Mike, Dan, and his team are AMAZING! They came highly recommended from a friend. Tuttle-Click Jeep wanted $12,000 (estimate attached) for engine repair on a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ 74k miles. Dan and his team were able to get me in quickly and do a more thorough repair for less than half the price ($5,900). From the quick estimate turnaround, quick repair time (about a week), unbeatable price, great communication, friendly, honest, and top notch quality work I couldn't ask for more. Just got my Sprinter 2500 smog checked and full PM. These guys are 100 % --diligent and helpful in making sure you're keeping ahead of maintenance requirements, using the correct oil and diligently looking over for any potential issues. They emphasized the importance of making sure you change the fuel filter which is key to this diesel system. Also, these Turbo Diesels will get much improved performance with an air filter change. Been looking for a new shop as the local dealership I used to go to started finding so many "issues" with my car. Was even tempted to go back to Autonation since they mailed me a coupon (who isn't trying to save money in this climate of job uncertainty?) but when I called to get a quote, their staff couldn't find anyone and never bothered to return my call. So that made my decision to finally check out Mike's, as it was recommended by one of my coworkers. Called to ask about pricing for an oil change and it's pretty comparable to another shop another friend had recommended. Actually, left a message on Saturday (they are open but I'm assuming they were busy) and they like a competent business called me back that Monday so I made an oil change appointment that week. Told me it should take no more than an hour. So I bought my work phone and took care of work emails. They brought up a chair for me to sit on. There's no fancy lobby with TV or frills but since it was less than a hour it's not necessary. Just bring a book or something to keep you entertained or you can walk to local spot. It's in a more industrial spot of Santa Ana. And it took less than hour for them to do my oil change, they rotated my tires and topped off any fluids I was low in. Didn't try to sell me anything, which I appreciate. They may not be the cheapest in town but I don't feel they are trying to trick me or use fear tactics. read more

These mechanics (Mike & Dan) are awesome!! I drive a good 25 miles for routine maintenance 'cause I know it'll be done right the first time and charged accordingly. When I've needed repairs to be done 98% of time it's fixed right the first time. I upgraded my AAA towing miles for the sole purpose of bringing my vehicle here. Mike is seriously the most honest, by the book mechanic. The mechanics here, truly break it down to you to help you understand the issues one may have with their cars. One of the mechanics even gave me an overall breakdown on cars and engines in a most simplistic way where I can understand and not just throwing jargon at me. Everything they say, is truly by the book. They always give the true priority of what work needs to be done and what can be done later. They really aren't the typical mechanic who makes you feel like you are getting screwed. What I like most about Mike and his mechanics is their honesty, they understand that loyal customers will always come back if you are honest. I was referred to Mike's Automotive as a fair and thorough general automotive repair shop - and really saved a lot of money with them. I'd been having issues with my 2001 F150 and the dealerships were of no help. I'd always been told that was the best service you could get. I'm done paying the prices the Service Desk gets - Mike's Automotive has even better mechanics (at least for a run of the mill F150) - they fixed problems the dealership couldn't even find (after I told them to "look for problems" ) - Dan (from Mike's) got my alignment to stick - which was a problem for years - and got the whole suspension back in shape for about half what I'd expected. Thanks goodness for word of mouth referrals. I have a good, honest mechanic finally. Check that off the list. read more

I have a 2010 Range River Sport and unfortunately it is true what they say about Land Rovers that the cars spend more time in the shop than actually being driven! I just had a dash warning light come on as I was driving by so I swung into Mike's. I read their reviews so I figured they were a good shop. I work in the industry so I see repair shops every day. When I walked up, they ignored me as if I had the plague. A woman walks up right after I did and they took care of her needs and then again they just pretended I was not there. Finally, the big person said you work for *** and walked away without giving me an opportunity to say I actually had an issue with my vehicle. By this time, I was so aggravated at their ignorance I got in my vehicle and went to another shop down the road. 7/27/2012 So a young woman broke down with a flat tire across the street today. I offered to help install her spare. We couldn't get the factory jack free, so we asked the guys at Mikes for a jack to use. Shamelessly, they tried to squeeze 20$ out of the woman, and when they couldn't con her, I began to try myself. After a few, I asked again for the lady, this time, the owner Mike chuckled and told me to "read the owners manual". I lost it and the woman had to drive off with a flat to go find a less heartless shop. I told the guys I would write a negative review, and they tried to physically intimidate me, grabbing a tire iron and swearing at me. long story short, please do not bring these guys any business and tell your friends as well. My uncle has been coming to mike for years, way before I was old enough to get a car. Now that I'm 20, I have had a car for some time and it likes to take a dump on me every once in a while. Mike and Dan have got to be the most amazing guys ever when it comes to fixing cars. I'm a college student and most of my money gets put towards my units. So when my car does act up, I get scared that I may not be able to pay for it to get fixed, or pay for my units. With the prices that Mike and Dan give me, and everyone else, I can do both and still have a lot of money left over! Never have they tried to screw me over on little things here and there. Mike's is THE BEST mechanic that we know of locally and we wouldn't take our cars anywhere else. We have always had really good luck with the guys here being very friendly, honest, and very up front about fixing our cars. You always hear horror stories about how mechanics try to rip you off and charge you for extra things you don't need (ahem...looking at you, Jiffy Lube!) but the mechanics at Mike's are down to earth, no nonsense, and reasonable about costs. When we've told them before that we don't have a lot of money to spend on repairs, they have several times very kindly either given us a discount or given us a detailed breakdown of what things we could and should fix right away in order to save some cash. I think it's a good sign when a mechanic is willing to show you exactly what he did to your car and then explain the steps or other recommendations for upcoming necessary service. Mike's does this without pressuring you or trying to trick you into unnecessary repairs. We always take our cars here for oil changes and though I think it's a bit pricier here than something you could get at a chain service station (a change is usually around $45), the service and the peace of mind you get knowing it's done right are worth it (I've had Autozone do some minor fixes for me before and they ended up installing a battery in my car wrong...how is that even possible?!) As far as major repairs, the shop doesn't do body work, but they will order any parts necessary for you and get the fixes done in a timely manner (usually just 24 hours). The repairs always cost almost exactly what they quote you up front, too--you're not going to arrive at the shop and find several hundred extra dollars tacked on to your bill. Mike's isn't open on the weekends, which isn't very convenient, but because they have quick turnaround and reliable and regular service men, it's worth giving them a chance. You should make them your mechanic of choice, too! read more
