the different brands. A breath of fresh air in customer service! The installation of my new appliances was done very efficiently and they also took away my old appliances. Today I'm enjoying my new microwave, gas stove top, dishwasher and double ovens. Thought I'll support the local guys but every time I felt like a fool when I was handed the bill. As a first time homeowner, I have already endured enough stress that comes with purchasing a new house. Mike's Appliances did a superb job of assisting me with what is normally a chaotic headache of buying a brand new refrigerator. With very minimal space in my kitchen, I had limited options in selecting a brand new refrigerator. I ended up selecting a Whirpool refrigerator and was sadly informed that it was not going to be available until early January, which at the time of my purchase was about about 3-4 weeks away. I had plans already to throw a house warming party with friends along with a Christmas party with family. I had voiced these concerns to Vanessa, who was the individual that assisted me. She gladly offered to deliver a "loaner" refrigerator to my home the next day until the refrigerator I had purchased was readily available. I was astonished at the customer service and was more than happy to accept their proposal. I am confident that a major appliance store like Home Depot would not have offered the same service in terms of providing a loaner fridge, that is why it is so imperative and conducive to support your local small businesses! read more

Ya, this place is all nice... until you have a problem!! I replaced several appliances, including an old ugly (but perfectly funtioning ) dishwasher. When I called to figure out why my dishes were still dirty, after 3 cycles, again and again.... Mike was quick to tell me that I was JUST out of warrenty (oh great, I've had it just a year). His brilliant solution as to why dishes weren't getting cleaned, was that I needed Jet Dry in addition to Cascade. No one I know uses it, and it certainly shouldn't be req'd to wash dishes! Then he asked if I'd read the manual cause I guess they mention it there... huh?? Bottom line is my old machine washed great, it was just old and I thought inefficient (but turns out WAY better than the new one). Then when I said I couldn't afford a service call, he got irritated that I wasn't satisfied with his Jet Dry solution.... and HUNG UP ON ME. Told me to 'figure it out myself'. We were looking for a new refrigerator for my wife's parents, as the old one had some issues and we thought a new one would solve them. After picking out one that we all thought would work, we found out, when the service tech came out before the installation, that there would not be enough ventilation for the new one. The tech said that the only real problem with the older one was that the door needed a new gasket and a minor adjustment. Mike's refunded our money, and sent out a tech to fix the door, no charge to my wife's parents! I was amazed to see such good customer care, and I can recommend Mike's to anyone. read more

I had the part number why she didn't look it up and actually help me I dint understand. I ended up walking out. I found another store in Berkeley who looked up the part number told me the name for the part and said gave me suggestions on how to replace it in a easy way, I'll go there instead, sorry Mike your counter lady needs some customer service skills. read more

We purchased a stove from Mike's and I don't think I'll ever buy anything else from Mike's again. The front staff were no help. They didn't know anything about the different features of the stoves on their floor. The stove we decided to purchase was not in stock, so they ordered it for us, but due to this they couldn't schedule a delivery day because they weren't sure when the stove would arrive. I was told that once it arrived that they would call me and they would be able to install the stove within 48 hours of the stove arriving to Mike's. (Keep in mind we were completely without a stove) Once the stove arrived they did call, but they didn't have an open delivery slot for 5 more days so the 48 hours promise was not accurate. So I waited 5 days. The stove was delivered and installed without any further issues. Mike's is not the cheapest place to purchase appliances but I did like shopping from a family business. I just wish the customer service was better. read more

WHY you shop local. I'm in the middle of moving hell- everything possible has gone wrong and all while trying to wrangle a new baby. Our locksmith recommended Mike's appliances when I told him about the multiple screwups from a big box store I had been trying to deal with for a weird sized refrigerator. I went to Mike's and got treated to old school, friendly customer service with no pushiness. Vanessa was awesome and could tell I was a bit frazzled. She set me up with a washer and dryer and squeezed me in to her next delivery route even though they were technically full because she knew my baby was basically out of clean clothes. When the delivery fellow arrived he informed me that he couldn't set up my gas dryer because there was no shut off valve (just one of the many things wrong with the new place) and that we needed to get a plumber in to install one. I was pretty stressed since our laundry needs were high and my most recent plumber experience took two weeks to book and then cost $210 for ten minutes of work (literally for tightening a few screws). I was really not looking forward to having to schelp laundry and a baby to a laundromat every couple of days until the problem was sorted. The delivery guy, sensing my poorly disguised distress called Mike to discuss the issue. Ten minutes later Mike is in my garage telling me he will fix it for me tomorrow! And, for the first time during this epic move, he showed up when he said he would, fixed the problem and provided good conversation to boot. I'm floored. If I had bought my washer and dryer online I might have save $50-$100 bucks but it would still be sitting there, probably for weeks as I waited for a plumber to squeeze me in and then charge me $250-500 for a shut off valve and installation and hours of my time wasted at a laundromat with a screaming baby. I'd recommend this place for repairs Forsure! My dryer and washer were both broken. We called Saturday to see about getting it serviced since we noticed a leak. The washer wasn't draining or spinning and the dryer wasn't always heating and drying clothes. Unfortunately they don't service on the weekend but they were able to squeeze us in for Monday evening. Our repair Tech was David or "Dave" he came and was in and out within 30 mins today fixing both. Turned out that we needed a coil kit for the dryer and a Lid switch for the washer and the leak we noticed was actually a plumbing problem not related to the washer that we fixed saturday.. I love when things can be fixed in such a timely manner. He did the job fast! No complaints! If he hadn't been so fast I would've tipped him lol thanks again! read more

Mike's Appliances managed to fix my GE oven before GE could even get to an appointment. They have a one charge policy for labor (currently $125) that covers the repair labor. Parts of course are not included. Dave appeared at my door on time and had the problem figured out in no time. He was very willing to work with me on one issue and it actually saved me a lot of money. So, I'd have to say if you need appliance repair, give these guys a try - they've been around since 1976 and they seem to be doing it right - at least my me. read more

He is thorough, efficient, willing to answer questions and--most important--whatever he does has always taken care of the issue. I've never had to call back for additional work. The two appliances came several days apart. They delivered the washer first, and it arrived exactly when they said it would. I can honestly say Mike's appliances is the most honest, accommodating, friendly personable and professional company I have ever dealt with. Vanessa was organized and made my refrigerator purchase very easy; she had a print out and I walked in and Samantha helped; my purchase completed in 10 minutes. My new refrigerator was damaged in shipping; Kathy called me and was very compassionate and very very kind to me through my tears. She apologized, gave me a check for $50 AND offered me a free brand new loner refrigerator until mine came in. So, when my refrigerator came in there was a ding on the front door, and she called to make sure it was OK to deliver it and said new freezer door would be replaced in a week or so, which it was.
