It makes a big difference, to have competent and experienced employees. Have gone through them at the old house, and got their flooring for the condo now. The staff here are friendly, honest, and responsible. Yes maybe you'll save a bit at Home Depot or other big box places, but I think the little extra was worth it. Flooring in your house is an investment. You want something you'll like, but also it can enhance what you have at selling time. My last flooring from them, was bought and installed in a week. This was great, as my sons asthma wasn't helped by carpets. I look forward to the day that carpets no longer exist, as wood flooring is easier to maintain. Also it looks better. They have a lot of options. To their credit they have a lot of expertise, so I hope you'll at least give them a chance. read more

We found Mill Direct through Costco. Do you absolutely hate your furniture and you don't mind that it gets destroyed when the installers come to lay your carpet? We had three pieces of furniture damaged when they came to install our carpet. My night stand ended up with a huge scratch. My dresser had a scratch as well and my daughter's dress had a chunk of wood missing from it. When I contacted Andy he came out the next business day and looked at it and said he was going to contact his furniture repair guy. It had taken over a week to hear back from Andy. The carpet looks fine. We also had no problem when they did our hardwood install but there was not furniture to move. But really? Three pieces of furniture and our master bedroom furniture was pretty new. In the end they sent a furniture repair guy out. It looks okay but I can still tell where the damage was done. read more

I was connected with Mill Direct Flooring through Costco. Andy was a pleasure to work with. He responded quickly to my emails and never pressured or up sold any additional products. I had a chance to stop by to pick up the sample options book and I was blown away with their showroom! 2 installers arrived around 10 am and completed the job at 3 pm for 3 bedrooms and closets (quicker than we were quoted). We did a brief walk-thru and installers quickly went to work. They moved large pieces of furniture. We had a 2 bed frames that we couldn't disassemble quickly and they were able to work around them. Ok - this went from good to horrible super fast. The sales team was initially great. We found them via Costco, and went to see if they would honor the Costco pricing and specials, which they said they would. Then they came out to measure our space for the new floors, and the sales rep was polite, however after getting 3 measurements from competitors (all of which had the same square footage estimate of Hardwood flooring needed along with "spare" material - usually 10% more) this one wanted to order more for extra stock in case of issues. We said thats fine. We had SEVERAL boxes of hardwood flooring at the end unopened and that was taken back to the company and not refunded to us. Apparently thats "normal". Anyway, the install team they used was a complete mess.... They promised us the best crew whom are their own employees with 20+ years of experience, however that didn't happen. The installers cut corners, damaged existing walls, baseboards, and even dented our brand new refrigerator during the installation of the flooring. A dent in stainless steel is not fixable. Along with this, what should have been a 3 day job, took over 8 days (they dont do weekends, and we can't use our space until its done, so that part was a bummer), because the crew was over booked and went from 6 people on day 1 & 2, to 2 people for the remainder of the time. We had mismatched transition pieces (used the wrong stain), and required numerous calls back over a 4 month period after installation of the flooring due to poor installation. It was a battle to get them to come out and do repairs, and eventually I had to find someone else to fix their mess. I'm really not picky about these things, but I felt like they were learning on the job, with my home as the training ground. Find another company to use! read more

Outstanding! Our realtor (Lynn Hoover, who is also amazing) recommended Mill Direct. They did a high-quality installation on all three floors, and they did it for a reasonable price. We couldn't ask for anything more. We should not have waited until selling our house to replace the carpet because new carpeting makes a world of difference. The new padding under the carpet makes it feel like you are walking on a cloud. Great customer service, and they were flexible during a pandemic situation and our crazy schedule as we prepared to sell our house. We are recommending them to all our friends. read more

I found Mill Direct through Costco. I have wanted to do my floors for years and Mike Mason made the process so easy. He was very professional, courteous and informative. After many trips to the store picking up samples to try out at home, I finally made my decision. Every time I went to the store, they were very accommodating. Mike, Marcos, and Arnold installed my floors. The three of them were so fast yet careful with my furniture. It turned out that I didn't like the color of quarter round they partially put in but were more than willing to change it, no problem. The crew was so friendly and mission oriented. I was very comfortable having them in my house. When the project wrapped up, they cleaned up, gave me care and instruction guidance and left me with beautiful flooring. This place has the worst customer service of any carpet sales and installation store I have ever dealt with. They gave us an estimate to install carpet in a residence. One of the rooms had a leak. It look us a few months to resolve our claims with the property manager and the insurance company. Eventually the insurance company agreed to cover the cost of carpeting for one room. When we called back and asked them to break out the carpet cost for the 1 room, they said it couldn't be done. No matter how we asked them to come up with a number including remeasuring the room, they refused to do anything, so they lost the sale. We will soon be in the market to replace the second floor carpet for a single family home. They won't be getting our business for that either. read more

