We went on Mother's Day and the place was hopping and had a lot of tables were being held for reservations. I'm not sure how their system works, but it seemed pretty off when we were there. Waited over 45 minutes when we were told 15-20. Our food took awhile to come out as well. Definitely a very basic breakfast, nothing felt special. But the corned beef hash from a can, the hasbrowns from freeze dried, the biscuits hine made but poorly (dense), and the gravy from a mix. Oh and they charge $3.50 for a side of that package gravy. Came here for brunch. This place has a really cute country like vibe & very cute decor inside! Servers were very friendly, but, even tho they weren't very busy, they seemed to take a very long time! I think we were waiting for a good 40 mins or so before bringing out our food. When we finally did get our food, it was pretty good but could've been a little warmer. This was our first visit since we've moved to Tucson. Overall, I would say it was a pretty good experience. The ambience of the place is very cute. It has a lot of old style decor and it has this old pancake house. Feel to it like a place you would find in the Midwest. The staff was very friendly and took our order promptly. The coffee was not good so I absolutely do not recommend drinking any of their coffee. The apricot crêpe was good however I felt the crêpe was a little too thin and dry, so I was really using a lot of the apricot sauce to help moist in it. The biscuits and gravy were good however I felt the gravy was a little too thick, but that's just personal preference. The pancakes were absolutely delicious. I opted for Bacon Pancakes with my scrambled eggs and bacon, while my daughter tried the buckwheat waffles. We had little pitchers of maple syrup and their house specialty - Butter Syrup, yup buttery butter syrup! We recently move back to Tucson and Santa Fe. We'd patronized Millie's in a previous location before and wanted to try again. We did for breakfast this morning. Me = Meat Lovers omelette, fruit, toast and coffee. My wife = country breakfast - fried eggs, bacon, toast and tea. We were very pleased with location, its ambiance, the servers, how promptly our meal was served, and the presentation and quality of the food. The only negative was that the bacon was undercooked and not at all crisp - but that is easily resolved by being sure to ask for crisp bacon next time (which there certainly will be!). Food was the most okayest bland tasting thing I've had. IHOP and Dennys have tastier omelettes. (Genuinely being serious.) The hash browns were microwaved yet still served cold. (I can tell by the sogginess and the bland no salt taste.) No ones omelettes had cheese either. At least 3 people's orders were wrong to some degree, with either items missed, or incorrect items. It took us 1.5 hours to get our food. Half our party had to leave to get to other things before they got their food because of how long it took. The restaurant was not full either. Waters were not refilled much. We had to ask for ice because they kept bringing warm water for us to drink. It was not great whatsoever. I'm baffled to see some people say 4-5 stars. So this really has to be the toughest review that I've done for a restaurant. It's not so much that we disliked it it was just different compared to other pancake houses. The decor reminds me of a restaurant back in Pennsylvania. I guess with a menu with potato pancakes in German pancakes probably does it as well . My daughter got the cinnamon swirl French toast and I got the blueberry pancakes and my wife got three eggs over easy with the cinnamon swirl French toast. First time we visited Millie's Pancake Haus since they moved to Trail Dust Town from across the street. Parking was easy (it was mid morning on a weekday) all around the restaurant. They have an average menu with the usual fair and tout their "home made" items like pancakes and corned beef hash. Unfortunately, service was very slow - we sat for quite a while before a server appeared to take any of our order. Then, the order took forever to arrive. Not sure what the issue was, but not good. Maybe short staff . . . I do like the old school vibes of the restaurants including the decor all over the walls. Pricing is not too bad - right in the range of other breakfast restaurants. This place used to be a gem, but new owners must not have got the recipes or training in the kitchen. Two in our party ordered Dutch Babies, which traditionally (and at the old Millies) should be smaller versions of the German apple pancake, without the apples. What they received looked and had the consistency of custard. My potato pancakes had way too little potato and too much flour. They were flat and dry. It's a place that you really, really, really want to be good, but it just doesn't live up to its promise. First of all, the atmosphere is amazing. It's part of the Western themed development next to Golf N Stuff and the presentation is phenomenal. It gives off a Disneyland vibe in the middle of Tucson. You're excited when you arrive and sit down to eat. The inside of the restaurant is quaint with an old time feel, and there is seating outside as well. Unfortunately, that's where the good vibes ended. I ordered the bacon omelet for $10.25 which comes with a choice of toast and sides. I opted for the hash browns. The omelet has a spongy, rubbery feel to it. Not real softness. The flavor was muted, nothing really stood out and add that to the texture and it's below average overall. The hash browns were shredded, but very thin and dry. Adding salt didn't do much to overcome the dryness and overall texture. It reminded me of eating unflavored, fluffy rice. The toast wasn't done all the way so it amounted to warm bread. Next up were the pancakes. I opted for the full stack for $6.95. The portion is good, but again there was a dryness to it and the flavor was lacking. There was no real sweetness or kick to them. No amount of butter and syrup could overcome it. I was really looking forward to them so I felt disappointed. One other note....the butter. The pancakes don't come with a side of whipped butter so you use the individual packets from the table. After 3-4 packets (I cover each pancake) I had a mess on my fingers and a small mountain of wrappers on the table. I felt like I needed to wash my hands. I was really hoping to make Millie's somewhere I could treat myself for a Sunday breakfast once a month, but I just can't. They have good service and a great atmosphere and if they could just tweak the food a bit it would go a long way. Nothing was too bad to not eat, but everything was just below average. If it weren't for the atmosphere I'd consider giving it 2 stars, but to be honest it's probably worth a try to see if you can find something you like and enjoy the unique setting. read more

What a great and affordable place to come for breakfast. The service was outstanding. The banana and pecan pancakes were the favorite; full of flavor and pecans and bananas. The French toast was only mediocre. Somewhat of a disappointment. To me the orange color of the filling appeared to be almost artificial. The taste wasn't all that great either, even with the warmed pancake syrup. Next time I'll have to try something else. This gem is also open for lunch. Maybe I'll have to try that also. Compared to some of our newer/trendier breakfast restaurants Millie's is just good home cooking with reasonable prices, especially if you plan on bringing the family. We haven't been to Millie's in ages. So we decided to go for breakfast on Sunday. The location is unique as it's nestled in the western town of Pinnacle Peak. When we arrived they weren't very busy. We were seated and our drink ordered were taken. We ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon and pancakes. Our food came out fairly quick. To start the biscuits and gravy was a big disappointment. The biscuits were dry and bland and the gravy had a heavy flour taste and were clumpy. The eggs and bacon were okay. The pancakes were also very bland. During the meal we were constantly reminding the server that we were out of drinks and creamer. Overall I was not impressed with the food.
