It had been a while since we came to this restaurant and I'm here to report that it's just as wonderful as it ever was! The food was outstanding. I had bouillabaisse and it was the best thing I have eaten in a long time. It has a little kick to it, which I think may have been produced by ginger. Anyhow, I enjoyed every bite of it. I would order this again in a heartbeat. The service was great. It was lunchtime and they weren't awfully busy so we were served right away and our food came in a reasonable time The ambience was fine. There was a table of guys who were all coworkers, apparently, and they were quite loud, but that was toward the end of our lunch and it didn't really bother us too much. read more

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary - a great choice for a special occasion. We had the perfect server in Buddy. She was cool, funny and chill. She checked on us often and kept us smiling. In fact, the rest of the team found a way to always be clearing plates, refilling water etc. Kudos to the team. We were prepared to splurge a little and had the dinner for two. I ordered the Le Village Sparkling Blood Orange Soda. It comes in a large reclosable bottle. I kept refilling my glass and still had half a bottle to bring home. Oh, and the sparking soda was light and delicious! Your opening dish is a choice of soup or salad but neither my husband nor I can resist French Onion Soup. We chose the haricots verts with lemon, shiitakes and almonds and the frites with smoked paprika and herbs to go with our ribeye. Everything was prepared very well. The dinner was topped off with Valrhona chocolate soufflé with chocolate sauce. While the chocolate sauce was fine I think I'd try the mint or Grand Marnier sauce next time. Zinc Bistro doesn't offer you anything for your anniversary but they did present our dessert with a sparkler which was festive of them. If you're looking for a go-to spot for French cuisine, Zinc Bistro never disappoints. It's easily one of our favorites. We recently enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the patio by the fountain, and the ambiance was absolutely perfect, relaxed and charming. We shared a cheese board, mussels, Zinc's house fries, and a crisp white wine, everything was delicious. We didn't feel rushed at all, which made it the perfect "lazy lunch" experience. In November, my niece was officially adopted and we wanted to celebrate, so my besties suggested this place. They had been before on Valentine's Day, and remarked that they were accommodating for having a little one in tow. Now they have two little ones (fostering to adopt). We made reservations to ensure we could get a table on a Friday night, and grateful they sat us on the patio as we had two under two dining with us. Our server was Frankie, and was very friendly with the kids. Though, we had mentioned that we were celebrating the oldest being officially adopted but that was not acknowledged. We didn't expect anything more than a congratulations, but that small effort would have been nice as the champagne we ordered was opened/delivered. The patio and interior is very beautiful with a French ambiance and charm. We ordered both wine with the Dinner for Two (Steak Dinner), and cocktails as a night cap with dessert. Additionally, we ordered the five fromages as I will always order cheese if dining somewhere that offers quality cheese. I'm glad they could accommodate a nut allergy. I thought it was a bit pricey in comparison to other cheese plates I've had as for $40 you usually more accompaniments or even larger slices of cheese. The Dinner for Two was delicious, though a bit more cooked than I'd like for medium rare. The flavor was there and the sides were delightful, so I definitely enjoyed it despite the overcook. I even enjoyed a friend's tuna tartare, which was a first time trying for me. Lastly, to end on a sweet note, the Dinner for Two comes with Zinc Soufflé. This was easily in my top five for best soufflé that I've had. Incredibly rich and indulgent! A definite item I'd order every time dining here, and I think the perfect size to share. The food alone will bring me back here, though I would prefer without the kiddos as it didn't feel like the most welcoming place for them. If there isn't a kid's menu, Auntie D is going to politely ask to pick another place. Though to celebrate the successful adoption of my niece, this place was an excellent choice! From sitting down to paying our check, three hours have passed so I would definitely plan when you have no other plans. My wife and I have been coming to Zinc Bistro for more than 10 years and it's where we like to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Every time we come in the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. We always book a couple of weeks in advance to secure our favorite corner booth which offers privacy and a great view of the Eiffel Tower. Aside from the great service and romantic ambiance, Zinc's food is