Went here yesterday and ordered the French onion soup that I remembered as being delicious. Well that's clearly a memory of the past. It comes to my table with the most pathetic four tiny slices of a stale baguette...dried out was a great touch ...but it gets worse. They torched to cheese to make it look like it was broiled and it was burnt. You could taste the burnt taste throughout the soup. When I told my waitress, she basically said ok, I'll let them know but didn't remove the grossness from my check. I won't be back. There's no need. Cutting corners on soup is pathetic. Originally I wanted to go to another restaurant but my husband said he's heard great things about Mimi's, so we took a chance unfortunately I can't say it was the best decision. Upon arrival no one was up front so we weren't sure if we should seat ourselves or wait. The server finally appeared and seated us we ordered and although the place looks nice their food is FAAAAAAAR from that. I ordered chicken and waffles. We both did actually with a side of potato's. We had our coffee in the mean time while we waited (coffee was the only my thing that was good). Our ordered arrived and my waffles were burned not only could we smell the food burning in the back but the actual audacity to serve what was burned was baffling. I cut into it and the waffle broke apart instantly. My husband looked at his potatoes they were also burned and very over salted but you could taste the bitterness once something has been burnt no seasoning will save it... I asked the server if she could take it back and explained it was burned she agreed and had a second plate sent. My question is how does a "Great restaurant" fuck up waffles not one but twice. The second plate the waffles were still raw in the middle and the chicken has a weird taste . We didn't bother eating. I asked for the check and the server looked at the plate still full with all the food asked "did you not like it?" I explained what the issue was and although the food was not good the server said ok don't worry about it and took the food luckily we didn't pay for this disaster of a meal so I'll give them 3 stars for customer service. I really love Mimi's café. Anyone you go to the Decour is very similar and the food is always consistent. For the fall they have an absolutely delicious pumpkin cream cheese muffin. I also like that they have a full coffee bar and make fresh espressos and cappuccinos not just plain drip coffee. They employ a very friendly staff. You are greeted when you come in and the servers are fast and attentive. I definitely recommend Mimi's for a decent meal, at a decent price, and good service read more

The last time I ate at a Mimi's cafe was probably somewhere around 1998. Yup, it's been awhile. When I went to visit some good friends in Arizona, I had the pleasure of eating breakfast here. After walking in, I instantly forgot how charming it is with the mini chandelier lights and homey feel. It almost felt like a restaurant you would see in the New Orleans section of Disneyland. Here's what I ordered: Potato Cake Eggs Benedict: Hickory-smoked bacon, spinach, tomatoes, poached eggs and Hollandaise. With fresh-cut fruit-- This was just delicious. Eggs were cooked exactly how I like them- poke them and all the yolk comes dripping out. The potato cake was almost like a hash brown and was seasoned nicely. The bacon, spinach and tomatoes were yummy too. Lemon Poppyseed Muffin: Piping hot and fresh out of the oven, I loved how I could taste the tanginess of the lemon and feel the tiny crunch of poppy seeds as I took a few bites. I think I'll definitely have to go to my own local Mimi's just for the muffins alone. read more

I don't like to leave bad reviews but in this case I feel compelled to comment on the extremely bad food we had for breakfast last week. The water had a funny smell, the fried potatoes were very spicy, the quiche was in a crust that was soggy, as were the eggs. The place looked very run down and tired. We used to frequent Mimi's in Illinois years ago and always had good food. We were surprised to see that they were still open here. I believe they are all closed in Illinois. We will never go back. $48.75 for a worse than mediocre breakfast . . . never again. read more

I really really want to give this a higher rating however, over the past two years this Mimi's location has had some serious issues in terms of customer, service and food quality. Came for a late lunch today. The host who seated us was also our waiter and we noticed that he was also bussing the tables. I realize it's difficult to find people however, this gentleman was seriously over burdened. we found the food this time to be mediocre at best. Ordered quiche Lorraine, which was basically an egg custard because it had no ham or bacon in it. A table mate ordered the Tuscan chicken with pasta, and the plate was barely warm. Mimi's used to be my go to place for breakfast lunch or dinner. So sad to see this go downhill. read more