Scotty visted our home to measure two rooms that needed to have the flooring replaced. After, we visited the store closest to our home to pick out the actual tile and found that Scotty worked at a location nearly an hour away from our home. We were strongly encouraged to have him be our point of contact though we would only be able to communicate via email and phone. The people working in the location by our house didn't want to help with product questions seemingly because they wouldn't be given commission on the sale. After a lot of calls and emails, we received quotes and had saved up the money to have the flooring put in. When we called to schedule the job, we were advised that the quote was wrong and that now the price would be doubled. The claim was that Scotty had left one of the rooms off of the quote, though on the actual quote it listed each room and the cost. There was no working with us or attempt to make up for this time vampire of a mistake and I'm completely disappointed that we wasted time with this company. read more

Andy stopped by to show us the various samples , A very helpful, friendly and nice guy to work with. Put us at ease with his knowledge/experience and his recommendations , Andy was very patient with our questions , Did not push any products on us which we very much appreciate, We decided to do part vinyl and Andy came back with samples for Vinyl as the showroom is very far from our house and knowing DC traffic we did not want to drive there .As promised, The installers came on time on a very rainy day and did a wonderful job installing both carpet and vinyl. They moved the big/heavy furniture as well , Hauled away old nasty stuff, cleaned/vacuumed the floors, With COSTCO pricing/discounts , pricing was reasonable. Very satisfied with the outcome. Installers scratched furniture by leaving their tools on them as well as breaking some of my outdoor Christmas ornaments. Wood floor installers were also unable to replace a piece of subfloor - we had to hire someone else to do that. They barely ordered enough material to complete the job - even after telling us they ordered enough for us to keep in case we ever needed to replace some.Spoke with the owner and he told me he would call me back that day but that didn't happen either. read more

I've used Mill Direct before--twice--and like its prices, quality and service. But no longer. I just had a very unpleasant customer service experience where clearly the salesman, John, din't care about the customer. I visited the store, selected four carpet samples that I asked to be mailed to me. They were supposed to arrive by 5-7 business days. Well, 11 business days later, no samples. When I called to inquire, John said he'd check. He never called me back, so I called next day and he berated me for calling again, said the carpet company had no record of my order and he didn't know what I had wanted--nor did he have time to look up my order. Can't say enough about their consultants and installers. We have had them provide new carpeting throughout our house. They were respectful of our belongings and furniture. They left no mess. Just lovely new carpets. We had trouble with one room, the seams showed after several months. We called and the manager took care of us. Can no longer tell where the seam is. read more

I had a poor experience with Mill Direct, especially Andy. Andy is dishonest and does not communicate during the process. He cancelled my install without telling me. My wife took the day off and no one showed. He indicated that if there was flooring left over, we would not be billed for it or the install cost associated with it. According to the less than helpful Owner, John Gill, this is a lie. Andy then charged my credit card without authorization, which is illegal. Andy had no way of knowing how I wanted to pay the balance. The owner claimed the contract was COD, however it does not indicate that. If you want to be sold by someone who doesn't know his product or the appropriate way to handle your financial info, will lie to you and accuse you of wrong doing, and is owned by someone who seems to care less about these issues...then this is the company for you. Dishonest. Potentially unlawful. I'd give negative stars if possible. I will update later once I see how the install and flooring product performs. Hopefully better than Mill Direct. UPDATE: these petty jackasses billed my cc for more than the balance. I guess they are charging interest on the two days it took for me to speak with the owner about their unlawful, unauthorized cc charges. How small can you be??? I'm sure it was at the direction of the piss poor owner, John Gill. Trust me...go somewhere else for your flooring needs. These guys SUCK! read more

These folks were stellar from start to finish. Their installers were the best. There were a few small challenges with the estimator missing an appointment, but all of the materials, workmanship and price were well worth their weight in gold. I would go back to this place in a heart beat. read more