superb! Admittedly, we have our favorites and we always start with a dozen Oysters and usually go with the server's recommendation. This time we added a caviar bump, which took this delectable appetizer to another level. For our main course, we both prefer a filet with the au poivre sauce and seared foie gras. Zinc bistro came highly recommended by one of the chefs at Sur La Table. We were in the neighborhood and decided to try it. I wasn't very impressed by the menu but we decided to split the burger and the beet salad. With one drink and a side of fries, the bill was already almost at $100. For a burger and a salad. For lunch. I'm more than happy to pay top prices for top quality meals but this didn't really hit the mark. The burger was very average and lacked flavor. I didn't taste the truffle Gruyère at all and was most looking forward to this profile. The beef tomato advertised on the menu was cut very uneven and my half had only a sliver. The beet salad was so heavily dressed I couldn't even eat it. The fries tasted like something that came frozen that they sprinkled with a pinch of chunky Parmesan. I tried their Silver Charm mocktail, asking our server first if it was very sweet, to which she replied that it was not. I had to send it back because it was sickeningly sweet. When I told her it was too sweet, she made a comment about me being too sweet. I wasn't sure if she was trying to bring light/humor to the situation or rebuttal with sarcasm. Either way, I felt kind of uncomfortable. We had an absolutely wonderful birthday brunch with amazing service, very attentive service, and absolutely delicious food! Having traveled to Paris several times, this is an authentic experience. The lunch crowd can be a bit loud, but it's because large groups of friends gathered. Don't miss the pistachio croissant as it is absolutely dreamy! I had the Croque monsieur and it was spot on! I really, really like Zinc Bistro. The decor has that French bistro feel, with fringe edged velvet curtains and globe lighting fixtures. There is a sparkle Eiffel Tower in the middle of the dining room, a couple of lovely patios. There is also a full bar, Anna's plenty of bar seating. The menu is, of course, French. There were so many good choices that if made it difficult to choose. Almost immediately, someone brought a basket of bread and butter. I ordered my regular go-to, an Amaretto Sour, and hubby got an Amstel Light. For dinner we ordered: *Ahi Tuna Steak Bordelaise with spiced peppercorn crust, bok choy, parsley, black truffle, and Bone marrow bordelaise *Cassoulet Toulousaine-- confit duck leg & thigh, white beans, foie sausage, pâté maison & fermented honey glaze *Zinc Valrhona Chocolate Souffle with chocolate sauce Everything was so delicious. The crust on the ahi was to die for, with just the perfect amount of kick. You can't find cassoulet too many places in the area, but if the cassoulet I have found, this was the best--so good! Went here for a friends birthday and it was wonderful. Ate on the early side but thankfully we had a reservation as it filled up quickly. The inside was spacious and we did not feel as though we were sitting on top of other tables around us. Our server was very good and explained the menu and specials quickly and took our drink orders. I went with the Manhattan. It was really good. For my meal I went with the steak frites and it was delicious! Steak was cooked well and paired well with the sauce. There were also a lot of fries that came with it. I also tried the braised beef cheeks and they were excellent! For dessert we split the chocolate souffle. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience. A party of 4 for a special birthday dinner and seated in the courtyard, which was a nice outdoor table setting. Susan was super nice and informative. The food was good as usual. The wine, champagne, and martini were excellent as expected. We had a feast and enjoyed it! We ordered onion soup, Prime Flat Iron, Pinot Braised Beef, roasted beet salad, steak tartare, Ahi Tuna Steak Bordelaise, seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras, Pâté Maison, Haricots Verts., and the birthday chocolate dessert was on the house. Thank you, Susan! We wished we received better service. We felt rushed throughout the dining experience. We have been here a few times, individually, and together (each one of us four). This time was a bit different, so we want to bring this up to management's attention. We learned that there was a large party going on. We wanted to be understanding; however, we were also paying customers. Susan and other staff looked overwhelmed. Our empty plates from appetizers sat for a long while, as many staff members passed by, including a lady manager. My main course came out about 25 minutes before the others. We waited for all entrees to be served at the same time. The staff brought us two glasses of wine, which was nice and efficient. She took the empty champagne flutes away and also cleared