We killed about 7-8 at our table and even had one fly into my friend's water before asking to move tables. Also, my friend found bones in her salmon sushi. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately my experience fell pretty short. My clear soup wasn't clear at all, it was full of soy sauce. The tuna tartare was very underwhelming--far too spicy to the point that it completely overpowered the flavor of the tuna itself. Instead of tasting fresh and balanced, it just felt like heat for the sake of heat. The rice was another letdown. I asked for stir fry, but what I got was basically fried rice, lacking that fresh, wok-fired flavor and texture you'd expect from a proper stir-fry. It didn't taste freshly prepared and felt more like a shortcut than what was advertised. My girlfriend's meal was even more disappointing than mine, which really sealed the overall experience for us. When both dishes miss the mark, it's hard to overlook. The service didn't help either. I'd give our server two stars as well--he was short, dry, and largely inattentive. We were mostly ignored throughout the meal, and he only really came back when it was time to bring the bill. Ironically, the most attention we got was when we were already leaving and our waters were finally refilled. The price point was actually good, which makes it even more frustrating that the food and service didn't live up to expectations. I can always count on Poseidon for a later night option. I typically get the charboiled oysters, which are usually consistent. I also always get the Special Pearl Roll which comes with seafood. However, I make sure to ask for light sauce so I can truly appreciate the flavor of the roll. I also really love their Crab Rangoon appetizer. The bar service is usually pretty good as well, and their wine and cocktail prices are reasonable. If you're looking for a late night spot, this fits the bill. read more

We went for the $30 All You Can Eat Sushi on a Sunday night. We had no problems getting a table for 6 people earlier in the night. We even made it in time to order a bottle of half off champagne during happy hour!! They had a full menu. The tuna tartare was delicious and served very nicely. We booked a karaoke room for a friend's birthday one night and it was the best! I was able to book it so easily through Yelp and we walked right in. Our server was amazing!! So sweet and kind, she came to check on us often and was the nicest. We had ordered a sushi boat of some sort from the room menu and it was really good. The drinks and shots were on par and they had a lot of options for us. The room itself has a 2 hour limit and I think it's "free" as long as you meet the $ requirement from the food and drinks. Once I got them under the light, I saw the shrimp were a nasty grey color under the coconut batter. It was absolutely disgusting and I almost vomited. The decay under the batter was obvious and completely unacceptable. I cannot believe someone thought it was okay to serve and send this out to a customer. What makes it worse is that this restaurant used to be good. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years, and I have never in my life seen seafood this bad be sent out to a guest. I've booked a private room for karaoke twice with a large group of friends. This is the only place left on the East Bank of NO with private karaoke rooms. You use your phone to project onto the tv, and Poseidon provides the sound system and microphones. A server checks on the group often, bringing food and drinks in as you order them. The food comes in large portions and is good, but could be better. Mostly we just go here for the karaoke! Be careful with your bill! It's $25 per person for every 2 hours of karaoke. If people order more food and drink than $25, you will be very surprised by the bill at the end!! It's also a good idea to keep track of your time. If you go over the 2 hours, it will roll into another 2. We usually plan on going for 4 hours and set an alarm, because they won't alert you when the time rolls into the next payment. read more

It's pretty dead inside. Two tables filled inside, including us. We ordered two green salads with ginger dressing, rocky roll, Thai lemongrass coconut chicken soup, chicken pad Thai (only comes as one spice level), they will try to make it spicier for us. $29.51. Our waitress forgot about our rocky roll, we let it go, since we were done eating here. The incessant ringing from their food delivery apps is going off constantly in the background. The lettuce is garbage, mostly rotten lettuce and mostly iceberg. The Thai lemongrass coconut chicken soup is okay, super creamy from the coconut and the chicken pieces are oddly cut and shaped. The pad Thai has a decent flavor, the rice noodles are super thin and not loving the chicken in this dish or the fried or roasted tofu either. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and I definitely got my sushi fix! They recently upgraded the karaoke room with new speakers and a beautiful remodel--it really made the experience special. The real standout, though, was Mr. Lee, the owner. He was so welcoming and made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. He's funny, charismatic, and truly generous; he even surprised us by comping a bottle of tequila! We felt like VIPs the whole night.
