Good brunch spot with something for everyone! Their portions were nice and big and the service was good. Our server was attentive to us the whole time and we enjoyed our visit.

What' a treat. I was skeptical about this place but it's really good. The meatloaf was soft and super flavorful and the sauce made it great. Mashes potatoes were super fresh and yummy. The green beans were fresh and yeasty. Overall what a great experience. Lives it

We LOVE Mimi's. This place is just so delicious for breakfast! The turkey dinner is a must have. They roast that meat so perfectly and the gravy is delicious. My nephew ate the French toast so fast and said it's the best he has ever had. We love coming here. OH AND THE FRENCH ONION SOUP! COME ON! I COULD EAT A WHOLE POOL OF IT. The server was amazing. And we were a larger party and were able to get a whole room to ourselves. Love this place

The food was average. My breakfast burrito consisted 75% of cheese. My husband's omelette also consisted 75% to 80% of cheese. Service was ok. The server forgot to give us back our credit card after giving us the receipt. Not sure if I would come back.

The service was great really nice server and gave great recommendation! I had the club sandwich and the blackberry margarita. I really liked the presentation of the plate and the sandwich was really good, the bacon was crispy and the bread well roasted

Attended another luncheon and the service was great for our group size. I wanted to try their Dubai pancakes, but they were out. So I ordered the Dubai muffin but again they were out. The server offered me a complementary muffin as I was disappointed, but she thanked me for being nice about it and offer me a muffin of choice . I ended up ordering the lunch trio of French onion soup, and Five way grilled cheese with french fries. The french fries were crisp and I really like the grilled cheese.

Hostess seated us promptly on our arrival. Haley came shortly after and brought us waters and menus after a warm greeting. Hubs ordered 3 chorizo tacos and I ordered the Quiche Lorraine and a small side salad with blue cheese. We were so hungry after our workouts so sorry, no pictures of our meals, lol Our food was delicious! We did however take advantage of their current offer of buying 4 muffins, following them on Instagram, and receive 4 free muffins. Yes, there are pictures of those! One other note--they serve breakfast all day. We will be back!

Me and 4 coworkers went for lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. They weren't too busy at this time. The waiter came and took our drink orders. I didn't get his name but he was funny and helpful. I ordered the Brioche Cheeseburger and it was great. The fries were great also.

We were brave and ventured out for brunch on Mother's Day weekend and were lucky to get reservations at Mimi's Cafe. We were sitted 30 minutes after our reservation time. We were understanding as it was very busy for the special holiday, but the problem was we were sat outside in a very crowded room that had no room for chairs and so loud. Our waitress had so many tables, but she was the sparkle that made the experience better. She very quickly brought drinks and our food was overall tasty. We survived but probably will not repeat the experience of dining out here on Mother's Day.

Really good food and nice wait staff. Drinks are quite strong. Food is phenomenal. We tried the peach pancakes and breakfast tacos. (I was not a fan of the sweet salsa but just ate it like it was and it was perfect) The ambiance is adorable and looks like a neighborhood inside with fake balconies and pictures of bikes and things. Bathrooms are clean, and there is a large parking lot. We also saw that they deliver close by which is wonderful for people staying in the hotel circle.

We ordered take out and our dinner was prepared timely and to our specifications. We had the salmon cooked medium with cheesy potatoes and broccoli. The French onion soup is a home run and so so good! The Asian salad was fresh and crisp. The cake is more pepper than crab and not my favorite. This place was recommended by our hotel staff, it was very accessible and had a welcoming vibe

I went here for breakfast. I decided to get the chicken and waffles. It did take a minute for me to be seated, but my server was very nice. I wasn't too happy with the chicken. It reminded me of shake and bake so I won't be returning.

Roast turkey dinner with baked potato and green beans and side order of carrot raisin Madeline's (muffin tops), delicious
    Jeff S.

