Having been to Santorini and tasting some of the most amazing Greek food, nothing in the Bay Area has come close except for Mikonos Grill. When my husband and I moved to North San Jose 7 years ago we stumbled upon this place by chance and tried their Greek Lemon Chicken and our lives forever changed. No joke. This is one of our favorite dishes EVER. We moved to Union City about 5 years ago and still make the trip to Mikonos for the chicken. (BTW the other dishes are good but the chicken is the best.) Also just this past November we ordered catering from them for our daughters first birthday and all our guests raved about the amazing food. We are definitely fans for life. This place has been around for as long as I can remember and this was the first time I've tried their food! I'm a little disappointed in myself for not trying it earlier because I've definitely missed out. I got the veggie plate, seafood plate, and the chicken/lamb plate. I was so impressed! All of it was cooked soo well. All the different meats were still moist my the time I got home. I'm usually really picky when it comes to Mediterranean food but I liked everything that came with the plate. Such a happy camper and I'll be sure to continue ordering from here. read more

This place really is a hidden gem. I've been to this plaza many of times and always wanted to try, but never went in since it always seemed empty (like it wasn't good!). Friends of mine brought me here and I'm glad they did because this place is affordable, good, & the portions are nice and big. I ordered a Gyros Plate which came with the sandwich, a soup or salad (I picked the soup) and fries. The sandwich was packed with yummy meat and veggies. The meat was perfectly marinated and not salty at all. The entire meal was fresh and the fires were piping hot! The soup was new to me, so i'm not sure if that's what it normally tastes like, but it was a bit bland to me. I had my daughter with me and I was so glad they had something basic like a cheese burger and fries, it was huge as well. I can't wait to come back, I'm drooling while I type this out. read more

I've been going to Yiassoo for years so when I found out Mikonos is it's sister restaurant, I had to try it. I am an instant fan. The environment is casual and does not have table-service. Customers order at the counter, get their own drinks and then find a table. When the food is ready, it is delivered to the table. We tried the lamb souvlaki plate and the rack of lamb plate, both with a Greek salad and French fries. We ordered both meats medium rare but the souvlaki was cooked well- done and the rack of lamb cooked medium-well. Despite being over-cooked, both were very tender. They tasted similar but the rub was a bit different. If we had to choose, my dining companion liked the lamb souvlaki better but I liked the rack of lamb better. Both were good. The salad was tasty and refreshing. The fries were a bit soggy sitting under the meat but they were tasty after being dipped into the tzatziki sauce. We will soon become regulars of this place. read more

Mikonos Grill is one of my favorite restaurants. They have quality platters that are very filling. I enjoy their chicken souvlaki platter and steak souvlaki platter. I like how healthy and fresh the food is here. The ambience is very chill and welcoming. I've always seen this place sandwiched between Yogurtland and i-Tea but never thought to check it out until a family friend invited us here. My mom is now a huge fan. Rating Breakdown: 1.5/2 Stars for Taste -- The food here is pretty solid. The meat options are moist and tender -- I've tried the meatballs, lamb/beef souvlaki, and lamb shank. Everything is paired with their delicious and refreshing cucumber yogurt sauce. The pita is toasted on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. I thought the moussaka and the mahi mahi were just alright, I've had better. The lemon rice soup can be skipped. My mom is a huge fan of the babaganoush but I think you can put anything on this crack pita and it would taste delicious. Oh, and the Greek fries! Definitely try them, but they can be a bit on the salty side so you might want to share. MIGHT. For dessert, grab an order of loukamades -- fried balls of dough in honey and powdered sugar. What's not to like? .5/1 Stars for Value -- You can easily spend around $15-20 per person here, without a beverage, but you will leave stuffed. A little steep for a place with little to no service -- in short, not a steal but not robbery either. Most plates come with the option of two sides: soup, salad, rice, or fries. Gyro meat was on the mushier side but the meat was marinated well? Salad, nothing really outstanding in terms of taste or appearance. Salad is not well diced- so in large chunks. Vegetables not in the freshest state as they were starting to brown along the edges. meh. Fries looked like they were fried previously and left out to cold then refried to serve to the next customer- me. Uneven browning on the fries and they were abnormally harder than your usual fresh fries that might have some crunch. Sat outside but really disgusting- makes me question the boba place and yogurt land next door in terms of sanitation because I saw flies and fruit flies buzzing around. Really gross as some of it landed/crawled on my food. PLEASEEEE if you are going to have outdoor seating. PLEASE maintain it so it isn't infested or mini swarming with insects. Gross. Outdoor seating isn't cared about tbh because I had to ask them to unlock the stacked chairs and they gave me one. I went and asked for another and the guy who was tasked to give me a chair looked thoroughly annoyed even though the restaurant didn't look that busy. oh well. I have been to Mikonos Grill a few times, but this will be first review for it. Overall, this place is a great place to feed your greek cravings. I had the chicken souvlaki plate with soup and salad. Their chicken lemon soup is a bit watered down with small shreds of chicken and bits of rice (add salt and pepper to taste). However, despite that, I still enjoyed the simple taste and it was a great start to the meal. The salad was nice and fresh with chunks of tomato and cucumbers, onions, olives, and a heap of yummy feta cheese. It was a great compliment to the intense flavor of the chicken souvlaki. Although a bit dry, I thought the chicken souvlaki was amazing and flavorful. It had great grill marks and it tasted even better when dipped in the tzatziki sauce (greek yogurt w/cucumber, lemon, and dill). This tzatziki sauce was paired even well with the pita bread, which was fluffy and the taste was so addicting that I would have wanted more. I would definitely come back to this place whenever I want to eat greek food. read more