other clutter from the table. There were many staff members, but they didn't seem well coordinated. A staff delivered a Tuna Tartare to our table, and we did not accept it since we didn't order that -- we ordered Tuna Steak. These are just our observations; we have always enjoyed this place. We had a really nice experience here at Zinc Bistro. Zinc Bistro is located at Kierland Commons and makes you feel like you are eating at a romantic sidewalk cafe in Paris. They even have an Eiffel Tower display inside of the restaurant. I booked a reservation for two and we were given a basket of French bread and butter to start off with. Zinc Bistro provides a nice setting for conversation. I was on a first date and it was the perfect place to get to know someone while enjoying delicious food. The food was really good and so was the service. Zinc Bistro brings shellfish daily that includes oysters, clams, mussels and lobster. My date is a big oyster fan and really enjoyed the oysters here. I got the Herbed Potato Gnocchi as my entrée. Overall, we had a nice time drinking wine while enjoying the ambiance here at Zinc Bistro. Super busy on a Saturday but they were able to get us right in at the communal dining bar. I was impressed that the servers really worked as a team. I server was uber busy and started taking what we thought was a little longer than normal... no worries, one of the other servers noticed and immediately took our order. Well, I was supposed to have my spa day at the sanctuary today but they could not find my reservation. So rather than drive back to Chandler I thought I would drive up to Kierland and walk around a bit. I decided to stop in at the Zinc Bistro For a late breakfast. I ordered the beignets and coffee with a shot of Baileys. The beignets were terrible. When I think of beignets, I think of the beignets in New Orleans. They didn't have a lot of flavor and they were covered in cinnamon and sugar. It came with the chocolate sauce, but I just didn't care for it. My server was nice but she was a bit slow. I had to go inside and find her to ask for my check. The place had just opened so it was just myself and two other people in the restaurant. We sat down 5:55 PM and did not have our drink orders taken until 6:15. That should've given us a clue the night was going to be long. We left at about 9:20 pm. So I am not going to talk about the flavor or quality of the food because everyone talks about the food and it's very good. The only thing I'm going to refer to here is the service by our server Myra, which seemed like it was going to be nice and professional, and it sort of was except it was so slow and then we started noticing all of the things that were not happening - an apology for the slow entree service sounded like we were getting comped two glasses of wine - which weren't. So it was probably failure of communication, which kind of kept going on all night long. We wanted to order dinner, and she said she would be back - and then it was another 15 or 20 minutes before she took the orders after 7 pm. Appetizer/salads arrived, (wedge salad is definitely not worth the price given what was on the plate) and then it took forever for the entrées to come out. The kitchen must've been in the weeds. She did come out and apologize once, and then it still took quite a long time for the entrees. Probably 45 minutes. To top it all off a dessert soufflé, which needed to be ordered at the beginning of the meal, was brought out for the person who ordered it before the server took anyone else's other dessert orders. We asked for plates to share the soufflé and we said we wanted to order other desserts and then she either didn't hear us, didn't listen or just forgot to come back because the soufflé was completely consumed and another 10 minutes (?) went by until I had to go to the hostess station to find out where our server had gone. She had vanished. Then she came back with a really bad attitude because she probably had "gotten a yelling" and even smarted back "I brought the plates to share" and we said "yes, and we told you we wanted to order other desserts, and you never came back" and her eyes opened widely, and she realized she had screwed up. Then it took at least another 10 to 15 minutes after the ice cream desserts were consumed to find her to get the bill. My guess is that it is a communication problem because it is so loud in that restaurant and she probably couldn't hear us but the amount of time between her returning to the table at each service point was unacceptable and we should've been comped something, at least the desserts that were ordered at the end, after we had to find her. The food was good, some items not warm enough, and it's wildly expensive especially given the slow and less than exemplary service Maybe we will return a different day of the week and at a time when they would not be in the weeds and I would most definitely request a different server. read more

