In the area for work, needing a hangover remedy to help me through my 11 hour day. Enter breakfast burritos. I'll say.... it was big. It was packed. It included egg, cheese, potatoes.......... (I don't eat meat, altho that is a choice- sausage or bacon).............. but something was missing. The cheese wasn't cheesy enough or the eggs were too dry... Not sure.. But it didn't hit the spot. PLus they take forever. Like.. forever. I don't like eating all those calories if they aren't SPECTACULAR calories!!!... although, of course I did anyway... Decent cafe style food. The restaurant is located in Uptown Whittier right next to a big open court yard, prime real estate so you end up paying for it. It's a nice place if you wanna grab a bite to eat outside, there is plenty of umbrellas and shaded areas and it's kept very clean!!!!! But if your looking for more then diner food there are a lot of speciality places it try in the area. I would have given them 3 stars if the prices were lower. read more

Really nice outdoor atmosphere. It's a small cafe, with breakfast and lunch specials. Interior is small, but majority of the seats are outdoors. In Uptown Whittier, it's a nice spot to eat, drink coffee, and watch the streets. The service is quite friendly. You order at the counter and they bring out the food. Today, I got the Tilapia Lunch special which was under $9, It consisted of seasoned tilapia, salad, fries, and a drink. It's not particularly unusual in terms of flavor (It was not unlike the tilapia from let's say California Fish Grill), but it's quite pleasant. The fries were tasty. I put balsamic vinegar on my salad and it was pleasant. I got hot tea (jasmine) since it was chilly outside. There are many regulars who come here. A group of 2-6 is probably ideal, mostly for outdoor seating. There's street parking, but there are also different parking areas about a block away. The street scene is quite cozy with that old town atmosphere with pawn shops and record shops and such. A good amount of Uptown Whittier has that old town atmosphere that is quite charming. read more

We seen this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. We have been on a kick lately trying out new breakfast places so why not give this place a try. Nice and small little building with an outside patio and dog friendly. We went in, looked over the menu and placed our order. We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather. I ordered a coffee and had the 3 pancakes, two eggs, two bacon and two sausage. I was really excited for the pancakes but was disappointed. They tasted a little rubbery or doughy I was expecting a nice fluffy airy pancake but that was not the case. The eggs, bacon and sausage well you can't go wrong with that. My wife had a Greek omelet that she enjoyed that came with potatoes that she was. It a fan of. They were not very flavorful and had some wheat toast. Would we go back to give it another try? im really shocked that i havent writen a review for Mimos yet; being a regular (im not saying a yelp 'regular', i just come here often regardless) i could have sworn i wrote one already. oops. anyways. my bro was up in this area a few months back on a meeting with an art gallery, and when the woman was two and a half hours late, he got really hungry and decided to stop here for lunch. he instantly loved it and told me about it. a few days later, we were here for lunch and i completely agree with him. now, this is one of our favorite late lunch/dinner/coffee/dessert spots. ive been here on almost every possible weather day. rainy, extremely hot, cold, perfect 78, morning and super late, and every single time i've been here i have never been disappointed. my usual is almost always the tuna melt, but as of lately i've fallen in love with the turkey club. just something about it is delicious. we always order coffee, well a cappuccino for me. the dessert is great also. the baklava is good and cheesecake is as well. the only real problem that i have with this place, not enough for me to knock a star off though, is sometimes with the outdoor seating there will be people who sit right up against the wall and start chain smoking, usually older people tend to do this. it always seems to happen when im there, but they dont stay long. but seriously.. just sit out towards the end more so you dont get smoke in the mouths of people who are trying to eat. overall a great place. the people who work there will certainly notice you if you're a regular and they are always extremely nice. read more

We have been going to Mimo's for over a year and really enjoy this place. The breakfast is very good and you can order anything off the menu regardless of the time of day. That's nice when your kid wants taquitos at 8:00 a.m. The outdoor seating is nice, dog friendly. Coffee is excellent and you're never rushed. Minus a point for the smoking section of the patio which is right with the non-smoking section. I don't care about smoking per se, but its not cool when the kids and 70 year old mom in law have to breath it during their meal. read more

This place is fantastic. I've stopped by multiple times over the last two years and have had a lovely experience and great food each time. Their fries and sandwiches are quite good, but the real winner here is the breakfast menu. The last time I came here for breakfast, I had french toast and a latte, and I had to restrain myself from just inhaling all of it. (Seriously those lattes are amazing!) The portions are neither too large nor too small and always fill me up. The outdoor seating is great for those warm, sunny afternoons, but the indoor seating has its own charm. It's nice and cozy and great for people watching. Note: It seems to attract a rather odd, interesting crowd. read more

Mimo's is great! :) The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is actually better than you'd expect for a cafe (this might just be my opinion of places with the word "cafe" in the name showing) and the choice between outdoor/indoor seating makes it great for catching a quick meal with a friend or delving into super deep conversations. The only reason it's 4/5 and not 5/5 is the lack of a proper restroom. There isn't one available to customers (as far as I know) and even though I don't necessarily *need* there to be one, it would just make the overall facilities a little better. read more

My wife and I came here for lunch after church one Sunday. We were visiting the local used book store and came here for lunch afterwards. The food is okay but, if you read my other reviews, you'll see a couple for Mike's. Mike's is much (much) better. I had a double cheeseburger plate and my wife had the chicken breast salad. The burger tastes better at Mike's and you get more fries. The chicken on the salad has more flavor at Mile's and is juicier. The service was okay except they don't seem to know what is in their food! They also do not have a bathroom and, despite what they said, I don't think Starbucks wants people coming in just to use the bathroom. I don't think we'll be back. read more

The best reason to eat here is the outdoor seating. It has a large patio with large umbrellas at most tables. The atmosphere would be very enjoyable except that there is almost always at least one person smoking a cigar out there (seems like there are a few regulars who spend most of their waking hours on the patio). It's hard to believe that the owner would tolerate something that detracts so much from the only good thing that they have going for themselves. Some of the food that I've had is ok (cheeseburger), other items are bad (nachos), and it is all made with cheap ingredients. Anything you can buy here is offered somewhere else in uptown for less. The service is good, and eating outside is nice. Just remember that the prices are high because of the patio, and try to time your visit to correspond with nap time for the cigar club. read more

I have been coming here for a really long time since 2006 when I started going to Whittier College and I must say that this is definitely a Whittier staple. It's just a casual restaurant with good food and familiar faces with nice outdoor seating. They have a variety of food from American to Mexican and they have breakfast all day, which to me is an added bonus. The only downside to me is the wait time for your food but if you have time it's no big deal and of course you can always order by phone for takeout. read more

I gave this place a four stars only due to the fact they have outside seating and I was really hoping to eat breakfast out side , but they have regulars that buy coffee and smoke outside but the last time I was there they complain because I gave a homeless woman well bought her a breakfast burrito cause she was hungry the regulars made a big fuss cause I ask her to seat with us . The owner also complained. I rather have a homeless seat with me then have to smell that awful cigarette smell or Cigar. The food is good services is great prices are fair. But today when I ask if they could tell them to smoke elsewhere I was told NO ! Never the less we ate inside. read more