It was a cute place and the service was good, so it certainly has something going for it. My boyfriend did enjoy his lamb gyro. The fries were average, but I was not happy with my chicken gyro. The chicken tasted overdone, the tzatziki sauce was overpowering with cucumber after already being disappointed that it wasn't the Greek honey mustard I've had at the last three Greek restaurants I've been to. It didn't help that the menu didn't list any ingredients as to warn me of something like that. Not everyone puts the exact same thing in their recipes after all. read more

Oh my gosh! This is by far one of the best Mediterranean restaurant I've been to. The food is fresh and delicious! I had the meatball plate. It cane with soft warm pita bread, a cucumber yogurt dip, rice, Greek salad, and four big Greek meatballs that were grilled to perfection. How did they maintain the moisture in these ground meat meatballs? I wanted a little bit of soup but did not really want the whole order of small soup. They gave me a cup of it on the house. It was a rice lemon chicken soup. Smooth, flavorful with a hint of herbs, lemon, in chicken broth with just the right amount of fluffy rice. Oh my gosh! If I lived here in Milpitas, I'd order a full order to take home. I wish we have this restaurant in San Diego! The service was incredible- friendly, fast, clean, and hospitable! Been here several times and never had a problem. The food is great and they are quick to serve. I usually get the Gyro Plate. It comes with a choice of 2 side (fries, rice, soup or Greek salad) for 10.99. A great deal I love the rice, soup and the Greek salad. Can't go wrong with any combo of the 3. Not sure about the fries, never had them, but the look line standard frozen ready to fry fries. The Greek salad has a great dressing with feta crumbles, red onion, cucumbers, tomatoes, green bell peppers, calamata olives. Soup is lemon chicken, and once you add a little salt it is really good Rice has a good flavor and cooked just right, nice'n fluffy. Don't forget to use the 2 table condiments, a house made hot sauce and yogurt sauce, both really good Someday I'll try some other items, but the Gyro is so good I haven't. Mikonos is my favorite Mediterranean/Greek spot!! My wife and I have been coming here for years, this was actually one of our first date nights. The service is always great and the staff is friendly. Parking can be a little hit or miss sometimes so we usually order ahead and take it to go. Mikonos is a very simple restaurant you stand in line to place your order, pay and have a seat. Which is SO nice when you want to have dinner with a bunch of people, you do not have to worry about getting stuck with the bill! I love these style of restaurants. There are a couple of TVs and they serve beer and wine so its nice to come with a group of friends and catch up. My wife likes to try new things on the menu, which she has given all her dishes pretty good reviews. She also likes that Mikonos has a lengthy selection for whatever food mood you are in. I'm a bit more of a creature of habit and I have my go to dishes: Chicken and/or Steak Souvlaki plate (my fav!) and the Gyros by itself or if I'm really feeling like a fat girl I'll order the Gyros Plate with the Greek Fries (although I'm not a huge feta fan, they're awesome!) The portions are pretty hefty, which we love. My wife says they are a little pricey but in comparison to other places, the portions and quality makes it worth it. I think what seals the deal for me is their sauces!! We are "condiment whores" so the combination of their Tzatziki Sauce, salad dressing and their hot sauce....OMG SO GOOD! My wife actually hates when she has to pick up the food because I always ask her to ask for extra extra sauce lol On average, we usually spend about $40'ish...maybe $50: 2 entrees and an appetizer or 2 (not to mention my wife loves seafood so she's usually the more expensive eater in the relationship lol) I would definitely recommend Mikonos, you will not be disappointed! read more
