I finally paid $110. Wow! Mike matched that price. hmmmm. Next- nicked roof fabric with razor when putting inspection sticker on windshield. My brand new car! Offered free oil change as compensation. Mike is the best kind of person, let alone mechanic. He is sincere, honest, and so pleasant, and I'm so glad I found this shop! I came in for a blinker problem, and in two minutes, he assessed the problem and ordered the part. When the part came in this afternoon, I came back and the job was done in another two minutes. I didn't even have time to sit down and wait. He also checked another issue with a light on my dash, without charging me. Wonderful, honest people. I had just gotten a state inspection at another shop and was told that I needed to get my rear brakes replaced. The guy quoted me $450 and asked for a deposit (which I stupidly paid). I wasn't sure about the price or details, so I called Mike's Auto to get a quote. Evans told me I should bring my car in to make sure that I actually needed service and that they usually price better than other places. Evans not only matched the price of the other shop, he deducted the deposit. I dropped my car off Friday morning and it was ready to go in the afternoon. All in all, it was a great experience. Best experience possible. The AC was broken in my car so I took it to Mikes Auto to get repaired. About 5 min after I left the car, I got a call from the manager saying that I can come back. It seems that the place I previously had the car serviced (in Brooklyn) had disconnected the AC in an attempt to get me to come back for further repairs. Mike's mechanic simply reconnected the AC and didn't charge me a thing. The whole affair took less than 10 min. This is def going to be my mechanic of choice in the future! read more

These guys are life savers. My car died to the point that my hazards wouldn't even turn on. I called them and they drove to where I was with my car with 2 batteries, started my car, drove it back to their shop. It was diagnosed and repaired in less than 24 hours on a weekend at a totally reasonable price. They were incredibly nice and honest and so easy to deal with. I can't say enough good things. I'm so happy I went to Mike's. I was borrowing a family member's car and otherwise don't own a car in NYC, so I'm pretty inexperienced dealing with the local garages. Based on these Yelp reviews, I called Mike's in advance and got a ballpark estimate based on what the problem sounded like. I checked this estimate with some people more knowledgeable than me, they said it sounded fair, so in I went. I worked with Eric and he was straightforward, responsive, and transparent about the repair. Called my cell at regular intervals to let me know how the job was going and what the price was looking like. Given that I basically admitted I had no idea what I was doing, I especially appreciated his honesty and candor. Eric got the job done on budget and faster than expected; I left feeling well-treated. One word of advice (not about Mike's per se) - I had to get a Triple-A tow from where the car was parked, and Triple-A appears to contract exclusively with 54th St Auto Center, at least in Manhattan. But you DON'T need to get your work done there. I asked the tow driver what he guessed the same job would cost at 54th St and he gave me a number that was nearly 2x the Mike's estimate. I told him I wanted to go to Mike's instead of 54th Street and he (somewhat begrudgingly) agreed. Apparently this happens a lot. Based on my experience at Mike's and the reviews of other shops, I can understand why. read more

DESTROYED MY CAR! I brought in a Porsche to have the convertible top fixed. They basically took a sledgehammer to the car - they put a hole in the rear window, Ruined the paint on the hood and quarter panel, Dented another quarter panel, ripped apart the molding, trim and back ledge, destroyed mechanical parts in the convertible that cost me an extra $2000 from Porsche to repair, the interior was filthy and greasy, The rim around the convertible gouged. It took them three months to give my car back which was free parking but the cost in damage and aggravation was not worth it. This place is insane. Mid-town Manhattan auto repair shop. I think we all know what you expect out of that. Pushy, expensive and abusive. This place is the opposite. Evens, I guess a manager or owner there was extremely responsive, honest and helpful. Not pushy to do anything extra. In fact they did extra work for no additional charge. Excellent. First start by saying that I am a mechanic myself. So when I was about an hour outside of New York City late at night and the front wheel bearing went out of my Suburban, I was prepared to pay a high New York repair bill. My husband and I ended up with a rock lodged between our wheel and brake pad while driving through the streets of NYC yesterday (Labor Day). Thanks to yelp, we discovered Mike's Auto. We called and they had us come right over and we were seen within 30 minutes (not a bad wait at all for a drop-in!). He was kind enough to even offer us seats in his office in an attempt to escape the heat. Mike and his colleague "diagnosed" the problem within minutes and when we asked how much we owed him, he declared, "Only a handshake!" I needed some work done on my wife's 07 IS250. I was ready to go to my regular mechanic when my wife found this spot on Yelp and insisted I give Mike's Auto a shot because she "had a good feeling" about them. The mechanic was able to diagnose my issue (failed water pump) within no more than 3 minutes and the car was back on the road in 1 day with a complimentary oil change and serpentine belt change. Dont let the exterior appearance deter you. The shop looks like a lil rinky dink cabby spot but they provided quick, trustworthy, friendly service without getting my wallet raped and I noticed them servicing a few other high end vehicles. Came here to have a brake part changed and then later a headlight bulb - both parts that I had purchased myself. Didn't make an appointment, but I did speak to them about the brake part in advance by phone. Both were taken care of expeditiously. Prices are very reasonable, would highly recommend. Guys I have good and Bad experiences with this place. The good thing is I got my truck Back but the bad things are I had to take it back twice because when they fixed my truck's wiring, the heat blower wasn't working right. therefore, I took it back. when I took my truck. I had filled out the paper (which's provided by them) if any parts need to be changed please consult with me . which they DID NOT and changed the starter. I knew my truck had wiring problem. Stater ? I told them to change the Oil they said they did it but my van's computer was saying that "change Oil soon" when I called them they told me that they forgot to re-set the computer so go back again which I decided not to. read more

