I really don't like to write negative reviews but I am hoping that writing this might help Mikki's correct a simple problem! I ate at Mikki's for the first time recently after reading the menu online several times and was really looking forward to having the chance to go there. I love Eggs Benedict & Mikki's has them! Unfortunately, the Hollandaise sauce was absolutely tasteless! I tried to doctor it up with salt & pepper but that didn't help! The hash browns that came with it were OK but also tasteless! I will definitely try Mikki's again & want to try the corned beef hash. The waitress was very pleasant & the service was excellent! Sorry Mikki's! But I'll try again! read more

Went there for my first time on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The food was great and the service there was excellent. The servers took care of my friend and I and treated us like family. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely go back there for breakfast, and their prices are really reasonable as well. read more

The Wife and I came here for breakfast, unfortunately we left only having Coffee...... What gives you say? We were promptly seated OR told sit wherever you'd like so we did, a waitress came behind us dropped a couple menu's asked if we like something to drink, coffee was served. We then looked over the menu and decided what we wanted, it was a busy Sunday morning and we watched as she went back and fourth delivering food etc.. after about 10 minutes I got impatient as their was another waitress not doing as much and another lady whom I guess was just the Coffee refiller lady! I tried to flag our waitress down but she didn't pay much attention I guess she was too busy!.... Then another waitress comes over and says your waitress is busy right now she'll be with you soon! Food pretty much sucked. It tasted cheap and frozen. Kinda like the breakfast items in the frozen food section at the grocery store. Everything and flavorless. And the waitresses had attitude. I will never go here again. My Aunt dropped some cash in between seats and wall and wasn't sure what the folded bills were. The manager/ owner came over took out bench seat and the only thing that was found was 2 folded $20s. The waitress a very nice person up till now came over and said a regular lost 2 20s in that same booth. What are the odds. My aunt counted her money and it was correct. The waitress then out loud in front of everyone says something about honesty and insinuates that my 64 year old Aunt was dishonest. That made me very angry. I will never go back there again !!! escondido, wake up to a great lil place i found in your town, i travel, and im a chef, and Mikki's is worth checking out, not fancy, just some great food, the chorizo made by them no wonder it was so good, wife had the fruit pancakes and they were a hit. First visit to Mikki's this weekend. I'm trying to hit all of the breakfast spots in Escondido! We arrived late in the morning and were told to sit anywhere, it was not crowded at all. I considered getting biscuits and gravy but there was a review that said the gravy was awful, so that made me nervous, so I ordered the French Toast combo that came with eggs, hashbrowns and bacon. I liked how the bacon was cooked, crispy without being burnt, but it was sort of a small portion, I think it was supposed to be two slices, but it was the equivalent of one slice. the eggs were scrambled just right and the hashbrowns were fine. I wasn't a hug fan of the hashbrowns and I'm not sure why, I usually love them, but they weren't very crispy and just didn't wow me. The French Toast was fine, made with regular sliced bread, kind of what French Toast is like if you make it at home. The husband ordered the machaca and eggs and he was very happy with his meal. Overall, the food was fine. Nothing special, but good. Service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and very attentive. The cost was average for a diner breakfast. I think it came out to about $22 for two meals and an iced tea so a decent value. They accept credit cards. The bathroom wasn't pleasant. It had a VERY strong scent in there, maybe a cleaning product, that gagged me and I had to hold my breath and cover my face until i could escape. Decent experience. I would eat there again, but it is unlikely I would choose it because I can get similar or better meals closer to home or at other local breakfast establishments. read more

This place is a small store front with great service and waitresses who remember you when you come back. There is never a wait and there are lots of regulars here. The food is pretty decent for the price. I have only been here for breakfast and usually stick with the chorizo and eggs. They do like kids here which is a plus for me as I have three in diapers. read more

