The food was very good here and very prompt. They made it actually spicy when asked, their onion garlic naan and spinach naan was good, and the lentil soup was ok but small. The price was very reasonable and we got multiple dishes. Very fair place with good food.

My friend and I came here on a Saturday and enjoyed the lunch buffet, which is just $8, the cheapest I've ever had to pay for an Indian lunch buffet. Some of the items in the buffet included saag, butter chicken, chana masala, samosas, pakoras. Even though it was $8, this buffet is definitely on par with other Indian lunch buffets that are a couple of dollars more expensive. Also, not every Indian buffet has samosas, so it was a plus that Wild Cook's did. They also bring you a plate of salad and then some sweet rice pudding for after your meal. Really good value overall for a lunch buffet. Outside there is a parking lot, which is kind of small, but there were several open spots when we went. As somebody who once ate at the old India Mahal, all I can say is thank you for putting a new restaurant in that space! I have some friends who liked it but it was a pretty poor excuse for Indian eats IMO. Enter Wild Cook's Indian Grill. The space has been freshened up a bit but it's still a bit old-school. Young staff in t-shirts (pretty sure they are State students) handle the dining room. Our visit was for brunch and for $8.50 it wasn't bad. Tried the butter chicken, tandoori chicken, some saag and more. Everything was reasonably well done but definitely under-seasoned. The naan was a bit under-cooked but you know what? For the price I really can't complain. There were 10 to 12 choices on the buffet and that's plenty enough for lunch! And the basic taste was there so who's to complain? Here's to Wild Cook's Indian Grill taking a step forward from the old India Mahal! There's still some work to be done but you're headed in the right direction...

I set that aside and tried to avoid the moisture on the napkin my silverware was wrapped in. When I went to get food, most of it was covered which I guess is good, but to get to the food, it was awkward balancing the covers or having to place them on another covered tray to be able to serve myself. When I compare the food and environment here to other places that offer Indian cuisine buffets, for the $20 with tax I'd rather go to Kabab and Curry not too far from here on Hillsborough St. There is more food available, it is fresher, the environment overall seems more hygienic and well-organized, and the food has better flavor and seems less greasy at Kabab and Curry. The only difference is having to pay for parking or parking a bit further away for a free spot--but for what you pay at Curry Club and they only offer buffet over the weekend, Kabab and Curry is better and offers more value and is where I will probably go from now on. The only way Curry Club's buffet would make sense is if they brought the price down. I'd put their food quality about on par with China Queen's weekday Chinese buffet, but China Queen has the better sense to charge less for the quality and experience they offer their customers. If you're already in the plaza and it's convenient to drop in over the weekend, give Curry Club a try, but if you can make it a little further north, Kabab and Curry is the better place. It is worth noting that Curry Club has interesting theme days and specials that may offer more value and culinary enjoyment than what I was able to experience while I was there including weekend breakfast combos, and weeknight dosa, biryani, and rice deals. They also have momos and spring rolls that look delicious (though I can't vouch yet). They stock authentic items like frozen Shahi Kulfi (not included in the buffet), and beverages like Delhi Darling, Thumsup, and Limca. If I go back, it'll be to sample dosas at Dosa Night or see what I think about the momos and spring rolls. I'll update when and if I find out and get to sample more.

"Nepalese and Indian food in downtown Raleigh, near Marriott"…read more With a great location, this is VERY close to the Raleigh Convention Center. We arrived on a Thursday night at 6pm with a group of 5. The dining area didn't really accommodate a group that size, but they made it work by moving tables around, which was nice. The place was not very large, but there was maybe only one other family eating inside. The bathroom was clean. I split two dishes with my son-- salmon tikka masala and shrimp (prawn) saag, both coming with rice. We were given some papadum, I think, as a snack as we waited on the food, along with some spicy dips. Food came in maybe 10 minutes or so, which was great timing. However, I have to say, both dishes we tried were underwhelming. The shrimp was oddly translucent and not very flavorful in its dish, and the spinach in the saag wasn't especially tasty (though it did have a nice spiciness). The tikka masala sauce was great, but the salmon also was pretty underwhelming. We both said we'd probably just get chicken next time and not splurge the extra for the salmon. No dish was "bad", but just we expected them to be delicious and they were just OK. I'm just really surprised given how many people said this was the "best Indian" they'd had. The staff were friendly-- refilled drinks well and were good at answering questions. And the price was reasonable. Altogether, I'll give it 4 stars given the great location, good service, good price, but not 5 given the food was "just OK". Realistically, I probably wouldn't go back-- we have lots of great Indian in Durham and Chapel Hill, so I'd rather wait and get that.

It seemed quiet inside on the night that we picked up food, but it was also storming. I personally got the Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Samosas, and Garlic Naan. The Chicken Tikka Masala was really good! It had a lot of creamy sauce, the chicken was tender, and the spice level (medium) was great. I do wish it had a bit more seasoning? But still solid, especially when paired with the gigantic Garlic Naan, which also needed more of a garlicky flavor. The Vegetable Samosas were typical, but I still enjoyed them greatly. My friends got the Chicken 65 and Gobi Manchurian and they were both delicious! While I felt that the Chicken 65 was a bit drier than what I was used to, I loved the Gobi Manchurian! It had the right amount of seasoning, sauce, and spice. Overall, I would probably rate this spot a 4.5/5 stars. Really good food and decent sized portions.
