Bbq pork buns // egg tarts // crab danish
    Lisa N.

Bbq baked buns and the egg tart are my faves so far! Pass on the crab danish. Nothing special. The egg tarts; however, had the perfect texture. Very custard-y, eggy, and not too sweat. The crust is flakey like a croissant. I really liked the bbq baked buns. I got to try one fresh and warm. It was honestly my fave! Great portion and fair pricing. Staff incredibly nice and the pastries are made fresh. Interior is very aesthetic. This place is located near the back of the building. I think it took over 85 degree bakery or something.

I went during soft opening. There weren't many options even at 11am, but understandable as it gets busyyy (ex. watched a lady order boxes and boxes of pastries before me). It's okay as I was still able to snag a good variety to taste. Some buns were good and some were ok. What stood out more for me was the cakes! They all looked soo good/cute. I got the mini matcha jasmine cake to try and the tea flavor was there! Not very sweet, which is good. I honestly almost didn't want to share with my bf. I wouldn't mind going back for their cakes and trying different pasties. Workers were nice and trying their best to manage the line/requests, be patient with them. There is seating available to enjoy some treats there.

I needed a birthday cake and didn't realize that Toki Bliss was having its soft opening around the same time. The staff was very sweet and patient as I decided on what flavors to get for the little cakes. The selection here is pretty good! They have big cakes (6 inches), little cakes (3 inches), and a variety of pastries. Because the cake flavors sounded intriguing, I ended up getting two flavors: Earl Grey Reverie and Matcha Harmony. Both cakes were very light and the perfect sweetness level. We didn't feel guilty having a slice of each flavor.

Very spacious interior with plenty of seating on a Thursday afternoon. We had a big party so that was good for us. Tried the BBQ pork bun ($5) which was very tasty. Also got several mini cakes ($12 each) that were unique and would probably be better in the large size for a special occasion.

Toki Bliss Pâtisserie recently had their soft opening. It's a brand new pastry shop fusing European and Asian pastries. It's located in the back of the plaza! INTERIOR Clean, minimal and bright. Pretty spacious area. PASTRIES - Croissant x2 - Pork Floss Bun - Crab Meat Bun - Egg Tart The croissant was tasty but underbaked. The bottom layer was still doughy. It's a minor technical error, so hopefully it'll be fixed by the grand opening. The crab meat was okay, nothing special. The pork floss bun was tasty, but I prefer the sweetened mayonnaise underneath the pork floss. It was piped in the center of the bun here, but the bun was pretty big, so you won't get it in every bite. The ratio is off. The egg tart wasn't good--too fluffy and inconsistent as a custard. Again, a minor technical baking error. I wanted to get a coffee or some kind of drink to go with the pastries, but it was not open yet during the soft opening. My visit and sole review of the pastries was mainly underwhelming. I'm looking forward to giving them another try once they've officially opened and ironed out all the kinks.

Assortment: crab pastry, spam and egg, garlic butter salt bread

A friend told me about this place and I tried a savory pastry from here at her house and had to stop by and try it for myself. It's a huge space that took over a former bakery chain but the space is open and large with the pastries all out on display. Someone helps you out - you just point to the pastry you want and indicate how many, which I think speeds the up process a lot! I went during their soft opening week, so there was no line. The $4/pastry price right now is unbeatable and I hope their final pricing stays near there. My favorite was the garlic butter salt bread. It is the perfect consistency, crunch, lift, and level of salt, butter, and hint of garlic. I also tried the crab pastry and I was not fully sure what to expect but it was really good. The imitation crab threw me for a loop but the actual puff pastry itself is so good and it works! I'll definitely be back to try more items! I love the Asian-inspired savory inspiration.

