I've been here a couple of times recently and really enjoyed the food both times. I enjoyed the company much more on my second visit (brunch with a girlfriend) so as long as you do not take my grumpy husband with you, you too will have a good time. (No disrespect to my husband...he was just having a bad day!) Although Mimi's is not very far from our house, I had really never noticed it before I got a coupon in the mail. Shame on me! It is worth a visit even without a coupon. The muffins are wonderful, take a couple home, and the food is excellent. I had the Eggs Benedict on visit one and the Smoked Salmon Benedict on visit two. Eggs Benedict wins, but both were good. The herb roasted potatoes which come as a side are done perfectly and go dipped in the Hollandaise that might spill over onto the plate! Although another reviewer said jeans and T might make you feel underdressed, I disagree. Maybe it makes a difference if you visit on Sunday, church day, but on Saturday a.m., shorts and a T are perfectly fine. read more

Not a bad joint, but their menu is lacking in anything definitively French. The quality is consistently good, but you can find most of these entrees at IHOP for less. That said, their soup is on point. It's rare to get a bowl of French onion soup that isn't salty as hell. Their savory chicken crepes are pretty good. Their desserts are also well done. I'm quite disappointed they don't serve, at the very least, frogs legs (this isnt lobster, for christ's sake) yet have a wide selection of trite, run-of-the-mill hamburgers on the menu. what a lovely evening out! This was my first time to Mimis, but we will definitely be back. I had the coq a vin, husband had the roast turkey, and kiddo had the hamburger. All were delicious. For dessert we had bread pudding and lava cake. The bread pudding was amazing-probably the best thing i ate there. The waitress was extremely courteous and prompt. We tipped her 25on the 60$ ticket. Mimi's WAS a favorite of ours...until July 4. During breakfast, my wife disgustingly found a human hair in a bite of scrambled eggs. She wasn't able to finish her meal. We told our waitress, who said she would "report" it. Nothing. No acknowledgement, no apologies, no gesture of goodwill. I'm pretty sure the manager was told: twice she csme to our table and asked if everything was "okay". But she didn't acknowledge the "hair", didn't apologize, didn't offer any goodwill gesture (e.g., meal comped, coupon, etc.) We will now think twice about going back. Such a shame. We were really good customers. I didn't know how to "hickey" out rating so gave it a "3" instead of the usual 5. Do the Mimi's people read these reviews? read more

Mimi's used to be one of my very favorite restaurants. I drove over 50 miles to eat there as often as I could (about once a month) but the last few times I was there I noticed a subtle change in the atmosphere. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but then I learned that the restaurant was being taken over by new owners. I was very disappointed to hear it but I returned to see what if any changes had been made. I had a few favorite things on the old menu which are now gone. These things are what brought me 50 miles to get. Also my service was really bad. It's too far for me to drive when gasoline is so expensive when I cannot be sure that I will get something good to eat or if my service will be substandard. I won't be back. Cute, old timey looking restaurant with a hobbit house feel, except not tiny. It looks German or French. Cozy and quaint, not too fancy, but nicer than Ihop and old south, not over crowded or super noisy. We were seated right away in a comfortable booth. Service was great and so was the food! Went for lunch, restaurant was half empty but had to wait 15 minutes for a table. We were sat and got drinks. From there it took 40 minutes for our server to come by and tell us "I don't know why your food is taking so long" Someone in our party talked to a host and he came over and said that half our food was ready and half was not. Of the four of us we all got some combination of soup, salads and sandwiches. A wait time that long is unacceptable. We just got up and left without eating. We were all beyond upset and a manager never bothered to come over and see what was going on. We also sent a complaint to corporate but we are sure nothing will come of it. We were attracted to this restaurant because it reflected our experience in the New Orleans French Quarter. I especially enjoyed the Jambalaya Pasta, but since a French Company took over the chain, the New Orleans influence has all but disappeared. Ordered turkey, mashed potatoes, and cornbread stuffing with a delicious cranberry sauce. Much too spicy a plate for my taste. I should have tried the French Dip Sandwich. This place has a special place in my heart. My boyfriend brought me here on a date and I thought the place was absolutely adorable! The atmosphere and building is unique and it makes me forget that this place is on the side of a highway. The service was great, with our waiter checking in constantly if everything was okay. We both ordered their sandwiches, which I thought were really good, along with fresh fruit, and fries well cooked as sides.The food is plentiful, having to take the other half home. My wife and I come here probably once a month for brunch. The drinks are spot on and the food is delicious. I've eaten at this location several dozen times. I almost always get their quiche because it's the best! Not today! They brought it out and first, the crust was so dark I knew it was going to taste burnt. Then looking at the mixture in the crust was, well awful....it only came up halfway around the crust and cratered in the middle! Somebody obviously screwed the ingredients and it flattened out. The waitress took it back and shortly after the manager brought out a quiche.......but it looked just like the one I sent back it even had the same missing piece of crust!! When I questioned her she said she had just made it!! I sent it back and didn't get anything else. I always love Mimi's. They have a great menu and their food is delicious. Went there with my folks and the waitress overheard them saying it was their first visit so she gave them 2 free muffins to go. The only issue was that I think they forgot my order so everyone got their food before me however the waitress corrected it and rushed the kitchen to get my food as fast as possible - a minor mistake when it's handled properly by the staff. Another table of customers left without being served, and we left shortly after as well. We truly wanted to have our dinner tonight at Mimi's. I had the soup salad combo today. I was really looking forward to the thousand island dressing but was highly disappointed as the recipe had changed. The dressing was very runny with a strong acidic tomato taste. Please go back to your original thousand island dressing recipe. The service was very slow and our waiter was not attentive.
