Hamburger special

The staff here are extremely friendly, it's all smiles and good energy. It is clean and honestly really nice vibes. I got the burger since I was craving it, so worth it! It was such a good burger, I can't wait to try more things here!

Wilted lettuce set aside

I thought I would give this place a second chance since the first time I ate there and had breakfast. Unfortunately, it did not taste good. Today I arrived about 230 pm and ordered the taquitos. Again not too impressed. The lettuce they served with the taquitos was wilted. I'm surprised even though it was still early in the day. Wilted lettuce might be expected later in the day but a good restaurant should not serve food that has been sitting all day. Needless to say, I was so hungry I ate the taquitos except for the wilted lettuce. If i had to choose the only thing good was the guacamole but I've had better.

Chorizo and eggs

Food was good, a nice light breakfast! I did like the taste of the chorizo and the beans were my favorite! Overall really good quality and fast service!

Park where you can find a spot. The food is okay. Service is quick. The cost is slightly higher than most and portions aren't big nor small. NO Bathrooms. The owners who tend to you wont crack a smile . Ive been coming periodically here for years and Only because im asked by a family member. Take out orders might be a better fit. This place is very clean.

Very friendly service with a nice greeting as you enter. An extensive menu from breakfast to lunch and dinner. Lots to choose from and competitive pricing. Homemade style with drink selections on the side. Combos and daily specials are offered. We had the chicken parmigiana and the turkey burger combo. Both were delicious. Pastries for dessert too.

Had the pleasure of finding them gem of an establishment today. Service was great, food took no time at all to be brought to our table. Not much seating inside, but outside provided more space. Definitely will be back when me & my wife are in the area. My apologies I forgot to take pictures of our food. She ordered the pancake combo (came w/3 large pancakes, eggs and 4 pieces of bacon), I ordered the french toast combo (eggs & 4 pieces of bacon)

turkey club sandwich with a side of fries, small mocha latte, and decaf coffee

The service here is very friendly. This cafe has been around since my family first came to Whittier about three decades ago. Their club sandwiches are great and their fries are yummy as they're served fresh, crispy and thick. I also loved that they weren't salted. They give you ketchup, salt, and pepper so that the customer can season as they prefer. The coffee was also great and the price was very reasonable. I got the small mocha latte and as a slight sweet tooth who also gets acid reflux if drinking strong coffee I was pleased that the drink wasn't too strong and it was so satisfying. I also love that they put what seemed to be crushed cocoa pebbles in the drink. They also have decaf coffee for those who can't handle caffeine. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a retro feel inside with a menu written in chalk and traditional pastries displayed.

First time here after passing this diner for years. There's accessible parking in the small center,…read morewhich makes it pretty easy to get in and out. Walking inside, it definitely gives off that classic, old-school diner vibe. We were seated right away since it wasn't too busy at the time. The menu is huge, almost overwhelming, so it took us a minute to decide what to order. We kept it simple and went with the traditional pancakes, eggs, and bacon, plus a California burger. The portions were decent, but overall, the food quality was just okay. Nothing terrible, just not particularly memorable, it had a bit of that "cheap" taste to it. That said, the service really stood out. Our server was kind and patient, especially while dealing with my little one being a bit of a handful, which I definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd say it's a solid option if you're looking for a late-night sit-down spot and want to avoid fast food. While I personally wouldn't go out of my way to come back, it wasn't a bad experience. 4 stars, mainly for the friendly service, even though the food didn't quite hit for me.

That ruined my appetite ~ Then they returned it on the plate less the onion rings ~ Stating that was the issue .... NO ! The issue is I sent my plate BACK AND I SEEN MULTIPLE PEOPLE SNIFFING IT ~ then it being returned to me ... THATS A ISSUE . I ended up having French toast . My sister ordered the ribeye as well but she not as sensitive as I am to a fishy smell ...... Then let me mention the men s restroom .... it wasn't messy and unkept but it has a freaking smell to it . Reeking of urine !!! I've been a long time customer and it's a favorite place of mine but let's not over look the importance of have a clean restroom . Let's NOT OVERLOOK THE IMPORTANCE OF CROSS CONTAMINATION OF FRYING FISH AND ONION-RINGS. Now let me mention HOW SHOCKED I WAS WHEN A YOUNG MAN APPROACHED MY TABLE TO ASK WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DRINK ? AS I looked Up ! And seen A RING IN HIS NOSE MY FIRST REACTION WAS (EEEEEKKKKK!) Thinking WHAT THE HELL DO I NEED TO SEE THIS WHEN IM OUT FOR A FAMILY DINNER ? It's DISGUSTING !!!! I paid the bill , left a tip but I hope this makes an impact to management . I can make MORE comments on this particular visit however I'll keep it to the 3 I mentioned . As a long time customer over 40 years , tonight had to be the worst experience in my lifetime of any restaurant. To be fair , I'll try Jacks Whittier again and hopefully the bathroom is disinfected with no residual urine smell and the food I order isn't smelling like FISH . Lastly , a personal dress code put into effect of body piercings. Jacks Whittier Restaurant isn't at Venice Beach ~

The joint serves classic diner food! The kids meal options are a great value and portion size but those car cutouts are extra! You can pic from nuggets, burger and grilled cheese. You also get fries too! Fried zucchini bomb! Breakfast burrito the size of my fat arm and definitely worth every bite. The Frisco burger is also a delight with so many layers and textures. Chili cheese fries hit the spot. Milk shakes!!! It's soo good! You literally see the ladies behind the counter scooping real ice cream from tubs to make their shakes. I can't decide which one I enjoyed more but loved the cookie, Oreo and chocolate. Inside is a 50's carhop with squished Cadillacs! Everything was how I imagined it would be. My kids loved it! Their soda machine is pretty cool with unique soda flavors too. The best part is you can get your car serviced in the back and enjoy your time inside the diner!

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.
