We stopped in for lunch on our way to Camden. We weren't that hungry, so we ordered light. My wife started with onion soup, which was hot tasty and covered with cheese. after the soup she had a small spinach salad, and they're not kidding when they say "small." But the house vinaigrette was good. I had a cup of clam chowder, which was run-of-the mill but OK. My cobb salad was as it should be, but nothing out of the ordinary. Coffee was weak and lukewarm, but non-toxic. Next time, if there is one, we won't order salads in a clam shack. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night. I asked the hotel front desk for a recommendation on which restaurants were best for selection during the offseason and she said Mike's. I was a little concerned because my wife cannot stand to be around seafood, but we decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and wide varying menu options. I decided to go with the Turkey Pot Pie and it didn't disappoint! My daughter had a reasonably priced lobster roll($14.99), my wife had a burger and my son had a hotdog. All of the food was tasty and my wife's burger was cooked perfectly. We had the peanut butter pie and cheesecake for dessert which were also pretty good. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the service. It was pretty average and the restaurant was only about 50% full. However, I'm willing to chalk that up to being offseason. I will try this restaurant again during the summer to see if it is better staffed to keep up. I will report back once I do. read more

Great, sweet lobster at a fabulous price. The fries were crisp and the slaw was some of the best we've had. Plus the service was the best! Our server was efficient, quick and personable - you can't ask for more! We highly recommend Mike's Clam Shack! read more

I really loved the service even though it was kinda crowded. There was a few issues with the food, the coleslaw was like a salad so it need more mayo. The Sword fish was good, and the clam chowder was amazing. Our server Justin was super friendly and a excellent waiter, you can't blame your waiters for any of the food mistakes. Ate here twice last week. Sports bar at lunch time food good, fast service, waiter great. Dinner a few nights before ordered lobster special, waitress not so good. Never came back to check on us, only gave us part of our dinner. Food was good but annoying not to have everything we ordered. If Christy is your waitress ask for someone else. They were not that crowded that night so she was not overworked. read more

Visited Mike's in early May craving Maine shrimp. It was delicious, as were the 'shack' potatoes.

Stopped in on 5/8/14 The waitress was beyond great - cordial and attending to every need. Ordered the Fried Clam dinner - well this was beyond super! Both the person and myself felt it was the best Clam dinner we have had in a long time. The clams and fries were HOT and the Coleslaw was cold and fresh and plenty of condiments given. I have already recommended this to several people heading up North over the summer. Great job. read more

Came here with my family looking for lobster and chowder. Clam chowder was delicious but the clams that came with the lobster dinner were completely full of sand. Lobster was good but there's definitely much better restaurants in Maine such as lobster pound. Chef was nice and gave us free desert since the clams were awful and our server was great! read more

Just got back from wells,Maine first time at mikes been going down in that area several years just never there. I was impressed really good service food excellent prices really good. It's as good as all the other restaurants I've been going too in the area from ogunquit to York up to Portland. read more

This is one of the better places in town to get seafood, and that's coming from a local. I have been to most of the seafood places in town, and few compare to this. Okay, yes, it is a massive tourist trap, which is why I left out the fifth star. This place is ridiculous on a Friday night. That's where the take out place comes in handy. I love coming here amidst all of the tourists because you know the seafood is fresh and it's local. The clams are always succulent. The scallops are also quite good. The haddock is amazing and always tasty. If you are looking for great service, this is not the place to come on a Friday night in the summer. They are friendly and very helpful, but quite slow. Although you have to weave through the hordes of tourists, it is worth the wait. read more

Whenever the family is in town, we have to go here not just once. The clams are outstanding and so are the other dishes. A homey feeling. Beware, always a line. but you can eat quicker if you go to the backroom tables. In April, it is all you can eat clam strips.. read more

Yuck on everything about this place. Stopped here with a mini-van full of my nieces for dinner on the way back from Kennebunkport. The wait was much longer than what we were told. When we finally were seated, the food was mediocre at best. Small portions. Tomato the color of an unpainted fingernail in the iceberg lettuce salad. Broasted chicken was a bad call on my part but I was thinking of what would be good leftovers for my dog. It was pretty terrible but she ate it and seemed to enjoy it. Whatever. What really made me hate this place was when the waitress was mean about my niece being out of her chair. Yes, I know that kids shouldn't be allowed out of their chairs during dinner at a crappy restaurant but we were about to leave after this miserable meal and the waitress being mean was just too much. Just got back from dinner at Mike's. We've been going there for many years. We first found The Clam Shack when it was south on rte1 where the Clam Shanty is now, We have always loved the food and the friendly service in both locations and have returned time and time again, Tonight however, was our first bad experience and I hope it was just an " off night". I ordered baked stuffed haddock with "Shack potato", the potato was described as potato with bits of onion, peppers, sour cream. I received a side dish of mushy cubes of potato with nothing in it. Very bland with no flavor and not appetizing at all. The stuffing on the haddock was a splotch of wet bread stuff plopped in the middle of a casserole with the haddock floating in moisture. So disappointing and not at all like I've had there many times before. Couldn't eat it in spite of asking for tartar sauce (after finally standing up and getting the attention of the overworked waitress). I think they are trying to feed so many people now, that the quality of the food has suffered. This restaraunt is always very very crowded and popular. So sorry to have to post this honest evaluation. read more