This is by far the best auto shop in NYC, and I would recommend this shop if you have any issue with your car. Don't let the size of this shop fool you it may be small but they offer great service. I had just moved to the city from Colorado and I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I went here when my transmission failed to shift into 2nd gear. All most all of the shops I called told me no matter what it would be at least $1000 dollars to fix my issue, one shop even told me that that they wouldn't look at my car until I gave them $1200. When I came across Mike's Auto it was a different situation entirely. The person on the phone was very polite and helpful, told me that I should bring the car in so they could get a better understanding for the issue. I met with Eric and he was amazing to talk with, he took a drive with me in the car and told me everything on his mind. Told me upfront that he would have to look closer at the car to find out what was happening and didn't charge my a thing just to look at the car. Called me a few days later and said that he thought he knew what the issue was, and quoted me a price below what I expected. He was very upfront in telling me that this may not fix the issue and that there could be something else wrong with my transmission. He was more then transparent then I could have ever hope for and called to keep me posted, I never once felt the need to call and ask what is going on with my car. WHEN HE CALLED ME AND SAID MY CAR WAS FIXED AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE IT WAS UNDER HIS ORIGINAL QUOTE!!! When I got my Jeep back it felt better then it ever did and I knew at that point the only shop that I will let touch my car will be Mike's Auto. The people at this shop care about getting your car fixed, making it safe and making you a happy customer. Which means not ripping you off. On 12/23/2013 in the Bronx, I was hit on the drivers side. The mechanic/body shop I used last time is no longer operating (marital problems), he was great. I like other customers have had really bad experiences, and few good ones. It's so difficult in NYC trying to find any honest businesses & owners who provide quality service. We found "Mike's Auto" on YELP. Every review we read was Excellent!!! We thought this had to be a mistake, no business is that good where every customer review written was excellent, nobody said anything bad, no negative reviews, this can't be true, there is no such place, especially in New York!!! Well I was proven wrong, there is a place with people who believe in doing quality work, helping uncomplicate peoples car-care needs, through honesty and fair mindedness. Rick and Eric eased my automotive repair fears in locating a autobody/automotive repair shop. I will be back because I've discovered a car repair shop that does quality work at a fair price. Needed an inspection in a hurry on my older car, but my check engine light went on and wouldn't pass inspection in that state. Went to Mike's based on the Yelp reviews, and they diagnosed the code (at no charge when i was prepared to pay). Then received an honest accounting of what they'd need to do (most likely a Catalytic converter replacement - very expensive) and helped with other potential options. All in all, Evans and the team were honest, gave fair quotes, were accommodating, worked around my schedule, and ultimately I got the inspection. These mechanics are polite to your face but beware: they will do unnecessary work at a highly inflated cost, take longer than they say they will -- in my case two days longer -- and give you nowhere to sit while you are waiting. I ended up taking my car back to NJ to the sweet guys I bought it from, who showed me the 5 dollar part I had paid hundreds more for, and explained the work that had not needed to be done at at least double the fair cost. I have been going to Mike's Auto for about 5 years. This place is unreal. They are the most honest, knowledgable, hard working, reliable people I have ever dealt with. Being a woman, I always feel intimidated by going to the auto repair shop. I don't know how cars work, and it's easy to feel like a target for rip off. Whoever I've dealt with at Mike's (and especially Mike himself), have done everything they can to get my car fixed with minimum cost and time. Today I had an emergency at took my car there first thing in the morning. They fixed the problem and did not even want to charge me because it was a relatively simple problem. Every mother's nightmare! I get a call from my son that is visiting NY over the Thanksgiving holidays to inform me that his car broke down and his jeep was towed by AAA to a very shady car repair! (NYC Tire and Auto Care) I was horrified when I read the reviews and knew I had to get his car out of there ASAP! The shady car repair wanted $1,300 to fix car. I politely declined and said I will have it towed elsewhere. I then called Mike's Auto at 6:00 PM the night before Thanksgiving and Evan answered the phone! Evan told me to have car towed first thing Friday morning and Omar will take care of everything. Well, that's what we did and he was right! Omar took care of repairing the car in one day and cost was $300.00! I had a really bad experience where my car's timing belt broke on the highway, about 25 miles north of Manhattan. At 8AM on a Sunday morning when this happened, I frantically looked up Yelp reviews for a place in Manhattan for the tow truck driver. Mike's came up as well-reviewed, so I called in a frenzy to see if they were open and would accept my car. It wasn't during normal business hours, but there were guys there, and they happily accepted the car. After dropping it off, Eric (an employee at Mike's) took a look at it on Monday. I decided not to go through with the repairs because my car is old and it just wasn't worth it. But, Mike's Auto was so nice and held on to my car for a whole week, while I worked out my title so I could sell the car. They were very nice, and trustworthy, and although I didn't go through with any repairs with them, they were so nice to help me out. I highly recommend this place! read more

Customer service: Very casual and a people pleaser. The owner tries too hard to be friendly and gain your trust at the beginning, so he can lay back and be lazy with work quality later and not give you the full satisfaction in your car service. We had a really good few times at the beginning where everything was smooth and got fixed just fine with good fees. After the 3rd time, we witnessed lack of communication, he kept our car for a very long time and never got the work done done. The moment he finally worked on it, the car broke down couple days later, the broken piece he installed, broke in half, and had to tow the car another place. Nothing in this company is efficient, lack of communication and never on time as he says. Please continue to work on your business and act upon making customer satisfaction mandatory.
