Tried this place on a work trip. I ordered the cheese curds (when is WI right?) and classic smash burger. Both were tasty but my only complaint is the curds and fries seemed salty to me and I'm not uber sensitive to salt. The burger was perfection though. I'd definitely go back. read more

Went here with my husband and his parents and it was amazing! The food was absolutely delicious, and it was so hard to choose just one thing to order. Also tried one of their craft cocktails and as a bartender I was not disappointed. Really love the atmosphere, too. Amazing place. The food was top notch, and the server (Alex) was very friendly and knowledgeable. Favorites included the brisket Mac-n-cheese, the French dip, the burgers, and the cheese curds. Visiting Appleton for an eye surgery is never fun, but after the procedure the next day my girlfriend and I made a visit. The open and inviting ambiance set me at ease. She started with the habanero tincture infused vodka Bloody mary with the Surly furious IPA chase (nirvana). The two of us shared the "An OK burger" an Oklahoma onion smashed wagyu burger and award winning four cheese brisket Mac n cheese. Both were out of this world. Along with a side of the best tater tots I've ever tasted. Alex was our sever, not only was he knowledgeable on the menu, but food in general. His quick wit and personality gave us the full dining experience- ask for Alex to evaluate yours! We frequent Appleton, and would rate higher if possible. We found our new go-to eatery. GET HERE!! I know all restaurants say they have great smash burgers but Mill City really does!! Tator tots are yummy and ready be me of potato oles from Taco John's and are better without ketchup to capture the seasoning. They have gluten free buns, a GF beer, and even a GF dessert option. Ambiance - fantastic. Service - outstanding. Food - ... a bit more bland than I was expecting, unfortunately. I've heard rave reviews from friends, coworkers, etc. about this place, so I was really excited to try it out. We ordered/shared the cheese curds, street corn tots (added smoked pork), and the Korean chicken sandwich with fries. The seasoning on the tots and fries was quite tasty, and the smoke on the pork was strong (in a great way)... but otherwise, nothing strong flavor-wise. The chicken sandwich had spice, but again, not a strong flavor profile. I know the midwest is pegged as being just salt-and-pepper "bland", and this was just one step above... so I can understand why some people really like it. I'm very much someone who loves STRONG, diverse flavors, and I'll probably be back to try the burgers (hopefully more flavor!). read more

The atmosphere was chill and hipster, the staff was attentive and professional. The street corn tater tots are so worth it! I'm a big Elote fan and this definitely fills the job! This place is a gem. Ordered some craft cocktails which were amazing. Started with mussels and frites which we substituted instead of tots. They were some of the best mussels I've ever had. Then we both ordered a the burger and the Korean fried chicken. Maybe too much bacon jam but it was still delicious and the chicken sandwich was pretty good but not excellent. But overall we will definitely be going back. The atmosphere was awesome and the waitstaff killed it. read more

Super cute ambiance. Very well decorated. I came in for lunch and had a burger with wine. I LOVED the beer handles for the beer on tap (antlers). Nice touch on the ceiling as well with the open drop ceiling with metal focal pieces. The bartender and staff were very attentive and nice. Super rare to find that these days. The food was awesome! Good portions, I could tell the ingredients were fresh and they paid attention to details. Fun, friendly staff in a well decorated nice ambiance place with good food. Highly recommend. We are attending the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin but stayed in Appleton, Wisconsin. We were last here two years ago and dined at the newly opened Mill City Public House. We remembered the food and service being exceptional and were hoping to return this visit. I am pleased to say that we found the same great food and service. The table shared an order of loaded Mexican street corn tots and they were fabulous. There are a variety of burgers to choose from and we had the black and bleu burger which was very tasty. And my issue was that I asked for a classic smash burger, no pickles or onions and sauce on the side. Pretty simple. Pretty standard issue request. She responded by saying that I would be better off ordering a build my own burger and just adding cheese and sauce in the side. Ok. What I did not know, and I do not recall seeing any of the discussion of a byo burger on the menu, was that this approach cost MORE for the basic burger AND they upcharged me on the sauce. Mill city was an unexpected surprise. The food was EXCELLENT and the service equally as Superior. I tried the Kimchi Fries, which were FABULOUS. The burger which I tried was equally tasty. This is not an average place to eat. Not the same bland offering found all around town. If you are looking for a great place to eat with a very attentive staff and a solid menu, this must be on your list of restaurants to enjoy. Love this place! So much thought and intention in the balance of the food and drink here! Smell of the smoker as you walk in tells you you're in for some epic food! I went light tonight and got the arugula salad with blackened salmon. The apple and pickled onion is perfect and doesn't overwhelm the salad. Husband got the brisket mac and cheese that was featured. He loved the cheese flavor without it being overdone. Brisket had amazing flavor. Son got the spicy Korean chicken sandwich. Great flavor was a bit spicy for him but if you love spicy it's a great pick! On the way put Alex saw me eyeing up the lemon balm plant and he bagged up half for me to take home and plant! Appetizers packed full of unique flavor combinations (make sure to ask for the daily special... ours... think miso brussel sprouts!!) I was surprised by the char on the buns for the burgers... but watch out, it elevates the flavor of the burger. We had the bacon jam burger and the mushroom and Swiss burger.