Everything was delicious with my roast turkey dinner, it was fresh carved turkey breast with stuffing, cranberry sauce and my choice of two sides, I picked baked potato with butter sour cream and chives and green beans. Also splurged on an order of their carrot raisin madelines which are basically delicious muffin tops. The food was less than $20 as of fall 2025 which is a pretty good deal. For a few dollars more, I could have made it a 3 course meal with soup or salad and choice of dessert but I wasn't that hungry. Haven't eaten here for many years but decided to try it again and everything was delicious! Great service too

It's a casual spot, but the food leans more chef-driven and thoughtful. We started with the breadsticks and truffle butter simple, but really well done. The crispy portobello mushrooms were one of my favorites, super flavorful with a great texture. For drinks, I had a margarita and a bloody mary, both solid. For mains, we ordered the tri-tip sandwich (aka "Cardiff Crack") and the chicken sandwich. The tritip especially lives up to the hype really tender, packed with flavor, and easy to see why it has that nickname. Dessert is what stood out so much . The butter cake comes warm with ice cream and purée, and it was easily the highlight of the meal. I took a bite and just paused for a second it's that kind of dessert Overall, a really good spot if you want elevated comfort food in a laid back setting. I'd definitely come back, especially for that butter cake and tritip

But the atmosphere is lively, they're dog‑friendly, and the patio area is a nice place to sit if you want something casual and comfortable. Overall, a decent option if you're looking for a sit‑down American restaurant in North Park with good happy hour bites and a fun, busy vibe.

I did not have anything to eat this time but will try the food next time. KPBS was having their One Book One San Diego event here and I was interested so stopped in today check it out. I learned that over 750+ book entries were received! Wow! At my table, I ended up meeting a librarian, a teacher and a publisher. The librarian was part of the selection committee and she suggested so many good books! She mentioned a book about octopus conversation in the atolls and my ears perked up. The book is Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler and its on my shortlist to read soon! Waiting for it on Libby! OK. back to the venue. I started off with a special edition One Book, One Brew beer, brewed in the Kolsch style and limited edition beer by Chula Vista Brewery. Nice, crisp and summery beer! I also had a margarita too, that was so-so for me so next time will stick with beers. Parking around here is a pain but I did find a spot after circling a few times. But alas, Carbon Angela's Kitchen deserves every flower, every reservation, every "you have to try this place" text thread, and every bit of love. This place has become one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in San Diego. Easily top five for me, and as someone who dines out a lot for a living, that is not a casual statement. There are places you like, places you recommend, and then there are places that start to feel woven into your actual life. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is that for me. Angela is truly the heart of this place. She has this way of making you feel like you are not just coming in for dinner, but being welcomed into something she deeply cares about. And Emanuele is absolutely part of that magic too. Together, they have built something that feels warm, generous, soulful, and so special. They feel like long-lost friends and family now, and I am honestly just so proud of them and all they are creating. The food is the kind that makes you want to order with the whole table in mind. The griglia mista is hands down one of the best investments you can make if you are dining with a group. It is the meat platter, it is the moment, and it is absolutely worth ordering. Four to five people can split it, especially if you are also doing appetizers, salad, wine, and a few extra things for the table. It is such a perfect nod to what Carbon was before Angela took over, when the space leaned more BBQ, but now it feels beautifully married with Angela's warmth, Italian influence, and the kind of hospitality that makes the whole meal feel like an experience. And please do not sleep on the rest of the menu. The short rib is fire. The arancino trio is always a yes. The eggplant croquette? Obsessed. The crespelle? So good. The Everything Salad is my favorite salad on the menu, and the street corn should never, under any circumstances, be skipped. I said what I said. The wine selection is top tier, the appetizers are memorable, and the whole place has that rare magic of feeling cozy, intentional, and completely unpretentious. You can come for a low-key dinner, a girls' night, a celebration, or one of those "we just need a really good meal and a really good glass of wine" kind of evenings. And the back patio? Perfect for an evening under twinkling lights. It is one of those spaces that just begs for a long table, good conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of night that accidentally turns into a core memory. They also have catering menus available, which is very important information to keep in your back pocket if you are hosting anything soon. What Angela has built is honestly something to behold. One of the hardest-working restaurateurs doing the dang thing in a city like San Diego, and now opening Bedda across the way too? I am in awe and wonder watching it all unfold. It takes so much courage, grit, taste, excellence, and heart to build what they are building, and you can feel all of it in the room. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is a true labor of love, a hidden gem, and one of those places I will keep cheering for again and again. Go hungry. Order the griglia mista. Get the Everything Salad. Do not skip the street corn. Share Share Share, so you can try a little bit of everything and do a tried and true family style meal, you won't regret it.