(Forgot to take a picture of what I got so this is a picture of what my aunt got but review will be from what I ordered ) I got the original salt bread, the garlic butter(?)/cheese(?) (? for the fact they don't have labels so I'm not sure which it was considering I tasted the garlic flavor but not much butter or cheese), and an egg tart. We came around 1:30 so it wasn't too busy and the interior is gorgeous with a decent amount of seating in my opinion. We were quick to be helped with picking out what we wanted as well. OG Salt Bread: 3/5 The bottom wasn't crunchy? And I usually tell salt bread by the hollow but buttery middle which ... this did not have. It still tasted decent but I definitely wouldn't call it salt bread. Garlic Butter(?)/Cheese(?) Salt Bread: 3/5 Same thing as what I said above but also since they didn't have labels I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be garlic butter or garlic cheese (I assume it was butter though). Egg Tart: 4/5 Decent egg tart, not my favorite though but especially for the size I think it's okay ‍

    Salt bread and seating area

Really beautifully decorated bakery with plenty of seating areas to relax and enjoy. The team was very friendly and helpful. It is currently soft opening so the menu items seem limited or evolving? I made the special trip in hopes of finally securing proper salt bread but unfortunately I was disappointed. The salt bread was fresh from the oven but ours was a bit undercooked and soggy in the middle but worst of all, it needed more butter!!!! Sadly my search for amazing salt bread will have to continue. Salt Bread 2 of 5 stars. We also got the egg tart, it wasn't too sweet and was nicely flaky. 4 of 5 stars. My parents loved the bbq pork bun - 5 stars! I also got the mini orange mousse cake; the cream was smooth and cake was moist but the orange lacked flavor - it looked better than it tasted. Soft openings are all about working out the kinks and incorporating customer feedback to improve. Hopefully this helps the owners to be successful in the competitive and demanding market. There's lots of free parking in the strip mall. There is no outside seating so not dog friendly. There's a couple benches outside where our dogs sat patiently while we watched them from inside the bakery steps away.

Croissant egg tart - unfortunately the custard curdled on the inside :(

Stopped by during soft opening to try out their pastries - around 3:30pm, there were only 3 varieties of pastries left, so definitely stop by early in the day if you want to be able to try everything. Front counter staff noted that they usually stop baking around 2ish PM each day. Croissant egg tart - $4 - 1.5/5 stars. The tart itself was quite flaky and had good separation of layers, but it could have been slightly more buttery. The custard inside was not at all smooth, and had unfortunately curdled, which really ruins an egg tart for me. The top was also not quite as caramelized as I like in a Portuguese style tart. Other reviewers seemed to have gotten a smooth egg tart, so perhaps the kitchen has some consistency issues to work through. BBQ pork bun - $5 - 3.5/5 stars - plus points for having a very generous amount of filling, and the chasiu is actually quite flavorful. It seems they tried to do a snow top crust, but it's not very crispy. The bun itself is quite standard tangzhong style, not super different than any other Asian bakery. I feel like if I was craving this, I'd get it from Koi Palace upstairs or BK Bistro in Fremont instead. Might come back once more to try the salt bread, but overall, not really worth going out of the way for.

Currently Toki Bliss is having a soft opening. If I remember it correctly, this location used to be the 85ºC bakery. The interior of this bakery is very spacious, only a few customers inside the shop when we were there. I can see they are still training their staff and they only serve very limited bakery and cake options. We bought a box full of pastries to sample and they all taste about average, nothing really amazing. Looking at the competition they need to up their game to survive the South Bay K-bakery scene.

A new bakery took over the old 85 degrees that closed down a while ago. They're still in their soft opening phase with limited bakery and cake options available. The store is spacious but quite sparse at the moment. The staff are pretty friendly and attentive, also knowledgeable about the different baked goods being offered. I opted for a regular croissant ($4) to pair with my matcha as a quick late breakfast while running errands. It was really good- super flaky, and had a nice salty, slightly sweet buttery flavor. I'd definitely get it again and try some other interesting items that were already sold out when I arrived. Excited to see what else they'll offer in the future!

    Mulberry croissant and Egg Tarts
    Michael A.

