I was super impressed with Mimi's today. Frankly, I've been put impressed the last 4 times I've been. True confessions... I stopped coming here years ago because I thought the food was horrible. But my husband and I have been coming here for the past eight months and I have to say I'm very impressed! We've tried lunch, dinner, and brunch today. Today, I noticed that the gentleman who was running the food was checking to see if people ate it. I mentioned to my husband that he is the type of restaurant employee that you want. Met some friends for dinner. It was not that crowded but by the lack of servers they were short staff We were approached by the manager Alan. He got our drinks, took our order. When he didn't write it down I was sure he would mess up all our orders. It did take longer than usual but being a waitress during college years I knew this was a nightmare for the staff. A few customers got up from table to find there waitress. They were upset We received our meal and Alan got it right. After traveling from Vegas, we decided on mid pm lunch at Mimi's, which was a quick on and off from the 101 and close to Mayo Hospital. It is Mother's Day, and we expected a crowd, but it was not busy at all and we were seated quickly. The server was courteous and we had our meal within about 15 to 20 minutes. Sadly, the food was awful. My husband's club sandwich was ok, but his fries were hours old. My quiche Lorraine only had a tiny fragment of bacon in one bite and was barely room temp. The crust was stale. Again...hours old and straight from a warmer. We were starving, so I ate most of it, but left with an uneasy stomach. We won't make that mistake again. read more

Terrible terrible take out experience yesterday. Placed a phone order around 4pm, no problem. When I went to pick it up the store was completely empty & I saw just one older lady working she explains to me that she is waiting on the soup cause it "spilled" all over. Sure, no problem. She comes out with the sandwiches; then a minute later comes out with the two cups of soup (with soup dripping all over the sides) & tosses them on the counter. I pay & she walks away. I'm like "can I get a bag for the soup" that's covered in French onion on all sides. She tosses me a plastic bag and walks away, wow ok thanks. I get home & realize I have the completely wrong sandwich. My husband says his burger tasted like chemicals (assuming they just cleansed the grill & didn't wash it properly) he couldn't even eat it. AND I ordered a creme brûlée & never got it. Waste of 30$ & terribly disappointed. read more

Update on review. Money for meal not provided Was deducted from my account. Per corporate instruction item wrote an email to them in detail describing what had happened. The corporate website said they would get back in 24 hours. It is been four days. I am now going to the Arizona attorney general for company who takes money and does not provide the service. read more

Family dinner on a Saturday night. Our first choice was BJ's but with a 45 minute wait we decided to skip it. Mimi's café is right across from it and had no wait time. The waitress was very nice and very helpful. But unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. I ordered the fried zucchini appetizer. The presentation and look of the dish was very lovely. But the zucchini didn't even taste as good as Carl's jr. zucchini to me. My husband did not enjoy his chicken entree either. We haven't been to Mimi's in over 5 years but today we decided to try something different. My husband had the pot pie and I had the shrimp. He would have liked the pot pie better if it was made with dark meat not white. There was so much meat he had a hard time finishing, which is great. They didn't skimp. My shrimp were tiny but the meal came with 10 and two sides. I chose the mash potatoes (yum) and green beans. It was a good meal. They offer a delicious bread basket too. This Mimi's is near the Reach11 complex where we were attending a tournament. So, afterwards, we came here. The short version is that this is just like the Mimi's in Chandler. The food is fine. Not great, but fine. The service was OK too. Everyone enjoyed their food (I had the chicken pot pie). None of it really struck me as "French", which is Mimi's motif, but it was good. In fact, the kid had chicken picatta, which is Italian. Not French. They do have quiche, so maybe that's enough to claim to be a French-like bistro??? (Not in my book, honestly.) Anyway, I'd call this place average. Really, I should give it 2.5 stars, but that's not an option with Yelp. An OK place to stop if you're in the area and looking for food. The skewered shrimp were cooked with just salt and pepper but tasted good. The sides were cole slaw and potatoes augratin.
