This restaurant needs a lot of help or needs the Kitchen guy to come in and turn it around! No bread brought to the table, and we ordered the Pot Roast dinner. My son thought it looked like dog food from a can, it was horrible!! It literally was a plate full of gravy and they actually served it, if they were running out of food they should have said to order something different. I hate it when restaurants just want your money and care less about what your getting! The service is horrible and the food was just as bad. I'll never go back to that location! YUM! I live for brunch, and this is one of my favorites. The food is consistently good and I love their breakfast menu. Seriously, it's the only thing I order from. My hubby and I usually get it delivered on DoorDash, but I think it has since been removed, so we just went in person today. We were sat immediately and greeted by Madelaine, who was courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. I'm a creature of habit, so I ordered the traditional eggs benedict. Mmmmmm sooooo good! Buttery English muffins topped with perfectly salty, thick cut ham, the perfectly poached eggs, then slathered in hollandaise sauce. It's perfection. I also ordered their seasonal pumpkin cream muffin. It was steaming hot, fresh out of the oven. Lovely flavor and I appreciated that the cream cheese wasn't overly sweet. My hot chocolate had a pound of whipped cream, which my pregnant self of course loved. It was a tad bit sweet, but with how cold it was in the restaurant paired with the rainy weather outside, it was nice overall. Now let's talk about my husband. He usually rolls his eyes when I say I want brunch, but he's a good sport. This is the ONLY restaurant he doesn't complain about going to. He ordered the pain Purdue brioche French toast, a side of corned beef hash (YUM), and two eggs with pork sausage. Yeah, his was really good. I loved the cream cheese + orange marmalade stuffed into the French toast. His triple berry mimosa looked delightful too, but I just had to live vicariously through him as he topped it off with the cute little individual bottle of champagne that came with it. The food is OK. To me the food is bland so it's a good neutral place for a group. The last time I was there we had trouble with the waiter. After taking our drink order he never returned on his own. We had to get the bust boy to find him. We complained and he gave us an excuse instead of apologizing. His excuse was there were only two of them to cover the section we were sitting in. It's a shame how different this one is from the others. The sweet tea is good (at $3.39 it better be) but the bread has changed. It's like a basket of hard croutons with margarine. My soup was great (corn chowder). My french quarter burger and fries were great but all in all the initial "bread" killed the whole meal. The salad tasted unwashed and The ranch for the salad tastes worse than fast food ranch. They were out of every dessert except the "parfait" which is literally just a cup of pudding. My first meal of the year and the worst meal I have ever eaten in Texas. I looked over the menu carefully and was choosing between 1of 2 crepes offered. I opted for the Swiss cheese, egg, spinach crepes topped with a creamy cheese sauce. https://www.mimiscafe.com/breakfast/ I received watery crepes with no cheese on the inside and barely any sauce on top. I showed the waitress and she took back to the kitchen. Brought my plate back and said the cook said it was right. I asked her to bring me more of the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce had already separated and was awful. I didn't eat it. I went up to the front and asked to see a menu. I looked and yes you have cheese inside the crepes. The front manager agreed it is to have cheese and offered to have them cook another one. I told her my Family was finished eating and we were paying. She told me she would tell the Manager. We leave with a sorry. I called the manager when I got home and first he said sorry and then told me it doesn't have cheese. Offers nothing. Maybe the manager needs to go over the ingredients of their dishes and the cooks should listen. Will not ever go back there and definitely do not recommend this restaurant. read more

We stopped in as we were driving through on our PCS trip, and it seemed nice. Our server seemed very nice at first, if not a little overwhelming. I thought she was just bored because the place was empty, but my hubby was a little weirded out at her obvious lack of boundaries. She took our order quickly and was nice, but then our food took forever. My iced mocha took FOREVER and it wasn't very good- I'm not sure why it was served in a Pilsner glass (or something like it?) When she finally brought our food out, she left immediately- wish she would have stuck around. I ordered the citrus salmon and it was so-so, but the sides were horrible. The spinach was gritty and flavorless, and my "steamed" veggies were saturated in butter. Gross. I had specifically asked her if they were steamed, and she said yes, but then they were soaked in butter and greasy. :( Hubby ordered a ham club sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup- it