My hairstylist Tam is awesome! I was referred by a friend at work to see him and now has me as a regular client. I always had a hard time deciding what hair color and style to do and would switch to different salons but that has changed when I went to Minh's Hair Salon. In simple words, I asked Tam I wanted to lighten my hair that would brighten my skin complexion and a haircut that would give me extra volume.. He said, "Don't worry I make you look good!" Hehe..And sure he did! I was so happy with the different highlights that came out and my haircut with front layers that added so much volume(especially when curly). Minh's making his salon very comfortable indoors & has had to adjust crazy-making mandates of closing his shop or when outdoor-only-service was required. He remains my son's favorite haircut specialist that we drive for 20 minutes to his place every few month. Minh knows his craft & communicates with his clients for satisfactory results. I sincerely hope you will never have to go through what I've been through at this store. The owner said to me he can 100% make my hair blond like his ( his blond was great so I thought I can trust him) unfortunately this was a nightmare and I should have listen to my gut because when so many salons told me they need few times to get my hair blond but this guy said he can do it right away, I knew it's too good to be true. Here Iam sitting in my car crying because not only is my hair NOT blond more like greyish/Braun but The WORST IS I LOST TONS OF HAIR. Minh is cocky I showed him a picture of what a I wanted (light brown highlights) and it turned out ashy grey at best with no brown. When confronted he said that he didn't think the picture would look with me and changed it. But he didn't have the right to do that and never asked for my consent. NEVER AGAIN. I took my sister who was visiting from out of town to the salon because she had an appointment and was referred to by a family friend. I figured I would get my hair re-layered because I hadn't cut my hair in almost a year. Worst. Decision. I do not normally go to this salon, but my hair cut is never too complicated. Long layers in the back, layers in the front starting an inch below my chin, and don't make the overall length any shorter. First, the guy (Phuong) goes at my hair with scissors without even asking me what I want! I was so shocked I was like woah. Then I tried to quickly spurt out my requests for my hair cut and before I even finish he says I know and chops off four inches of length in the front in layers! I panic set in, and I am sure anyone could tell by my face I was not happy. I decided to let him continue but I voiced my concerns by constantly saying do not make it shorter, I do not like too many layers, I do not want my hair to thin. He clearly did not listen. He kept saying things I did not understand but I kept reiterating my requests. At the end he said you want a V right? That was definitely my last straw. I neared shouted NO and said that is too many layers, too thin. I left the salon with my hair so much thinner, and with layers so choppy and uneven. I do not even know what to do. I just have to let my hair grow for another six months before I can get it fixed, obviously, else where. I do not think I have ever been so unhappy after leaving a salon. It is not just that the cut is terrible, because that can happen when you go to random salons, but because the service! He did not even listen to a single thing I wanted or even tried, he constantly cut me off saying he understand when he clearly did not. TLDR; don't come here. Let me just start by saying that I live in Los Angeles, but I make the hour-long drive down to Garden Grove once a month just to get a haircut from Jeanie at Minh Hair Salon. She has been my stylist for the past 8 years and I trust her to do a good job. I've also convinced my family to start getting their hair cut there as well since they do good work. Men's hair cuts and wash are only $10. To be honest, Its not a high end salon, but I definitely think that the quality is comparable; at least in my personal experience. They play a lot of Vietnamese music videos, which is pretty dope. I have no idea what they're singing about, but it adds to the haircut experience. I highly recommend getting your hair done by the owner, Minh. I showed him what I wanted and he exceeded my exceptions. I was worried that my hair will get damaged by bleaching but his technique of bleaching did not damage my hair at all. This is my first time going to a hair salon in since I arrived in the US. Walked in without an appointment and asked for a purple-lavender kind of colour and was attended to quickly by Minh. My hair was light brown and he told me it would be hard to achieve the colour I wanted (showed him a picture) on a budget. He was very patient and explained to me that the colour will slowly fade into a light pink/purple. He also recommended me highlights so the purple would stand out, it didn't turn out like the pic I wanted but it still looks awesome and I am in love with it, and all this was for a very very low price. Really terrible experience when I got my hair dyed. I wanted smoke gray ombre but he turned my hair into a broom. I told him this isnt the color I want but he irresponsibly argued that the color was nice to him. The color turned out yellow and orange, he did not even bleach it to the right color. He offered to redo my hair on another day but I dont trust him! It costed me 60$ for damaging, not satisfying! read more

I've been going to this hair salon for over 2 years because my father is friends with the owner, Minh, and I always get my hair cut by him. Minh is very talented in which he cuts hair quickly but also with the quality. However, like a lot of asian service, there is a lack of social between us, but it never stopped me coming to him. On my last visit to Minh Hair Salon, I was instead served by Danny. (almost all the workers are male) I showed him a picture of the haircut I wanted and not only did he match it almost perfectly, he had altered it to fit my head shape. This I know because he and I agreed that the model in the picture had a different face and he knew how to adjust the hair style to correspond with mine. I have to say honestly, out of all of my haircuts with the owner, Minh, the haircut with Danny blew me away! I think it's because of the special consideration Danny gave to me on the shape of my head. Additionally, he was very sociable to me. The haircut was only $15 and I gave him a $5 tip :) Should've gave more but hey, I'm only a college student. I've been cutting my hair here, since I was a little girl. And that has been a long time ago. Today, I decided to try someone new which is Steve aka phong. Not only was he rude, but he also made rude remarks to my choice of hair color and the way I look. When I told him not too short, he decided to risk it and cut my hair into the hairstyles from the 70s. I hardly have any hair left to make it into a bun. I would rather put a wig on, then walk around with this hair style. The next time I need a hair cut, I'd rather pay a visit at koogai or amazing hair. Better service and way better haircut. At least they understand how I want my hair to look like, how to be attentive, and at least they know what's trending and what's not. Time to open vogue and learn some new hairstyles, dude.