Nice French restaurant located in Kierland. The menu offers a variety of items which all sound delicious and everything we ordered was presented nicely. The ambiance is nice for either a romantic evening (even though a bit loud) or dinner with a group of friends/family. The patio was quite inviting although it was a bit cold so we sat inside. My spouse and I have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years and have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. That's why we chose to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary here--a special occasion that we were genuinely looking forward to. The evening started wonderfully. Our server was outstanding: attentive, professional, and friendly throughout the meal. We had a fantastic dining experience, with a bill of approximately $500, and happily left a $100 tip because the service truly deserved it. Unfortunately, the entire experience was overshadowed by the manager's behavior. Despite being regular patrons and celebrating an important milestone, the manager was unnecessarily rude and dismissive toward our party. The interaction was so uncomfortable and disappointing that we decided to leave without even staying for dessert, despite having already paid for it. What should have been a memorable anniversary celebration ended on a very sour note. It's especially disappointing because we've always enjoyed dining here and have recommended this restaurant to friends and family. Excellent food and service can only go so far when management treats guests with such disrespect. I sincerely hope ownership addresses this issue because no customer--especially loyal patrons celebrating a special occasion--should be made to feel unwelcome after supporting the restaurant for years. read more

Wine served at 40 minutes Got to order food at 50 minutes Cheese plate at 65 minutes Setups brought by cheese server after asking again Main courses delivered at 90 minutes, informed the souffle was starting with a 30 min lead time (it was ordered with all the food at the beginning) Souffle served at 105 minutes I complained the Manager at checkout, she initially said almost 2-hours for a dinner for 2 was within reason. The Road Back to My Parisian Sanctuary A Journey of Healing, One Plate at a Time If you're looking for a teleportation device in Scottsdale, look no further than Zinc Bistro. For years, this has been my "home base"--the place where I celebrated every birthday and where the bustle of the dining room made me feel like I'd been whisked away to the Left Bank of Paris. I have quite literally eaten my way through the entire menu, and the consistency is staggering. From the briny perfection of the Oysters to the delicate, comforting Warm Crab Crepe, every bite is a masterclass. While most people rave about the burger, my heart belongs to the Moules Marinières; there is simply no better version in the valley. And even though I am notoriously not a coffee drinker, the Chocolate Lava Cake is so decadent it practically demands a French Press on the side--the aroma alone is a core memory for me. But recently, my visits have become a different kind of journey. I moved away to escape an abusive relationship and a very broken heart. For a while, the drive felt too long, and the memories felt too heavy. I am working hard on getting better and healing my spirit, and my goal is to "retrace my steps" back to my favorite booth. I want to walk through those doors for a Sunday brunch or a Friday dinner and be able to look the wonderful staff--who have always been so kind from the bar to the table--in the eye without a single tear. I'm not usually one to go for French cuisine, but Zinc Bistro has been on my list for a while -- and I finally had the chance to try it yesterday. I'm so glad I did! From the moment we arrived, the experience was warm and welcoming. The hostess was incredibly friendly, and our waitress, Catherine, was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, sweet, and made sure our group felt taken care of the entire evening. The ambiance was absolutely beautiful -- elegant yet relaxed. I really wish it hadn't been so hot out because their outdoor area is stunning. I would've loved to sit out there, but it was just too warm. Maybe adding some misters or a few more fans would help make it more enjoyable during the hotter months, because the setting truly is lovely. As for the food -- while the menu didn't have a ton of options I'd normally go for, I decided to play it safe and ordered the tuna tartare with a side of asparagus. And WOW -- I was blown away. The tuna tartare had such a unique and delicious flavor combination, and the asparagus was cooked to absolute perfection -- just the right amount of firmness and crunch. Another small note -- the Eiffel Tower decor inside is such a beautiful and charming touch! I'd recommend clearing the area around it just a bit, so guests can take photos without distractions in the background. It's a great feature that deserves to be highlighted.
