Loved the ambiance as well, can speak freely without the worry of possibly being too loud. The food was also amazing! Went with the lobster roll and the salmon scampi. The salmon scampi was by far my favorite and would recommend every time. The only negative that I came across was the parking situation. Parking is very limited at the Mill House due to the small parking lot and a few spots being reserved. We had lunch at Mill House Brewing Company after spending the morning at the Walkway over the Hudson. It's about less than a 10 minute from the parking lot close to the Poughkeepsie Railway Station. Now that indoor dining is open, we were seated inside and they did a great job of making us feel comfortable. Next, GET THE BUFFALO BRUSSEL SPROUTS!!!! Happy hour until 6 Monday through Saturday- $2 off beers, $20 bottles, reduced prices apps, etc... They have my favorite thing ever- sour beers!!! The blackberry sour was so fantastic, also enjoyed the velvet panda stout. They didn't have my usual favorite (cucumber) but I was glad I was forced to try new things! I visited Mill House Brewing Company on Saturday afternoon. I was visiting the Poughkeepsie area for the day so I could cycle the Rail Trail. I thought it would be fun to stop and visit some area breweries on my return trip. Fourth stop of the day: Mill House Brewing Company. It's located in a great spot in downtown Poughkeepsie. It's a historical Mill House that dates back to the early 19th Century. Multiple restaurants have called the old Mill House home over the years, but the current brewpub has called it home since 2013. I ordered a taster flight of the four different IPAs and a fruited sour. Their pizza menu looked amazing so I ordered the 'Fig and Pig'. My favorite beer was the "Everything's Coming Up: Pineapple" - a hazy New England IPA brewed with pineapple. My pizza paired nicely with the brews. It featured smoked mozzarella, housemade duck bacon, black mission figs, arugula, and aged balsamic. It was just heavenly! My server remarked, "That one is my favorite". Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish. I was a little full from a pizza that I polished off at an earlier brewery stop, so I boxed my last few slices for the ride home. After finishing my pizza and beer, I packed my leftovers into my saddlebag, and I was on my way. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I would visit again if I'm in the area again. read more

I was there with my family and some friends for lunch, to celebrate a birthday. As an entree, I ordered the pastrami Reuben sandwich. Before ordering it, I asked if the rye bread was seeded. I made it very clear that I did not like caraway (the seeds used in "seeded" rye bread). I was told there are no seeds in the bread. I took one bite and realized there were seeds in the bread. I brought it to the waiter's attention. He was barely apologetic and made no offer to correct the situation. I did not push the matter because I did not want to wait (or delay my family's meal) the 10-15 minutes it would take to replace my entree. I used extra mustard to cover the taste of the seeds. My spouse ordered the cheesecake with blueberries for dessert. My spouse asked if the blueberries were IN the cheesecake or if they would be added on top as a compote or sauce. We were told it would be a sauce ON the cheesecake. When the dessert arrive, there were blueberries IN the cheesecake and nothing on top. The uninformed/misinformed staff aside, the food was palatable, but unremarkable. MHBC may be acceptable for a casual meal out, but it was not worth the hype. Came in at 5pm on a Saturday and the space was full but not overwhelmingly loud thanks to high ceiling and well designed table and booth placement. Excellent beer and craft cocktail selection. This was our first time here ( for lunch) as our son got us a gift certificate for Christmas but it will not be our last! When entering the restaurant we. Price all the beautiful wood work and exposed brick which was truly breath taking , we were also greeted promptly and very friendly by the staff, seated quickly and helped by our server. We ordered the drunken shrimp & bacon wrapped scallops as appetizers which were delicious and served quickly. Next we ordered the fish and chips which was huge! And the flank steak both which were were very very delicious plentiful. We got the cookie dough Sunday for two for desert which was really yummy and also very big . Go here and get a beer flight, you will not be disappointed. An interesting one they usually have is the cucumber beer. I also love all of the food here. It's true... the chicken and waffles are very good. The spices in the chicken breading is to die for... not the normal southern fried. Waffle has a sriracha maple syrup which is a definite complement. The special bacon egg and cheese pizza with spices from an everything bagel. Excellent. Also. If I sound hyperbolic to you, you haven't been here and need to try this place out - or the majority of your taste buds have already died. The menu changes every few weeks, depending on the season. While most of the menu sounds like meals you've had before elsewhere, no other place puts as much love and thought into their preparation as Mill House. I've had pretzels with cheese and mustard at many places; Mill House does them best. My partner has had mussels at several other places; Mill House does them best. "And that's all I have to say about that." If their beer menu looks overwhelming, get a flight! Absolutely adorable and best way to sample 5 different beers in one order. The cocktails are all hit and no miss as well; at least 1 for every liquor (gin, vodka, bourbon, tequila) lover out there. Do yourself a favor and stop by. Unless you're dead inside, you shouldn't regret it even one iota. I make trips up from NYC just to eat here. Worth it. One more thing: Walkway Over the Hudson is basically around the corner. Parking lot included (free for now). Great to either buildup an appetite or walk dinner off. We were staying in the area and wanted a nice casual restaurant for dinner where we could sample some local brews. I made reservations via OpenTable and was I happy I did. The weather was unseasonably warm and the restaurant was packed. They were sold out of a few entrees and one of the draft beers. The sour beer I had was excellent. M enjoyed the stout. We were greeted and seated quickly, although our table was in a cramped spot. It was OK, understanding how busy they were but still we felt a bit cramped. Our waitress was friendly enough. We both ordered beers which came out quickly and our entrees soon followed. I had the mussels and fries which was amazing. I would come back just for this meal alone! The husband had a pulled pork sandwich, it was good but came with homemade potato chips instead of fries. The chips were ok, but afterwards he said he would have subbed out the chips for fries next time. This is a huge restaurant and bar so no wonder it is so popular. Second time visiting and again a great experience. We had a baseball tourney last weekend of June and parents and team had some time to kill between games. Food service and experience were excellent all around. We had a large group and we thank the manager for finding us all a spot on the outdoor upstairs patio. Simone was a server. She was terrific. I then called the next day, person wouldn't get on the phone, I was advised to complete an Event request on their website. Again this was just 20 people going to dinner. I never received a response. Two days later still nothing. I then sent a comment on their website and Danielle responded they are all booked up. You waited 3 days to tell me that? Great food! We had ordered Drunken Shrimp and Chicken Parm Meatballs for apps. The shrimp was amazing with a slight kick but very tasty! They accidentally put order in for the poutine instead of the meatballs but we kept the poutine because we have had it previously and it was very good. My son had the French Dip Sandwich which is great! I tried the Prime Rib which was pretty tasty but not the best I've ever had and not really worth the price. The shoestring fries are great. The desserts were amazing! I loved the bread pudding and my son loved the butter cake. They were both terrific but I hope they add the bread pudding to the permanent menu! read more

My wife and I met her sister at Mill House for brunch. Her sister frequents Mill House and gave high marks for the brunch. We arrived shortly after they opened and were able to get seated right away. The restaurant got crowded very fast so I suggest getting there early. The waiter was great and the brunch menu was very robust. We ordered Sangria, lobster crepes', and bacon candied pancakes. My sister-in-law ordered a club sandwich and pancakes. The food was good and I recommend giving this place a try. We enjoyed the food so much we took a pizza home with us. read more