I chanced upon this delightful place while shipping a package next to it. I was greeted by the owner at the door as a painted sign on the window coaxed me in with the promise of prime rib. There was plenty of room and as I was alone chose to sit at the counter that ran a good 30 ft. The menu covers both Mexican and American food and a variety of beers are offered. I ordered the prime rib and quickly was presented with a huge serving with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. the kitchen can be seen from the counter and the cook/owner talked to me as he prepared my meal giving me a back home feeling. I've gone back many times and have had Huevos Rancheros, Chicken Fried Steak ( my fave !!) and have just about gone thru the menu. Each visit is the same. BEWARE!!! Negative 5 stars if it was an option. I don't believe I have been disrespected so much in my life. I am not one to complain about food services but I will NEVER be coming to this restaurant ever again. My family came here to order breakfast and everything seemed fine. Looked like a nice family restaurant. We sat down ordered our food to our liking with specific directions. My mother wanted her eggs cooked over medium with all the whites cooked; she wanted the bacon extremely crispy, "almost burnt" is what she asked. Upon bringing the food to the table, my family can see that nothing is the way that we kindly requested. My prime rib that I ordered MEDIUM was placed down in front of me well done, with no pink in the middle. My eggs came almost raw the whites were not cooked. At all. My mothers eggs and bacon were not cooked the way she wanted. Some of the pieces of bacon were cooked, some were raw. They have no consistency. I completely lost my appetite, when the waitress came back to the table I told her what was wrong with the order KINDLY, she took the food back, she asked if I wanted my pancakes, I said no because I didn't want to pay for the meal. She told me, "Its not our fault if you don't like the meal." I was in shock when I heard that, her saying that even after she saw the plate of undercooked foot that was sitting right introns of her. She told me that she was not going to be taking the meal off, it's not our fault that you didn't like the meal that you ordered. I was so upset, she came back to fill up the waters at the table and I told her that I shouldn't have to pay for a meal that I did not like or eat. As she is pouring my waters, she says "Since YOU were being so CHEAP I took the meal off for you already" My moms jaw dropped, eye brows were raised in the dining area from what other people were listening to. I have never been so disrespected EVER in a restaurant. I was so kind to her and she was not accommodating for me or anyone at my family. We will NEVER go to this eating establishment to eat again. I wouldn't even eat there even if my meal was free. People reading this need to understand that what this waitress did was disrespectful and rude. She must be part owner for her to feel that she has the right to talk to people this way. I'm not so sure why this restaurant has so many good reviews...it amazes and shocks me to the point where they were all paid to be put on here. Beware. If you do go, check everything that I have just said and compare for yourself. read more

I"m not a breakfast person but when I know I am going to have a long day, I spring for a big breakfast. I was visiting my best friend in Cali. and she recommended this place. My kids ordered hot chocolate that came with a huge swirl of whipped cream. I ordered a coffee which was great. I find that usually breakfast restaurants use a dark roast, Mikki's coffee was perfect. We were provided with house made salsa. I ordered two over medium eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Very good. Kid ordered pancakes and eggs. Syrup is served warm. mmmm. I asked if they used real eggs and explained I couldn't have the fake eggs because they made me sick...oh my goodness she gave me the dirtiest look like I offended her. On 11-10-18 my wife and i went here for a late breakfast. I regret not just going to mcdonalds or burgerking instead. To start we had water. It tasted horrible! We both took a sip and spit it back into the cup. I've had better water from the garden hose. I had scabbled eggs, they were typical normal scrabbled eggs, country potatoes that we had were bland w no spice or flavor, on top were onions and bell peppers. The onions were hardly cooked and too raw to eat. The pancakes were good. Bacon was typical and good as it usually is. My wife had the spinach omelette which was good, but she was equally disappointed with the county potatoes and raw peppers and onions ontop. The restaurant has snagged and stained carpet, broken light fixtures, and bathrooms of gas station decor. Service was acceptable and fast. Price was average. I will definitely not return, much better at home or other places across town. It was a disappointment and waste of money. read more

GOOD ENOUGH Happened upon this place when running errands with the kiddos and since it was late in the breakfast hour, decided to try a new place. It was a simple little place nothing fancy, but clean. The service was relaxed and a little slow to take our orders, though they made up for it when I ordered a plate of fruit to come out to the table before the rest of the meal to placate my kids. The fruit it self was the typical fruit salad fare with a fresh cut banana, however I picked out a few yucky grapes, otherwise fine. The rest of the meal came out within a decent amount to time, and was passing. I got a tuna melt and onion rings. I enjoyed the onion rings, but would have liked a little more flavor to the tuna and the bread was a little greasy. I've had worse, and better. The kids got a kiddie burger and mini pancakes. The breakfast was well received, but the burger was just bread and meat. I was expecting a little more like lettuce or pickles or even ketchup. It was nothing special but fine enough. I'd likely go back if I were in the area. Probably not my first choice, but nothing against it. read more

This is our current go to breakfast stop. The hubby and I have stopped in twice now and will certainly be back again. The service is fantastic and the staff is super friendly. The pricing is very reasonable and they have a nice selection of your typical breakfast fare. (They lunch and dinner, but we have not tried either out.)