In a word: underwhelming. The mulberry croissant lacked flavor. There was no noticeable filling or mulberry taste, and the croissant itself was fairly mediocre from a texture and consistency standpoint. There are many bakeries throughout the Bay Area producing croissants with well-developed flavors that are evident both inside the pastry and on the exterior. Here, the only thing remotely mulberry-esque was the pinkish hue of the laminated layers. The egg tarts were better. However, the ratio of crust to custard felt almost 1:1. I would have preferred less crust and a more generous filling. That said, the custard itself was enjoyable--not overly sweet, with a pleasant flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I also purchased several of the small cakes as a gift for a friend's celebration. While I didn't get the opportunity to try them myself, they were beautifully decorated and visually impressive. Hopefully they tasted better than the pastries because, based on my experience with the baked goods, I felt a little nervous bringing them as a gift. From a service perspective, the staff handling the pastries appeared inexperienced. They dropped several pastries while packaging them, causing flakes and pieces to break off (as shown in the photo). There were also dropped boxes and utensils, creating an overall impression of a team that lacked coordination and efficiency. Meanwhile, the kitchen seemed to be working hard to produce more items, yet the display case was surprisingly sparse--which is part of the reason I only ended up trying two items. Hopefully things improve over time. The Bay Area has no shortage of exceptional bakeries, and the competition is strong. To stand out, a bakery needs both outstanding products and a polished customer experience. At the moment, I would recommend several more established bakeries whose offerings are considerably stronger. One final note unrelated to the bakery itself: parking in this plaza is a nightmare. Be prepared for a crowded lot shared with several popular neighboring restaurants, especially during peak hours.

I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but Toki Bliss Patisserie deserves one! I first visited after a friend recommended it. I enjoyed everything so much that I couldn't stop thinking about it--and went back again today. Between our two visits, we tried a variety of breads, egg tarts, and cakes. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. The Hong Kong-style pineapple bun instantly transported me back to Hong Kong. It had a perfectly crisp, crumbly topping with soft, fluffy bread inside. The egg tart was still warm, with a flaky crust and a rich, creamy custard filling. We also tried the durian bread, which was generously filled with real durian--so fragrant and satisfying! The staff were warm, patient, and welcoming. One gentleman, who may have been the owner, came over to greet us and personally introduced some of the pastries. The bakery itself is spacious, bright, and very clean, with plenty of seating to sit down and enjoy breakfast or afternoon tea. I'm so happy to have such a high-quality bakery close to home. First off, the place is super cute but also kind of overwhelming in the best way. There are literally walls of bread and pastries everywhere, and so many options that I didn't even know where to start. I went in planning to spend just a few bucks on Señorita bread and somehow walked out $20 deep with a whole box of stuff. I ended up trying turon, a puto sampler, a bunch of different donuts, and of course the Ube Señorita bread. Honestly, everything was so good. Like fresh fresh. The bread was still warm in my hands, which made it even better. The staff didn't really speak much English, but it honestly wasn't an issue at all. They were super patient and helpful, and still managed to explain what everything was so I could try new things. At the end, I just told one of the ladies I had $20 and wanted to try a variety, and she literally put together a whole selection for me. That was probably my favorite part. The line was kind of long, but it makes sense because the food is clearly worth it. If anything, it just reassured me I was in the right place. Overall, if you're even thinking about trying Señorita bread or just want to explore Filipino pastries, this spot is 100 percent worth it. I told my husband we had to come back on the weekend so we could stock up on buns to eat for the week. We arrived around 12:30 pm and there were a few people eating in the front restaurant area. They currently have an XLB and wonton noodle special for $8 each, and we also noticed they have different weekday specials for around $6.50. We'll definitely be back to try some of those! But today, our mission was the buns. They have a really good variety to choose from. My husband picked out 10 and then told me I should get 10 too. I went for a variety, while hubby mainly loaded up on the custard buns. The buns are a good size, and the custard buns were packed with custard! I also tried the BBQ pork bun, which wasn't bad. The pork floss bun especially brought back memories of my mom packing them in my school lunches when I was younger. There were so many other choices, hot dog with green onions, regular hot dog buns, chicken mushroom, ham and cheese, ham and corn, tuna, taro, red bean, and quite a few others. I picked up a chicken mushroom bun to try as well. I was a little sad they didn't have a plain green onion bun since that's my favorite, so I ended up going across the street to a dim sum to-go place to pick one up. Overall, you really can't beat the price and variety, especially with this special. If you like Asian bakery-style buns, this is a great place to stock up. We'll definitely be back -- next time to try some of their food specials too!

