Mikimoto is FIRE! The food, service, and dining experience was great. Dined in on a casual Thursday night and had a great time. Our server was super attentive and informative on the rolls we ordered. For appetizers, we got the squid steak, and it came out on a hot plate sizzling with teriyaki sauce! We also got the Deluxe roll, Uptown roll, NOFD roll (spicy), and Box Salmon. All were super good especially the NOFD roll. The house made spicy chili oil they put on there is one of a kind. I also noticed they had a to-go window, but you must call ahead and come to pick your order up. They were pretty busy and I was super impressed with their team. This place is soy awesome! Their proportions are HUGE - you will be satisfied and then some. The sushi was great - fish seemed fairly fresh and their specialty rolls were packed with fish and came with nine pieces per roll, which is insane. As you can see if the picture one of the rolls took up almost the whole takeout container on its own. They must be using giant nori! This place is such a good deal for seriously quality sushi. Added bonus they have a drive through pick up window so you can order online and just swing by the drive through to pick it up. Super COVID safe! The entire order was a disappointment I spent around 50 dollars on my order of eel Sushi the so call Japanese style seafood rice horrible I must say. Mikimoto's has quickly become my favorite new sushi spot. (And I say "new" because even though they have been open for years, my first time here was just a few months ago.) For starters, I love the crab shumai and my friend loves the cold noodle appetizer. The sushi is super fresh and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the mango roll. Mikimoto is a solid sushi restaurant with incredible lunch time deals. For years I never understood the allure of sushi. Like many things I have discovered in the past few years, I now can't get enough. Mikimoto was the latest stop in my quest to try every sushi place in the city. While I only went for lunch, I have a feeling I will be back sooner rather than later. The lunch specials are very good. My roll special had two rolls, a soup and salad for only $8. The rolls were fresh and very well made and the soup was very good. The salad was a bit plain, but with the amount of food I received, I didn't even need it. Service was prompt and friendly. The one complaint I have is the parking. Because of the small lot, there is limited parking around the building. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, but there was nearly no parking available. So what do ya know Mikimoto is the only sushi delivery option at my work. I gave them another try and am still frustrated. As much as I love sushi, I find it frustrating not to be able to find something on the menu that looks appealing. Of course theres the noodle salad, shumai and gyoza but they get that from some japanese warehouse- hell sysco prob delivers it. There isnt one roll that looks appetizing and to add $2 for soy paper to an already overpriced roll is redic. No sushi lunch option either. I had a really bad first experience with Mikimoto but now, years later, it is my favorite sushi place in the city. The game changer for me was dining in, I got great service and felt the food was fresher and more well made. I now often get takeout. I highly recommend the Tiger roll and the Salmon Twist roll. They also have my favorite fresh salmon roll in the city, so simple but so fresh! The mango roll is also a favorite, but they are often a big stingy with the salmon in that roll and use snow crab as a filler ingredient. Also love their sake cosmo! read more

There were definitely more servers which speeded up the operation. I feel like their fish was so much fresher as well. Tuna this afternoon was really on point. I am not sure if it was for every single item on the menu but my go to item on the menu has gone up in price. Never ordering from this place ever again. I order the chicken katsu with pan fried rice. Come to find out the rice was not cook all the way and the chicken katsu was not enough. I have tried chicken katsu from other restaurants in Kenner and they put 2 big breast chicken katsu. The rice is also cook all the way and it taste way better. One of my favorite sushi restaurants in New Orleans. If I'm craving some good rolls, this is the spot! The entire staff is super friendly and welcoming. They offer free delivery (within a range from their location) and also have a drive-thru pickup window for takeout. As for dining in, I love that they offer a free side of noodle salad if you order from the sushi bar. It is refreshing and I always look forward to it. A couple of my favorite rolls are the Deluxe, NOFD, Uptown, and Nola roll. I also usually get the baked yellowtail neck (always so big!) and squid steak (the best in the city) as appetizers. Everything was fresh and beyond amazing, and despite being insanely busy with call in orders they took care of us super promptly and our waitress was sweet and awesome. A small spot introduced by a friend. It's not the sushi that gets to me but their appetizer dishes. The waitresses are nice on most part, its not your typical fancy sushi spot, but more of a casual place to get a quick bite. My experience was so far so good except the last time I came by. I ordered one roll and it ended up to be $15.00. They extra charged me for the wrap because they couldn't fit the roll in the regular seaweed paper, and on the receipt said extra charge for tuna $2.00. That's totally fine but at the end of that line was another $2.00 charge which didn't have a specification next to it. I asked the waitress what it was for and she said the tuna so why wasn't it originally just $4.00 instead of $2.00 and an extra $2.00. Anyways, she should have said how much the roll would cost since with all those extra charges. Pretty ridiculous considering this is not that authentic sushi spot. These are the two things I only come for and the only things I will stick to next time. --Baked Scallop (5/5) Scallops with enoki mushrooms topped with creamy spicy mayo. Amazing. --Noodle Salad (5/5) Very simple dish, regular noodles with cucumber, carrots, sesame seeds. It has this mayo and sesame oil taste to it, but it goes great with the baked scallop. The sushi is pretty good and the miso soup is delicious as well. As for the service not so much. I have dined here a couple of times and I always leave a good tip. This particular time we were seated by the older female lady who works here. In the past, the younger male waiter has been exceptional when serving my table. However, this time we were pointed to a table and thrown menus. We had our orders taken and she quickly asked us about the check, even bringing it out when we weren't done eating. We gave her a tip (which in reality we shouldn't have) and tried to finish eating our food until she came running up to our table screaming that a tip of 18% is required and what we gave her is not enough. I asked her where in the menu it said that, she pointed at an empty space on the menu and admitted that she lied. This lady tried to harass us to pay her more money after she couldn't give us the time of day we were trying to order our food. I always leave a good tip unless in rare cases we are treated badly. This is that case. I always order here but after experiencing this type of disrespect I am second guessing if I will ever come to this establishment again. There are plenty of other sushi restaurants options in NOLA. In addition, we asked to speak to the manager, who is very kind however, nothing was resolved. Charged me 1.50$ for switching avocado in a roll for cream cheese. I know avocado costs more than cream cheese so why the charge? They're saving money by the switch. The excuse was labor costs...im sorry, does Cream cheese take more time than avocado when rolling sushi? Woman on the phone was extremely rude. They're clearly nickel and dime-Ing their guests trying to get as much as possible for a mediocre product. Never again. Also if you order via Uber eats, you can't contest any upcharge they give post order. So there's no recourse if you get milked for a few extra bucks my them.