Have eaten at this Mimi's many times over the years. Had breakfast there yesterday with an out of town visiting Great Niece prior to taking her to the airport. Big surprise. Bigger Disappointment. Entire establishment needs a remodel. Drab, dark, run hard and put to bed wet! Wood table tops badly in need of replacing or refinishing. Food: unremarkable and visually unappealing. What ever happened to GARNISH? Throwing marginally edible eggs Benedict on a plate with a side plop of luke warm to cold country potatoes is unacceptable. A simple sprig of parsley would add some presentation appeal but would not add to the quality of what was being served! What Happened, Mimi? Also, whatever happening to buttering toast before it's brought to the table? We asked for the toast to be buttered straight out of the toaster...instead it was brought cold, unbuttered with packaged butter hard as a rock. Mmmmmm? Best part of the experience? The food was bland and not very appealing. We were the first customers of the day and yet they did not have breakfast potatoes. It didn't seem like the vegetables they used in the omelette was fresh and the corn beef hash was not hash at all, it was large chunks of corn beef with onions. KJ was a fantastic waiter. He gave recommendations for the best items on the menu. I took his suggestion and substituted the plain turkey with blackened Cajun chicken and it was delicious! Ended up at Mimi's after a nice hike again... those darn coupons that are too good to pass on : ) Kendra was our server again and it was overall a good experience. I will start claiming that booth as our 'regular table'. Daughter and I had the surf and turf (with some sort of Greek salad -really good- and corn on the cob), hubby had the NY strip with frites. We also had the spinach/artichoke dip appetizer. Even with the coupon for a free entree it ended up being a hefty bill (send me more!). We had a wonderful experience at the Desert Ridge Mimi's on Jan. 15, 2024. We needed a convenient rendezvous spot for our friends and family to meet after my father's burial ceremony at the National Cemetery. About a month prior, I contacted the manager, Steven Benham, and asked if they could accommodate our group of around 20 people for brunch on that day. Steven said, "Absolutely we can, and we have a big, private room for your party, and it will be ready for you." I was very grateful for his hospitality, and this was the perfect solution for my family's need that day. No deposit was required, and they were ready for us as promised. Our server, Myra, was fantastic, friendly and efficient, easily and swiftly taking care of our party of 16, all at a huge table for 20. The quality of the food was excellent, and everyone in our party enjoyed the generous portions, as well as the boundless variety of choices available on the menu. The food was absolutely amazing once again. I had great service. We got seated quickly and served with only a short wait. This place is quiet and not busy at all. Its peaceful inside and the decor is very cute. I got peach iced tea and it was great this time and my last. I got a sandwich trio with the tomato soup and a grilled cheese. The soup is thick and creamy and perfect for dipping their AMAZING grilled cheese into. The ranch is wonderful and the fries are really good. My mom got the Tuscan Chicken and enjoyed it. I've never had a bad experience here, the food is always great, as is the service, and I like how chill this little slice of heaven is. I very highly recommend! :)) read more

It was just after 11 on a Sunday when every other restaurant had a wait with those having brunch, but at Mimi's we walked right in and were seated right away. I will say the service was very attentive and friendly which is why they got 4 stars. The food was just ok. I ordered the ham and Swiss crepe and was really looking forward to it when they came out 5 minutes after taking my order to tell me they had no potatoes. This was not a problem as I didn't even realize the crepes came with a side. They swapped out the potatoes for fresh fruit and I thought we were all set. Five minutes later someone else came out to say they were now out of crepes. I saw other people getting pancakes so I was surprised to hear they no longer had the ingredients to make crepes and I didn't understand why it took so long to figure this out but I moved on and ordered a Turkey club. The sandwich was ok but the fries definitely could have been crisper. My husband enjoyed his salad, although he said he it was nothing special but the warm blueberry muffin was yummy. Six years ago I was a regular patron of Mimi's, where I could always count on great French Onion soup and a crusty delicious French Dip Sandwich. I should have kept my memories and not returned because the quality of the food is NOT what it used to be. Another great restaurant chain crippled by COVID and unable to get back to where they were, I suppose. As others have noted here, it was VERY understaffed. Although this one man host and waiter was very polite and tried hard to please, the food quality has gone way downhill. The French Dip Sandwich was simply disgusting. Tasted like horsemeat and the bread was totally soft. French Onion Soup was very salty and did not have the cheese melted over the bowl in the classic way. Good food, terrible service! We almost never leave a review but the service was so bad we felt obligated. The restaurant wasn't too busy and they seemed to have plenty of employees, but they were always hanging out at the wait station. We ordered omelettes and muffins and were then ignored. No muffins arrived until we asked a THIRD TIME. I gave up on water refills and finally grabbed a pitcher myself. We got our muffins after our meals and the manager offered to discount the bill. When ours arrived beans were cold & uncooked. Roasted potatoes were hard & cold. It was a disaster. Complaint to customer svc resulted in no service at all. Our waiter was a bit busy with another bug table do Jesse came to us too help out and he was just so great and friendly.