was horrible. The soup tasted like straight tomato paste that had been sitting awhile, and the sandwich had a couple pieces of processed lunch meat/ham on it, one slice of an underripe tomato, a wilted piece of lettuce, and no cheese, on greasy bread. He hardly ate any of it- it was so unappetizing (and from my reviews... it's obvious that he isn't usually very picky with food) He actually left and took the baby to the car, because our server was just nowhere to be seen at all. She finally brought the bill and I told her that we were unhappy with our food. I told her "I wish you would have come back after dropping off our food to check on us, because now it's just too late to do anything about it." And she snapped at me "Well I've been here the WHOLE TIME!" it was so weird, she just flipped. Then she said "Well let's not leave this on a bad note, I'll get you some muffins to take" and then was asking me what kinds of muffins I'd like (since we were traveling.) It was just so strange. So I thought about it for a minute after she walked away and decided to talk to the manager instead. He explained that it was his fault the sandwich didn't have cheese (but then why was it so gross...?) and he took that and the soup off our check. Nothing said about our meal or the weirdness of the server.... I was really unhappy with the experience, and to be honest, I spent the rest of the night driving reallllly hoping I didn't get food poisoning from it. They still sent us home with muffins, but we only ate one, the others were dry and gross, and one was all pushed in weird and placed upside down in the container. My husband and myself came in today to eat a fast lunch this is normal for us we visit our Mimi's at least once a week sometimes three times a week! However when we walked in we found a single server on. A young lady named shantea, she had a total of five tables including us. She was extremely short and harsh. Management was never once seen leaving this waitress unattended. It took 23 minutes to get cold food. We are from Arlington so we are used to fast service and extremely friendly wait staff with amazing food. We have learned our lesson and will NEVER BE BACK TO THIS LOCATION. We always enjoy eating at Mimi's Cafe. The price is reasonable, and they always give you a basket of assorted breads. Yum! My kids like the worm dirt (a small cup of chocolate pudding, cookie crumbs and gummy worms) Their bread pudding is spectacular. Maybe 2.5 stars! 4.5 stars for Jesse, our favorite server! Angel left and went to Bravo's. Mimi's used to be my favorite restaurant 1 year ago! They had a fabulous menu. That menu included the Light Santa Fe Omelette that was only 200 calories! A real go-to for the diet! Now I can't get it!:( the new menu does not have as much variety. The decor: they changed it. Before there was color everywhere and interesting pictures and decorative objects on the wall. Now, it is much more bland and plain. Another thing is, the severs don't seem as happy. Is it my imagination? Angel didn't seem as happy last time I was here and now she is gone. The servers used to smile and laugh as they work. Now everyone seems stressed. I think I have seen a frowny faced manager. Is it this person's fault- or has some change happened with upper management? Last year, a very sweet male manager gave me 4 free muffins and commiserated with me about our knee problems! (I was using a walker and in a knee brace at the time). It is sad. My favorite restaurant is no more. Adieu, Mimi's. Call me if you come back to your senses.:( read more

I know a lot of people aren't too happy with the changes they have made, but I actually think I prefer their new menu and new look. There were lots of entrees that caught my eye. I see the same great servers as before. While breakfast did take a little longer too cook than I expected, my eggs were cooked perfectly. So it was worth the wait. Their new coffee blew me away at first sip. I need to ask them if they sell it so I can have it at home! Muffins were still as great as ever worth the couple of bucks that you now have to pay for, but when it used to come free I always thought it was way too much food. Comfort food done very well. This place has always been a favorite of ours back home and I'm happy to see that it is consistently delicious here! I love their carrot raisin bread, their french onion soup is to DIE FOR. Yes if I had to choose a soup for my last meal, it'd be this for sure. Some of our favorite meals here have been their pot pie and roasted turkey dish; try their cranberry sauce its the perfect balance between sweet and sour with actual cranberries you can chew on. Not a bad joint, but their menu is lacking in anything definitively French. The quality is consistently good, but you can find most of these entrees at IHOP for less. That said, their soup is on point. It's rare to get a bowl of French onion soup that isn't salty as hell. Their savory chicken crepes are pretty good. Their desserts are also well done. I'm quite disappointed they don't serve, at the very least, frogs legs (this isnt lobster, for christ's sake) yet have a wide selection of trite, run-of-the-mill hamburgers on the menu.
