There were 2 kiosks as soon as you walked in. I counted 11 customers including myself waiting for their drinks. No outdoor seating, only 3 small tables with 7 chairs, 1 bench that sat 4 adults, no restrooms. This used to a candy shop a while back. Normally I would take photos of the establishment but there were too many people inside & I did not want to bother them & include them in the photos, if I could help it at all. I ordered via kiosk coz the staff were ultra bz. Usually, I prefer the human interaction but not encountered at this visit. Got the taro smoothie for Hubby & got an iced mango green tea, both were decent. I liked my refreshing drink at 50 % sweetness level & easy on the ice. Next time, for any Gong Cha shop, will go on an odd time, not when it's prime time like weekends. It was hot on this day, so this tea hit the spot, and both drinks were amazing. The store itself has a great feel to it; it feels like home, and it feels very welcoming. The drink itself was pretty refreshing. However, because I ordered it 25% sweet, I didn't really taste much passion fruit flavor. It had a mixture of lime and passion fruit (you can see the seeds on the bottom of the drink) but the flavor was not strong at all. The flavor leaned more tart and citrusy rather than passion fruit. Customer Service: The people who took our order and brought out our drinks were friendly. All in all, it was a good experience but I wasn't the most impressed. The donuts were soft and fresh, the toppings were generous, and each flavor actually tasted like what it was supposed to be. The Banana Pudding was creamy without being overly sweet, and the Lemon Poppy had a really nice lemon flavor. I also ordered the Zombie Coffee with banana cream. If you like your coffee STRONG, this is the one! The banana cream added a nice sweetness and flavor without taking away from the coffee. What really impressed me was the selection. We didn't get there until around 2 PM, and they still had a large variety of donuts that looked fresh. A lot of donut shops are pretty picked over by the afternoon, so that was a huge plus. Service was excellent. Everyone was very nice, welcoming, and helpful while we were deciding what to order. One thing to know: there is no restroom available, so keep that in mind if you're planning to sit and enjoy your donuts and coffee. I got the Pandan drink and a banana milk coffee drink both were delicious not overly sweet. We ordered on the iPad screen so that was pretty convenient. Gone are the traditional teas and sesame jelly that made Hechalou so famous. These options are replaced by cheap imitations of Starbucks' frothy drinks that sound good on paper but taste like iced piss with sugar. The drinks are excessively sweet, a mortal sin by Asian standard, and they have a generic taste that might as well have one item on the entire menu. Alas, to get a sip of the old favorites, now I have to drive across town instead of stop by after work. I am glad that I got my many trips here before the old guards died, and it's probably better for my hemoglobin A1c in the long run.
