This is my go to breakfast place in town, and I often take guests here for a reasonably priced lunch. The menu is eclectic, with a combination of American diner staples and Korean and Japanese basics. The food has always been good, as has been the service. I recommend the omelettes, sweet potato fries, and grilled cheese sandwich. Veggie yakisoba is also filling. This place isn't gourmet, but the prices are fair and it has a nice atmosphere. read more

My husband and I came to Idyllwild for a weekend away. We tried this place right when we arrived and both had sandwiches. I had prime rib and husband had corned beef. They were both very good and fries were awesome! We then went back for dinner, the same waiter, super friendly and suggested the beef bulgogi. Dinner was amazing. This has become my favorite little restaurant in idyllwild...the owners son John is wonderful, even got me some bread when I came in because I was nauseous while waiting for breakfast...the omelet my mother had was fantastic and the galbi with eggs and hash browns was phenomenal, even the baked French toast had a unique and wonderful flavor...thank you mile high cafe ,I will def be returning for future visits ...plus still have to try there monthly homemade fresh sushi...can't wait read more

We had breakfast here on our last visit and had to come back for their Country Fried Steak-it is the BEST! It's crispy and light without being heavy or greasy. This is the only place I ever order this at, usually a bite or two off someone else's plate is enough, but not here- I need my own! It's the perfect breakfast portion and isn't too much. The last time we came the hash browns were so perfectly brown and crisp on both sides, and our only small disappointment was that this time we ordered both dishes with 'extra crispy hash browns' and neither were crispy and one wasn't even browned or flipped over to be cooked on the bottom. The biscuits and gravy were good and our table really enjoyed the Corned Beef & Hash (the potatoes served under this were a little under cooked); the presentation was really nice served on the hot plate. The Galbi & Eggs were also enjoyed. The service here was very friendly and welcoming, which is one of the most important things to us when dining out. Several people greeted us when we walked in the door and the servers were great. I'm sure we'll be back again on our next visit, maybe even in for lunch to try more of their Korean Food. read more

Amazing! We had breakfast... I had the ABC omelette and my fiancé had the breakfast burrito, the strawberry jam was made fresh and so yummy too. But everything that came out Around us looked and smelled amazing! You can tell that owner really cares and puts thought into the menu and food. The atmosphere - is the only positive thing of this place, music and interior are great. Other than that - just overpriced average food. We had breakfast there, the service was slow, the waiter forgot to serve us coffee. Then I had my pancakes with overripe, half black banana on top... I love this place. The breakfast is simple, delicious, and warmly offered (especially if you sit by the fire.) The staff is family and they go out of their way to see that you're well served. This morning, for example, I was slow finishing my fruit bowl. The owner approached, removed the bowl and set it on a small, clean plate, then removed the finished portion of my breakfast, just so I could enjoy the grace of a clear and ordered morning table. read more

I am in town for the weekend and I wanted to try an American style breakfast . I decided to check this place out. I had been to the red kettle the morning before. Wow!! I thought that there would not be any difference. The pancakes are super fluffy and the service is twice as better! It as if you are sitting inside a nice dinner only restaurant. I paid the same price on both restaurants (the size of food) but the food was better HERE! If you are between the red kettle and the mile high, come HERE instead. read more

We visited the Mile High Cafe this week and will not be going back. The service was not personal, the wait staff argued about what I had ordered. My daughter had a kids burger, it was over cooked and the fries soggy. I ordered a tofu rice bowl, the teriyaki was too strong and sweet, felt like from a jar. The iced coffee was stewed. read more

This is the first place I've ever eaten from an Asian menu, where there was no bottle of Sriracha (rooster sauce) anywhere in front of the kitchen. this cost it a star. I had the Beef Bento box. The meats are good, sushi rolls are ok, the soup was a bit grainy. In a place that is hard to find good food, this is the best of its range. My mother, brother & I ate at the Mile High Cafe on Dec 22nd, '12. Sorry for the late review. I believe Mom had the Smoked Salmon sandwich while Coupe had the Bleu Cheese burger & I had the Bacon Avocado burger & Sweet Potato Fries with an order of Mozzarella Cheese Sticks shared between us. The food was very good and really hit the spot. Also since it was late in the afternoon, we had our choice of tables so we took the one next to the cast iron stove. Got the restaurant 1/2 hour before their closing time....they were very accommodating,, said it was not a problem and made me feel entirely comfortable. I was traveling solo and I ordered a beer and the Maxi Melt. It was delicious! I was nervous after I ordered it, thought I should have stuck with something 'safe' like a hamburger, but I was completely happy when I got it. Sliced beef steak, not ground, mixed in with bell peppers, jalapenos and onions, grilled on sourdough with cheese and salsa inside. Crispy, slightly garlicky crust on the bread, perfect mix of meat, cheese, vegies. The French fries are lightly seasoned and crisp (and abundant!) Lots of food, I took home 1/2 the sandwich. Stumbled into this place after a 35 minute drive and am glad I did. Had a mid week breakfast special that was very nicely prepared with warm professional courteous service. There is a grand piano and about 20 tables in the place. Clean new carpet and nicely painted walls with neatly framed pictures lit by contemporary table lamps. Classical music playing on the sound system add to the pleasant experience. A little classy for spending around 12 bucks for a full breakfast coffee with tip. A nice contrast to the sometimes dusty and more rustic cafes found in the area that are also great places to stop. read more

Came here a few days ago after fishing on Hemet Lake (didn't catch anything, lol). Husband and I ordered the same thing--the patty melt and fries. Now, their menu has all kinds of yummy items, from breakfast, to udon, to burgers, Thai iced tea, and more. I have to say that these were the best patty melts EVER! The beef is cooked however you like it (we asked for medium), and the grilled onions, melty cheese, and perfectly crispy sourdough was just delish! Service was super friendly, our dog was welcome on the patio. I didn't give all 5 stars only because we happened to order the same item, and so I can't comment on more than that. This was our first stop in Idyllwild and a great introduction. I expected the typical diner/cafe food (Yah know, burgers, sandwiches, maybe a daily special or two) but I was surprised to find an array of delectable treats inside. They have the usual diner specials and few French cafe faves but turn the page and your delighted with pages of Japanese and Korean staples (Bento, Udon, Sushi). We had a great time sampling them. Great if your on your way in or out of Idyllwild for a quick lunch. read more