Of course husband last minute says day of birthday celebration that we need a cake. Found Izumi…read moreCakes on Yelp and was bummed at first because the soonest online reservation for a cake would be two days later. Husband called them around 11am and they said they were in the middle of making their strawberry cakes so they could add our order in for a same day pickup at 4pm. Pickup went well and the cake was so cute and it tasted great! Like the Chinese bakery strawberry cream cake with a moist sponge cake; not too sweet, just right. Might sound basic but it was done very well. Would 100% recommend. I don't know prices for cakes nowadays but I didn't feel bad paying about $60 for a cute and tasty cake (6", strawberry cream cake). I wouldn't bank on same day pickups, I might've just been very lucky they were in the middle of making their cakes but it wouldn't hurt to try calling early in the day if you're in a pinch for a solid cake. I'm very thankful for their service!

This spot is takeout-only, so don't plan on stopping by for long. Finding parking isn't difficult…read morebut might take a minute on busy days, as it shares a parking lot with the rest of a popular plaza. The store itself is easy to find as well, with a clear label outside. Walking in, it looks half-closed--their cakes are all stored in a large refrigerator, with nothing in the case on the counter. There is a sign proclaiming "takeout only" in slight disarray, and the seating is pushed to the side. That said, the service is friendly and the employees are quick to help you and show you what they have in stock for takeout. I ordered the 4" Berry Berry Light Cake for a birthday, and they were able to write a birthday message on the cake board, which I really appreciated. The cake also tasted very light and the sweetness was subtle, which I really enjoyed. The berry flavor in the sponge was a little too subtle, though. My main concern is that the cake does not fully resemble the picture they advertised online. It is missing the freeze-dried berries on top, and the berry glaze did not reach as far down the cake as was shown in the photo. Because the berry glaze is the main source of the berry flavor, this was a little disappointing. Also, the cake was not finished when I came to pick up the cake (and I was ~5 minutes late). I'm uncertain if this is for freshness or if there is another reason. Overall, I like the spot for the fresh and light cake. It's pleasantly unique compared to your standard sheet cake, and everything is rather cute. However, it may be a better idea to buy the cakes in-person to be 100% sure of what it will look like, though daily stock is definitely more limited than if you place an order online. I hope they reopen their indoor seating soon.

I love a good egg tart and malasada so was excited to try this spot since not many places offer…read morefresh malasadas! We came on a weekday around 11:30AM and quickly ordered. Each item was about $4-5 each. Service was fast and friendly Pastel de nata (4.5/5): I really enjoyed it, the crust was perfectly flaky and the egg filling was creamy! My only complaint is that there was a bit too much egg filling, compared to the crust, so the ratio was a bit off. I would come back for these! Malasadas (3/5): good sweetness but I thought the texture of it was overly thick and dense. I'm no expert but I prefer them soft and fluffy. I preferred the no filling to the sweet egg cream filling

Wow! What an absolutely disappointment. As a Portuguese…read moreperson, I grew up on Pastel de Nata or what we call from our island Cajada de Nata. I was SOOOO sad and disappointed just by the appearance of them when arriving, they were all burnt! You can't tell me they are supposed to look like this because nowhere on their website or instagram to they advertise them with black tops. I purchase Pastel de Nata quite frequently from my local bakery in San Leandro and since we were finally in San Jose, I was SO excited at the opportunity to try new ones from this "popular bakery" and I'm confused on how these sell? I ordered 13 pastel de Nata (6 traditional & the remaining a mix of all the flavors they offer) I'd hope when packing my boxes they'd attempt to throw some in there that weren't burnt from the top but the pictures speak for themselves. The burnt top ruins the taste of the pastry itself. The filling to crust ratio isn't it. Needs more custard or a slightly thinner crust. Attaching photos for reference. We also arrived at 11am (1.5 hours after they opened) and there was literally only 1 malasada left, I'm so happy it happened to be dulce de leche which I wanted and purchased it. My husband, son, and I LOVED it! That's the reason for the 1 star (although I can't give less) I'd recommend they make more Malasadas and less Pastel de Nata to keep up with the demand, a couple families walked in after me and walked right out when they realized there weren't any in stock and they genuinely taste better then the Pastel de Nata, you can tell that's where the high ratings come from and why they are popular. Overall - would recommend 1000% skipping the pastel de Nata unfortunately it does not taste anything like the ones I've had before. Not a true reflection of what it should taste/look like. We made the drive super excited to finally come and try and ignore the reviews saying it wasn't the best just to confirm they were correct.
